Lexus LC 500 Review: The Most Under-Rated Car of Our Time
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 17 เม.ย. 2024
- It’s time to test drive and review the 2024 Lexus LC 500!
The LC 500 isn’t just an under-appreciated car - it’s also lesser known outside of car circles. “LC” stands for “Luxury Coupe,” and the full name of this particular car is actually the 2024 Bespoke Build Lexus LC 500 Coupe.
The LC 500 comes with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine (no turbos here!). The car makes 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, and all of that goes through a 10-speed automatic to the rear wheels - sending this two-door hardtop from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds.
The cost of the LC 500 also hasn’t risen a ton in the past few years. The first LC, which debuted in the 2010s, started at $92,000. This one starts at $97,700. The price hasn’t grown at nearly the rate of inflation.
Lexus doesn’t sell a lot of LC 500s, in spite of their inflation-proof status. But there are still all kinds of models: convertibles, coupes, hybrids (called the LC 500h), and limited-edition models like the “Inspiration Series.” This car comes in Ultrasonic Blue Mica, one of the LC 500’s many beautiful exterior colors, and people often mistake it for Lexus’ famous Structural Blue. (Read up on that if you haven’t heard about it!)
The first time I drove this car, I knew I wanted to be an LC 500 owner one day. Whether that happens is still to be determined, but the LC is one of the greatest cars of our era - and ownership of it should be an honor for anyone. I hope this video shows you what I mean.
Thanks for watching my TH-cam channel. Enjoy the drive!

I can't help but stare at LC500's when I see them on the road. I would argue that they are one of the most beautiful cars ever made. It is a crime that no one buys them. If I had the cash I would buy one in a heartbeat.
You’re so right. I do the same thing!
She said it. It’s the same car as the 2018 so you can own a used one and not have to drop 100 grand
@@nvn2005this isn't true. The suspension and ride is different between the 2018, 2019-2020 and the 2021+. I have driven one from all three of those periods, the 2018 is easily the worst ride.
@@hamsterbrigade are you saying the 2024 got the same ride suspension compared to 2021 ? If that’s the case you can easily save 30k only you don’t mind the mouse pad. I actually own a RX350 with same mouse pad, I got used to it like in 2 days and I don’t even need to look at the screen to know what I’m selecting. Versus The touchscreen you have to look where your finger pointing
The first year 2018 is known to have a rough ride quality. Lexus made improvements from 2019 on. I would avoid 2018 model year.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Easily the best looking Lexus ever made and that V8 roar is divine.
You’re so right 🤝🤝🤝
Gorgeous vehicle!
Just took delivery of my new 2024 LC500 coupe, Atomic silver w/ Caramel interior. I love, love, love this car !!!
SO HAPPY FOR YOU
Congrats! Sounds like a beauty. Effortless power, vault silence and ingot build quality. What's not to like?
I plan on buying one in the future. Gathering info rn. Are the rear seats completely useless or could someone fit back there with some work? For extra info, I'm 6 feet tall. Usually just with one other person but occasionally have to drive 3 people short distances.
Passenger side could accommodate 2 passengers (front/back) under 5'5".
The LC 500 is truly a beautiful car inside and out! If i had $100k to drop on a car, this would definitely be on the list of options.
It’s soooooo good. Wow. I love it
Gotta shop used!
Exactly certainly this or the Nissan GTR. Completely future collector cars.
Reliable unlike that newer German and English rubbish. I have 2 German cars but won’t go for something newer than 2002 model year .. unless it’s a G-Wagon. Very high old fashioned quality! Built to last a lifetime.
In my late 30s and fortunate enough to be able to soon take delivery of this 2024 in atomic silver, which I plan to keep foreverrr
You can get one w/ 15k miles for $60k….so there’s that, which is nice
The use of music is perfect in this video.
Thank you 🤠🤠🤠
When the cello came in at the start I thought I was watching an episode of Wednesday.
Completely agree!
It's so timeless! It's almost a decade old and still looks brand new.
Yes! Brand new!
the reason its underrated is because no one wants to be unique anymore. Someone looking for a sports car in this price range is probably gonna either go with german or american just like every other guy on the road. The hidden gems are always overlooked and usually have the best overall quality. There should be a check list of things to take into consideration while buying a car but all most people care about is brand reputation.
This car will be so rare because of that. What a cool car
Just grabbed a 2021 lc500h in nightfall mica, tan interior, fully loaded from Florida. A baby lfa. What a car. 1200 miles drive back to my home state was pure pleasure. Amazing mpg.
That’s awesome. So happy for you
@@AlanisKing bought a Motorola adapter for android auto. Now it's fully androidauto wireless. Love love the car. 1200 miles and less than 2 tank of gas. Seats so comfy that my buddy and i rode the whole way without stopping.
The LC500 in red with blue, orange and white interior is my favorite combination.
I had a GS-F with the same engine and this was going to be my next car and keep forever.
Then 2020 happened and that dream has to wait.
I hope you can achieve it one day! You deserve it
I like that interior also, but this one takes the prize.
I sat in a lc500 at a car show several years back and it was by far the most impressive car interior I've ever been in. Would be great to own one one day
It is. I think about it all the time
I did the same thing and then I bought one a year after because I couldn’t stop thinking about it
I've heard you talk about this car so much, so it's nice to see you really getting the chance to go over it fully as it's remained relatively unknown to me for all the reasons you outlined. Really looks like a winner! I agree with you that this will be a future classic for sure.
Ahhhh thank you so much
i've seen one in black with 241'000 km 2018 model year and the owner was in love with it. he said, that he never had any issue with the car and it still feels like brand new.
Absolutely love that
I own a 2021 LC500, and every time I drive it I am as excited as Alanis was in her review… and she just scratched the surface of the many unique and refined features of this car…great review!
Ahhhhhh thank you! So glad you have one
Esp that cold start 😮💨
Great review as always. Just now seeing that you are no longer with Cars and Bids. Their loss. Keep up your amazing videos, Alanis. Thanks for this one on the LC500. As a side note, nice music!
Thank you so much 🤠 appreciate you watching and saying this!
I just picked mine up with the same color combo. Mine has the carbon fiber roof, with blacked out trims. I was aiming for 911, but was worried about the cost of maintenance and long term reliability. I am very happy with my decision. Your video is crisp and detailed so thank you. I am actually OK with less sales which makes this car somewhat rare. You do not see too many of on the road, and when you do see one, they are appealing to look at.
Great decision! Huge congrats
music balance was perfect in this review, much like the Lexus LC 500! Flare Yellow, is the best color for sure.
Ahhhh thank you!
What's crazy is that the sales of LC500 is getting better each year since it came out in 2018, 1700 units sold in a year is nothing compare to the rest of the F line up, with GS-F being the rarest (only 2082 units sold in total in the US, RC-F and IS-F sold about 5000 units each). And the color Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 has being used on Lexus vehicles for years, the rarest color on the LC500 is the Structural Blue, which is featured on the Inspiration Series.
Structural Blue!
Excellent video Alanis! I appreciate this work of art even more now. Thank you!
Ahhhhh thank you so much
Amazing Review Alanis!. I can see that you have put a lot of effort in this one. You definetly deserve more subscribers!
Thank you so much 🤠🤠🤠
I agree, amazing video. Great job. I search for LC500 videos daily and this may be one of my favorites. Planning to order mine as soon as the 2025 model drops…. If it doesn’t drop, I WILL be rushing down to order a 2024. Thanks for bringing attention to a masterpiece!
Gt power and the reliability of the Lexus name?!?!? I can't believe this didn't sell like hot cakes 😢🤯
It’s sooooo good
It blows my mind! I think the UK has 460 roughly sold in the last 7 years!
Its very slow, very heavy and the handling is almost too much gt. Artificial sound is pumped though the car. Very stunning car though should have been priced in the high 80s. Just my opinion
@@Dulanor artificial sound is pumped through the car? I'm guessing you don't know much about this car.
Sports car buyers think too short term. That's why :(
Only just started following your channel, and I really enjoyed this review. I love hearing people get excited about cars, rather than taking about what the drift angles are on a car.
Ahhhhh thank you so much
I just took a 550 mile trip in my LC500 V8 and averaged 38.4 MPG. 😮
Hi Alanis, first time watching your channel. Great review and a very well put together video. The LC500 is absolutely magnificent!
Ah, welcome! Thank you so much for watching and saying kind things!
What a fun review! Keep up the good work Alanis.
Thank you so much 🤠
I have been waiting for this since you posted pics on Twitter. Going to grab a tea and watch now 😀
Ahhhh thank you!
Truly an epic car! Your review is so passionate, I love it!
Thank you SO much
Damn, Alanis, I felt that hip slap. 😂
Another great video! 👍 I could do with a little less background music, though.
Hahahahahaha thank you!
Great video, great car! Always liked these. Nice one!
Thank you so much 🤠🤠
GREAT REVIEW 👍
Thank you so much!
I think it’s the most elegantly beautiful car from any mass market manufacturer period.
And my guess was 3 … if I had said 3 a month I’d have almost right.
Thanks for a truly deserving review of a wonderful car.
Often the Todd of the Everyday Driver Podcast says “The LC500 is car that guys buying a Corvette later in life actually should be buying” and as a guy older in life at 55, I agree.
Have a great day and to quote the great philosophy Shakira:
“Hips Don’t Lie!”
Thank you so much for watching and always saying kind things!
I love your energy and enthusiasm ❤ keep up the good work
Thank you SO much

Excellent review 👍🏽
Thank you SO much for watching
It's rare I agree with every single point in a car review! Excellent video as always Alanis - Thank you! Still waiting for the used market to enter my price range :)
Ahhhh thank you 🤠🤠🤠
Great review...one of the best that really made us understand the beauty and performance of this hot lexury car
Ahhhhh thank you so much
I’m here to say the audio designer here is a hero.
Love this segment!
Ahhhh thank you so much
They need to give you one of these just based on your outstanding review!
Awwww thank you! I really do love this car
I have a Flare Yellow LC500, its a true grand tourer. That Ultrasonic Blue in the review is an amazing color and that white interior almost made me sell the yellow.
Flare Yellow! ahhhhhh
Same her. Almost ready to sell my red/tan for that blue /white.
I've always loved this car and how its quite the literal child of the Lexus LFA. This was a very entertaining and informative coverage, cheers! New subscriber here! ❤
Ahhhh thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed
Its such a luxury bargain. More stylish than a 911, with more special an engine than any luxury flagship in its price range, with the driving character to back it up. Its for real a passion purchase that doesn’t cost you
Yes! You’re so right. It’s an incredible buy
I love that many people dont buy them, it makes it more rare, and I love having something that others don't have. I prefer to stand out and to be different from the crowd. This is a beautiful car
I'm so glad you have one! Enjoy it!
SO MUCH personality in this video!
Thank you so much 🤠
Great video, Alanis! I consider myself a car guy but Lexus has always flown under my radar. Which is an absolute shame. I see these cars every so often and it always catches my eye. Top notch review and thank you for all the info!
Just curious, any Doug Demuro collabs coming up? You two have such great chemistry
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
I don’t work for Doug anymore. My new job is at Motor1! And I’ll be uploading here a lot too
@@AlanisKing So does that mean you can't even work with/feature in a video together??
Great review, such a beautiful car
Thank you so much
Excellent review as always. And you were spot on about the cheap looking sunroof shade. A carbon fiber roof is answer especially for the V8 performance spec. That would look so cool and serve a purpose by lowering the center of gravity.
Thank you SO much for watching. I really appreciate it
Your narration is top notch! Great review!! By the way my guess was 50.
Ahhhh thank you. 50 is close!
This is the kind of car you get up for on Saturday morning, pull it out of the garage, get a comfy lawn chair and favorite adult beverage and just stare at it…that would be my zen moment 🧘
Totally agree
Great video and a beautiful car. Did you shoot this around Houston? If so, can you point me to some good riving roads on the North side of town?
This is about 90 minutes from Houston! I actually don’t know a lot of driving roads around there. This road is called FM 3090
Beautifully stated! 100% The LC500 is a definite keeper (except the hybrid - that's a crime). I'd love to have one, along with my "practical" RX350. They would make the perfect duo...
What a good duo
I m waiting to buy a used one. The prices are now back to fair but the rates are high. I will likely buy one in 2025 when the rates are down
By then I ll likely get a 2020-2021 model with like 30k on it
When the ECU for this car is eventually hacked, it will complete this car. A 75HP tune to this car will make it damn near perfect
Good plan. This is such a stunning car
You deserve more appreciation for your car reviews
🤠🤠
I’m one of the few lucky ones 😉. Bought my ‘24 LC convertible in that same blue 6 months ago. Love it. Was waiting for Lexus to drop the horrendous track pad and they finally did for 2024. Also very glad no one knows about it and no one buys one. The rarer, the better, especially here in Southern California where 911s are everywhere. Great review!
That ROCKS. Happy for you! Thank you for watching!
AMG, NSX, RS6,Viper, 512. These are some of the cars that I’ve owned. I say that to establish my point of reference. My LC 500 is my favorite car that I have ever owned! Mine will probably never be a valuable collector because I just drive it too much.
I’m so glad you drive it! That’s awesome. It should be driven, not sitting in the garage
Love this car and you did a great job with the video. Funny. I couldn’t have the white interior because it would get one scuff and then I couldn’t stop looking at it.
I would do the same thing. Thank you so much for watching!
Great review, and I completely agree. I have always been amazed this car does not get more love. If money were no object, one of these would be in my garage.
Thank you SO much
I indeed did not know about this Lexus, but know I do 😀. Thanks Alanis!
Thank YOU for always watching
Not gonna lie, I was honestly gonna say 3 or 4, but I’m surprised the number was over 30! lol! Excellent review as usual Alanis! I think this Lexus is definitely underrated! I feel like this car is the SC-430’s bigger and faster cousin! Especially in its convertible form!
Ahhh thank you 🤠
HI alanis! greast to see you in good shape. Hell I love the LC. Buddy of mine has a V8 one about 4 years old and a Panamera, he could have a 911 which I would prefer but overall, the LC is the most beautiful, livable and comfortable. The interior is one (in my. opinion) of the most beautiful ever made so, yeah you can send me one anytime you fancy . Much love as always from your ol' pal in West Spain
Frankie! So good to see you. Thank you so much for watching. The LC is stunning, but I also love the Panamera and 911!
@@AlanisKing Mind those trunks though, I'm going to have surgery on y hip next August, don't blow you bum LOL, specially if you try the Cybertruck by Tesla, it is like a huge knife 😂
It is so nice to see a Personal Luxury Coupe still being sold. I mean the only place you can get an inexpensive one is from BMW or Mercedes.
I predict this one will go away before 2027.😕
Have you guys tried to use a tripod or a stabilizer for fixed shots? I love your videos. I just get distracted by the camera movement sometimes 😅
We have not! I like the slight movements, and it allows him to follow me around. Maybe we’ll try stabilization one time
I will be getting LC500 very soon atm cruising in 2021 Lexus NX300 Premium package 😁
Great video
Alan H
That is so exciting! Congratulations. Thank you for watching
clarkson voice "Yeesss.." Throughout the entire video, this car is simply perfection. Thank you for your service here! (I had no fear seeing you review this as you have the chops to be this vehicles global ambassador)
Ahhhhh thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it
@alanis king, I completely agree the LC500 is an excellent car with insane attention to detail in every corner of this car. Nicely done great video.
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed the video
Hipsters! The car is almost as epic as this review. Well done Alanis!
Omg! Thank you so much
GREAT REVIEW, THANKS ALANIS. I have much want for this car. Timely review, reminding us that it's a bargain that won't be around for ever.
Ahhhhh thank you! Appreciate you watching
In a nutshell, priorities change as we get a little bit older and I’m 55 now and the balance of all of the LC‘s attributes fit me perfectly. it’s my very first Lexus and I really can’t picture myself buying anything else in the future because this car is so awesome
That rocks. I totally agree with you
It's hard to explain how good this car looks in the real world. I've seen lots of videos and photos and never cared that much either way. I just saw one in person and, yes, it is a truly beautiful thing with so much presence. It is one of the best looking cars out there.
Yes! Nothing can do it justice until you see it in person
Love this Video You are so professional You're the only genuine person that tells the truth.i love Lexus Forever im in uk age 66😊
Ah thank you! I appreciate this!
The reason why they’re so underrated is because they came out at the worst possible time: The time when everyone was finding out and falling in love with the LFA.
So fair
The way that interior sings is just....operatic. 🗣
Yes!
Most videos about LC500 have more views than actual cars!
And of course I have to brag about my LC500...
Well I just placed order for my (flare yellow 💛)😊
That is SO exciting. I hope you love it!
@@AlanisKingsince I saw concept (in magazine) until now (finally I can afford it) LOVE it ❤
And of course special car requires special color!
Dont see much of them on the roads in the UK but when i do i have no choice but to admire its beauty
Same here
Lexus really should have capitalized more on the LC as a halo car to boost their more practical/cheaper cars. Unlike Audi with the R8, they did not follow up the introduction of the LC with other cars that have similar levels of styling, technology, or performance. Instead, they seemed to have let the IS, ES, RX, NX, etc. languish with arguably busy styling, and performance that trailed much of the competition. There was too much of a gulf between the LC and their other cars to have any serious connection. Instead, the forgettable, normal cars likely contributed and dragged down the reputation of the LC500. If they had come out with the recent crop of vehicles earlier (the new RX, NX, GX, etc.), they would have fit a lot better with the technology and design language of the LC. It's too bad those improvements to their line-up came so late that most people either forgot or never knew the LC even existed.
Totally fair assessment! It’s such a good halo car
How does it drive without the rear wheel steering option? The Bespoke builds unfortunately don't allow it
Loved the driving experience
The jacket is FIRE! And there is the LC500😂
Thank you 🤠🤠
Ah yes, the LC500, the mainstream LFA 😆
It’s such a gorgeous car! I’ve never driven one but occasionally I’ll see one around here in Amsterdam and it stands out so beautifully 🤩
Mainstream LFA!
The green, yellow and orange are stunning.
Absolutely stunning
I owned a black RC 350 F Sport, everytime i see her i get this butterflies feeling. My next car is gonna be this Gorgeous LC 500!
That's incredible. I'm so happy for you. GREAT choice
You’re awesome girl !!! Glad to see you got your own channel now.
Thank you SO much for watching
I’m sad Alanis is no longer with Cars and Bids, but her new channel is amazing. I hope it does well!
Ahhhh thank you so much!
Im ok with how unknown this car is because in a few yrs, i can probably find one in excellent condition for half the price… and still nobody will know what it is…and i love that…keep your mustangs and challengers, this is so much more…everything!
…actually, you can find these used for 50k already
My brother has a ‘20 Inspiration Series in Nori Green Pearl. It is one of the most amazing cars I’ve ever been in. It drives so well. It’s the car I wouldn’t complain being in grid lock traffic in. It has just enough performance to keep you on your toes. That exhaust note is fire! Have a C8 Corvette and I’d take the LC over it any day.
Truly a gem no one knows about.
NORI GREEN PEARL. Love it!
Oh, and my kids barely fit in the back!
Great video, stunning spec of LC. Interesting that the LC is only offered as hybrid in some markets. In some European countries, due to co2 emissions/ engine size. The 5.0l v8 is vastly more expensive than the hybrid. I can see why the hybrid sells poorly in the states
Thank you so much. I’ll be thinking about this car for ages
@@AlanisKing I love it and thank you for sharing. The video was so well shot and the music chosen complimented the LC so well.
this thing is awesome. with the music this video is just wow
Ahhhhh thank you!
I watched about 15 videos on this car now and apparently still nobody knows about it 😂 I plan to buy one later this year
Love that. Enjoy!
An excellent review of the vehicle! I have the 2023 LC500 in Nightfall Mica. They discontinued the color for 2024. It’s looks make even people who aren’t into cars do a double take. It’s so rare because they’re not easy to find on the road or in marketing. For once, I’m going to enjoy the appreciation in value of my vehicle!
Ahhhh I just know it's beautiful! Congrats
Made the decision to get a 2024 about a month ago. The car is absolutely amazing. One of the best sounding cars I have ever owned and a blast to drive. It truly has a split personality, because it can do loud and raucous or serene and comfortable.
I think one of the reasons it is not a big seller is that on paper it is just not impressive. In a world with 600 hp+ cars that will go to 60 in sub 3 seconds it falls to the back of the pack. The only way to truly appreciate
this car is to drive it and experience it, that is when you realize none of the big numbers matter. I have owned a 2017 911 turbo, several other 911s, M cars, and AMGs and I can say none give the experience that this car does. It absolutely has to be experienced to truly appreciate it.
It is a fantastic vehicle and a true hidden gem.
Huge congrats. I'm so glad you got one!
Commenting for engagement. You're doing a great job, Alanis, and deserve more views than you're getting!
The LC500 is a low-key favorite of mine, too, and I'd consider swapping out my M4 for one at some point if I ever got bored of it for sure.
Omg! Thank you for the support 🤠
everything about the looks of this car is beautiful. The arches, the curves of the door into the rear wheels. amazing
It’s so stunning, especially in person
@@AlanisKing the garnet red mica is a true showstopper. Then again, every Lexus color is the best showing of what paint can be
The LC500 is my fav sports car, I love to own several.
The price of new cars are so expensive, especially here in Europe, the days when our dad and grand parents bought their cars out right are long gone.
People lease their cars to make ownership attainable and when the options of similar price are Porsche, Audi, Mercedes and BMW, a lot of buyers tend to choose those brands because they want to show others they have made it because of brand prestige. As they are leasing, 3,4 years, reliability is not a consideration that are high in their decision making. Which takes onto a point that I find strange: its ok for a car to have poor reliability because it is covered under the manufacturer's warranty(?) BMW, Audi and Range Rover comes to mind.
The LC is understated elegance and here in Europe, a very rare RELIABLE NA V8 that would still work 15+ years down the line unlike the other brands. I'm glad not many people would know what car a 'Lexus LC' is............those type wouldn't know who Rembrandt or Chopin were.
This V8 LC is very likely to be the last RELIABLE V8 that we could buy in the next 2 to 3 years before Lexus sadly cease production, but it will out live well past all the other options as they will end up in breaker's yard long before hand.
Very thoughtful and accurate comment. Thank you so much for watching!
You’re not buying just a luxurious, loud, and an extremely sturdy feeling car, you’re buying a rolling piece of art
Agree
No news here. Nearly every reivew about the car is glowing. My 2021 LC500 Convertible has bee a joy to drive.
Auto journalists love it! Glad you got one
I've lusted after this amazing work of art/vehicle for many years...
It’s sooooo good
I daily drive a Lexus ISF, which is already a rare car. I'll be renting an LC on Turo in a couple weeks and driving about 500 miles in it, so you can imagine I'm excited for that
That’s SUPER exciting! Have fun
@@AlanisKing Thanks! ~250 miles down to Key West so it should be super fun
I will acquire n keeps this some day!
Have one. Love it.
GREAT choice
Which do you think will retain its value better, convertible or coupe?
I say coupe
The LC 500 in that spec is beautiful. If I were to buy one it would be similarly specd. And I have to ask, what’s the origin of why you get in the trunks lol?
I actually don’t know! I just started doing it one time
True, the LC is lesser known outside of car circles---just like most Japanese performance and sports cars like the LFA, original NSX, S 2000, Supra, Prelude, etc. This is because Japanese companies are shy about promoting these models and the mass (non-auto) media basically ignores them: when have you seen a Japanese luxury or sports car in a movie if it wasn't an actual product placement (like the Black Panther franchise)? The media promotes the idea that European makes are synonymous with luxury and quality, and Japanese companies don't do anything to promote their sports cars. So their awesome models like the LC fade into oblivion and get canceled. Sometimes, they even decide beforehand that limited numbers will be made--before they even gauge demand! This happened with the LFA, prompting auto journalist Thomas Bangma to say of the LFA that it's a "crying shame that only 500 will be made." This, by the way, is also the reason no one buys Grand Seiko watches, which are handmade and said to be better than Rolex.
Such a good point here. Thanks for watching!
@@AlanisKing Thank you! And you're welcome!
Love the Lexus, definitely a dream worthy of owning. I also like that you can still get rid of jealous people with that trunk! 🎉
Hahahahaha
