Unique Business on Savo Island: The Megapode Egg Trade

Megapodes, jungle birds native to the Solomon Islands, are approximately half the size of chickens, pitch black in color, and known for their skittish nature, often fleeing when approached. On Savo Island, locals have developed a megapode field, utilizing volcanic sand dugout holes where the birds lay their eggs. Tavuli News spoke with Wilfred Ngasi, one of
