As a golf fitness trainer, I totally agree with the stack and tilt. It really helps to minimize lower back pain and keeps your core engaged through your swing. There are a few nuances to the stack and tilt which can be helpful for the older golfer.

Eric a great video! I’ve had the good fortune to see Tom in person and get his help. I was about to quit golf due to neurological issues that had taken a toll on my ability to play the timing based slide and glide swing I’d had for 66 years. Having played as a single digit golfer for most of my life, it was hard to see those scores going up to the point of quitting. I’ll never overcome my ailments, but Tom has simplified my motion to mostly crispy and that I can live with and enjoy. Thanks Tom!

I've applied this approach for the last few weeks and it's been wonderful! I'm older (60 and female) and find it's easier on my body. My dad taught me how to play 50 years ago and it worked for me for a long time albeit with a natural slice my whole life. I find this method gives me a stronger, more compact swing with less moving parts to think about. I still hit my 7 iron 145 - 150 yards, but feel so much more in control with less effort.

After a couple of years wondering in the dark about my technique, i took some Pro lessons.. And boy, that made wonders! And the best part, my Pro never labeled the teqnicue used, but actually played of my strength and weaknesses. And i find that my newly built swing is very much like stack and tilt! Another friend of mine nails the more "classic" golf swing. I think people need to stop trying to put their swing in a certain box or style. We are all build differently, and you may be surprised to see that stack and tilt may just work for you. Or even somewhere in between. I really like that you guys talks about this and are open to every type of swings!

I have been considering quitting golf again after the past few months. I've been playing for about 3 years over the summers and took a year off because I was so frustrated at poor ball contact. This week I completely forgot how to swing and kept topping the ball like when I first started. I randomly stumbled across this video and had never heard of this method. I went to my mat and net last night and started flushing crispy shots about 30 or so and again this morning, I maybe had 5 bad shots, which is very good for me. My typical game is I hit a good one every 4 or 5 balls. It's such a good feeling to hear that compression and pop and now I'm hitting every club in the bag. Thank you so much for this, it really is life changing as the title says! I can't wait to go play again. 🎉❤😁

@@CogornoGolf I can't tell you how happy I am. This is the best I've ever hit the ball. I took my new swing to the range, because mats are one thing and grass is the real test. My typical round out of 100 balls is 30 or 40 good hits but now the script is flipped, I hit around 75 good ones and was finally having fun! I am so thankful for you and Tom.

This is a good explanation of how to digest instruction, from educated coaches. SaT is not for everyone in its entirety, but there are pieces that can help anyone. I don’t SaT per say, but a drill I work on is a 80-60-80 type feel for weight on front foot through swing(start-during-follow through). It keeps contact more consistent, prevent me getting too long with my backswing, and let’s me turn better.

I bet this was the most altruistic thing on all of YT today. I share Toms experience in that when I discovered S&T it was like the game I had loved and been obsessed about for so long suddenly began to love me back a little more cincerely... off course, with S&T you still need to do it the right way and properly to succeed. But at least you got an honest chance - and yes, I've found it to work briiliant with the driver too (when done as prescribed) Thanks!! Martin hcp 5

Am with Tom - earlier in years of golf tuition was weight shift right too left, this is why there are so many who can't play the game or are bad at it - timing is the main factor, stack and tilt is the left foot (right handed golfer) being the main solid post of a spring gate! So like the gate, we have to open and close on a solid foundation thus being our left foot - If that left foot is not anchored/weak then the gate wont close properly neither will our golf swing!

That’s the thing about what Tom said about finding tips in a magazine. It’s sooo different now with online coaches, like Tom and Eric, who have different teaching approaches that really encapsulates a variety of learners. I remember reading article after article and getting confused and frustrated when it came time to practicing. Having more on-demand type learning plus a huge variety of coaches make a tremendous difference. I will say S&T has transformed my game. Tom and Eric, you both are fantastic instructors.

Being a tennis player as a child, I have grown up being very comfortable moving into a ball on the full swing - it's just how my brain calculates power meeting impact. That said, and I can be brutally honest, I was a horrible chipper & pitcher of the ball because my low point control on these smaller shots didn't work. Stack & Tilt, the key being weight forward and Left shoulder down, is like an instruction manual from God on how to be a great pitcher & chipper - I'm a 100% convert using this technique around the green.

@@CogornoGolf The more I thought about Stack & Tilt after watching this video, the more it's obvious that the modern game is a progression from Long-Driving dynamics for the Driver and then moving towards Stack & Tilt for the short game. The only question is what is the distance & shot where you fully transition - likely the 50-yard low spinner pitch and 90% true at that 100-yard flighted wedge shot.

How does that activate your legs if all energy is stayed on one edge of the left foot?? Haha makes no sense. It makes sense that being in a final shift position creates accuracy and consistency, but you're easily losing power. That's why a half swing is way more consistent than a full swing. Full swing you're going at it! Also flexibility is a huge key for power and rotation. Smaller people won't need a true deep hip rotation. I see this working for some people but most people want that power; for the fun of the game.

Man, I hope it's not a fluke, but I was keeping my weight forward and working on my tilt today at the range...total smoke show with my irons. I was missing greens all day Saturday and Sunday due to weak/missing irons from 140 to 190 that I was easily hitting with range balls today. It did help me to also not let my head drift back, and definitely not create the tilt by putting my weight back.
Two-hour practice with no problem striking ball first & divot after the ball...it was just happening naturally. Driver improved too, but I was mostly working on my irons today.

      Hi Oliver,
      Thanks so much for watching!
We'd need to see your swing to say for sure how to help out with those long irons, but love to hear it's helped your game!
Feeling more of the pieces in this video below as the clubs get longer may just do the trick for you. It would help to shallow out your angle of attack + produce more club head speed to hit the ball higher and farther👍

Great video… for whatever reason stack and tilt became a dirty word. But when you listen to Bennett or Cagno describe what’s going on, it makes all the sense in the world it may not be for every pro. In fact most of them don’t but Zack Johnson comes very close to a tailor-made stack and tilt guy. I’ve been working on it for a month I’m a senior golfer. It’s really been helpful for me. this is a great video. Great summary thank you very much.

Man I am no where as good as you or Tom, but I definitely feel what he said! I like to play golf, but doesn’t play too damn well lol. I always get upset at the course, sometimes I just want to quit. But I help this local golf organization, so I can’t quit ha. Today, I went to play, all I did was put the weights forward, hand towards my lead foot, half swing it, omg it was crisp. Maybe it was not KFC crisp, but Chinese friend chicken crisp. I didn’t have time to practice at range due to work, but the weight forward works. If I just chipped a little better or putt a little better, then I would break 100. I ended up with 100 even. Thank you guys for the information. I love your collaboration with Tom and Mike Malaska! Keep up with the great content.

I do not believe setting up with 55% of your weight on that lead foot is a concern. I believe the concern comes with keeping the weight there throughout the backswing. This would undoubtably keep swing center steady and could result in consistent solid compression. There are many ways to strike a golfball. Moe taught us that. Great video guys.
    Thank you

I can only see one slight difference between stack n tilt and a 'regular' swing, which is a little bit more weight is kept forward all the time rather than shifting it backwards. And yes, I'm in the bathroom. Lol. Everyone should also check out the jess Frank golf academy TH-cam channel. He's awesome like these guys and uses stack n tilt.

      Hey Tripp!
The Stack & Tilt model swing would have the lower center (think belt buckle) and upper center (think shirt buttons) staying fairly centered all the way up to the top/P4 (no centers would move to the trail side)
      Hope this helps!
