    I am an "OLD SCHOOL" fisherman. I am used to and LOVE "SETTING THAT HOOK". To me, the best part, the most fun part of fishing is feeling that first jerk on the line as a fish takes your bait then setting the hook and feeling the weight of that fish on the end of your line. A circle hook (To me anyway) takes away half (Best half) of the fishing experience. Others may feel different but thats how I feel and how I was taught. I understand in Florida, pier fishing requires circle hooks (I THINK) but I dont fish in Florida. I am glad we dont have that law here in Mississippi.

    Love your channel. We’ve been in gulf shores this week, caught a mess of whiting the last couple of days and fried ‘em up for lunch today. First time to eat whiting and it was some mighty fine tasting fish!!!!! Keep up the good work!

    I'm not gonna lie, with deer season opening up soon and getting the hunting club ready for that, fall baseball for two different age groups for the boys and dance classes for my daughter.....I haven't been able to watch any of your videos in over a month let alone make some of my own and actually go fishing! I snuck off to the pier the other night for some spots cuz they were supposedly running and didn't catch any, but it felt great to be fishing.

    I'd call that a good day man, you were catching fish! - maybe not trophies, but still better than a day in the office! ... and your clients seemed happy. Good job, as always, Matthew - good video, enjoyed it!

    I have never cut those pin bones out of the middle of my ground mullet (whiting) filet. I fry them so I reckon they fry crispy because I have never noticed them as I am eating them. I didnt even know they had those bones until I started watching your videos. Now though I will start looking for them and probably cut them out. LOL

    What month is best for surf fishing in the winter, if any? Would summer months be better? I recently retired and my wife is still teaching, but I would love to come down sometime and hire you to show us the ropes on surf fishing. We lived in S. Florida from 1994 to 2000 in the Clewiston/ Moorehaven area working for US Sugar, and I never heard you could do that good fishing from the surf. We bought a 26 foot cabin cruiser to go out fishing on the gulf, but that turned out to be, like all boat owners say, was a giant hole in the water that you throw money into!!! Lol

    Nice Video. What size sinkers do you usually use surf fishing? I been using size 2 but the current carries it all over the place

    • @leonsus9317
      @leonsus9317 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know you're asking him, but a 2oz is fine. Use up to 4oz in the surf. If current is still taking it everywhere, you don't need to be fishing that day, lol.

    • @BamaBeachBum
      @BamaBeachBum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use 1-3oz depending on the rod and conditions. I don’t generally go over 3

    • @markzepedamusic8683

      Neap tide....basically they occur between the new and full moon cycles and result in weak tidal fluctuation.

    Don't get me wrong, Matt...I like your videos and I AM a subscriber...but why don't you answer folks questions? Seems to me it wouldn't take that much time or effort to dash off a line when someone asks a legitimate question. What am I missing?

    • @BamaBeachBum
      @BamaBeachBum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do respond to most questions...just may not be very timely. But please understand I receive comments on over 150 videos, not just the most recent one I posted. I also have comments on IG and FB posts. But the biggest time consumer is my messages from my website, email, FB page, person FB, and IG. It gets a little out of hand. I try to acknowledge everything but I get behind.
