2022 Rocket 3 GT (Triple Black) and it is a big, powerful bike that is surprisingly comfortable. Fun as hell to ride. Torque for days. Fair review. Many owners get the quick shifter and the GT has heated grips as standard equipment. I don't get the head bobble you spoke about. The bike does corner surprisingly well at speed which is fun to pull off. It has road presence. This bike attracts a lot of attention.
My Rocket 3 r i keep in my living room! That will tell you how much i like my rocket 3r red bike. Its fun to look at and fun to polish. Ive had lots of bikes but none of them came into my house .
Hi Kate, I've had my GT for 3yrs daily ride, no front end wobble, in fact it's the most planted bike I've ever had. My only gripe with it is the tank capacity, it should be a 22 litre and not 18 litre. Using it daily I'm always filling up and if out with others I can fill up twice to their once 🤷
The bike is a conversation starter, quite a few people will come up and ask about it. Invariably they always say they used to ride bikes when they were younger, and maybe they will ride again.
I love my 2020 Rocket 3 R and I too feel very satisfied after riding it. My only problem is after riding, it takes maybe sixty minutes to wipe the grin off my face! And finally, you are the queen of the road! Cracking good video!
I had an 07 Classic that I adored. It was a monster of a thing, and felt far more like a giant chunk of industrial machinery. This new one (22 GT) is such an excellent evolution. They are absolute conversation starters haha.
@@richard7059 I only sold my Classic because I was rear-ended by a bus and caught the bike one handed. I did a *lot* of soft tissue damage as a result and simply couldn't ride it anymore. Otherwise I'd still have it today. It took 10yrs before I could ride another big cruiser. I had a B-King and a Hayabusa in the meantime, and really wanted another cruiser but nothing stood out. I have the GT with R bars and foot pegs. The GT has heated grips as standard. Absolutely love the bike, the more you ride it the more you want to ride it. It’s kept me off my Suzuki GSX S1000 since I got it. Your summary of the bike is spot on even the wee head shake which doesn’t bother me.
I agree 100% in what you say Kate - in fact a Rocket 3 is the most fun I've had in a motorway situation. On the old Rocket 3 roadster you had to knock it down a gear to fourth, but the throttle response was instant and brutal. Very addictive.
I recall half fancying a Triumph Daytona 900, 20 years ago, but bought a Thunderace YZF 1000r, otherwise Triumph has not even been on my radar until this stunning looking machine appeared. Currently in love with my KTM 1290 SDR, but each week passes and the desire for the Rocket 3R increases. Great review Kate
Over 70,000 miles on my Rocket 3 and she is correct, the seat is amazingly comfortable. Also the handling is great as well, forget other cruisers I have passed way more sports bikes than have passed me. A very good rider on a liter sports bike, yea they will pass me. Never experienced the little bit of wobble you speak of and i have been up to 140 mph on it.
2023 Rocket 3 GT - torque, torque, torque and when you think it´s at it´s end there is even more 🙂 Seatingcomfort is great - even my T120 (an absolutely comfy bike) doesn´t play in the same league. Front brake - feels spongy on the lever but you soon find out that if it would be direct you´d fly off cos the brakes stop the Rocket in a split second if necessary - never had better brakes. The Rocket is so accessible and after a while rides like a moped. On the downside we´ve heat - i burned my right thigh and calf several times (even on days like today with a mere 17 degrees C). If someone buying the GT means business for touring it doesn´t. When you fill up you get 300 KM (186 miles as range but you´re ending up at the next gas station (given you find one hopefully) after 222 KM (roughly 135 miles) every time if ridden with consumption in mind. If you rush things you´ll see the yellow light much, much earlier. Adding to the calculation tyres (don´t last long), service, insurance, loss in value in case of resale (a niche bike in a niche market) buying a Rocket 3 is a very tricky situation. As a recent owner of the 2021 Triple Black limited edition GT model, I have to say I agree with most of what you say and absolutely love the bike. I haven't really noticed the shimmy you mentioned going over bumps, I have to admit it doesn't like pot holes but it's never given me reason for concern. It handles way better than you'd ever imagine, changes direction easily and likes to lean. The GT comes as standard with the heated grips and I'm having the quick shifter fitted during its yearly service this weekend. It sure does attract attention and without exception every passing rider has nodded, waved or acknowledged my passing regardless of what bike they're riding. I've called mine Black Beauty due to her blacked out features and the fact she likes a good gallop. Once you've ridden one your spoiled, nothing else quite hits the same spot. Apart from my other beast the Kawasaki ZZR1400 Performance Sport, it's equally thrilling and has longer legs when it comes to a race to the finish line 😀
Two years on, I still love my red heifer. It makes me feel like queen of the road too! 😂 I did option up the quickshifter and heated grips as well. You really, really need to try one with a QS. I find after a couple of hours in the saddle, it’s not great. But then I weigh approximately 2.5 Kates, so that might play into it…😊 nice vid, well done as usual. 👍🏻
Love my Rocket. Got air filter sorted, waiting on dr. jekill and mr. hyde exhaust, then will get ECU sorted. Also totally agree on how it makes you feel while riding it.. COOL is such an understatement! It's a unique ride, and a unique motorcycle to boost, and it's been so flawlessly executed that I wish summer never ended! And another thing I'd like to add, your review is probably the most accurate on utube, and I'm sad enough to mention it, coming from a girl, that's quite telling! The Rocket doesnt make you feel like a boss, it does it because you ARE! You go girl!!! Even my R has got the heated grips AND the quickshifter/blipper. And even a sissybar for the girlfriend! Add an evotech tail-tidy and some wunderkind accessories like blinkers and clutch- and brake controls.. It doesnt get much sexier than that! That is something you forgot to mention, but showed brilliantly in the video; the presence of the bike! And how everyone and their dogs look at it. The attention you get is pretty.. special I guess! If you're an introvert, then that bike is not for you! Everyone stops and looks at it! BTW, you can do the quickshifter/blipper and heated grips aftermarket, from Triumph. All accessories are interchangeable between the R and GT. I got the R, but it's pretty much a GT by now despite handlebars and mid-controls. Friggin' love it!
Jip. If I had the money, I'd have one. For less money I got a R1200GS and a RnineT in the garage. Both second hand though... Maybe in a few years the Rocket will drop in price far enough to tempt me. One can only hope. Nice review! Keep 'em coming!!!
I own a 2020 Rocket 3 GT and like you said i feel badass when i ride it , its just a monster of a bike your rarely see it on roads so people will come often talking to me about my motorcycle such a blast great fun, the torque is just addicting power everywhere best bike for me and ive been riding for forthy years every kind of bike from sports bike to cruiser.Ride safe girl.
Hi Kate, I had a GT having had an previous Rocket 111 but I sold it after a trip to Spain. It was a huge disappointment. My partner hated the pillion position. It handled appallingly two up and fully loaded. The huge rear tyre tracked in the lorry tyre indent on the inside of dual carriageways. It felt really unstable. In my opinion it was not fit for purpose as a Grand Tourer. Mine had heated grips and cruise control but every time you disengaged the cruise it slung her forward into my helmet!! I came back from the trip and sold it immediately. I bought a brand new Multistrada V4S which is chalk and cheese, she loves it and so do I and it handles way better than the GT. ( ps my old rocket was way better and that didn’t even have ABS! Simon
I just bought it 3 weeks ago as my first bike. And will keep it till the end. This bike was build for me. It's realy nimble for a beginner who has respect for power.
From an experienced rider of 40 yrs. Please be careful. Holy crap, a Rocket 3 for your first bike? You already bought it, so what's done is done. Remember, your right hand is what will kill you or keep you alive.
Hi Kate good to see you back riding. Can you tell me where you got the RAM type mounts for your cameras, in particular the bits that attach to your bars and any link for buying them please? 🙏
There missing a trick with it Kate , they should bring one out with some sort of nice fairing ( long time touring bike ) , great bike but at my age to heavy to handle 🤪😊👍
Think you need to get the rocket. Love my gt. That shake on the front wheel can be corrected by adjusting the front end suspension. My only bike. For now. Looking at the new triple r to add to her.
First saw one on the west coast of Wales, first impression was Wow ,what a wonderful bike, the engineering was outstanding, what a engine .l have always loved this type of bike, it's a little bit out of my price bracket sadly.
I saw my first Rocket 3 today and was surprised how small it was, with everyone spouting how big/heavy it is. I had a 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse (no fairing or bags) that weighed 103 lbs more than the R3. It's cute. I'll get one some day.
We have a Roadster bought new in 2012. Yes - feels like king of the road, never envy another bike. Would consider a new model just for the added safety features.
I have the gtr I love the comfort also the torque I also have the 54 plate rocket 111 they are so different to handle but my mates reckon I dont grin as much riding the gtr as I do riding the rocket 111 . If you do get one of these keep your eye on the back brake mine didnt work when I needed it the bike has been back twice for work on it
@@andrewmanning5763 Fair enough. Price is what keeps me from getting one. Doesn't stop me loving it though. Perhaps get one for a test ride and finance my life away regardless? 😆
Very nice video you made there Kate, pleasant listening and watching. I have a GT, and added the BT, and quickshift, problem solved. I fully agree to what you say; its a beast, and the pull is addictive. I can tell it is limited at 250KM/h standard (gps), approx 277 on the clock. Only short, because it applies more torque to the neck then willing to last for a while... :) I have a question for you (or other owners); if i let the grips go, the bike slightly pulls to the left, and i have to lean to the right in order to let it go straight. Been to the dealer, and he said ist normal on this bike. Is this true? Do more of you have this experience? Also wonder if anyone tried other tires on it, and what the outcome is? Thanks!
I got rid of my first Rocket 3R as it was a brilliant bike but it didn't scare me when opening her up but just bought another one GT model but going to get her tuned and de restricted I have changed the air filter and got a set of patriot exhausts just need the downpipes changing before the tune, should be around 190bhp then so may scare me a little then.
I agree with everything you said and more, but soon as you get it have the suspension set up by KAIS in atherton. Then the suspension will feel great 100 times better. £60 best ever spent.
I have the R too. Very comfy even after owning GTR’s for 10 years. Question to other owners, this is the second demo bike ive seen with what appears to have the mirrors upside down? That way round is niggling the heck out of me 😊. Great summary Kate. Nice to hear the engine properly without earplugs in.
From what I have seen, the R would probably be the one for me. I love the bike and would love to own one. Ive always been an in line 4 fan but there isnt anything not to like about the Rocket in my eyes. The weight is an issue and I wonder how hard is it to right it again if it goes down. The lower center of gravity should help in that respect. Thank you for your review. I enjoyed the ride and sound of it and your great explanations.
Love my Rocket 3R and agree with most of what you say. To me a quick shifter is not a requirement and the heated grips were fitted foc by the dealer. I do find people are always interested to come and have a look when stopped and generally end up saying ‘but it doesn’t corner does it’. Well it does, how do you think I ended up here - obviously they have never ridden one.
I am thinking of buying the Rocket 3 r Storm and asking the Triumph dealer to fit option heated grips. May I ask do they work reliably and are they effective?
@ Thank you for your very quick reply! I sat on the Rocket 3R Storm and the GT Storm in a showroom recently and I preferred the more dynamic riding position of the R but the steering and manoeuvrability did seem a little easier with the GT. A lot of reviewers seem to prefer the GT and say with the long reach to the bars on the R they have wrist and shoulder problems. Have you experienced any problems? Thank you again, hope you don’t mind all the questions! Old codger retired in SW France.
@@wakajawaka44 Hi. I have the R and periodically think about having the bars changed as I find it a stretch (I'm 5'-8"). I don't find any issues with steering etc. Didn't like the feet forward on the GT. I do think the R with the GT bars would be the ideal fit. Love the bike though. (retired codger in Lincolnshire, UK)
59,000 miles on my GT and I still get the shit eating grin when I peg the throttle. And no, you didnt peg the throttle in the video. And the price is just mid range for a Harley. Oh and I love the Rocket in the turn abouts, lots of fun. Mine has the quick shifter and heated grips too. Both worth the money.
Pity you didn't get to ride the GT. I was surprised you didn't/couldn't interchange the models with the other girls at the Triumph Film day. As far as looks are concerned, the GT is defo the model of my choice. Unfortunately, I only ever got to ride about a quick mile on a defunkt Air strip at a Dealership Exibition Weekend. I must admit though, I was tempted to go back after dark and nick it for a day or two! A very impressive muscle machine, that is sadly a lot bigger than the width of my wallet. So Kate, I really enjoyed, what am I me saying here... I lapped up every word, on all your four Rocket videos, one video after the other. T'was a really good review, expertly executed, and it was very obvious how much you also adored this monster! Now i'm off to bed, to drift away into dreamland and hope tomorrow morning there will be a Rocket GT standing in my garage with my name on it and maybe even a message saying "Have fun Steve, greets from Bolten, K"... 🙏. Well, we are all aloud our dreams, Right?
Good review. It’s nice to get a woman’s perspective: weight, height, reach and pragmatism - it’s a big bike in both power and weight. I’m seriously considering to acquire a 3R; initially I was interested in a Diavel. The Rocket build quality alone is a piece of art. I’m 6’2”, 220 lbs, and plan to use for urban riding / commuting. Hence, I’m leaning towards the 3R and not the GT. Just wondering, though, how well the 3R riding position performs on the occasional long distance trip. Options for heated grips, quick-shift assist and TPMS are available. However, I agree that they should be included at this price point.
Enjoyed that...i Have had two of these now...both GT's...my current one is the Triple Black. I'm wondering if the suspension had been adjusted on the bike youre riding in this video?..if not, it may be why you had some shaking coming thru.....I love this bike!..its my fourth Rocket and 7th Triumph and im going to say its the best Triumph ive owned.Heated grips are ok but if you want warm hands you cant beat heated gloves...the grips only warm the inside of your hands right?.....Once you have the suspension right it smooths the bike out a lot...carry on with the good reviews...shiny side up!
Great summary Kate I have the GT with R mid footpegs, remapped de restricted and the quickshifter is a game changer the best addition to put on a rocket, and you are bang on with your comment of how they make you feel 👌🫅
I feel the other way around than you about two things. The stock seat is not exactly comfortable in my opinion and i think its very stable. I never experienced head shake but i've only done about 5000km on it yet.
I have the R Black (Limited Edition) with the OEM quickshifter, flyscreen, pillion backrest and luggage rack. After 2 years and 18Tkm, I absolutely love the insane torque, the ergonomics, the design and the build quality. I usually cruise in 6th gear under 1500rpm and relax with the deep (not loud) rumble, but can also twist the throttle and leave practically any car in the dust. I don't like the short and stiff rear suspension on bumpy roads, the key fob being ostensibly out range when in my leather suit pocket and the inner fuel cap refusing to lock. I am concerned, as many owners, about the rear brake becoming spongy and needing a bleeding every few months. Overall it's a monumental motorcycle for experienced riders. By the way, Kate, are you sure the one you rode had a steering damper? Mine must have fell off when riding over a pothole ;)
Have you ridden the BMW K1600b. I know it’s a bagger but the torque is crazy. I don’t know if it’s as quick as the rocket but you might like to have a ride of one for comparison. Like the rocket it’s a beast size and weight wise but the way you handled the rocket it might be an interesting comparison for you. All the best. Great videos.
I've never been on a cruise or owned a Rocket because they're both things I don't think I'd like. For that reason I'd love to win a cruise or a Rocket so that I'd be forced into trying them for free!
Bought every Rocket they made over the years. I now have the R with a full Zard Exhaust and remap! Bloody unbelievably cool bike. I also have s GS like you, but it never gets a look in anymore. Great video. Lovin your work ❤

Add the air hawk seat cushion and it makes a world of a difference.
@@rocket3man371 I'll take a look!
Spin it up Kate, it does wonders for that turning circle 😂😂😂
This is the only bike that made my eye wander.
The literal definition of a CROTCH ROCKET! Mega video
Rocket III niggle - having to factor in an extra 10 minutes to every journey where you park up, to talk with old men 😁
Steady on !!! I'm one of them !! LOL
🤣@@sidscrote7570
I have the GT, can't stay off it. Best bike ever. Love your videos Kate, keep it up .
Best sales pitch ever.
Triumph should lend you a new one every time you ask.
Jip. If I had the money, I'd have one.
For less money I got a R1200GS and a RnineT in the garage. Both second hand though...
Maybe in a few years the Rocket will drop in price far enough to tempt me.
One can only hope.
Nice review!
Keep 'em coming!!!
The want is strong for this bike ! Great video Kate keep them coming babe ❤
WOW !!! YOU'RE SO LUCKY !!!
GREAT BIKE, THE BIGGEST MOTOR IN STOCK OF THE WORLD !!!!!
The seat is indeed comfy. The most comfy seat on any factory bike I have ridden.
Sounds like garage goals right there!! 😍
Hi Kate, adjusting the rear suspension will change corner entry and bumpy turns, eliminating headshake. best wishes dapper shaves
Is it safe to shave with a cutthroat on the pillion?
Good review. You do get it! You made me smile. From a 22 GT 221. Good riding.
Love mine Kate, it’s a event every ride 🤙
That was a very good, well edited, well voiced video.
Wow..The Rocket sounds fabulous, i want one! I'd need to get a garage first though to keep it in.
I own the GT, got the ECU flashed and mapped. Putting out about 206HP, 250LB NM torque. Extra 500 RPM. Top speed now is 280Kph. Loving it.
Good lord I bet its a right handful!! 🤣
We have a Roadster bought new in 2012. Yes - feels like king of the road, never envy another bike. Would consider a new model just for the added safety features.
Hi Kate, just bought a rocket 3 this week 2005 model cracking bike, only downside is I have to get off it 😂
Great video. Straight talking and knowledgeable.
I have the gtr I love the comfort also the torque I also have the 54 plate rocket 111 they are so different to handle but my mates reckon I dont grin as much riding the gtr as I do riding the rocket 111 . If you do get one of these keep your eye on the back brake mine didnt work when I needed it the bike has been back twice for work on it
Oh I would Love Love to take this thick one out for a blast. I feel that the torque would get me into trouble though 😅 Great review Kate
Purchased my first bike in November 22 (first bike ever) a z900rs 72 plate.
Looking at getting one of these 😅 they are so lovely
Nice Vlog Kate 😎. I have a test ride on the R this Sunday and soo looking forward to it (only get an hour on it which is a shame) 😁
...and, what is the verdict? Did you go and buy it? 😀
@Zgurkogel Good questions. Found it to be better in every way than I thought it would be. Just to expensive for me
@@andrewmanning5763 Fair enough.
Thanks!
Your riding on the left flips my brain and makes me unable to focus!
Hey Kate how are you doing nice to see you back on 2 wheels wearing your leathers and swanky helmet and dark visor ride safe lovely x
Loving this gorgeous beast!❤
Awesome video , can’t wait to get mine
Love your videos and your accent makes me smile. She dances lightly for a big girl! 😂
Nice vid...I've got the r black edition..fitted a shift assist its brilliant with that fitted...
I tried putting them upside down but I don't like it. I have to move my eyes too far for my liking and I use the mirrors constantly .
Great video Kate!
Quickshifter is awsome fit one then tell me it isn't a requirement
Transformation!
I am thinking of buying the Rocket 3 r Storm and asking the Triumph dealer to fit option heated grips. May I ask do they work reliably and are they effective?
@@wakajawaka44 I had them fitted and very rarely use them but they do work very well
@ Thank you for your very quick reply!

Can't really peg the throttle on the camera without going to jail Jim 🤣 it is not wise to board cast crimes LOL
@@UsernameKate It was not a criticism just an observation. Your content was great much better than I could do.
Only jesting! Always appreciate a comment :)
To expensive for me & probably to old is my cons. A pro for it is Kate "swing it around" the twisty's.
really nice Machines great blog thanks ATB
I have a 2022 Rocket. Best of the best.
Have you tried the Ducati Diavel? Interested in your thoughts comparing the two.
I actually quite fancy one of these... Kinda reminds me of the Kawasaki 900 Eliminator from 1985...
I love this bike, would love a go on one just to see how that massive engine feels!
Have to agree with the comfortable bum. Did 13 hours back in the summer and was none the worse for wear. I'm skinny, too.
Great review.🎉😊
It looks a a hell of a unit.
Great summary of your rime with the Rocket. I thought Scottish roads had crappy surfaces.
Looks a great machine... might just have to book myself a trial. Hope you're on the mend and riding again soon?
Would love one, but like you it’s outside my price range
Great summary Kate I have the GT with R mid footpegs, remapped de restricted and the quickshifter is a game changer the best addition to put on a rocket, and you are bang on with your comment of how they make you feel 👌🫅
I feel the other way around than you about two things. The stock seat is not exactly comfortable in my opinion and i think its very stable. I never experienced head shake but i've only done about 5000km on it yet.
Makes me want to go ahead and try one 😊❤
Seriously thinking about the GT. Will keep the Tiger Rally Explorer for a bit.
Kate, when you rode the hayabusa, did you feel anywhere near the 'instant' torque on the busa as you did on the Rocket 3R ?
Have you ridden the BMW K1600b. I know it’s a bagger but the torque is crazy. I don’t know if it’s as quick as the rocket but you might like to have a ride of one for comparison. Like the rocket it’s a beast size and weight wise but the way you handled the rocket it might be an interesting comparison for you. All the best. Great videos.
I've never been on a cruise or owned a Rocket because they're both things I don't think I'd like. For that reason I'd love to win a cruise or a Rocket so that I'd be forced into trying them for free!
Nice, relaxed review!
Btw: what brand is your jacket?
Most fun test ride ever ! Really impressed. Just expensive & wonder how much insurance would be?
I pay £260 per year
Bought every Rocket they made over the years. I now have the R with a full Zard Exhaust and remap! Bloody unbelievably cool bike. I also have s GS like you, but it never gets a look in anymore. Great video. Lovin your work ❤
