This is the best golf instruction on the planet. I have struggled with the traditional swing for so many years especially the inconsistency and body aches and strains. With S&T you have finally given me permission to be intuitive and natural.
You have just explained the difference between the conventional golf swing and stack and tilt perfectly and will give it a try, it looks so much more relaxed and consistent then the conventional golf swing.
@@kirkclements4893 he showed what typically goes wrong after being taught the conventional swing. If you think he's wrong, look at the average 20 handicap golfer. If you were taught S&T from the start those swing faults could all be avoided. The conventional swing could work well too but there is a lot more timing involved (Tiger Woods).
Nick , I’m 63 and have played as a conventional golfer for 40 years . Tried every tip under the sun to try and improve. Have had “ eureka “ moments but never really improved . Shoot around 100 and have always struggled with the low point of my swing - usually behind the ball . Consistency of power has always been an issue . I thought this was my lot in life as a golfer . I came across your stack and tilt method and having nothing to lose I thought I’d give it a go . Practice swings definitely gave a low point in front of the starting point . I then starting hitting balls with a 9 iron but initially I was hitting them thin . However the increase in power was instant and they took off like scud missiles . I then remembered 3 more tips in your video . Shoulders forward at address , spine slightly curved at address , chin tucked in at address and left shoulder down in backswing , left arm across chest at top of backswing ( no lifting of arms like I used to do with the conventional swing ). OMG !!!! The improvement was instantaneous . My best shot with a 9 iron with a conventional swing would be pulled about 20 degrees and go about 100 metres . I just came back using stack and tilt with my 9 iron and I was consistently hitting them 120 metres straight and with plenty of height . Effortless power , felt so sweet . I guess I was compressing the ball correctly which I have never done before . I always felt like I muscled the strike with not much timing. I’ve never felt more excited about more practice now with stack and tilt with my other clubs . I wish I had tried this method earlier in my life , like when I was 25 . I’m still reasonably flexible and strong and intend to enjoy the game for a long time to come . Thanks so much for your videos and I intend to post my experience with my other clubs using stack and tilt. Keep up the good work . Not keeping the right leg flexed in the backswing is so good . I can rotate my hips easily. It makes the backswing a delight .
@ Appy Daze The consistency of hitting the ball first and then the ground with the irons has definitely improved , with better compression and direction control . I’ve got to admit though, after some bad practice I’ve felt like , oh no , not just another “ eureka “ moment . I can never understand when having success with a new technique why it never seems to last when doing everything technically the same . It must be a psychological thing . I’m still sticking with stack and tilt because of its logical and simplified approach to the golf swing.
@@tommyruff1286 I know what you mean, same with new clubs, as Lee Trevino used to say " new clubs are great till they get to know you " S & T is a good model for consistency though I think.
@ Appy Daze Yes how true . A new technique is great also, until it gets to know you . Lol 😂 . S & T is much better for consistency and simplifying the golf swing , unless you’re gifted with natural hand eye coordination and perfect timing .
Nick, this is a very good video to send to those who think they know stack and tilt but have no idea the difference between the two swings, good overview.
Been doing convential swing for last 4 years, started stack and tilt for one week now and i've improved so much. Conventional swing is meant to keep you coming back to the golf teacher for lessons $$$
Conventional is harder for sure and I don’t think the coach would deliberately make u need more lessons but may not be educated enough to coach in a systematic way. At the same time whichever golf swing you have everyone always needs lessons
I am just doing my first research on Stack-and-Tilt principles and even though I like the principles, it really doesnt feel to much different to what you learn everywhere else. Your comparison does not really feel fair because on the conventional side you seemingly do things wrong intentionally while a lot of the facets of stack-and-tilt also belong to what I would consider a conventional swing type. I am not judging at all and I am sure, that for a lot of people, some of the very technical approaches to golf and learning it seems fairly wrong and difficult but as soon as start to understand the basics, you see that there is no magic bullet. Just my 2 cent, I like that there are people that your tips help with their golf game, which is the most important metric.
Fair point there are a number of great 'conventional' coaches out there. Unfortunately a number of instructors still coach the old school shift your weight to the right and back to the left
If the pros are using it maybe you should. My friends and other club members I know who use the conventional method all are fighting with slice, as I was until I changed. It is so easy to slice with the conventional method and so easy to draw with stack and tilt.
@@alankasjan6488 Interesting observation. I can tell you, that slicing never has been my problem (except from 2 or 3 days, a couple of years ago when I was not aware of the effect of over-extension in the left wrist). My typical miss is a pull resulting from overeager arms. I am happy if the principles help you and other Players, there might be a chance that there are too many bad teachers around (like Nick mentioned) so the stack-and-tilt is an easy and effective way to achieve a good level as it gives a fairly easy structure and can relieve of mental clutter from snippets of tips, unnecessary details and so on. When you develope an understandment though, what the reasons are for some of the so called conventional methods, then there are almost no differences between any methods. There is no magic bullet, its a small white ball and you have some kind of stick to move it ^^
I agree. He's not doing the conventional swing correctly. He's also not doing the S&T correctly. The hallmark of the S&T is that you're not supposed to be turning at the waist. You TILT at the waist and use the club like a pendulum. It's also why you're more likely to hit a straight ball. The conventional swing emphasizes rotation which is why many say it's hard on the back.
I thought my swing was horrible and not correct. But someone came over to me on Sunday and told me I have a great swing, it’s called “stack and tilt” go search it. This video has made me believe my swing is good and not weird. Thanks!
Well said . I realize my natural/original swing is S&T . I used to always get good contact, even without being a great player. The last few years ive completely wasted trying to get a conventional swing, watching video after video and nothing ever feeling natural. Misses were different every time i played. Yesterday i went back to my natural way of swinging (S&T) and its the most pure ive hit the ball in years… no coincidence
I think I have incorporated a lot of the stack and tilt parts "by accident", but they are functional.. so good to know that it does not help chasing after what a swing/posture should look like
Started playing golf at age 12 using the conventional method. Was very inconsistent and could shoot in the 70s or 80s or 90s depending on timing. Now at age 70, I’m switching to stack and tilt and hope to have many more good games well into my older age. Thank you Nick! Great video!
Wow !!! Best video yet; nailed it. Lots of illogical components (eg, weight shift back), too many moving parts (eg, wrist release) in the conventional swing. Go S & T !!!
27 years of conventional sucking, i finally went to Golftec for over two years to stop everything i struggled with using conventional. It has been hard. I’m stubborn and dumb, which did not help. Finally understand and love it. Big thing i noticed early on was i was not sore when i got home and the next day, and I wasn’t flat exhausted when i got home. Shot 39 on front 9 on 6,200 yd course. I’m 71!! Last piece for me is when i swing at actual ball, my right arm comes off torso. Doesn’t happen in practice swing. The hit instinct causes me to regress to conventional swing.
Excellent comparison from S&T Vs. Traditional swing! With stack and tilt, i really notice that my lower back doesn't hurt as much after a bucket of balls at the range. Very simple and repeatable swing which helps in solid contact and power every time! Great video Nick!
Agree 100%. Also, the straight arm and the one plane idea together seem to have me hitting consistently in the same spot in front of the ball. That is EARTH SHAKINGLY different for me.
I am a brand new senior golfer that is just now trying to learn how to play. I am just finding out about this style of swing this week and I am already liking it much better, it just makes more sense when you think about body mechanics.
I discovered this swing by myself through a drill I created where I keep my arms and wrist "locked" in optimal impact position while I swing with my torso only. I got such good compression and face control I made it my standard swing. Its cool to discover the "stack and tilt" community because its pretty much the same idea.
This is great instruction on the S&T swing...I have the book but this explains things in a visual way that makes it easy to get the concept. Watched dozens of your videos, then went out to the backyard net and gave this a go, could not believe how flush I was striking the ball! Absolutely correct in that you can hit the low point of the swing arc much more consistently. I've struggled with thin and fat shots forever. Tomorrow I will take this to the course and give it the acid test. The swing feels very easy to repeat, fewer moving parts, and much easier on the old back and body. Thanks Nick. Mike in Nova Scotia.
Really interesting Nick. I now see that I was already naturally applying many of the stack and tilt principles and was trying to force my body into a conventional swing. Always felt so unnatural to me. Going to focus my daily training on perfecting stack and tilt from now on. Thank you for this overview
I usually shoot in the mid to high 80’s or mid 90’s.. I practiced ur Stack an Tilt at the range.. I used it for the 1st time.. I shot 76 today at my local course.. My best round Ever.. My big problem was always swaying off the ball.. The only change I made was: I lifted up my right heel at setup and kept it raised through out my swing.. Hitting drives 280 yds. CONSISTENTLY.. Down the middle.. Thx so much.. 😎🏌️♂️👍
Nick Taylor Golf I played again using Stack an Tilt and was hitting my Driver and irons long and straight.. I shot 85 which is really good for me, but I wasn’t pitching or chipping well.. I could’ve just as easily broken 80 again because on about 4 holes I was sitting 100 yards or less, right in front and didn’t capitalize.. What do U think of me setting up with my right heel off the ground? It helps me, not to think and now I finish more like the pros do. I use to continuously fall off the ball. Thx again!
Really loving S&T Developed a useful Acronym WASHH to remember the elements W- Weight forward A- Arms straight S- Shoulder down H- Hands in H- Hips tucked Works well for me at both set up and sequencing
Great video comparison. My buddy has been trying to get me to the stack and tilt. when I do I hit it solid. Your video have a few tips that should make it easier to repeat the swing. Hard to change with 55 years with the traditional method. It works!
Thank you Nick I'm a 84 year old guy still playing 4 days a week NEW for me STACK & TILT My Back was in full revolt So I have switched to New system with little success Driver Better, Toping Irons Thanks for your help Oh the BACK LIKES S/T.
Wow Patrick that's an amazing story, 84 and playing 4 days a week. It makes me happy to think your able to play more golf as a result of Stack & Tilt 👏🏌️
Good stuff Nick, I started with S&T when i first started playing and found it easy to learn as it cut a lot variables out of the swing for me . However, as I got the golf bug and started playing more I took a few traditional swing lessons and I have messed my swing up. Every instructor was like "why is your weight 60% forward at address" .. I ended up listening to them and now my iron play is all over the place. I find that I am now flipping at the bottom of the swing and I am hitting thin shots and I have lost 10-15 yards per iron. Good video as this helped me realize why. I am coming back home to S&T .. thanks!
Great job,Nick. Love your videos. Thanks. I’m a 68 yr old male with bad lower back and right knee. Since changing to S&T my back and knee feels great. I was a solid 13 before. Now I’m a 9. I literally can play 36 holes a day because there’s no more strain on my body. My distance has also gone down a hole club.
My pro effectively taught a combination of both methods, with emphasis more on Stack and Tilt and building “Coil” when I learnt many years ago. I would translate the left column of conventional as “basics” but the right hand as “fundamentals” . eg, Getting a grip that suits us and knowledge of how to alter that grip and why to strengthen or weaken is a basic. Hence why it’s important to know. Knowledge of how to alter swing path when needed is good. Knowledge of when to open or close the stance is important too in shaping shots for instance. Stack and tilt is an excellent system, especially when combined with knowledge.
Hi Nick. I always felt so. That said, am really glad to find your videos. Which are not only good reminders. But hopefully will help my return to the game after several years break. Of course just to make life interesting 🧐 I now suffer with Arthritis. Wrists ankles and knees worst effected, but hopefully after waiting two years for a proper diagnosis, the medication am now on are starting to see a return of better movement and flexibility. Looking forward to returning to the course, and hoping that working on my swing will be part of that recovery.
Watched this last night and gave S & T a try today at an indoor facility with tracking. For context, GHIN 13 to 17 past 2 years; lower swing speeds -- i.e. driver in the low 90s; and at 57, with less flexibility, I think I found a new swing. Data conventional to S & T (conventional data from within past 3 weeks) 8 Iron carry average increased from 135 to 143 and my best shots carried 151 vs 146. I did get less backspin on both an average and best shot basis. Similar results for my 50 Wedge though the increases in distance were smaller on a percentage basis. I did ride the struggle bus a bit using my 5 wood, I attribute that to needing more time to review set up on longer clubs. Overall, when I flushed one, I really flushed one as good or better than ever. For me, the best parts of S & T are (1) it is more simple for me, less to try to accomplish in a swing (2) I have always been a bit of a hip slider and not good at rotating my hips, this alleviates that flaw for me. (3) less concern about set up and posture. Overall: I was very pleased with the results and I plan to go this route in practice at least 3 to 4 more sessions before making a decision to switch or not. The scorecard does not record "how" .. just "how many".
I started stack and tilt after lockdown and with my short game improvements came down from 14.4 to 10.8 in three weeks. I had a lesson with my pro to gap some new clubs. He wasn’t impressed and urged me to return to my old swing. I played in a club comp on Monday and shot 99!! Can’t remember the last time I didn’t break 90. Back to stack and tilt tomorrow, and I’ll be sticking with it👍
I was trained 6 years ago with conventional and paid $150 Per private lessons. Until today I still have trouble hitting my iron inconsistent either, thin,or fat.My question is why I have not heard about Stack and Tilt before? I read about it now. It says this came out 10 years ago. Why the golf professional uses this method to teach ? Until your video popped up recently I have been learning from you and my iron pure and straight plus more distance. I love the sound of the contact! Thank you Nick!
I hear this story a lot Cindy, this is the reason i started my channel to spread the word about Stack and Tilt. Unfortunately golfers and a lot of teaching professionals are not educated enough on the golf swing. IMO Stack & Tilt is disregarded by a lot of the "top" instructors as its goes against their theories which would jeopardise their business
How much should we think about/try to release the club or extend the trail arm in the down swing, so that it hits the same spot every time? It seems that even with stack/tilt method we still move toward the target during the down swing so the low point moves as well as the golfer needing to extend the trail arm at the correct time. Am I over-thinking it?
Hi Nick, I really want to buy in the system because it makes a lot of sense. In your videos, you mention quite often "the best players in the world". Can you please list top 5 best players in the world who use stack and tilt system? And if there are not so many why? Thanks.
Gotta say, having studied 3 different swings - and run two golf clubs where S&T was denounced mercilessly, my current teaching mates, who are horrified by my using S&T admit they recommend weight forward, more relaxed movement, … as long as it is not called what it is - Stacy and Tilt. The different feeling when you pure a shot is also completely different - simply smashed v sorta smashed. Spend a few weeks doing the first few drills - judge for yourself - as Ben Hogan said - It’s just a game. And his swing resembles …simple, effortless, legendary, imperfect perfection!
Thanks Nick, very clear explanation. I like the approach of having the weight forward. But I struggle to keep the arms connected to the body. Does not feel like a free swing. Any idea or comment on that? Best, Henning
I use Stack and Tilt with my iron...I hit my irons crisp.. But with the 3 wood and Driver I have a problem....coming down very steep..... I tried today to put a more weigh on my back foot with the only driver and I was hitting it well...
Brilliant work Nick! Definitely one of the best comparisons I have seen ! Having had S and T lessons in Portugal, I am more confident now that I need to revisit swinging this way!
Hi Nick... hello from Canada, I'm the golf teaching pro at Deer Run GC, in Ontario... please can you tell me how I can find out more on the Stack & Tilt... I've been using this Stack & Tilt ideas on the seniors here and it's working great... cheers Nick...
Morning Nick.....can you give me one or two tips on my stance. My left leg is slightly shorter & smaller due to road accident when I'm 11 yrs old. So far, no problem with shorter irons.....i mesh up starting iron 5, 4, rescue 16° and driver. Thanks Nick 🙂👍
Its hard to say, the longer irons are always harder to hit. Im not sure you need to do anything different, as long as you can tilt your hips, bend your knees and rotate you should be fine
@@NickTaylorGolf thanks Nick..... yesterday managed hit good on my wood 7 & driver as per your swing lesson 👍👍👍....tmoro gonna try hit my iron 4, couldn't hit right just yet, maybe the ball position not correct yet or my swing speed not there yet. Thanks Nick 😊👍
Love your videos Nick. Just took up golf again after 12 years and had massive trouble with thin and fat shots. Tried the stack and tilt system and am not looking back. I love how much more consistently I strike my irons, and longer too. I have never been able to master the driver with any swing so I hit my MW5 off the tee, which is more than sufficient to reach GIR most often. I do find it more inconsistent than my irons though. Can you give some ideas, what alterations need to be implemented for this club to work as consistently as my irons? I did see someone say move the ball a bit forward to in line with the left heel, compared to a club head inside the heel. Anything else you can share to help me?
Just started watching your S&T lessons. Thanks for making this easy and understandable. Another S&T instructor just posted about keeping both elbows turned into the body as apposed to pointing them sideways. )This was what he said Ben Hogan did.) What are your Pros and cons?
I naturally stack and tilt with wedges so it's an easy transition to do the same with short to mid irons and it makes consistent solid ball contact easy. Doesn't work so well on longer irons. woods and especially driver, I hit down and deloft on those too much, maybe I'm doing it wrong. For now I blend the 2 different swing techniques depending on the loft/length of club.
Hey Nick - or anyone else - is there information on which pros use more of a "stack and tilt" method - those who don't shift their body weight to their back foot?
To my best knowledge the majority when measured on force plates don’t have a shift to the back foot and certainly no one sways their body visibly in the backswing
@@NickTaylorGolf yeah it seems that way, I wish I had a video about it. Getting into it with a friend, who insists that all players shift the majority of their weight to the back foot to generate power. But it's hard for me to say how that's possible when you can slow down swings and you don't see their hips move laterally backwards. Not sure how you get that much more force down on the back foot without putting your body over it.
The lines are roughly 20º to the target line, there isn't a lot of science behind it. I draw the target line and a center line for the left foot at 90º to start. Then add in the club and hand lines which are parallel and roughly 20º to the target line
Nick Taylor Golf yesh! Also ya said to flare your feet out but I feel like it’s making me pull the ball to the left how do I stop that. I hear other golf guys say to set up with your feet in line
Flaring your feet will help you turn and take stress off the joints, I would be amazed if setting yourself feet square makes a difference to you pulling your shots or not
I think conventional is great for teaching golf to children who will be playing 20 years by the time they are 25. As for people like me who started playing golf much later in life Stack & Tilt is GOLD!!
I’m trying to learn S&T on my own (can’t afford lessons) and for the most part it’s going well. But my shot pattern with irons is “starts left and curves 50-80 yards more left” unless I start with the club face pointing to the right and use an extremely weak grip (to make sure the club face doesn’t close?). Of course my driver is either sky-high slices or low and dead left, so…😂. Thoughts?
Am new to s&t method. A video on wrist move in this method would be welcome. I feel that my wrists are not doing anything and am lacking leverage. Hope u understand what i mean as english is not my mother tongue. Thanks
I just figured i have been using stack and tilt without realising it XD I do think i have sort of a hybrid, since im not having my weight as much on the left foot. Nice video!
Makes sense gonna try all ur points of info.. I sway off the ball.. Interestingly enough I started doing this swing, flaring my feet out, keeping my weight forward..compact swing, before seeing this video.. Seems much more natural to me.. I’m a 13 handicap.. Thx Gonna Subscribe 😎🏌️♂️👍
Hi! this video is not quite recent but absolutely of great interest. I have tested the Stack-and-Tilt principles recently following your advices. I realized that it is easy with this system to control the draw (I am a slicer since long time but not with Stack-and-Tilt ! ). On top of this I have my irons (7 to 5) at least 20 meters longer. Question: Is it possible to use a compact swing (moving together shoulders and hips in the downswing with Stack-and-Tilt). I feel I cannot manage this correctly. I am 66 year old with problems in my back, and I need to avoid more injuries. So what should I do? Thank in advance.
Mind blown. I have been doing 95% of this right without realising but cannot hit the ground after the ball. My playing partners laugh when I complain that I hit it thin despite being a good shot. All I have to do is keep my weight forward. Amazing!
With stack and tilt do you feel like your trail hip is higher than your lead hip at address? I know in conventional swing players bump lead hip and tilt more.
Quality video Nick, thanks. Can you do a comparison of stack and tilt with the single plane swing which is getting a lot of air time with what Bryson is bringing?
Thanks mate, his swing has a lot of characteristics to S&T even with the long drive swing. Bryson sets his wrists high at address and returns the club back at the same angle and the majority of other golfers return the shaft higher at impact compared to setup. I think he finds this way more consistent with the one length clubs which are super upright in lie
In my opinion, the biggest problem with the "conventional" swing is that there isn't any ONE conventional swing. Nick pointed this out when describing each "fundamental" - some golfers do this, some to that, etc. Building a "conventional" swing by using TH-cam videos or Golf Digest articles is like trying to build a car using some Ford parts, a few Toyota parts, etc. attached to a GM chassis - you might finally get it to take you where you want to go but it will frustrating getting all of the parts to work together.
Hi Nick , just started to get back into golf after 20 + years because of back issues. Love your concept on S&T would love to get a lesson but not sure where to find one in Sydney area Australia 🇦🇺. Do you know of any teachers . Thanks George
is it possible to combine the two? ie stack and tilt at address, then in the backswing shift weight, then during impact, lean back into the stack and tilt alignment and rotation?
Gréât comparison Bro. Definitivly love and improcedente a lot with S&T. Thanks a lot for your vidéos, love them. Could you do one on wedging to explain if you do something special or just a mini S&T swing. Thanks. Rico 😘😎👍🏼👌🏼🤘🏼🙏🏼 home you’ll come to Paris to do a session with you 🤞🏽🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Would like to see a more slower demonstration from the straight on camera. Just a suggestion. I have just started trying to use the S/T and know I'm doing a lot of things wrong yet.
I switched to Stack & Tilt about a month ago, and I am a believer. I'm still dialing it in, but my accuracy has greatly improved, and my contact is usually amazing. I am still working on hitting the ball first more consistently. I'm subscribing to Nick, and am gathering more Stack & Tilt instructors on TH-cam and unsubscribing all the conventional instructors.
Hi Nick. I really am interested in learning more about stack and tilt golf swing. I haven't seen any coaches in Ireland who promote it. I found the videos helpful but would like some one to one coaching on it. Do you know anyone in Ireland I can contact.
Hi John unfortunately not at the moment, your the 2nd person to ask me that today. I know a number of great instructors in England if you ever travel there, let me know
If they started playing golf with S&T they would have stayed on it. However if you've played the conventional swing since the start it's mentally tough to switch (as a tour player).
Ben Hogan was a stack and tilt golfer before many people watching this were even born! Great video.

@@Justinsatiable what do you mean not turning at the hips? There’s hip rotation in S&T.
Great comparison of the conventional vs stack-and-tilt golf swing. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
I thought my swing was horrible and not correct. But someone came over to me on Sunday and told me I have a great swing, it’s called “stack and tilt” go search it. This video has made me believe my swing is good and not weird. Thanks!
If its anything like S&T, it must be good Brad
Yes Ryan 💪
I think I have incorporated a lot of the stack and tilt parts "by accident", but they are functional.. so good to know that it does not help chasing after what a swing/posture should look like
Started playing golf at age 12 using the conventional method. Was very inconsistent and could shoot in the 70s or 80s or 90s depending on timing. Now at age 70, I’m switching to stack and tilt and hope to have many more good games well into my older age. Thank you Nick! Great video!
That’s awesome Mark, it’s never too late for S&T, good luck
Wow !!! Best video yet; nailed it. Lots of illogical components (eg, weight shift back), too many moving parts (eg, wrist release) in the conventional swing. Go S & T !!!
Thanks Mark, I appreciate your comments and i'm glad you enjoyed it #S&T
Exactly Mike that’s awesome 👏🏽🏌️♂️
Agree 100%.
Also, the straight arm and the one plane idea together seem to have me hitting consistently in the same spot in front of the ball. That is EARTH SHAKINGLY different for me.
Yes this is the way to hit a golf ball solid. I m finally making good contact with the push draw. Love it thank you Nick.
Awesome Robert 💪
I am a brand new senior golfer that is just now trying to learn how to play. I am just finding out about this style of swing this week and I am already liking it much better, it just makes more sense when you think about body mechanics.
I discovered this swing by myself through a drill I created where I keep my arms and wrist "locked" in optimal impact position while I swing with my torso only.
I got such good compression and face control I made it my standard swing.
Its cool to discover the "stack and tilt" community because its pretty much the same idea.
Best video I have seen about stack and tilt. Thanks! Only seeing it three years later but better late than never.
Thanks Mike, so pleased your having success with the system. I know it works so just trying to spread the word
Excellent video on the comparison between conventionl and ST. Thanks very much.
Thanks for watching I hope it helps
Really interesting Nick. I now see that I was already naturally applying many of the stack and tilt principles and was trying to force my body into a conventional swing. Always felt so unnatural to me. Going to focus my daily training on perfecting stack and tilt from now on. Thank you for this overview
Yes Ruud, good luck with the training
What a terrific explanation. Clears a multitude of head noise for me and can focus on one system. Thank you.
I usually shoot in the mid to high 80’s or mid 90’s..
I practiced ur Stack an Tilt at the range..
I used it for the 1st time..
I shot 76 today at my local course..
My best round Ever..
My big problem was always swaying off the ball..
The only change I made was:
I lifted up my right heel at setup and kept it raised through out my swing..
Hitting drives 280 yds.
CONSISTENTLY..
Down the middle..
Thx so much..
😎🏌️♂️👍
That's awesome Jay, spread the word 💪🏌️
Nick Taylor Golf
I played again using Stack an Tilt and was hitting my Driver and irons long and straight..
I shot 85 which is really good for me, but I wasn’t pitching or chipping well..
I could’ve just as easily broken 80 again because on about 4 holes I was sitting 100 yards or less, right in front and didn’t capitalize..
What do U think of me setting up with my right heel off the ground?
It helps me, not to think
and now I finish more like the pros do.
I use to continuously fall off the ball.
Thx again!
I’m 65 years old btw so it definitely benefits Seniors.
The conventional golf swing is amazing for peak performance- unfortunately most of us aren’t well oiled machines... this is easier for me
Really loving S&T Developed a useful Acronym WASHH to remember the elements
W- Weight forward
A- Arms straight
S- Shoulder down
H- Hands in
H- Hips tucked
Works well for me at both set up and sequencing
Great video comparison. My buddy has been trying to get me to the stack and tilt. when I do I hit it solid. Your video have a few tips that should make it easier to repeat the swing. Hard to change with 55 years with the traditional method. It works!
It's always possible to change Ed 🏌️
Great video Nick. What about Ball position with Stack & tilt? On your grid the ball looks as if it’s just inside your left heel.
I place the ball 2 balls inside the left heel for the standard shots with the irons Norman
Great video I just realized I’ve been doing the stack and tilt swing without knowing it. So much easier!
It’s certainly the most efficient way to swing the club
Good stuff Nick, I started with S&T when i first started playing and found it easy to learn as it cut a lot variables out of the swing for me . However, as I got the golf bug and started playing more I took a few traditional swing lessons and I have messed my swing up. Every instructor was like "why is your weight 60% forward at address" .. I ended up listening to them and now my iron play is all over the place. I find that I am now flipping at the bottom of the swing and I am hitting thin shots and I have lost 10-15 yards per iron. Good video as this helped me realize why. I am coming back home to S&T .. thanks!
Yes Robert, that’s why I do videos like this along with Rob, Tom and Jess. The tide is changing #stackandtilt
Thats awesome Gary thanks your message and your support
That's great Paul it seems like you found a knowledgeable pro
I've recently incorporated a lot of stack n tilt and its transformed my iron game
Back to stack and tilt tomorrow, and I’ll be sticking with it👍
Lol he wasn't impressed you had improved by 4 shots🤦♂️
Thanks.
Great video Nick as always. Hello from Spain
Thanks Pablo, plenty of great S&T instructors in a Spain
Gotta say, having studied 3 different swings - and run two golf clubs where S&T was denounced mercilessly, my current teaching mates, who are horrified by my using S&T admit they recommend weight forward, more relaxed movement, … as long as it is not called what it is - Stacy and Tilt. The different feeling when you pure a shot is also completely different - simply smashed v sorta smashed. Spend a few weeks doing the first few drills - judge for yourself - as Ben Hogan said - It’s just a game. And his swing resembles …simple, effortless, legendary, imperfect perfection!
Brilliant video and demonstration
Thankyou
Thanks Nick for quick concise explainations; we get plenty to consider and try out.
Thanks, good luck
Great video Nick, would the setup be the same with the driver?
Thanks Nick, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/agMO4JHnKnk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Nick, very clear explanation. I like the approach of having the weight forward. But I struggle to keep the arms connected to the body. Does not feel like a free swing. Any idea or comment on that? Best, Henning
Have you tried videoing your swing to see what it looks like?
It will feel different for sure but that maybe is what you need to do to improve
Many thanks for taking your time, Nick. I will take a video- feel and look might be very different. I really like your channel, keep going🏌️😃
awesome video Nick
Thanks Brian
When using a driver or iron with ball on tee, is the setup the same?
Nick do you have a vid on ball position ? Cheers.
I have the same question. In the video the ball is off of your inside left heel does it Stay the same for all of the irons?
I use Stack and Tilt with my iron...I hit my irons crisp.. But with the 3 wood and Driver I have a problem....coming down very steep.....
I tried today to put a more weigh on my back foot with the only driver and I was hitting it well...
Sounds like you need to look at swing path and shoulder tilt at impact
Brilliant work Nick! Definitely one of the best comparisons I have seen ! Having had S and T lessons in Portugal, I am more confident now that I need to revisit swinging this way!
Is the club face slightly closed to get the draw? How deep does one go on the inside
Good question, it’s hard to say exactly but if you video your swing and compare with my tutorials you should get an idea
Hi Nick... hello from Canada, I'm the golf teaching pro at Deer Run GC, in Ontario... please can you tell me how I can find out more on the Stack & Tilt... I've been using this Stack & Tilt ideas on the seniors here and it's working great... cheers Nick...
Hi Neill, thats awesome. I would suggest doing network training but until then I would invest in the book and the 2.0 DVD's which are downloadable
Thanks Mattias, it sounds like your on the right track so keep practicing more with the woods and driver
Very helpful seeing the comparison. Well done, Nick.
Thanks for watching i'm glad this was helpful
Just started watching your S&T lessons. Thanks for making this easy and understandable. Another S&T instructor just posted about keeping both elbows turned into the body as apposed to pointing them sideways. )This was what he said Ben Hogan did.) What are your Pros and cons?
I would agree Dave, its kinda how your arms would just hang. I like Hogan's feel of the rope around the forearms to stop the elbows pulling apart
Great video. I need you on the course with me
Lol thanks for watching
Not sure how you get that much more force down on the back foot without putting your body over it.
so on the back swing how much forward tilt should you do? Enough so that you can do the reverse tilt on the down swing?
Awesome video thanks Nick. Can you please share how to correctly set up the grid on the mat? Cheers
The lines are roughly 20º to the target line, there isn't a lot of science behind it. I draw the target line and a center line for the left foot at 90º to start. Then add in the club and hand lines which are parallel and roughly 20º to the target line
It’s crszy nick!! I gained like 30 yards with my irons just by the grip and the feet!!! Unreal!!
That’s awesome Glenn
Nick Taylor Golf yesh! Also ya said to flare your feet out but I feel like it’s making me pull the ball to the left how do I stop that. I hear other golf guys say to set up with your feet in line
Flaring your feet will help you turn and take stress off the joints, I would be amazed if setting yourself feet square makes a difference to you pulling your shots or not
Nick Taylor Golf oaky it’s just hard to know where I’m pointed to hahah
I think conventional is great for teaching golf to children who will be playing 20 years by the time they are 25. As for people like me who started playing golf much later in life Stack & Tilt is GOLD!!
I’m trying to learn S&T on my own (can’t afford lessons) and for the most part it’s going well. But my shot pattern with irons is “starts left and curves 50-80 yards more left” unless I start with the club face pointing to the right and use an extremely weak grip (to make sure the club face doesn’t close?). Of course my driver is either sky-high slices or low and dead left, so…😂. Thoughts?
Sounds like the swing plane is too steep and likely out to in Ben
@@NickTaylorGolf Thank you Nick, I’ll work on it. 😎
Am new to s&t method. A video on wrist move in this method would be welcome. I feel that my wrists are not doing anything and am lacking leverage. Hope u understand what i mean as english is not my mother tongue. Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching, I have talked about this in the past but not for a while. Do you video your swing or is this an issue you can feel?
This is a fantastic video. Thank you.
I just figured i have been using stack and tilt without realising it XD I do think i have sort of a hybrid, since im not having my weight as much on the left foot. Nice video!
Where can I find how to fight a draw with the stack and tilt ?
Hi nick when you keep weight on the left leg and do the back swing it looks like you reverse pivot and your head slightly moves target side
It tilts a little left in the backswing, a reverse would be moving the weight onto the right in the downswing
Nick Taylor Golf i think i sway slightly to the left side when i keep my weight left side is this what happens naturally by keeping weight left side
Makes sense gonna try all ur points of info..
I sway off the ball..
Interestingly enough I started doing this swing, flaring my feet out, keeping my weight forward..compact swing,
before seeing this video..
Seems much more natural to me..
I’m a 13 handicap..
Thx

Nice one Jay, enjoy the practice 🏌
great stuff nick going to see Darren hopwood next weekend on your recommendation. Loving your content , really helping my game 👍
Thanks, thats great your going to see Darren - have fun 🏌
Hi! this video is not quite recent but absolutely of great interest.
Amazing!
It took me forever to realize ben hogan basically did this...if its good enough for the best ball striker to ever live, its good enough for me
With stack and tilt do you feel like your trail hip is higher than your lead hip at address?
I know in conventional swing players bump lead hip and tilt more.
What should be the Lie Angel for the shaft?
It depends on your swing, I use 2 degrees upright
@@NickTaylorGolf Thanks. Would single length Irons bee ideal for stack and tilt?
I have a set with a Lie Angle of 63,5 -
bounce angle 3 and 6 on sw.
Well done Nick!!
Thanks Jess #networkpower
Quality video Nick, thanks. Can you do a comparison of stack and tilt with the single plane swing which is getting a lot of air time with what Bryson is bringing?
Thanks mate, his swing has a lot of characteristics to S&T even with the long drive swing. Bryson sets his wrists high at address and returns the club back at the same angle and the majority of other golfers return the shaft higher at impact compared to setup. I think he finds this way more consistent with the one length clubs which are super upright in lie
Can you do a course management video at one of those fancy Singapore golf clubs?
Do you know how much the green fees are? 🤣
Nicely done. Can you do a video just about stack and tilt? Just leave out the conventional swing comparison.
Maybe check out my channel, there are a few
Hi Nick , just started to get back into golf after 20 + years because of back issues. Love your concept on S&T would love to get a lesson but not sure where to find one in Sydney area Australia 🇦🇺. Do you know of any teachers .
Thanks
George
Great video
Thanks for watching
Weight on the front foot was the game changer for me.
The hips on the down swing worries me - is that not a slide resulting in hips not being open at impact?
is it possible to combine the two? ie stack and tilt at address, then in the backswing shift weight, then during impact, lean back into the stack and tilt alignment and rotation?
I guess it depends how consistent you want to be 🏌️♂️
Gréât comparison Bro. Definitivly love and improcedente a lot with S&T. Thanks a lot for your vidéos, love them. Could you do one on wedging to explain if you do something special or just a mini S&T swing. Thanks. Rico 😘😎👍🏼👌🏼🤘🏼🙏🏼 home you’ll come to Paris to do a session with you 🤞🏽🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Also, I feel like the stack and Tilt is aggressive. Can you have a tempo swing with this
Nick, who cares about the traditional swing. The snt works for me, it’s way easier. Thanks for your videos. I am at Golftec Folsom, Ca, USA
Would like to see a more slower demonstration from the straight on camera. Just a suggestion. I have just started trying to use the S/T and know I'm doing a lot of things wrong yet.
Hi i have plenty of videos with slo mo, if your getting into S&T i would suggest finding a coach to put you on the right path
Nick, this week on some of my shots, they would go straight but moderately left and a few times way left. What causes one to do that.
I would start by aiming more right especially with the clubface
@@NickTaylorGolf Makes sense. Thanks!
Nice one Greg, good luck with your journey #S&T 🙏
I know a number of great instructors in England if you ever travel there, let me know
Hi nick, when you flex the right knee towards the right foot. Do u flex it in the angle of the flared foot?
Hi Stephen no I would flex it more towards the ball/target than angled of my right foot in downswing
@@NickTaylorGolf sorry nick I meant the left foot. Thanks for your reply
Funny Stephen I read your message about 4 times to work out if you meant the left and because you said right twice i assumed you meant right lol
I would say to try and flex the left knee on the angle its set at address, which will be slightly flared but not as much as the foot
@@NickTaylorGolf thanks
Can you do S&T with one length irons?
Great video Nick !!👍👍
Hi Gerry thanks again for watching
The chin down flared feet and the weight distribution to the front was opposite to what I was taught...time to calibrate and see what happens
I have seen many golfers attempt this method, and most of the time they end up reverse pivoting on the down swing and falling backwards.
So how many tour players would be using the S&T system?
Roughly 0
I think Aaron Baddeley tried it
If they started playing golf with S&T they would have stayed on it. However if you've played the conventional swing since the start it's mentally tough to switch (as a tour player).
After 40 years for the last few days I have started hitting the golf ball consistently out of the sweet spot. OMG
Good to hear Ken 👏
