I’ve never bothered to leave comments on a TH-cam review but had to write to say thanks for such a comprehensive review. Easy to listen too, really enjoyable and without doubt the most engaging and “personal” review on the internet! (I’ve just sent an email to my dealer asking for a p/x price for my Bobber Black and a test drive). Thank you. 20 minutes well spent!
As someone who, years ago, spent 3 years, (1980's), as a London Despatch Rider it is really refreshing to watch someone who knows how to ride/filter London traffic and gets the job done. On the rare occassions I ride in London these days I even see 125cc scooters sitting in traffic queues.

The common thing in all Rocket 3 reviews, is that the first time any rider has the chance to open the throttle, they start laughing. That is the reason to buy this bike if such interests you - to have some of those laughs of your own.
Well said Tim. It's addictive. I couldn't care less for scratching...but open her up on a nice straight stretch of road and grin away....my kinda bike....
Just rode one myself, NOT hype !!! No it's not perfect but damn it's close. Not the smoothest suspension ever, ie; not as good as an Indian but better than my Road King. So much torque coming from such a smooth engine, so little drama when you overtake and plenty of braking power when you need it. With such a big tyre front and back, the biggest surprise was its agility, more than just good. Fit and finish is top notch and it is perhaps the lack of need for anything extra that makes it good value too, apart from bags it has everything you need and enough power that only a select few will find a need to fiddle with the engine. Your review encouraged me to go ride one, it is light years ahead of the old model and has made it to the top of my list. I'm a die hard V twin fan and had the new Indian Darkhorse Springfield lined up as my next purchase, familiar but better, much better than my Harley but this, this is just awesome.
I sold my Thunderbird to a Triumph fan, who rode his Rocket III out to look at it. He let me take the Rocket for a spin. That thing absolutely warped Time and Space. Little babies became old men.
so you are stating that it is extremely slow, as in that movie with Mr. Bean waiting for a ride and sees someone in the distance, but by time that guy gets there, his bike is moving at the pace of a slower walk. that would be the only time little babies became old men.

Very good, comprehensive, coverage of this great bike! Watched a lot of the reviews, on this machine , this is the best!. Hope to have one of these bikes soon! Keep up the good work.

I have a big heavy 4x4 land rover disco that weighs 1,854kg with a 2ltr engine with 180 torque. This bike has a 2.5ltrs engine with 210 torque. A fraction of the weight of my car and way more power... incredible 😳
Great review. Most impressed with your eye for the details of the bike. All those little details - centre cap on rear wheel, T logo on radiator guard, drilled holes on bar end caps - all these things add up to a whole and Triumph quality is getting better and better yr on yr. Top job MOTOBOB.
This is the second time in my life that I'm in love with a bike. First time was with the Kawasaki Z1 back in 1972. I like the Red Rocket 3 R my self but for £20K I will have to wait a few years till I can buy a second hand one.
What a beautiful bike... If I lived in a country with nice roads, good quality tarmac and not so much traffic, I'd consider buying one of those for cruising around.
yeah I love my 2017 Rocket Roadster! Cant see myself making the leap either. My favorite thing about the new one is the single swing arm and the overall look! But as far as the ride I don't think it will be much different at least not 15,000 different lol.
actually, what's the feeling when you stay at stop light and your cc engine is equal to the engine from your left side plus the engine from your right side?
Makes me wish I was young again, the 3 cylinder Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 of the 1960s and 1970s had heaps of power and they too were relatively quiet but that 3 cylinder hum is captivating. Now this beast has twice the engine capacity it must be wonderful to ride out on the open road. They can keep their Harleys British is still the best.
Saw the R live yesterday. Sat on it, dreamt about it and seriously thought about selling my 2008 Rocket Touring to deposit the GT. Still fighting with the thought of all that money, on a bike 🤪
The problem I have is that the GT is just isn't touring-ish enough. I don't want to give up my big windshield, lowers and big lockable panniers. Triumph should get on with making a real tourer around this engine. Make something that is as agile as the BMW tourers and still beats the Gold Wing at its own game, built around a huge engine with all the torque.
@@cr0ft-2k Wait a while. The original Rocket came on the market relatively basic. Then the Touring came a few years later. This bike is long enough for everything you mention above. There will definately be aftermarket stuff flooding the market soon. The bike could wear a screen and still look cool. There are already 20 liter side bins for it, albeit made of pliable material and not rigid. My dealer has the TFC Rocket on show, number 380. Bought by a guy in Frankfurt. Wonderfully done and a real eye-catcher. They are offering finance on the bike for 3,5% for up to 96 months. Even without the interest, for the GT, it's still over 200 bucks per month. Not everyone who will bye this bike will like it. It's big and heavy, and if you're not experienced, fu*#ing scary. My Rocket Touring has over 380 kilos, wet weight. Any uncomfortable heat from the exhaust on your right leg ? Best looking bike they made was the Triumph Trophy late 90's to early 2000's. The triple 900 or the 4 cylinder 12. Just horrible carburetor problems and constantly adjusting drive chain yuk

A great review, there are certain bikes and cars that I have owned in the past that gives you that certain feeling when you climb on or get in - I can’t describe it really other than it feeling like an event - the bike I personally I’m on about is a Honda CBX which had a six into one exhaust and sounded epic and the other being a 6.2 V8 C 63 Mercedes - again it sounded epic and they both felt like an event - you can’t beat it !! 2:55 I was going to point out this , right before I got to this marker:At least 85% of Feature shots of bikes with right hand exhaust are of the right side of the bike , almost invariably , the percentage is probably higher.By comparison, the left side is usually so boring and sometimes outright unappealing period. The left side looks ok on this bike but they should design exhaust configurations so that they exit on both sides of the bike, some Twin Cruisers have this feature, and of course bikes like FJR's , Gold Wings, inline fours in general, have or often have this balanced dual exhaust configuration.
Can you get it up onto the center stand? Is there a procedure for standing it up if it falls over? How easy is it to change the oil and the filter? Can you actually see the oil level? Can you set the cruise control and go drink a cup of coffee and read the newspaper on the back seat like I can on Brunhilda? So many unanswered questions.
Great review as ever, be interested in a direct comparison review with the Ducati Diavel. Those rear foot pegs are a masterpiece of design. Where I must disagree is on the TFT dash. I rode the Scrambler with that dash and I'm afraid I found the important information just too small to read. I'm a glasses wearer who needs distance glasses to ride but reading glasses for close up, must be loads of old guys like me like that.
I agree that the information on a lot of motorcycle dash boards is too small if you need reading glasses. I tend to put on aftermarket clocks and ambient temperature gauges as the stock ones are too much of a faff to try and read - especially on the move.
Picked up my new Rocket GT last week and put 400 miles on it. The only fly in the ointment is that the list of devices that are compatible with the $900 bluetooth module is extremely limited. The only two Android phones are the S8 and S9, both of which have been discontinued by Samsung. My headset, the Sena SRL Neotec 11, is also not compatible. The dealer, Mosites in North Versailles, PA has refunded me both the price of the bluetooth component and the labor involved in installing it. Excellent Customer Service at Mosites. Triumph After Sales in Atlanta was very supportive and coordinated with the dealer. In addition, they are going to escalate the problem with Triumph UK. Be careful if you need the bluetooth! Otherwise, its the best bike that I have ever ridden!
wow what a beauty the black version its so wicked i love big bike that why i owned a KAWASAKIi GT 1400 i like the torque i saw on your video 2.5 liter bigger than a regular car that a bike for me.ride safe mate
Nice looking bike ,wonder what servicing and running costs will be like ? Will it suffer with the dreaded selector shaft issues that seem to be plaquing the liquid cooled Bonnies.
I think its a beauty especially the chrome tanked model. I agree they r too quiet but it sounds alot like my 75 t160 trident. I know these are totally new bikes but they make them close in look to classic triumph but you dont have to worry about oil leaks and getting stranded
They've shaved off lots of weight, and the old generation Rocket already feels lighter than it has any right to. It's beautifully balanced, get any Rocket up above walking speed and it's like riding any other bike, cornering is easy and stable, they just handle very well - especially for the size. I'm not surprised this is probably even better, they did peel off quite a bit of weight - surprising amounts of it really - and they already had the balance thing down pat. The big lump of an engine is low in the frame so the center of gravity is low, so it's only when you drop it and it starts to lean that you really notice that there's a fair bit of mass involved.
Where'd this guy learn to ride? Which side of the bike to mount? What do the 4 wheelers think of him? And what's w/ the lane markings in London? Anybody observe them?
Good review.! From a technical standpoint the 2.5L triple is stellar. The finishing looks great too. But, for a touring bike there is some critical components missing. I would like to see more storage and wind protection before deeming this bike tour worthy.
If you rode the centre line here (NZ) in the city..you would get a nudge and face plant from someone just for getting ahead. Totally miss UK courtesy on the roads.
Same here- I had a VTX1800 in 'illusion blue' which I loved. Later a Harley Nightrain with ugly 'vintage blue' paint, that I HAD to repaint with the same 'illusion blue'. Later Harley came out with an exact paint match to mine, that they call 'Cobalt Blue'. I won't take the hit buying brand new, but when I do find my R3 GT in a year or more, You know it's gonna transform straight to cobalt blue. Radiator shroud and a few other pieces also have to turn satin black. This bike could look great in some non-generic colors!...… You know Triumph has to be holding back with some: paint colors/touring pieces/exhaust mods/etc....
Triumphs are far more comfortable than any Harley but I'll stick with my Speedmaster. I'd love all the bells and whistles on this one but it's more bike than I can use. Great video!
They're really very easy to live with on a day to day basis. I'm not trying to sell you one, just saying that they're motorcycles, like any other bike. Easy to ride (especially this one with traction control and electronics), well balanced, and very comfortable going down the road, no histrionics. I've seen women - normal sized women - riding the older generation, and this is easier. So it's really not necessarily too much bike for anyone - except of course it's not exactly cheap.
I had dinner, opened TH-cam saw your review , got impressed , I rushed to the dealership bought it immediately I felt happy and then I woke up.
One day you will save enough to buy this bike and wake up on delivery day...

The new Rocket has two exhaust nozzles on the right side and one on the left.
Just a tip. Small end of mirrors in. Better vis and narrower for filtering. Cheers NZ ROG.
There's no centre stand.
Great video love the speed triple tbh but looks a nice bike...question tho what helmet is that?

Great review as ever, be interested in a direct comparison review with the Ducati Diavel. Those rear foot pegs are a masterpiece of design. Where I must disagree is on the TFT dash. I rode the Scrambler with that dash and I'm afraid I found the important information just too small to read. I'm a glasses wearer who needs distance glasses to ride but reading glasses for close up, must be loads of old guys like me like that.
That’s a fair point. Worked fine for me but I guess not for everyone
I wear distance glasses to ride but don't have an issue with the dash on my Scrambler 1200 XC … Everyone's different !
@@paulharrison8155 As my mrs says, I would just prefer things to be a little bigger
I agree that the information on a lot of motorcycle dash boards is too small if you need reading glasses. I tend to put on aftermarket clocks and ambient temperature gauges as the stock ones are too much of a faff to try and read - especially on the move.
@@Jaffa1951 Glad is not just me Geoff, one of the better clearer ones I've seen are on the BMW GS.
I didn’t realize the road rules were so lax in the U.K. 😂 Great video, nice bike. Thanks!
There's nothing lax about the speed camera's everywhere.
I guess you mean filltering that you call lane splitting if your American Well it is legal in the U K as it should be everywhere
Elephants Memory so you can drive between vehicles? That’s awesome!

Dude, enjoyed your review style. Pls review the 2020 Ducati Diavel s. Maybe do a comparison with this Rocket 3 🙏🏽
wow what a beauty the black version its so wicked i love big bike that why i owned a KAWASAKIi GT 1400 i like the torque i saw on your video 2.5 liter bigger than a regular car that a bike for me.ride safe mate
In the sixties, it was the Triumph Trident and the BSA Rocket. Of course, they were nearly the same. The engines were transverse.
Where is this made?
Thailand.
There needs to be some comparison reviews between this bike and the Ducati XDiavel S. I find it strange that I have only come across one on TH-cam.
Much better looking than the old one , great job Truimph its price is ok compaired to Hardley Movin Sons .
I know these are totally new bikes but they make them close in look to classic triumph but you dont have to worry about oil leaks and getting stranded
when i was 6 or 7 my dad bought one of these. i have fond memories on the back of this bike
Thank you for such a great review.
I have wanted one of these for so long.
Unfortunately does not appear to be available in Thailand.
Weird, considering it's made in Thailand.
I have a 1998 HD Road Glide and a 2010 K1300GT, I don't need another bike but buy oh boy if I did I'd know EXACTLY what I'd be buying!!
Love Triumphs. I own a 02 Daytona and the triple is unbeatable for exhaust note.
Great review. I just got my GT and I agree with most everything to said. #Rocket3Lovers
Fantastic video amazing bike looking forward to seeing more videos 👍
Where'd this guy learn to ride? Which side of the bike to mount? What do the 4 wheelers think of him? And what's w/ the lane markings in London? Anybody observe them?
Excellent as always!
Keep up the good work.
Thank you
My pleasure!
Good review.! From a technical standpoint the 2.5L triple is stellar. The finishing looks great too. But, for a touring bike there is some critical components missing. I would like to see more storage and wind protection before deeming this bike tour worthy.
Torque, Horsepower
Great geometry
Need I say more
PERIOD!
Art: you forgot to mention the various electronic drive aids that cut much of the beautiful torque and the hp.
Insurance cost ???? Same weight as a HD FatBob ? Great video thanks.
Rocket III needs a Union Jack tank paint job. Waiting for the new turbo kits to come out.
Flag of Thailand would be more apt as that's where they're all made. Isn't globalisation wonderful. Think I'll stick with my Vmax.
If you rode the centre line here (NZ) in the city..you would get a nudge and face plant from someone just for getting ahead. Totally miss UK courtesy on the roads.
Excellent review once again Bob! Thanks. Those rear foot pegs are ingenious! Why hasn't it been done already?
I believe MV Agusta have something similar on the dragster but not quite as neat. Triumph did a proper good job on those
@@motobob Perhaps a pillion review next if you can find anyone brave enough? 👍
@@TheGreatestBeyonder haha brave indeed!
what are the bikes today a computer or bike and who is really driving the bike.
i really hope Triumph provide blue color for Rocket 3 (scramble 1200 Cobalt Blue) i really thinking re-paint rocket3 to blue if i buy one.
I want one. I have not seen it irl yet. How do you think it fit a taller person?
I'm not that tall at 6 foot 3 - but both versions are comfortable for me.
This machine is a beauty, a moving work of art.
A lot of big cruiser bikes are stuck in the past with old cliche designs. This is an amazing step forward. Such a unique exciting design.
