Even I got one in Canada which is built with snapdragon, the mura grainy display still bother me a lot, I wonder how Samsung could appcept it for their flagship 😢
It happens on S22 and S23. I had S22 Exynos and then switched to S23 and the prorblem sitll persists. Isn't the Exynos supposed to allow Samsung to "optimise" the software because they now control the software and hardware on the phone? If they can't even get their own chip right that's pretty bad.
Samsung really doesn't care about optimization, they only care about marketing and sales, they are literally famous for lagging phones and keep doing it. But look at all youtubers that praised the exynos version on s24, it's exactly same every damn year. People are too guliable and they don't learn.
I was close to buy an S24 this year because I wanted to upgrade my S20 FE but since S24U was too expensive my choice would be S24 base model, after seeing the release with exynos here in Brazil I just saved some money to get the S23 512GB, at first I didn't see the 2400 problems but after watching some battery and performance tests the gain was too small to justify the purchase.
Thanks to your reviews, your Galaxy S24 side by side test videos to other Samsung S-class releases, I decided to buy the S23. I bought the S23 solely because of the Exynos processors on the S24 and S24+ for the European market. I always prefer snapdragon processors, even in weaker smartphone classes. I appreciate your work, your effort, your objectivity in reviews, and I hope you will persist in it.
Let's not forget that the base S24 also doesn't support ultrawide band. That's another nip at the heels of future proofing it. I can see in a few year's time needing that feature with Apple and Google working together to make a universal Find My network, and the base S24 isn't going to be able to utilize trackers due to missing it. It's really annoying how Samsung will gimp the base models to upsell the behemoth that is the ultra.
If I remember right the S23+ had UWB and the S23 didn‘t. If the S24+ is similar it should have UWB, too. But check it in the specs before choosing as I might be wrong.
i know ur mad but wifi 7 is not even popular and barely rolling out its basically a useless feature wifi 6 and 6e are more reliable so theres nothing really to be mad about because it wont really affect you
@@emi_0311 I'm mad because I got a WiFi7 Router and bought a S24 because I read It will have Wifi7, I spent 2 days trying to get my S24 work with wifi7 until I found out they capped that feature in the Base and plus model, Wifi7 only works with the S24 Ultra. My S24 has the Snapdragon Gen 3 Chip, and that chip is totally capable of Wifi7, they that restricted that feature by software.
07:34 Mo, so the Mura effect is caused by a defective or an unrefined panel? Is it related to LTPO technology? Did I get a faulty unit if I see graininess as well as white/grey shades with uneven hues of green/pink in low brightness, or should I expect all units to behave like this? I've done intensive testing to this phone (I've got S24+ Exynos) and honestly, the worst offender to me is not the processor or even the modems as I expected, but the screen, especially compared to S23 which has no issues whatsoever and it even has better sounding speakers. Shocking.
Hi Mo, You did not overcrititised them! They claimed that exynos is the same as snapdragon, wich is a LIE . You could show it with procedures, and numbers. In my case (dual sim usage, and often no wifi) the difference is: I can arrive at home with a working phone or not. For me its a HUGE difference. I do not want to waste money to a phone that can not serve me trough the day, especially for this amount of money... And i do not want to carry a powerbank with a brand new flagship phone. Keep up the good work!
I was super hyped about getting the new S24+ when I saw your videos about the differences between Exynos and Snapdragon, I'm in a Exynos region and here it's hot all year, I can only begin to image how much it will overheat, causing the battery to drain even faster, and the camera is just not refined, the AI features caught my attention for a bit, but knowing it'll also come to S23, I'm now really considering buying last year's model instead
Tips for spending money wisely when it comes to tech products : -Dont buy the product immediately no matter how excited you are -Watch several reviews ( balanced reviews not from one region) , looks like USA TH-camrs focus more on building their channels while releasing cosmetic reviews 😅
I spent 48 hours with the S24 Plus and didn't encounter any heating problems except during initial setup. Another instance was when around 30 to 40 apps were upgrading in the background and when sliding through Instagram reels. Even then, it didn't exceed 41 degrees Celsius. Comparatively, my Moto Edge 50 Pro reaches up to 43 degrees Celsius, and my wife's iPhone 15 goes up to 44 degrees Celsius. If you don't keep the camera app open for 30 minutes straight, it won't heat up. The battery lasts a day, providing around 6.5 to 7 hours of screen-on time (SOT). The Exynos chipset has improved significantly, and I hope it continues to improve in the future.
who has encountered the problem, on my s24 they found such a problem, when I turn on two SIM cards on the phone, the mobile Internet starts to glitch, the only thing that helps is to turn on and off the flight mode or battery saver. then the connection quickly recovers, I turn off one SIM card, there are no problems, everything works well. what is the reason, I gave it for diagnostics, they said everything is ok .. but they did not check the operation of two SIM cards. I want to say that I went through all the procedures, recommendations from technical support, changed SIM cards, other operators, changed location, still the internet disappears. what could it be... processor exynos. Has anyone had problems like this?
i consider myself an average consumer, I use my phone for social media, taking pictures, some apps (like editing pic and videos) 2 or 3 not heavy games. Other than the battery draining faster on Exynos 2400, which is the only one available in my country, do you think there is anything else that will deter me from buying the S24 plus?
Hi there! I'm also experiencing the grainy display issue on my s24+ and it really pisses me off that the samsung service center here won't allow me to replace my device as they said its not defective even though clearly theres some graininess on the display! 😅
@MaDFroG88 actually the reason I bought the 24+ is because of the higher display resolution, and what's ironic there is im one of the few who get to experience the grainy display issue :) HAHAHAH
The grainy screen is also present on S22 and S23 models. It's a software issue, that persists on the S24. I've tried to take a screen shot of the settings menu that looked grey rather than black (background), and i compared the ss with the black image and the black is black (pixels are off) but the menu is grainy.
Your videos have been helpful. Here in Singapore, we get the Exynos version. I am not anti-Exynos, but you are right to say we are spending a lot of money to get a S24 model, and they cost the same across two different chipsets. So maybe I'll wait for a major price drop before I get the Exynos S24.
I bought the s24 plus for 1440 in Singapore. And it exynos. That is before I know about the common issue with exynos but I still like the phone. Just heating too fast. Hope my phone can last long.
My s24 ultra takes really good pics and videos but is it just me but my video recordings have a small stutter every once in a while? Hopefully they fix it with an update because it a jumpy video messes up the whole thing.
Wifi 7 isn't available everywhere yet! But the phones support it. Generally they've added this feature for future not today because WiFi 7 max speed is up to 40Gbps which is insane.
Large TH-camrs who get sponsored by large companies for their products have their hands tied. They neither want to avoid clashing with the brand nor they wanna "offend" their large "sensitive" viewer base who just happen to be "fanboys". Additionally large "reviewers" are not enthusiast enough - they are simply "influencers" who cater to the "aVerAgE cUsTomER". They are simply not critical enough with their assessment and brands like Samsung just get away with this.
you gained a new subscriber, I used to be a samsung fan im buying everything single product from samsung since 8 years but from now on I won't buy anything else from them anymore I dont trust this brand anymore. I did pre-order the s24 ultra and I got a screen with 4 horizontal bars on low light and grainy with mura effect. samsung refused to change the phone and made a screen replacement for a 3 days old phone, and I still get the same issues with the new screen. SAMSUNG IS OVER FOR ME I will never support this brand.
@techmo I can get the S24 with SD imported, including tax etc for the same price as the S23? I plan to use the device for a longer period, but I use the phone a lot in the dark with the lowest brightness. Is the grain annoying? What should I choose S23 or S24?
S24 snapdragon is amazing. The graininess is not annoying on S24 for me but it is on S24 Ultra. Between S24 EX and S23 I would pick S23. I'm running a test now and will publish it this week.
I don't know Why I kept Preferring S23 Series Over S24 series before even it was Launched. And an irony is that, I don't own one but has been planning to get one soon.
I got my s24 exynos preordered with a heavy discount (74% of current price). s24 is not worth paying for full price considering that its almost identical to s23 sd. For me id choose s23 now as the preorder discounts are gone and its basically cheaper.
Hey i bought exynos variant and was unhappy with the signal strength and battery life. I was marely getting 5 hours screen on time which is okaish but not good enough. So i sold my s24 exynos variant and bought a snapdragon variant which luckily i got for the same price. Now here is my take: ITs 40C at my place here in may and both of the phones run hot NOT warm, they both got hot if you are not in Air conditioner. The battery life is margianlly better but not by much. Even using data connections i can safely say, exynos version was more than capable . Thirdly i am noticing so much noise in pictures as compared to exynos version. I really miss the exynos for images, I swear snapdragon is too noisy indoors. Forthly the display, YES The display, Hdr seems to be working bad on snapdragon variant on youtube, It feels like the colors are not as vibrant ( even after turning vividness slider to top ) its not comparable to exynos variant. I think both exynos and snapdragon has their weaknesses. And i am sure no one is going to talk about it. Exynos is not bad, rather it gets more frequent bug fixes as compared to snapdragon
I like your honest reviews which no other youtubers told, even though I currently use base s24 global version. I chose it because I got promos that made it cheaper than base 23. For now, my significant complain is One UI 6.1 which I prefer my old phone's 5.1. Since I came from an old midrange device, perhaps my own standard is pretty low to complain my new s24 lol.
Very honest review. We need more honest people like him. Can u also do a pixel 8 pro review? That has an even worse tensor cpu ehich is worse than ex 2400
One observation I've made regarding the quality of the screen of my s24 compared to my s21 fe is that the latter is much sharper and better looking. And I'm not talking about the colour saturation that was fixed with the update. Still even with the new update and the new slider cranked up, the s21fe looks more vivid and vibrant. What bothers me the most is with watching videos, say yourube, I notice a blur on moving objects like people's head with the s24 that is clearly not there with the s21fe. I wonder if it has someting to do with the adaptiv refresh rate and asked myself if the fixed rate of 120hz on the s21fe and in general is superior for video quality.
Sounds like bending issues to me, check this Samsung forum post: us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S24/S24-Display-Quality-amp-AOD-Missing-Options/td-p/2787203/page/225
Thank you! Actually your exynos vs snapdragon comparison was brutally excellent. I bought the s24 (Europe) after 7 years with S7, yes. I feel the upgrade, but I regret not buying the s23 with snapdragon. Keep up the good work!
@@alexandruciordas4941 Snapdragon doesn't ship to Europe, you have to have sb in USA/Canada/China to buy it for you. And even then , you don't have a warranty in Europe...
In my country, the S24 has an Exynos processor and has 128GB of RAM for the starting model. I had an S22 Plus, but I sold it and bought an S23 with 256GB of storage for half the price of the S24.
They probably rushed the project a bit too much. If they spent another year fine tuning the product there wouldn't be issues that still need to be resolved.
Going from S23 Ultra to the S24+ with a trade in deal... I was extremely upset when i realise it didnt have a Snapdragon 2 let alone 3. I am selling it this week and going away from Samsung now. Havent since the S2. But time to get a gaming phone because if Flagships cant run Warzone. And my S10+ did no issues. Then something is seriously wrong
I'm a loyal Samsung Galaxy Note user but I can't even justify buying the last gen S23 Ultra for myself at about Rm4000 here in Malaysia. Don't know what happened with Samsung prices but they don't drop in value nowadays. I bought my Note 8 at around RM1800 a year after it launched with the price tag of RM4500. Bought my Note 20 (imported from Korea for the Snapdragon chipset) for RM2500 when it launched for around RM3900 a year before. Current gen I'm jumping to Oneplus 12. Gonna miss the S-Pen but oh well.
So it seems like people didn't complain for nothing when it comes to exynos version, well then i made my mind and surely won't buy an exynos version especially knowing that in other countries for the same price or even cheaper you can get snapdragon version, what a bummer..
I am rocking the base model s24, I have had no issues with it and am very happy coming from a pixel 6 pro. I thought that you were nitpicking and overly critical, but the pictures do not lie, and the phone does have its issues. Great video. Keep up the great work!
Honestly, its ALWAYS like this with brand new phones. There are always issues in the first few month, always TH-camrs complaining about it with videos like "THE TRUTH" or "DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY", and aways almost all of them get fixed. (Because usually most issues are software/ optimisation problems). Dont get me wrong, you did a good job with that video and I also think, things like that stuff you mentioned shouldnt get through quality control, but its been like this every single year over and over again, not just with Samsung but with Apple aswell, and Im tired of getting upset about it, so I just accepted it and always wait for the software updates :D
"Grumpy and complainy" is good. Means you discover issues with the device that user is also like to encounter, and you spread awareness. All those super positive "this is the best phone ever" TH-camrs don't really tell anything of value about the device in their reviews. Like you said, they are just advertising it.
Nice review very informative. I have my Samsung S9+ for over 7 years and 2 weeks ago my 9-months-old baby dig his tiny butt into the screen while we were watching Baby Shark and it started flashing. It still works but the led screen are not turning on. If I used my finger to unlocked it will vibrate or if somebody call me it will ring but I can't answer it because of the black screen. Now I'm on TH-cam trying to absorb all of useful info about Samsung S24+ because I order it and it is hefty amount of money. Despite how expensive it is I must say Samsung for me are very reliable. I am pretty clumsy and I drop my S9+ maybe 20x a day. Even fell off my pocket while running and stayed in rainy grass for a week and it was still alive. The battery of that phone for me is also nice. It gets me through the day with me taking notes for class, using it as mp3, youtube videos, hour of meditation and it dies before I even fall asleep. I think it survive because of me I made sure to always let it dies all the way. Then completely charge it with my powerbank in lower input/output bank. I have had iPhone 1x and that's all it took me to get turn off from that brand. Sure iPhone are easy to use, trendy, the iTunes are really nice so for and on but it's just boring and the battery to price ration for me is so-so. I have my iPhone only for 2 years and I regret it for 1.5 year I own it opposed to Samsung I own for 7+ years and I enjoy it from the moment I own it to the moment my little angel sat on it🤣
Good for you, honestly the only reason I bought the new s24+ is because of the higher screen resolution just to find out that I would be one of the people experiencing this grainy display :) 😅 SUCKS TO BE ME :)
@@anton_. The grainy display is only an s24 ultra issue because of the anti glare screen if I've understood correctly. The S24+ SD is the perfect phone imo but there is no S24+ SD where I live. Would rather get a battery replacement for my s10+ exynos because it still holds out well
@@ggeorge02 yet my s24+ have a grainy display, and I think theres plenty of articles and sources in the web that supports that its more of a display issue rather than the material.
I am your fan watching your video in Hong Kong. You've been uploading some very interesting videos over the past few weeks. I wish this influence to create small changes. Btw, I have one question. Which model do you prefer, S23 or S24 Exynos? (normal) And what is the difference in battery performance between the two?
I have the plus and it's been freezing while playing one particular game though I don't play many. More frustratingly, though, it'll randomly lose internet connection while I'm out and about on Mobile Data. I've never had this happen with a Samsung device before. I temporarily switched to my Pixel 8 and had ZERO issues with the game and internet connection but the screen is too small for me to keep using. I was even sent a refurbished Plus device that did the exact same thing. This was supposed to be an "upgrade" from my S22 Plus but I feel like I actually downgraded.
Hey! Good video describing the problems of the S24 series! I wouldn't count the display saturation as a bug or problem. Because the display is probably less saturated by design. Samsung users complain about a less vivid screen, because they are used to extremely unnatural vivid displays. Samsung did go for a more natural look. So even after the February patch on my S24U I still use the vivid setting with the slider to the left. It looks like before the update. The display calibration is nice, can't complain there and I can't relate to the critics. Also you are completely right. It is more important to deliver a good product to keep users. Not hunting for one time sales and then loosing customers, because the product doesn't deliver. I think many issues you showed us in your extremely good exynos comparisons (for real: thank you for the quality content) aren't important or noticeable for the average smartphone user. They will think exynos runs fine. But the ki features are so unimpressive and first gen like, people will probably not use AI on the AI phone and not buying an AI phone again.
You are so right ! I have the S24 ultra for a week now and i dont understand how they use this display is really bad, grainy wash up colors!! Shame on u Samsung
Thank you for your detailed comparisons between the S23 and the S24. In Europe, it makes no sense to buy the Exynos S24 for full price over the heavily discounted Snapdragon S23. I just upgraded to an S23 from my aging S10e and couldn't be happier. Keep up the good work!
They mainly broke sales records because the pre order offers were thr best in samsung history. Normaly it takes atleast half a year before they reach those prices. I was close to buying a phone myself.
None of the big reviewers mentioned shutter lag. The main reason (not that there aren't many other problems present) I gave up on Samsung. And many of people I know did. All those buildings and flowers in "honest" reviews are fine, but blurry unusable pictures of anything with even slight movement, on 2024. flagship (just like on any other previous Samsung) - that should not be acceptable.
Second comment about the S24 Ultra: i am really unimpressed by the camera. I did make a private comparison between my oneplus 7 pro of 2019 with Google Camera Mod and the S24 Ultra. With the main camera and good daylight both make pretty similar 12 megapixel pictures. But i like the oneplus google cam photos better, because of the more detailed, realistic and cold look. Also i really dont like that the s24u main camera has 24mm. All my photos look like taken from a (ultra) wide, its too wide for me. Thats something no one talks about. 26mm would be much more suitable. At least the zoom cameras are awesome, pure gold.
I was about to buy the S24U through the samsung shop when I came across your video and that saved my life and wallet for real. How come Samsung makes the best displays for iPhones and other android brands but can't afford to put the same quality onto their own phone display ? For 1.5k euros that's not the quality I am expecting from such a huge brand...
If Samsung wants to increase its market share, it has to put the focus on what it was (a hardware business) more than in what it tried to be (a software corporation). You cannot sell the "same device" 4 years in a row (S21, S22, S23 & S24), because customers aren't stupid. The recipe to success is easy: best screen, best cameras, best battery life & Snapdragon. You can change ingredients, but it won't work. Lg never got it and now is out of business. Plus, you can offer appetizing features as other oems do: Kunlun Glass for durability, software longevity, variable aperture/zoom, a shiny cool trick... In my opinion, Apple is taking that much market share thanks to Samsung's lack of innovation/quality, and not in spite of Samsung's hard work. Great video, again!
Love how people go on about the Exynos, yet in day-to-day use, you will never notice it! Then there's your misinformation about the screen. Samsung actually said it was more muted for a more true-to-life experience. I came from the S23 Ultra to the S24 Ultra, and I preferred the muted look of the S24 Ultra. Then you go on about Wi-Fi 7. Really? To make Wi-Fi 7 feasible, you need a router, etc. And how many providers provide a Wi-Fi 7 router? The Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, but the bottom line is if you don't like the phone, send it back! I have used the phone since its release date and previously had the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6 Pro, Fold 3, S22 Ultra, S23 Ultra, and S21 Ultra, and I really struggle to see where you're coming from.
No your not complaining. This is a flagship device, that means the The compromises should be minimal if none at all every metric of a device screen camera battery processing should all be top-notch
I have the Exynos version, it’s been great, no overheating or freezing, and the benchmarks are almost the same as the snapdragon! Exynos of old was definitely a problem but seems to be fixed now! But I will say that we should have got the snapdragon in all regions! Anyway very happy 👍

Good for $700 is a good phone s23
Don't give up, I love your work ! Your reviews are real and they have to be so; the public really needs them...
I have the base Snapdragon S24, I'm pissed they capped the WiFi7 feature, I hope to enable that feature later on with a software!
i know ur mad but wifi 7 is not even popular and barely rolling out its basically a useless feature wifi 6 and 6e are more reliable so theres nothing really to be mad about because it wont really affect you
@@emi_0311 I'm mad because I got a WiFi7 Router and bought a S24 because I read It will have Wifi7, I spent 2 days trying to get my S24 work with wifi7 until I found out they capped that feature in the Base and plus model, Wifi7 only works with the S24 Ultra. My S24 has the Snapdragon Gen 3 Chip, and that chip is totally capable of Wifi7, they that restricted that feature by software.

@@mysticz5478 nope, I dont have that issue, my screen is perfectly ok.
Tips for spending money wisely when it comes to tech products :
-Dont buy the product immediately no matter how excited you are
-Watch several reviews ( balanced reviews not from one region) , looks like USA TH-camrs focus more on building their channels while releasing cosmetic reviews 😅
Has anyone had problems like this?
the thing is that the average consumer doesnt really care, not like us tech nerds
i consider myself an average consumer, I use my phone for social media, taking pictures, some apps (like editing pic and videos) 2 or 3 not heavy games. Other than the battery draining faster on Exynos 2400, which is the only one available in my country, do you think there is anything else that will deter me from buying the S24 plus?
After doing all these, you are not an average user.

Large TH-camrs who get sponsored by large companies for their products have their hands tied. Additionally large "reviewers" are not enthusiast enough - they are simply "influencers" who cater to the "aVerAgE cUsTomER".
They are simply not critical enough with their assessment and brands like Samsung just get away with this.

S24 snapdragon is amazing. The graininess is not annoying on S24 for me but it is on S24 Ultra. Between S24 EX and S23 I would pick S23. I'm running a test now and will publish it this week.

Great to see how honest you are, we all as costumers really appreciate that.
Hey i bought exynos variant and was unhappy with the signal strength and battery life. I was marely getting 5 hours screen on time which is okaish but not good enough. So i sold my s24 exynos variant and bought a snapdragon variant which luckily i got for the same price. Now here is my take:
ITs 40C at my place here in may
and both of the phones run hot NOT warm, they both got hot if you are not in Air conditioner.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I like your honest reviews which no other youtubers told, even though I currently use base s24 global version. I chose it because I got promos that made it cheaper than base 23. For now, my significant complain is One UI 6.1 which I prefer my old phone's 5.1. Since I came from an old midrange device, perhaps my own standard is pretty low to complain my new s24 lol.

S24 exynos in India costs 970 USD 💀
Sounds like bending issues to me, check this Samsung forum post:

I'm a loyal Samsung Galaxy Note user but I can't even justify buying the last gen S23 Ultra for myself at about Rm4000 here in Malaysia. Don't know what happened with Samsung prices but they don't drop in value nowadays. I bought my Note 8 at around RM1800 a year after it launched with the price tag of RM4500.

Well done with your analysis, it's been by far the best I've seen on youtube. Samsung never seem to learn.

I agree with you 100%. I have tried the S24U, the S24+, and the S24, and the upgrade is not worthwhile if you are upgrading from the S23 series.
To be fair, it's almost never worth upgrading just one year later.
I'd argue every 3 years outside of New features the difference is minimal.
That's just a waste of money to upgrade a new phone every year. Common sense should tell you it's not worth the upgrade.

Second comment about the S24 Ultra:
i am really unimpressed by the camera.

I am looking for a compact phone
Which one should I go for S23 or s24 ?
S23 with 256gb
I have the option to buy s24 exynos for only 40 euro more than s23. Which one should i choose?
No your not complaining. This is a flagship device, that means the The compromises should be minimal if none at all every metric of a device screen camera battery processing should all be top-notch
Usually Samsung have really good displays, they and LG are the main screen makers. Samsung use to make the screens for the Apple phones.
