I was raised in Georgia we catch whiting's which are there cousins they are solid grey with a white underside. they call them southern kingfish. if Im not mistaken I believe I caught a northern kingfish in Georgia!!!
In May and June, we see some giant kingfish, big enough that they grab jigs cast for schoolies and weakfish. But late summer, there's more in that 10" to 12" range, like in this video. Unlike in NJ, we see more in the estuaries and harbors than the surf. - Jimmy
@@OnTheWaterMedia we get them on Ocean Beaches down here in Maryland and I’ll be in Alabama in November where they’re all over the place, I’ll have to give them a try!
I recently used a 6' 6" medium action casting rod with a spinning reel. Worked great. I have a big rod with a Penn for chucking clams for Stripers but you don't want heavy.
Good video. Caught four Friday and released thinking they were small. going back as soon as weather clears and I'll be cooking them up.
I caught one in brooklyn today targeting Porgys, me and the boys had no idea what it was lol
