Watching the underwater video closely, you can see that the pomp didn't get hooked with the float hook because the dropper was twisted on the hook. Big reason why I got away from using floats was seeing how many times my rigs were getting fouled up. Now I use strictly naked rigs and notice a better hook up ratio
Yeah I noticed that too. I was using size 1 hooks and did not use the float cavity size of the hook. That cavity is for bigger hooks and helps the float and the hook stay together. Also pinning the float snug to the hook will help it from separating.
Depends where your fishing to i live in juno beach I like no floats to but the calico crabs are to bad i feel like the floats help with that,i always atleast put one on my bottom hook
The camera angles and underwater footage are spectacular. I've been watching surf fishing videos all evening in preparation for going to Corolla NC in July, and this is one of the best.
Stunning show Tony! I love the natural free range light fade at the end of the show. Your underwater vids are always a treat! Thanks for SHARING your adventures!
Great video man. We really love using you gum! It puts fish on the beach! Always like your under water footage. Tight lines!

Your videos are amazing, congratulations you are a great fisherman!👍🎣 Your pompano catch was fantastic We fish a lot of pompano here in Brazil, this fish is also wonderful
I use two 4’6 rods, that was the wave action. I use them to fish real close to shore. I call them Runt Rods. They are ultralight. The most fun rods to use.
Tony, great video as always. Here is a question: what action rods are you using here? I purchased several long medium heavy rods & the strikes are barely detectable. Unless there are slack lines or large heavy fish. Are you using light or fast action rods in this video? Thanks for your fine products and videos.
Loved the video East coast (Cape Canaveral area) surf fisherman. What type of thread do you use? Interesting concept that I have not seen before. Tight lines sir.
I've heard that ghost shrimp are great bait. I have never used them. I like using sandfleas or dead shrimp topped off with fish bites. Sometimes I use red worms.
Did any of those pompanos smell different or taste off? I seen where a couple of people said surf fish were eating acorn worms and it was throwing the flavor off.
Elastic thread. Most fishing outlets sell it. Also you can pull the elastic out of the top of old socks and use that. Use a lot. I have some for this trip but haven't tried it yet.
First I went with 'C' hooks. Then I flattened the barb on 'C' hooks. Still, every now and again I killed an unwanted fish - with the hook. So I gave up fishing. "Thou shalt not kill."

It’s always fun seeing bite marks on the floats but no hookups😢

You Guys in the Gulf are So... Lucky to have Ghost Shrimp on your shores. Mostly Mole Crabs on the East Coast. Nice Tip on the threads!
Awesome content! I always love when you use the underwater footage. It’s fascinating! 😊
I was looking for information about the line you used to tie the shrimp bait.
Magic thread or bait thread, you can buy it online at thesinkerguy.com
I like the Fishgum Tony. I’m going to make some hooks with the float attached- the pomps seem to want to crunch down on the float
amazing perspective for sure. How did you hook the camera on and keep it on the fish the whole time?
I respect your opinion. However, for me, Octopus is the best natural bait.
Fun video to watch! Wish I'd been out there with you. I wonder how a lure might have worked out there at that time.
this was exciting ... but what are the 2 smaller rods for? I noticed they were getting hit.

Good eye Rita and darn good question too! Tony has some great fun with the Runts!

Amainzing fishing video 😊😊😊😊
Great perspective//What is the name of that bait thread & where can I get it?
Local bait stores along the panhandle have it. You can also get it at thesinkerguy.com.
That was cool
The best feeling in the world
Try putting a star hook on the red floater.
What kind of thread is that?
Did any of those pompanos smell different or taste off? I seen where a couple of people said surf fish were eating acorn worms and it was throwing the flavor off.
Yep, those fish tasted terrible
How do you tell?
Is this a common thing? It's new to me. I'll be down there soon (a year later).
