The conversation Graham had with Merrill "There are no coincidences in life" was a key moment. It was not a coincidence that Bo had the water fetish, Morgan had asthma to block the poison gas, Merrill always wanted to swing away, and the Vet fell asleep at the wheel so the mother could warn Graham of what to do.
Thank you. Normally I'm the one making this post on reactions. LOL. It's not a movie about an Alien Invasion, it's a movie about Faith, told through a series of Signs.
A friend of mine had a party when we were 17...invited a bunch of us from school. They decided the cool thing would be to use their projector to show movies on the side of their barn...kinda like a private movie theater outside on blankets...well they showed this movie....and behind us were acres of cotton fields. Ever seen a bunch of terrified 18-16 year olds? I'm sure that was still the scariest drive/walk home we ever had.
@@Melissa-wx4lu I get it! I took my nieces to see The Blair Witch Project one night, and I asked them if they could spend the night when we got home. I live in the countryside, but they all lived in further away eerier countryside. I really didn’t want to have to drive home alone after dropping them off after dark that night. The wooded areas I was used to driving past all the time suddenly looked very sinister.
I love how everything came together in the end: 1. The wife predicted this. 2. Merril "swing away". 3. Bo had the thing about water. 4. Morgan had asthma so no alien poison got in, his lungs were closed. 5. Graham saw the SIGNS!
Alot of people thought it was lame that water being what killed the aliens but I always thought it was clever. Not all planets have water. So if these aliens were scouting for a new place, earth being 2/3 water would not be a good choice lol. So once they figured that out, they left but abandoned their wounded aliens. Everything ties together to make sense in the end.
Ray wasnt drunk and didnt mean to kill the mom. His whole speech in his car is symbolism and him trying to explain how he feels the accident wasn't a coincidence.
This film is M Night's greatest in my opinion. Pure art , and as perfectly written as a film could be . All of the events leading right up to the very evidence that Mel's character needed to understand that a higher power was sending him signs all along . This movie brilliantly mixes Faith , philosophy, and ET in a very very cool way ! I wish M Night Shyamalan would start making movies of this caliber again.
This movie is so underrated. When it first released, it had some trouble because the marketing never once hinted that this wasn't an alien movie, but was instead a movie about grief, faith, and loss, so people went in expecting a scary sci-fi movie and were VERY confused when they didn't get War of the Worlds. I'm glad it's being rediscovered and people are appreciating it now, because honestly, I know they say Sixth Sense is the magnum opus of Shyamalan, but I think this one is up there with it and I actually like it more (not saying it's better, but it's just the one I LIKE more).
i will never forget seeing signs as a kid in the cinemas. still one of the scariest movies ever. scariest scene goes to the kids party, second scariest scene is that army guy.
@@jwoginrich i remember thinking i was so smart and trying to convince my friends that he was the head alien in disguise because he was just so creepy! haha
Honesty, that was the part that always unsettled me most as well. I think it’s because it happened in the middle of the day in front of so many people. Usually in creepy movies these things happen at night and when no one other than the main characters are around to witness. I wonder if it’s because it didn’t “follow the classic rules” and thus introducing a new level of unpredictability that made it extra unsettling.
@@jwoginrichI remember him being campy even back then but also I wasn’t a kid I was in my mid teens at the time. Probably was a different experience for a kid. That’s what I love about rewatching movies I haven’t seen since I was a kid, seeing my new perspective as an adult 😂
I remember seeing the newscast alien scene as a kid, and it scared me for a long time! Watching it later as an adult, it still freaked me out. M. Night did an amazing job with this movie.
I've seen this movie MANY MANY times over the past 20 years. It's actually one of those movies where you notice new little easter eggs each time you watch. After like the 20th time watching it (which was years ago) I stopped noticing anything new. When you pointed out that Joaquin Phoenix misses the board several times in a row while he's hammering it, that was a moment for me. I'd thought there were no more new easter eggs to find, so thanks for that 🙂🙂.
I live I rural Kansan. Our house and fields are very much like this. My son is non verbal, autistic and loved eloping in the cornfields when Bo sized. It was terrifying. I would call and call and he wouldn't answer. I could see stalks move which could be him or a critter. And I could sometimes hear him laugh. Our fields are very moist, and with adult weight, you often sink into the mud a few makes running hard. It will suck your shoes off your feet even. There's snakes and holes. I have broken my ankle tripping in one and had to crawl/limp back home. Nightmare fuel. Hearing him giggle while I was frantically searching was just the creepiest.
All of this sounds terrifying. I've always loved the idea of being able to look out over crop fields and to enjoy the peace. After reading that I'm a bit happier that I live in the middle of London. :)
@@theConquerersMama You've done good. I would fail so spectacularly. If I broke my ankle in a mud hole there's no way I could drag my carcass back home. They'd have to wait for harvest time to find me - lol.
Another Kansan here. I used to play in the corn fields all the time. the biggest concern is indeed the snakes. The dangerous ones really blend in with leaves, and when you're a little kid having fun, you don't really pay attention to the ground that hard. Plus we'd either walk miles away from anyone else or our parents would drop us off for hours.
@@TracetoriMemoria He's a weird dude but he's good in the movies he's in. Would I want to have lunch with him or let him date anyone in my family...NO.
1. A favorite I’ve seen many times. 2. M Night Shyamalan plays the vet who killed the Father’s wife; he wrote and directed this film. Like Hitchcock, he makes cameos in his films. 3. Only just now realized that Lionel is the scrubby guy in the recruiters office, talking smack about Merrill. 4. The son is played by Rory Culkin, brother of MacCauley. 5. Bo is played here by Abigail Breslin, from Zombieland and Little Miss Sunshine.
Yes, that's exactly what it looked like in the cinema back then when the alien hand came out from under the pantry door. The entire audience, everyone in the cinema, including me, was incredibly frightened and jumped back. I'll never forget that... 😅😂
The alien reveal at the kids party really scared me. Another tense moment for me was when Merle broke the light bulb, leaving everyone in the dark. After the dog peed on the floor, Graham suggested taking the dog to a doctor instead of to the vet because it was the vet who accidentally killed his wife. Jack may have been right when he misread vet as vegetarian; when Graham reached for the knife, there were chopped vegetables on the counter top. The jerk at the army recruiting place was named Lionel. Maybe he's the Lionel that they thought was pranking them.
So glad to see more reactors watching Signs. It’s a great movie. I grew up in the foothills of Appalachia outside of a small farming community. There were maybe 3,000 people in the town & 5,000 in the county. We were surrounded by miles & miles of corn & tobacco & woods. Whenever the dogs in the area started barking aggressively at night the adults would say “Those d@mn boogers are back” & everyone had to go inside & the next couple of days us kids wouldn’t be allowed to go into the woods or crops. We’d be told to stay close to the house or “the boogers will get you”. Boogers is hillbilly for Bigfoot/Sasquatch. Never saw anything - aliens or boogers - but a healthy fear of things hiding in the darkness was instilled in us from a young age.
The daughter didn't leave them out on purpose, the movies about fate and coincidence. She had a phobia that happened to be useful, just like morgans asthma
“Is it a playful scream?” Dude, for several years I had this neighborhood girl who when outside playing with her brothers liked to scream as if the world was ending just for the fun of it I guess. It put me on edge every time. And every time I swore it would be the last, she would be the girl who cried wolf, but every damn time I had to take a peak over our fence to make sure she wasn’t being freakn kidnapped or something 🙄
Yes I've been there. I just tell myself at least I'm watching out so if God forbid something does happen I was there when it happened. But yes, it's hilarious and biologically funny that children laughs are the same as their screams and crying until they hit puberty.

I watched this movie by myself at the cinema. There was only me and one other person sat pretty far from me. It was quite a scary experience and I'll never forget it.
I saw it in a crowded theater and everyone jumping at the bday party/TV scene is still such a great collective memory of people all moving and experiencing something together. 😂

Great reaction. You two always make me laugh and laugh 😂 One M. Night movie that I never see anyone react to is The Village. Definitely recommend that one
M.Night Sha(I cant spell that) is such a good, multilayered story teller. Like Hitchcock they often have a spooky component but the key bit is just good storytelling and relationships.
38:37 when you realise she had the same clairvoyant powers as her daughter. 39:30 and they daughter was clairvoyant and was subconsciously leaving all the glasses of water around the living room ❤
I have loved this movie since it first came out! =) The horror drama sci fi mix is awesome!!! And 5 year old Abigail Breslin killed her performance, so glad she has a successful career!
What a great suggestion! I'm not all that familiar with it, but i think it's an alien invasion movie right? After this one i'm weirdly craving more of that 😅
Just discovered your channel this morning, and I’ve just loved watching both of your reactions. I subscribed right away. I can’t wait to go through your horror movie reviews from now until Halloween 🎃. Sometimes it takes watching a great reaction of a movie that maybe stayed with me a bit more than I liked to take some of the deep scare from it. Watching others get a little scared too, and possibly getting some laughs out of it too seems to help. You guys have that perfect blend of scare to laughs ratio😊. You’re both just a lot of fun to watch, very genuine. I’ve always enjoyed Signs, it’s never really had that deep horror factor. I love the character studies and family aspects of this movie. I’m going to suggest another M. Night Shamalan movie that did have more of a freaky-creepy factor, “The Visit”. Also if you haven’t seen it yet, his movie “The Sixth Sense “ is such a great classic. Enjoy!
Loved your reaction to this. The party scene on the news scared me when i first saw it.. still unsettles me to this day. Also the scene at dinner will never fail to make me cry with all the emotions happening. This movie is absolutely amazing a favourite of mine. 👽
FYI: the doctor, “Ray” is played by the director M. Night. I think he’s actually very good, also has a part in his “Lady in the Water”, I think his performance is very Ben better. I’d recommend a couple of his movies “Devil” sort of a who-done-it, (like Clue but horror). And “The Village”, both very thought provoking. Recommend : “Children of the Corn” from 1985, ( you will get a laugh from the old special effects 😆), but the concept is really creepy.
Great reaction to a great movie. I agree i never understood how the aliens could put their fingers under the door 😂 Mel's house sure mustve been draughty!
I think this was an AWESOME reaction!! I can’t believe this is the first video of yours I’ve seen, but instant sub! Hilarious, fun, & I think they didn’t bring the other dog inside bc the first acted so strangely & the poor boy had to kill it thinking he was saving his sister. 😢
This movie was shot literally in and around my home town area. I know the farm and houses in/near Doylestown and New Hope PA where the shoots were. Still one of my fav M.Night movies.
I’ve just discovered your channel - absolutely love your reactions! Love the banter between you both - so funny! 😆 I’ve been feeling quite down recently but your videos have cheered me up so thank you!! 🙏🏻 🙂xx

The way the movie just, SLAMS you with a ton fo information super fast to catch you, but then explains NONE of the clairvoyance stuff with the wife and daughter is WILD
“Best start to a movie we’ve had Crop circles Screaming children in the corn fields DEAD Dog And now we got some sort of monster on the roof of the house”
"It's like it's been filmed on a potato, Dan" he says as we can't adjust the video quality 😂😂 Great reaction guys, I always enjoy watching you and your banter! Cheers
"Huge balls on Mel Gibson" Oh don't let him hear you say that or the man'll think he's Jesus or something. It's a little preachy and the plot shouldn't be thought... TOO hard about or it starts to dissolve faster than a Signs alien at Splash Mountain but it is a REALLY good horror movie and I do honestly REALLY like it in spite of myself. It genuinely scared the BUHJESUS out of myself when I was 11 and it's still pretty intense. And I do honestly like Bo and the water thing and the whole "his lungs were closed so none of the poison got in". Like there's honestly a lot to like in this movie.
Have you guys seen Nope? Fairly new to the channel, been watching quite a few of your vids over last week or so. So know that the algorithm gods favor you both! Not very far from 5k subs, it'll come soon. You guys are quite entertaining, keep it up!
Such a great fun film. Love that M. Night cameos in his films like many greats like, Hitchcock, Tarantino, Stan Lee, etc. Want a creepy alien true story u might like the film, "Fire in the Sky" based on true story from court documents, intereviews, and witness accounts. Thanx so much, Peace
Great film & fun reaction! Other viewers have suggested War of the Worlds (the 2005 remake of a classic 1953 film), as one of the best alien invasion films. For a comic change of pace, I could also recommend Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), regarded by some as one of the WORST movies of all time of any genre, almost beyond parody. Very few YT reactors have actually taken it on. I think you'd have fun with it!
The "vegetarian" thing killed me :D As a family drama, this movie is excellent. As an alien invasion movie. . . I just have a hard time getting past the glaring issue that beings capable of intergalactic travel should be intelligent enough to NOT invade a planet that's 70% water if their only weakness IS water. It would be like us trying to invade a planet full of acid, and even we aren't that dumb.
OMGG, when I was younger my grandpa always watched this. I’m not joking when I say that I was absolutely terrified of this movie but now I really like it😭
Small details really makes this movie: In the beginning when Morgan says the dog is sick and to take him to the vet, but the father says that it's better if we take him to the doctor... because Ray aka the man of the car accident was a vet, so he doesn't trust him to take care of the dog.
I'm really glad this film gets better attention as time goes on cuz it did have a little bit of a rough go when it first came out simply because people were expecting another Sixth Sense. But it's really hard to duplicate I think people just got two and raptured with the idea that Shyamalan was the next Spielberg when he definitely is not he is his own director with his own vision
This is one of my all time favorites. Dad showed it to us like the day or the day after it released on TV/VHS/DVD, whatever it was at that point. Anyway we grew up in an area very similar to that and it scarred us for life lol. Our county in our state also has the most ufo sightings per capita in the whole midwest and we are surrounded by forests and cornfields. If the corn was up you never went out at night alone lol. And if you did have to go out you begged a sibling to go with you and armed yourself with a rifle or a shotgun
Idk if it’s just me, but was anyone else terrified by this movie as a kid? Kids growing up have had different nightmares like ghosts, clowns, spiders, etc. but for me it was these damn aliens that haunted me growing up. I can recall at least 8 separate nightmares I had in the past because of this movie and the fact that I still remember each of the dreams vividly just shows how much it messed me up lmao.
3 strikes make one out. A strike is either a swing and a miss, a hit out of bounds, or the pitcher put it right in the "strike zone" above the plate, and the batter did not swing. Another out is being tagged out at the plate if the thrower gets the ball there before you. Also, if your hit is caught without a bounce. 3 outs and the teams switch offensive/defense. The game is 9 of these "innings" in series, unless tied, it will go another inning(s) until the score is not.
I love how every time someone who doesn't have kids always thinks there is something in the water and that's why she won't finish her glasses. When in reality all moms know that kids just do weird shit like this all the time. The point in the movie of her leaving the glasses everywhere is so they can accidentally find out it's what the aliens are scared of.
The conversation Graham had with Merrill "There are no coincidences in life" was a key moment. That pantry scene nearly killed me and that was during the daytime, i definitely would not have survived if this was during the night 😅
M.Night Sha(I cant spell that) is such a good, multilayered story teller. Like Hitchcock they often have a spooky component but the key bit is just good storytelling and relationships.
And, like Hitchcock, appears in a scene in all of his movies.
38:37 when you realise she had the same clairvoyant powers as her daughter. 39:30 and they daughter was clairvoyant and was subconsciously leaving all the glasses of water around the living room ❤
I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS, THIS IS A TOP FIVE MOVIE OF MINNNNEEEE
CHEERSSS!!!!!
I loved this movie!! I thought it was brilliant, great pacing, so well written too!
I have loved this movie since it first came out! =) The horror drama sci fi mix is awesome!!! And 5 year old Abigail Breslin killed her performance, so glad she has a successful career!
You guys would love War of the worlds, with Tom Cruise
What a great suggestion! I'm not all that familiar with it, but i think it's an alien invasion movie right? After this one i'm weirdly craving more of that 😅
@@JackDanReact yes! One of the best alien invasion movies. Directed by Stevan Spielberg. A lot more intense than Signs
@leahdavis1641 Signs isn't about aliens. They're demons. Holy water kills them.
2nding this, and also adding "Super 8" 💜
Have to watch Cloverfield then too
Just discovered your channel this morning, and I’ve just loved watching both of your reactions.
Enjoy!
May, so glad to see you react to this movie!! It's awesome 😊
Actually one of my favourite movies. Love it. So touching and genuinely scary. And the music. A perfect Hitchcock type of film.
Classic Lionel and the boys just prowling the rooftops. 👌
He's such a little rascal that Lionel isn't he
@@JackDanReact Always on the hunt for shenanigans. He's consistent, gotta give him that.
Yaya finally!!! One of my all time favourites!
This movie was shot literally in and around my home town area. I know the farm and houses in/near Doylestown and New Hope PA where the shoots were. Still one of my fav M.Night movies.
Just found your channel. Great reaction. You’re both so much fun to watch along with! Looking forward to the next one. Subscribed.
I’ve just discovered your channel - absolutely love your reactions! Love the banter between you both - so funny! 😆 I’ve been feeling quite down recently but your videos have cheered me up so thank you!! 🙏🏻 🙂xx
Amazing video guys! Can you guys please make a reaction video of Smile? Its really good and scary and there's a 2nd one coming as well. ❤Keep up the good work!
I second this!
The way the movie just, SLAMS you with a ton fo information super fast to catch you, but then explains NONE of the clairvoyance stuff with the wife and daughter is WILD
I love this film🙏🏼 definitely one of my favorite M. Night Shyamalan films.
this as a video game would be sick!!
_”Tom, I’ll need a ride home.”_
You guys are great 😂 👏👏. First time watch and new subscriber.
Dan is so adorable 😎
I recommend two other m night shayamalalalaan films. The Visit and the Village. Lots of famous faces in the Village including Joaquin 👌
Brand new viewer and holy hell ive missed out on yalls channel. Thank you for reacting to this it was my childhood
Loved this. The Village is a really great one too!
I watched this at 7 years old at a sleepover and it began my fascination with film and aliens - such a class film
“Best start to a movie we’ve had
Crop circles
Screaming children in the corn fields
DEAD Dog
And now we got some sort of monster on the roof of the house”
One of the best parts of an M. Night Shyamalan movie is seeing what role he wrote for himself 23:45
“ Cast Iron Nuggets” is now something I’m going to say the rest of my life. And will be abbreviated to “C.I.N.”
Hi guys just joined your channel. This just popped up on my feed.
"It's like it's been filmed on a potato, Dan" he says as we can't adjust the video quality 😂😂
Great reaction guys, I always enjoy watching you and your banter! Cheers
just found your guys channel and i've been watching your reactions. subscribed and i love your vids! keep going guys :)
Fun fact their home was built just for the movie and the corn was also planted just for the film
Great film, and can i say Jack - a fabulous choice of book.....eagerly waiting for Fry's 4th instalment later this year!
Have you guys seen the sixth sense?
Great film & fun reaction! Other viewers have suggested War of the Worlds (the 2005 remake of a classic 1953 film), as one of the best alien invasion films. For a comic change of pace, I could also recommend Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), regarded by some as one of the WORST movies of all time of any genre, almost beyond parody. Very few YT reactors have actually taken it on. I think you'd have fun with it!
You two are so much fun to watch
The intro with the hands clapping is adorable
The "vegetarian" thing killed me :D As a family drama, this movie is excellent. As an alien invasion movie. . . I just have a hard time getting past the glaring issue that beings capable of intergalactic travel should be intelligent enough to NOT invade a planet that's 70% water if their only weakness IS water. It would be like us trying to invade a planet full of acid, and even we aren't that dumb.
OMGG, when I was younger my grandpa always watched this. I’m not joking when I say that I was absolutely terrified of this movie but now I really like it😭
I always cry at Mel, always. He's such a great actor. I love the subtle humour too. Great film
He was so good in this wasn't he! I need to see more Mel Gibson movies i think!
He makes me cry too.
One of my favorite movies! Loved your reactions too funny.
Great reaction! You guys are amusing as all get out!
You guys are hilarious! I'm now a subscriber!
Watching this in the super dark movie theater was the best experience! I was scared for 2 weeks after 😂
One of my favorites!
Felt wrong not to swing
Small details really makes this movie: In the beginning when Morgan says the dog is sick and to take him to the vet, but the father says that it's better if we take him to the doctor... because Ray aka the man of the car accident was a vet, so he doesn't trust him to take care of the dog.
The little boy is Mc Cauley Culkins little brother ...and the little girl is the young girl in "Zombieland'
Of all the places that aliens could choose to visit, why on earth would they choose Wakefield? 🤣
I've only ever driven past Wakefield, thinking i may have to head down there to see what all the fuss is about! 😅
Roswell was full?
Of all the planets in the universe- why would they pick one that's 71% water?😂
I'm really glad this film gets better attention as time goes on cuz it did have a little bit of a rough go when it first came out simply because people were expecting another Sixth Sense. But it's really hard to duplicate I think people just got two and raptured with the idea that Shyamalan was the next Spielberg when he definitely is not he is his own director with his own vision
i wonder what they did with the dead alien
You guys should watch "District 9". Another alien movie. There's also "Life".
Great reaction! Love love love this movie.
My favorite is how Jack says Dan so much.
love your videos...can someone tell me how to get myself a Dan looking at Jack type of person?
Seen it in the cinemas as a kid when it was released. Went to it without any knowledge of what it was about.
