The book "30 Days to Stop Overeating" by Harper Daniels takes an interesting mindfulness approach. Weight loss can be very psychological, tied to stress etc.

Tips/info I've learned from the internet about food/working out:
-focus on how food makes you feel, rather than the caloric content
    -throw out your scale
-refrain from "body-checking" in the mirror or otherwise
-still enjoy treats, but in moderation!
-drink water! (my reusable bottle helps me with this)
    -try to get good sleep
-try to refrain from restricting, as it often leads to binging
-find workouts you love, you don't need some crazy strict routine you hate, again, focus on how they make you feel and ignore calories burned
-try to get moving a little every day, if you're really not feeling a workout, maybe just go on a little walk, every bit counts
-gaining muscle increases BMR so I can eat more!
-accept you're probably gonna fail at least once, but that doesn't mean you fail as a person
-being healthy is about building small habits, its a very gradual process, so baby steps

_ Replace the word "should" with "Could" . So instead if saying i should probably exercise now

I realize that I no longer want to lose weight because other girls are skinnier. I want to look, and feel confident like I used to. Starting today I am going to try and be healthier. Quarantine really got to me, and I gained a lot of weight due to stress and binge eating. I would often sneak food late at night, etc. Another issue is that I often never drank water, and also ate when I was bored. This is bad for my health as a dancer, and I want to become stronger too. Thank you for this, because it really motivates me. I now realize I can't compare myself to others and I need to understand that this takes time, and results won't show in seconds or just a few days.

Your purpose can be just to lose weight and that’s fine. It’s important to feel comfortable in your body and love what you see when you look in the mirror or at least tolerate it. If you just want to lose weight for aesthetic reasons, that’s motivation enough. Confidence is important, self esteem is importance. Having fun taking pictures is important

    • @coolum.5226
      @coolum.5226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

To be honest. I think if your goal being to lose weight to look prettier, it’s absolutely fine. You just need to start off with a good high self esteem (like I do so myself) then you start losing weight for the purpose of losing weight. You will not go down the path of self destruction or starving yourself (I love myself too much to put myself in danger) and when you start to lose weight you will become healthier if you do it the right way. Honestly, her advice is the more stable one since it gave you the journey of being healthier mentally and physically. Even without self esteem in the beginning.

I lost 50 pounds in 2019 and I’ve kept them off till this day. I needed to make that change because I was obese and I felt absolutely miserable. It wasn’t easy at all ! Some weeks I would even gain weight, some days I’d binge and feel bad. The important thing is to take it one day at a time and be patient when trying to adjust to a healthy lifestyle. Even today, I still have times when I binge and feel bloated, but I’m not giving up. I’m still striving to learn how to be healthier. Sending love to everyone out there! @@mami11533 honestly I ate whatever I wanted and the way I did that is by counting calories. I know it’s seen as a negative way to lose weight, but that’s how I did it. The app MyFitnessPal is a great way to do this, you just put in your goals and it’ll calculate how much you need in a day. If counting calories isn’t for you, just try to limit fast food, processed snacks, and sugary drinks. Everything is good in moderation, but try to make good choices when eating. 😊

Yeah, my first attempt to loose weight was when I was 11. I did it because I absolutely hated myself. I am now 15, and over 300, but have started getting healthy. The first thing I changed was my activity. Going on walks, being outside, whatever I could. Then I changed my eating habits, I'm still working through the horrible habits I had adopted as a young child. And have recently startee loosing. I'm happier, making healthy and tasty meals is fun, and working out is fun usually. I have a feeling that even though I'll still hit bumps in the road, I won't get hit as hard by the consequences. 😀

Hey, please don’t give up!!! I definitely relate with your story. My dieting lifestyle started at age 6, doctors kept consistently putting me on diets which made my mother be so restrictive on what I ate and stuff. Messed up my whole relationship with food and self-image, but now I’m trying to lose the 200+ weight that I have right now. Instead of trying to lose weight though, I’m just tired of living unhealthily which will become my purpose: live healthy (i.e. physically, mentally, & etc.)

Trust me, when I was your age all I tried to do was ‘cut off carbs’ or ‘cut off sugar’ and I was miserable and starved. A healthy lifestyle is about giving your body what it needs and listening to it, even if it wants some chocolate. Moderation is key!

I gained back 26 pounds in 6 months. I am now feeling gross but I honestly thought to myself, I will not stress myself like before. I want to have a sustainable weight loss journey and I am now thinking to myself, ONLY eat when you're hungry, if you guys realize that most of the time we crave food not because we're hungry but we're BORED! We just something to do. I know I will have a sustainable weight loss when I changed my mindset.

in the end its about calories in, calories out. Combine a protein source like fish, meat, tofu, beans with a carb like (sweet) potato, rice noodles (watch portion size!) and bulk up your meal with salad or vegetables to fill you up. Use oil/greasy condiments sparingly. Look up volume eating. Ofc you can still eat unhealthy foods if it fits your calorie limit but if you dont wanna calorie count, volume eating and portion control are the way to go.

Yes I want to gain muscle 💪
Yes, I want to eat nutritious foods so I can live to 200 years old.
And I want weight loss/fat loss to be a side effect of all this☺️

i'm literally crying watching this video, this keep me motivated. 💖😭😭thank you zoe

I love how you talked about purpose. I'm totally aligned with purpose, I don't like doing things just for the sake of it. It's boring and unmotivates me. Even if I already knew before about what you said about lifestyle changes and living healthier, I still think it was good to be reminded of it. Great video!

i am literally going thru the same cycle as you did. as of right now im back to the weight gain again after having lost weight and living a healthier lifestyle for the past year. mentally i was happier as well, my quality of life was also so much better...
im so glad to have stumbled upon this video bc it reminded me of how good i felt back then without focusing on the number on the weighing scale. and for reigniting my spark to go back to working out again ✨💖

Thank you so much I hope you know you are making such a big difference on so many peoples perspectives of “losing weight”. I really love how you described that losing weight will just fall into place without you really even trying to if you adapt to a new, healthier lifestyle. You made me so motivated to live a healthier life, and I’m sure a lot of other people feel the same way. Thank you so much I hope you have a great life

I struggled a lot during the start of my health journey (and i still do sometimes), i still have some goals i want to achieve but the most important thing that came from that journey was my love for movement and the self love mindset i have towards myself now. My body changed a bit, but months ago i would still be unsatisfied to the point of rly bad copying mechanism, now i know ive always been beautiful, everyone is, your mindset plays a big role in how you see yourself.

The book "30 Days to Stop Overeating" by Harper Daniels takes an interesting mindfulness approach. Weight loss can be very psychological, tied to stress etc.
