you mean kappa? the fx 8k is the same temp a 6800 gets, a fx 4k is the same temp a i3 gets . the ryzen will have 65 to 90w tdp so its maybe much cooler than the dumped up intels that you have to behead to get low temps

I'd be more worried about the opposite problem. I've seen hot glue fail at just high room temperatures of 35-40c, normally it's even hotter than that inside a computer case.

NVENC has pretty bad quality compared to using X264 - And you're taxing the GPU harder, which is going to hurt Luke more than using a CPU this powerful on the mostly idle cores.
Mansen True, nvenc is nothing compared to x264, unless you decide to be using 50mbps like you would if you were recording, 5mbps is garbage compared to it
There's nothing limited about OBS in the slightest. It's actually pretty advanced once you start digging in, whereas XSplit does limit you on certain things (i.e. encoders). Nvenc doesn't tax the GPU in any significant manner - if XSplit is knocking him down that many frames, Nvenc is going to boost it back up.
i didnt XD first time changing my cpu i broke the stock cooler XD and left it hanging on 1 mounting thigy forgot to put thermal paste so my temps were 70 and above and finally to the nearest tech store for a fix XD

R1 Universal wouldn't have helped in this situation.The fins themselves aren't different between the 2, & the Universal is actually offset an additional 4.5mm towards the rear. He would have had to bend the heat pipes more, & still wouldn't have been able to use the additional fan. He probably would have been better off with the NH-D15, which is symmetrical & already has the outside bottom fins cut out. He'd probably still have to drop the front fan, & might want a better looking center fan, since aesthetics is a concern, but it likely would have fit with no modification required.

David Greenland No, they use an anti static mat often, plus they aren't stupid. I've never used any antistatic mat or band, and my PC's run fine, excluding my artifacting 380.
I boguht an anti-static wristband and I never know what to do when I have it on, whether to have the PC plugged in or not, so I just turn off the PC now and unplug it and don't wear the strap and make sure to touch the PC case often near the PSU and I haven't shocked anything out ever.
Hes using an older X99 motherboard that actually requires a BIOS update for it to recognize the broadwell-E 6XXX line of CPU's to work, Probably why it didnt work.
This is a perfect example of making your PC look cool as well as having great performance. I often see people say things like "Why would you want your PC to look like [blah blah blah], it's just a PC". Because a PC, for a lot of people, is for more than just functionality. It's also a physical representation of your personal style. If you like everything blacked out and plain, fine. If you hate side panel windows, fine. But plenty of us like showing off the hard work that went into building the PC and want it to look awesome. It doesn't matter if you're the only one who looks at it. Making it look the way you want it to is the whole point.

dude upgrade it to 3770k, makes a big difference. cause ivy bridge uses pcie 3.0. your 2600k still uses pcie 2.0. as long as your motherboard supports pcie 3.0
Let's just hope you never need to transport that case somewhere, it'd be a shame if one of the crystals came loose and broke the tempered glass from the inside out. o.O

I had to scroll much further than expected to find someone that was asking this question. This was my first question too. In response to the other replies to your comment: he tested to make sure the board posted, he did not test to get into BIOS and make sure all the components were registering. I love Luke and LTT but this seems like a glaring oversight for people whose job is technology and building PC's. To not make sure your build boots into BIOS with all parts registering before gluing components into the case seems very odd.

The problem here is that he should Bought the R1 Universal Not the R1 Ultimate.
Most manufacturers will have, like, measurements on their website so you can calculate that sort of thing in advance.

Did you try blowing out the dust in the ram slots. It usually works with my gameboy.

I stopped assembling PCs years ago without running Memtest86+ before. ...and I don't glue minerals into those rigs ;-)
I had to scroll much further than expected to find someone that was asking this question. This was my first question too. In response to the other replies to your comment: he tested to make sure the board posted, he did not test to get into BIOS and make sure all the components were registering. I love Luke and LTT but this seems like a glaring oversight for people whose job is technology and building PC's. To not make sure your build boots into BIOS with all parts registering before gluing components into the case seems very odd.
