Great explanation of how the hips move along with the weight shift.Always thought it was just a rotation. I didn’t realize they moved towards the target. Tried it at the range and reduced my topping the ball immediately.
Brilliant video Nick. So glad that you covered both the iron and the driver as so many videos focus on one or the other. The key for me is keeping the head centred and that requires practice until it becomes natural
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I tried these techniques with the woods and irons yesterday and today, and the results were improved contact, distance and ball flight. The key explanation was the body movement for the weight shift at address. I am looking forward to timing the moves better.
Great video Nick...I watched it twice and you clarified a key difference in the move between the irons and driver. Taking it out to the range and course to play shortly...thanks
Tried S&T a couple of years ago and struggled with it. Decided to give it another go at the driving range this week and wow. I'm definitely going to persevere this time.
Fantastic video Nick. I went to the range today for the first time this year and was a little rusty. Watching this video gave me clarity what I was doing wrong. Keep up the great work.
7:09 you said you want to start the downswing with the lower body. Can you explain what you're feeling to start it? Are you feeling your lead hip lead, push off the right foot?
Brilliant!!! I'm just starting on my SnT journey and this really breaks down the data contained in the book, which is free btw on the SnT site. Nick - two questions: 1. should I focus on the feeling of turning around my lead leg? That's the sensation and I try to focus on one thing 2. you didn't mention the tuck, when do you start that or does it come naturally, especially in the driver? In the book the note the tuck is key to ensure the shallowing for the driver.
Two questions, Nick. First, regarding weight distribution, what about toward the heels versus toward the toes at address and through the swing? Second, I am seeing my head (on video) and shoulders shift a couple of inches left (I’m right-handed), along with my hips, at the start of the downswing. And watching a slow motion video from the front, of your swing, it appeared to me your hips are rotating more than mine while they are shifting, so my thought was that I am not rotating my hips enough to start the downswing. But in one of the comments you said rotating the hips too much to start the downswing is a downfall of high handicappers. So what is the key to avoiding the toward-the-target shift of my head that occurs with the hip shift?
Weight centered on feet at setup, i would focus on hip sway and tilting the right shoulder down more in the downswing. Start with practice swings with a shorter finish to get a feeling for this movement
hi nick. great videos. i am trying to resurrect my golf game so that i can enjoy playing in my retirement. So no great expectations. i have been working on the S and T swing with so decent success. i have also purchased the book. one question that i having some trouble understanding is what the book describes as the spine extension in the backswing - the book says the spine must go from flexed forward at address to to fully elongated at the top to flexed forward again on the downswing to fully elongated at the finish. - i get the finishing position. - but not sure of the backswing sequence etc
That's correct, it's hard to explain in a comment but you need to ensure you tilt your left shoulder down in the backswing as this combined with the extension of the spine will help keep your head stable
I find that I feel as if I bump my weight forward but more towards my left toe…slightly at and angle instead of down the target line…this is my feel as I feel if I bump straight down the target line my hips open to quickly….
Nick, looks like you try to feel more rotation (clearing lead hip) than a lateral hip bump in downswing. Is that true? Rob, on the other hand has a more pronounced hip bump in downswing. Just curious.
I wouldn't say I have more turn than Rob, we both have plenty of hip sway for sure and the majority of high handicappers turn more than they sway in the downswing
Nick, weight fwd at address has always confused me with the different irons. In this video you are using a 7 iron with the ball approx 1 inch ahead of the centre of your stance. So as you lean forward I inch your nose, sternum & hips are centred over the ball which puts you in a position covering the ball. However & this is my confusion, if you take a higher lofted club, say a wedge, with the ball now centred in your stance ( as recommended) and lean fwd 1 inch you become centred 1 inch ahead of the ball ie not centred over the ball - is that what is supposed to happen. Thanks
Stack n tilt is a game changer, but once I get to 6 iron I stop elevating the ball enough to stay on greens. I’m sure you see this a lot in students. Any good remedies?
@@canefan17 Greetings. I tried moving toward S&T for the first time ever this week, thinking only "weight left". Was great fun! And I hit my 5 hybrid great with plenty of height.
Weight forward just works! Broke 80 for the first time. Been playing golf for 2 1/2 years. Been playing stack and tilt for 6 months and broke 80 and got my handicap to 10.
@@shanedeel2 hey Shane I'm sure you will get there bud! Sometimes it takes longer from person to person. I do practice my short game intensely and believe me it will get your scores down. I played a par 64 course today and shot 71.
@@shanedeel2 I only went for one lesson because of my overswing and the guy said I should not even bother trying to shorten my swing I'll mess up everything 😂 Look if I was you the next lesson I'll take will be only to focus on shallowing your swing. If he wants to start changing anything else in your swing you stop him and say let's sort the shallowing part out first then we look to the next step. Single best Summary Video of Stack&Tilt I’ve seen. Great video Nick.
Thanks for watching Randy
This is fantastic! The camera view from above makes such a difference! I now have a greater understanding of setup and how to move through the swing.

Great to here this helped Lee, thanks for watching
Very clear explanation and love the new camera angles. Similar weight shift vid with fairways would be brilliant. Cheers Nick
7:47 absolute gold for sticking the follow through! I found my eureka 💡!
Yes you answered all of my questions. The swing for driver is similar to iron, the setup seems to handle any difference.
A fantastic explanation of the simplicity of SnT!!! Rob Cheney watching from above!!!!

Nice work Jesse, im glad this helped
Great video, is it fair to say you can push from your “inside” trail foot to initiate the downswing? Thanks again for your great videos
Just great! Exactly what I share with my students. Makes so much sense to the open mind. 😇 thank you.

So during the downswing the tilt to the right will push the left hip forward correctly?
Thanks
I would say the hip sway will create the tilt at impact. You don’t want to tilt the head back in downswing (keep it as stable as possible)

Consciously for me while i'm explaining this video but not something I need to focus on when playing as already do this well

Hi Jerry did u watch my video with a wedge?
@@NickTaylorGolf Thanks I will look at that one.
You aren’t addressing the wrist set or right arm movement during backswing. ?
This video was mainly focused on the hips
lately i cant compress an iron for the life of me, constant positive attack angles !
Work on some half swings keeping the hands forward and swaying hips forward in the downswing
Stack n tilt is a game changer, but once I get to 6 iron I stop elevating the ball enough to stay on greens. I’m sure you see this a lot in students. Any good remedies?
Generally long irons require a lot of club head speed to be able to create the height and descent angle to hold the greens
@@NickTaylorGolf that’s kind of what I figured. Appreciate it.
