  • From what was already the World's largest production motorcycle engine, Triumph has extracted an extra 15hp from the 2.5-litre three-cylinder heart that powers the Rocket 3 model. Celebrating the model's 20th anniversary, the British manufacturer has unveiled updates for 2024, so BikeSocial's Michael Mann went to the South of France to see what it's all about.

      Kindly, can we please fire the Euro 5+ Commission and the EPA Council in America. At what point do consumers say no? It is ok to make incremental requests, and incremental improvements. But you cannot simultaneously withhold patents, and also demand a 50% reduction in emissions. There has to be some fair balance, and Euro 5+ isn't fair to consumers or manufacturers. What they are trying to do is cleverly remove gasoline vehicles through a legal loophole, blaming their cessation on "pollution." It's time to kindly put a stop to these impossible new emissions laws.

    So glad Triumph made the new Rocket , i traded a 2020 Gsxr1000R for a Rocket 3r and have no regrets, the torque just makes me smile ever time i get on it .The quickshifter is ok not great compaired to the Gsxr .The handling will surpise a lot of folks as its fine concidering the weight of the bike .The Triumph engineers did a great job on this bike the quality of finish is superb and who ever designed the rear footpegs deserves a pay rise .As for the extra power if you have the older model ie not a storm then a re map will give you the same if not more power than the storm .

    For the past couple of years local dealers have been offering anywhere from $5k-$8k off on previous year models for the Rocket. If it had a reverse function, I might add one to the stable. 700lbs is more than I want to wheel around my garage.

    They got the engine right! They didn't switch to the weird T Plane crankshaft that is used in the Tiger 900. You can hear the velvety smooth sound of the proper original Triumph triple engine configuration, it sounds really smooth, and not rough and rumbly.

    Triumph had demo of their new lineup yesterday in my area. They had advertised ahead for weeks that the Rocket3 would be one of the bikes to try. I go there, just to be told that they had sold it off and did not have any other to demo. They even tried to sell me a Speed Triple I wasn`t even allowed to demo.

    Faster is always Better!!!
    I have a 2016 Triumph Rocket III that's highly modified & highly customized. Carpenter Racing built up the engine, trans & clutch to full race specs. 12:1 compression, 260hp & 190ft/lbs of torque on 89 pump gas, no ethanol, to the rear wheels. It had 145hp & 160ft/lbs of torque with mild tune before engine work, basically stock.
    It was a blast to ride then, but after Carpenter Racing, it's a Truly Utter Beast and a Blast to ride. It will make the most seasoned rider giggle 😂 so, bigger and more powerful is Always Better. Stay Safe Ya'll 😅

  • @Scout4x
    @Scout4x 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You like the riding position better on the R model over the GT. Is that primarily due to the foot peg placement? I was under the impression that the foot pegs had different positions to be moved... either forward or backwards. If the GT's pegs could be moved rearward, would that make it better for you?

    • @bennettsbikesocial
      @bennettsbikesocial  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Probably so, by moving the pegs my weight would then shift and there's every chance it would be easier on my coccyx over a longer distance. It's not particularly dramatic and with a shuffle in the saddle or a leg stretch I'm sure I'd cope! Good point though.

    The Rocket 3 has always been a marvel of engineering and excess. It's one of those bikes that nobody needs but I think a lot of us want to try at the very least even if like me you aren't into cruisers. The same goes for the Vmax although a little less refined but bonkers for it. I used to work with a bloke who built a supercharged Rocket 3, madness. In this case we are seeing more power but with a lot of bikes we are seeing increased capacity just to override the ever restrictive Euro #insert number here#. That system isn't really working as bikes just get larger capacity to get around it, you're already paying top whack VED for a "mid range" bike nowdays so why not go bigger.

    Magnificent! Very exciting motorcycle, but immatriculation tax is way too high (2500 euros) here in Belgium for such a bike that I’m sure I wouldn’t keep very long. Changing bike every year, too much money lost in very short time. Too bad otherwise I would very well be tempted.

    The problem with the storm is that it was obsolete before it started. Maybe if there were more substantial changes, but power being the selling point is a miss. It’s well known the pre-storm bikes respond extremely well to a tune and can easily exceed the storms numbers for less money.

      I’m thinkin bikes like this just eat miles effortlessly but, 18ltrs is what 2-2.5hrs in the saddle on European rds, so, 120 miles??
      I love this bike but, I’d be using it to travel big distances so, if you’re lookin at every couple of hrs with all the luggage on , I guess that’s not too bad but, if your gonna be fillin up every hour or so, that’s goin to be a pain in the ass as well as the wallet.
