What sort of place would rent these, out of curiosity? I used to live in Seattle/ Bellevue area and in Northwest Portland. If I was back there I imagine they're probably thick on the ground, but I've never seen one in person here in New Mexico
Love the 911 as much as the next guy, but this car is special and probably if I had 100k to drop LC500 is the one I’d go with. It’s going to be driven by 65 yr. old guys in West Palm Beach, headed to the private golf course. That said, it’s a better choice for reliability over an MB SL.

Another stellar review on the amazing LC500, well done, gents! This month marks my fourth year with my 2018 LC500. When I ponder replacing it, I go for a drive and quickly recall just how special it is. Mine is just the touring, but sheesh, what a bargain it was for a mere $62k four years ago. 44k miles, not one CEL, not one issue. 2600-mile yearly road trips to Carweek, 30-33 mpgs out of a 471 hp V8, unheard of! I get more compliments on it than I do my Ferrari. I've come to terms it's a keeper, and I'll just add onto the fleet where I can. I haven't experienced a newer LC500 yet, you've sparked that curiosity now! Keep up the great work, and hey, it IS okay to smile and giggle when you're experiencing such a drive even if it is a bit softer than a coupe! 😜
@@naveenthemachine 1. the SL will be a nightmare to own outside of warranty 2. only the S63 is faster, which is almost twice as expensive 3. elegance is subjective, to me it looks way more aggressive than the LC does I honestly really like the SL but quit the 'blindly go for Mercedes' fanboy talk and be objective. These cars don't overlap in terms of price, and Mercedes has no answer to the staying power of the LC, which is why the previous SL absolutely tanked in value and this one will be no different. There are clear reasons to go for the LC.
This is one of the few new cars that I actually like. Never gonna have money for a new car but at least I have the engine from an SC400 in my Nissan pickup. I rev my 1UZ to 7k and damn the LC500 sounds good on the driving impressions. That's why you buy a V8 vert.
I’ve owned two. Modified both. Tracked many times. Manage large LC facebook groups. Met owners all over. People love this car. Doesn’t feel or look 6 years old. It is also made in the LFA plant by the same takumi craftsman.
When I bought mine in 2020, I was told that this car is a "sensorial experience". Took it with a grain of salt, but it's true. To a point that I bought it then for a couple of years, but still have it and intend to keep it for as long as I can. Never felt like that in another car yet.
Knew this was coming lol get one while you can is all that needs to be said. Nothing like this will be made again with luxury and a natural V8 and anyone that’s fears the limiter clearly hasn’t driven a 2UR-GSE like they should be, take it to the limit. Almost 120k miles on my RCF driven hard and it loves it.
Jack, if you're comparing the LC500 to a Z06, you're missing the point. The LC is a luxurious GT. The 'Vette is a sports car. They have different missions and are made for different kinds of customers.
he isn't actually comparing the two what he's trying to say is a lot of people don't buy the lc500 because it goes into the price ranges of the c8 zo6 and porsche 718 or the base c8
It's a special car, and Mark's criticisms are in the minds of people who own Porsches. The people who buy this car have owned or currently own other Lexus products, MB SL's etc. This is just what they are looking for - an emotional, beautiful, crafted experience. Things like cowl shake and body rigidity at 8 or 9/10ths - simply are not what this demographic care about, and I think Mark puts too much emphasis on that point as a demerit that somehow is going to shew-away the 100 people who buy these each year for other reasons. A terrific car worthy of our attention.
Joe… Well. I can tell you. Your comments are spot on. I looked at the LC500. But now own a 911 turbo. But a small piece of me still think the LC 500 might have been a better experience.
This car exists because Lexus executives realised that their customers want a luxury tourer with the comfort and reliability that Lexus is known for. Keep customers within the Lexus brand when they want that car.
I currently own a 2016 Jaguar F-Type R convertible which is the most amazing car I've ever owned. The similarities to this car are striking. Definitely on my radar as a next vehicle.
As an owner of an LC500 and having driven F Types, I think you’ll be surprised how dynamic the LC500 is. Don’t be fooled by the GT nature, these cars like to be thrashed (as mentioned in the video). Just get the rear wheel steer
Thank you so much for representing this absolute masterpiece! One of the most beautiful and exquisitely designed cars if all time. People need to make this sell! Is is a Japanese Aston Martin. The attention to detail... 10 years on it still LOOKS LIKE A CONCEPT CAR!!!! Cheers!❤
Just did the Lexus performance school at Sonoma raceway this weekend with the LCs and oh BABY is this thing special. 10/10 car. Early in my career but have been saving up for one of these for 3 years and having some seat time with one reinforced why it’s the right move
At 66 I'm well over the German metal and exchanging Christmas cards with the service department. I've come to enjoy slightly softer rides at times, and not feel like I'm crawling out of a manhole when I'm the market. I can still drive this like a maniac since HWY1 in Carmel California is 4 minutes away. I lean towards the coupe, but days like today the tradeoff seems worthwhile. I'd be looking used, there are deals to be had, and I haven't seen a configuration I don't like. I bought an RC350 for giggles when they were giving them away at the beginning of the coof. And it'll probably be my last fling and not look like I'm having my second midlife crisis. This will be a classic.
Such accurately heralded precision crafted car! So beautiful too! Will be a collectors item before long. The last of the HIGH quality original Lexus ethos in vault like quality. It will be sorely missed soon
I own a 992 but do appreciate the LC500, and own Toyota products as well. If I got more garage space I would get one alongside my manual 911 it would be a perfect pair.
I was lucky enough to borrow one for a few state to state trips last year, nothing but good things to say about it. In spite of the low profile tires it still had a nice ride on the freeways or around town. I had the V6 hybrid version but when you revved out the engine it still sounded absolutely fantastic.
15:06 this is an excellent topic point, at what price does objective requirements go out the window? Like if you’re a person with enough money to spend on a luxury, performance vehicle that isn’t a utility vehicle in any way, how much does it matter that one car is better than the other? Does it matter if you can get faster, snappier, more value proposition, or is it more about your preferences as a buyer?
Jack said this car is emotional but not objectively better than x, y, z, but when you’re spending this type of money it’s an emotional purchase. If you follow head over heart you buy a 30k car.
Yeah but for some people they find that raw speed from a 911 or a Z06 intoxicating and soulful in their own right. The people who just wanna go fast, those cars will make them smile more at least in terms of a new car. I don't give a shit about speed, so for me an ND2 Miata is one of my favorite cars. But I see the appeal of the people who just want a car that goes fast, kind of like what Jack does. Different strokes for different folks.
@@royshavrick, I understand you. I have a Miata ND2 RF and I had the unique opportunity to buy in 2020 a brand new LC500 for 85k instead of the 119k MSRP. Beautiful car, but expensive (not vs. 100k cars or more unreliable competitors) vs. my 30k Miata. Having moved in the mountains I would've have not much use of it, therefore I do not regret that amazing, probably soon to be collectible coupe. But I cannot stop recollecting the exquisite materials, the curves from inside and outside etc. Magic. But I do have lots of fun with my Miata 😎
Solely because of this channel and Mark's love of the LC500 I have gone to my local dealer and test driven two different LC500 Coupes (2018 and 2020) and despite trying to fall in love, I haven't yet. Each time with the car I left feeling the car is really really nice but not quite for me. Personally with the exception of exhaust noise, I thought the facelifted Mercedes Benz S-Class Coupe (2018 - 2020) was more awe-inspiring inside and out as a big GT coupe.
I actually included this car on my bucket list. I also included a 2017-19 NSX, a McLaren 570 GT, a Lotus Emira, and finally, Toyota GR Supra. Since I already have an MX5 PRHT with manual transmission, I did not need another manual. Corvettes are way too common, so they were not on the list. The winner, due to the car's exclusivity, performance, ease up upgrades, and reliability was the 45th Anniversary Supra in Mikan Blast (orange) color. Its handling is superb and the B58 engine is surprisingly powerful in a 3400 lb car. The icing on the cake is its looks - so much different than anything else.
I’d love to get one of these being the last of the normally aspirated V8’s, such a timeless design. This car reminds me of the first gen NSX in terms of build quality.
This video was a hoot to watch. I trust Jack's assessment of the convertible's handling; that said, Mark's "wordless responses" (revving the engine up to the nth degree) were priceless. It would be great to see your test of the latest coupe. And, yeah, that engine makes this thing sound like a wild beast. And it looks beautiful.
When Lexus started making cars. Mercedes used to be a luxury car that was built like a tank and to last. Now Lexus is doing that whereas Mercedes has become a lease machine. This reminds me of a Mercedes SL of the past. To me, this car is luxury. Adding this to my list of cars to own/experience some day.
I bought this car a week ago based on what everyone had to say on TH-cam. And I absolutely agree. This is a gem of the car that I did not even consider for most of my search. I tried so hard to convince myself to love the corvette. But the top of line corvette convertibles pushed past 100. And yet they felt cheap. Maybe a mechanical marvel or whatever, but man did I not enjoy driving it. Even before we decided on the LC500, we had a tough time choosing the corvette over the Z4m40i. I think people who paid 100k for a corvette over this car have lost the plot.
I picked up an IS 500. I can't get enough of that engine. 3 points, it's the most powerful V8 Toyota makes, it's the second most powerful engine Toyota has ever made, second only to the bespoke v10 in the LFA and... It's Toyota.
this car is without a doubt a future classic. exactly like the LFA. nobody cares about it until its gone and thats where people realise how special this car is.

My new dream - Wait 10 years for this beautiful V-8 Jekel & Hide to be sold by the dentist who bought it, and buy it at a fraction of MSRP. THAT SOUND!
Toyota has stopped selling the V8 LC500's in the UK and Europe as of March 2024. This car has another year or two tops then it's done. Buy the cheapest 2020+ you can afford right now, these aren't going to go much lower before they start appreciating.

One of the best looking cars, I live in South Korea and a Japanese luxury car is a very rare sight, But when it pops up once in a while it’s stands out so much
The V8 alone is worth admission price. Probably one of the best, if not THE best, Japanese V8's. Yamaha helped and it shows. If you get a chance to pick up a Lexus with this 5.0 engine, you won't be disappointed. A car like this, found used, could be a sweet ass deal and hold on to it. Limited numbers, just like the GS F.
@8:40 *Eyes Widen* THATS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE?! Thank you for the review, I love the channel and your approach I would love to see you compare this to the hardtop
Just got one. I loooove it. My previous car was a Bentley Continental GTC whose engine blew up... The LC is the best car I've ever owned. The engine sound is intoxicating and I can tell it's always gonna be there for me.
Normally the goose or the jack owning a car would be a testament to how good it actually is. But SG had an LC500 for a year or two, didn’t really make content about it during that time, and then got rid of it. That does make it hard for me to believe that it’s the greatest near-attainable thing ever. And I do want to believe. Such lookers, and such a V8, in a car that will drive 40k miles in its life but is built to do ten times that.
i was torn between this and z06 until a miata came across my radar and went for that instead.. was quite the different choice but I love it. once my amg is gone, i'll probably end up getting a v8... hopefully this car is still around as an option because it is simply amazing. i could care less about the badge if a car is reliable and will last if cared for.
new miata has limited slip differential and i hear the electric power steering allows feeling how close to grip limit car is a bit more. yeah z06 square steering wheel is disgusting , its not good for loosing traction in a controlled way , not good for letting the wheel slide into netutral around a turn if your driving slow and lazy, etc. toyota owns lot of mazda so i hoping they put 1.6 liter inline 3 (europe has a even smaller inline 4 engine) with electric assited turbo to make it linear power output per linear input, feeling naturally aspirated as possible with variable exhaust diameter etc. they should probably make it auto dual clutch and have a h pattern clutch pedal manual simulator , like porsche did, because most dont enjoy driving much and drive auto , so they dotn have to develop 2 entirely seperate systems and give option to drove as fast as possible with auto mode to manual drivers. ferrari patent rying to make turbo engien sound better by harmonizing echos or something . imagine new prius or miata with seaglass pearl(2017 one was troqouise blue green in warm sunlight and blue in colder(bluer) lights) with mazdas 3d paint style like in their bright red... i like the quartz crystal color, but i think lexus atomic silver can be good with less of a matte color and more of a variable shinyness like mazdas shapes+3d color. i actually want a trunkless compact 4 seater lower structural height version of prius with 2 liter inline 3 sound, which could be very simialr to 2 seater coupe, that isnt afraid of looking weird with 2 silhouettes for lightwe weight areo.
Great car! Every time I see one of these, I think retired CFO, 70 plus years old who lives in Naples,Fl. Coming from GM all my life I made the Lexus switch 10 years ago and own 2 of the brand with NA V-6's. Mostly boring to drive but, premature mechanical failure of most other brands is why I switched to Lexus. Reliability is what makes me happy and had to sacrifice other wants that other brands offer that Lexus doesn't. Nothing irritates me more than something failing early that just doesn't happen with my Lexus cars. Everything is a trade off in what is important to a car buyer.
I had a smile on my face when Mark was flooring the car and was smiling.... AH man i could feel the happiness driving it... considering i will probably never be able to afford this car.. :)

I bought the 2021 version after watching the review you guys made. I love it like the day I parked it in the garage!
@@viperz22 you won't regret it.
When I was buying my LC last year, I watched all the LC videos SavageGeese made.
I love when Jack is complaining, Mark just has that big shit-eating grinn followed by copious amounts of RPM just telling him to essentially get bent. Love it
😅😅 Mr Goose told Jack to kick rocks.
Rented one of these last week and the v8 growl sounds even better in person!
What sort of place would rent these, out of curiosity? I used to live in Seattle/ Bellevue area and in Northwest Portland. If I was back there I imagine they're probably thick on the ground, but I've never seen one in person here in New Mexico
@@thewheelieguyI use Turo!
Love the 911 as much as the next guy, but this car is special and probably if I had 100k to drop LC500 is the one I’d go with.
Had the same grin as Mark when he was revving it while Jack was on a semi-rant and even shed a tear thinking about when this car/engine goes out of production.
Sensational car.
It’s going to be driven by 65 yr. old guys in West Palm Beach, headed to the private golf course. That said, it’s a better choice for reliability over an MB SL.
That shifting, absolutely stunning...
Car is great and all, but I really love the music selections you pick for your intros and transitions. They always seem to catch my attention and sound great when I'm watching with theatre speakers.
It’s one of the cars that can be passed down for generations
without spending a fortune on repairs & most features still functioning
In 25 years the LC 500 will be as revered as the Cord, Auburn, Duesenberg, Packard, Pierce Arrow, and Delahaye.
Mr Goose's smirk is epic. He may be making all dentists sad, all the happy retires unsure, but he happily elevates the quality and durability of this last hurrah of classic Lexus. If I won the lottery, I would get a Bespoke as my cruiser.
Also damn that blue interior is gorgeous 🤩
As is that blue paint colour
that mpg is actually mind blowing
I don't care if Mercedes releases an SL with 1200hp, I'd still pick the LC500 above the SL!
Once you drive it you’d blindly go to Mercedes
@@naveenthemachine Why?
@@klabauterknabe because the Mercedes is faster drives better has more features and more elegance
@@naveenthemachine 1. the SL will be a nightmare to own outside of warranty
2. only the S63 is faster, which is almost twice as expensive
3. elegance is subjective, to me it looks way more aggressive than the LC does
I honestly really like the SL but quit the 'blindly go for Mercedes' fanboy talk and be objective. These cars don't overlap in terms of price, and Mercedes has no answer to the staying power of the LC, which is why the previous SL absolutely tanked in value and this one will be no different.
There are clear reasons to go for the LC.
@@xIcarus227 but at this price point you shouldn’t even be concerned about reliability
The audio quality is superb for a convertible. I can hear both of you with the top down and the engine revving.
When I bought mine in 2020, I was told that this car is a "sensorial experience". Took it with a grain of salt, but it's true. To a point that I bought it then for a couple of years, but still have it and intend to keep it for as long as I can. Never felt like that in another car yet.
Someone on my campus has a LC500 bronze coupe, it’s a remarkably striking car. The tan interior option is also brilliant.
The fact that he compares it's price doesn't necessarily mean it's apples to apples. But for street driving the use case might be similar.
Agree with you 100% this is a rolls Royce coupe competitor , not a sports car
Mark: tell me all about negative things
Also Mark: *V8 go brrrrrr*
It's a special car, and Mark's criticisms are in the minds of people who own Porsches. The people who buy this car have owned or currently own other Lexus products, MB SL's etc. This is just what they are looking for - an emotional, beautiful, crafted experience. Things like cowl shake and body rigidity at 8 or 9/10ths - simply are not what this demographic care about, and I think Mark puts too much emphasis on that point as a demerit that somehow is going to shew-away the 100 people who buy these each year for other reasons.
A terrific car worthy of our attention.
Well, when a twenty year old Civic runs the traffic signal in front of your LC-500 it better be able to do something beyond activating the air bags.
Joe…
Well.
@@JohnFromAccounting I think somebody was benchmarking an MB SL from back in the day. And said we can do that too. The coupe was just a bonus.
Was wondering when the last LC500 video will drop when you single-handledly sold half the LCs in North America lol
😆
They will do one for its death 💀
Too late to wish for this, but I really hoped for an at least an F sports version
I did purchased my LC500 after watching Mark's video, I'm happy doing all grocery shopping now
I love how Mark tried to drown out Jack at every straight! 😂
This car was the best Akio Toyoda passion project, I’m glad he made it. It’s a phenomenal car.
Also , Koji Sato, now President, was the chief engineer.
One of the best cars in the world. If I had all the money in the world this is the car I would buy, and heck I would buy two!
make it 3 not 2.... Soft top and hard top and a hybrid ...
Perfect timing! Looking at this one very closely. Thanks as usual guys for the best car review channel on TH-cam 🎉❤
any chance to listen to this car and pretend I am affluent enough for it is worthwhile... thank you Mark, and Jack. God bless you guys!
Oh thanks a lot! EVERY TIME I see a review of this car, or see one in person, I spend the next several days shopping for one. There goes my weekend 😂
Cheers!❤
I was just looking for an update on the Lexus LC500 and here it is. I have to say the review on the ES350 made me get one. Thanks guys
Just did the Lexus performance school at Sonoma raceway this weekend with the LCs and oh BABY is this thing special. 10/10 car. Early in my career but have been saving up for one of these for 3 years and having some seat time with one reinforced why it’s the right move
Also would add things get special above 6000 rpm 😩😩😩🥺😡
Schizophrenic. The car that is. Dual personality at its finest, what a work of art. Great vids guys.
I love how the sound of the V 8 washed out Jacks winging
I just love this V8 from Lexus, I’m on my second LC. 😊
The only car that looks gorgeous in any colour inside and out.
You guys are hands down the best reviews in the industry!!! Love you guys keep up the good work
Such accurately heralded precision crafted car! So beautiful too! Will be a collectors item before long. The last of the HIGH quality original Lexus ethos in vault like quality. It will be sorely missed soon
Lol! Jack throwing out the cons while Mark is just letting the LC500 go "V8V8V8V8V8V8V8!!!"
This car has no business sounding that good for its base market. Love it🥇
Jack said this car is emotional but not objectively better than x, y, z, but when you’re spending this type of money it’s an emotional purchase. If you follow head over heart you buy a 30k car.
Well stated!!!
Couldn't have said it better
Yeah but for some people they find that raw speed from a 911 or a Z06 intoxicating and soulful in their own right. The people who just wanna go fast, those cars will make them smile more at least in terms of a new car. I don't give a shit about speed, so for me an ND2 Miata is one of my favorite cars. But I see the appeal of the people who just want a car that goes fast, kind of like what Jack does. Different strokes for different folks.
you buy a used 15k toyota
Well, you don't exactly see LC500 clones on every street corner either.
@@cbotten106 Correct, although they are truly grand touring cars more than they are canyon carvers.
I’d love to get one of these being the last of the normally aspirated V8’s, such a timeless design. This car reminds me of the first gen NSX in terms of build quality.
Love everything about these. My attainable dream car for sure.
New video…..automatic like! LC500 is my dream car.
8:30 How it drives 😊
10:45 How it sounds 😂
12:00 Best out of Japan other than the renowned NSX
15:00 Dual personality
18:00 Well put together Japanese F-Type

My new dream - Wait 10 years for this beautiful V-8 Jekel & Hide to be sold by the dentist who bought it, and buy it at a fraction of MSRP. THAT SOUND!
Toyota has stopped selling the V8 LC500's in the UK and Europe as of March 2024. This car has another year or two tops then it's done. Buy the cheapest 2020+ you can afford right now, these aren't going to go much lower before they start appreciating.
better start saving, these will never be cheap lol

But when it pops up once in a while it’s stands out so much
The V8 alone is worth admission price.
Thank you for the review, I love the channel and your approach
I would love to see you compare this to the hardtop
lol the camera pan to Jack at “John Porsche”
And the smile on his face while he is revving the engine is priceless
You guys, can you just upload the driving segment with just the engine sounds and no talking. That soundtrack is heaven.
I want this so bad! I had it in my mind to buy a 997.2 C4S but now that I’m getting older everything about the LC500 speaks to me.
i was torn between this and z06 until a miata came across my radar and went for that instead.. was quite the different choice but I love it. once my amg is gone, i'll probably end up getting a v8... hopefully this car is still around as an option because it is simply amazing. i could care less about the badge if a car is reliable and will last if cared for.
The least cross-shoppable cars
Torn between a Z06 and a Miata? That's a first for me.
new miata has limited slip differential and i hear the electric power steering allows feeling how close to grip limit car is a bit more. yeah z06 square steering wheel is disgusting , its not good for loosing traction in a controlled way , not good for letting the wheel slide into netutral around a turn if your driving slow and lazy, etc. toyota owns lot of mazda so i hoping they put 1.6 liter inline 3 (europe has a even smaller inline 4 engine) with electric assited turbo to make it linear power output per linear input, feeling naturally aspirated as possible with variable exhaust diameter etc. they should probably make it auto dual clutch and have a h pattern clutch pedal manual simulator , like porsche did, because most dont enjoy driving much and drive auto , so they dotn have to develop 2 entirely seperate systems and give option to drove as fast as possible with auto mode to manual drivers. ferrari patent rying to make turbo engien sound better by harmonizing echos or something . imagine new prius or miata with seaglass pearl(2017 one was troqouise blue green in warm sunlight and blue in colder(bluer) lights) with mazdas 3d paint style like in their bright red... i like the quartz crystal color, but i think lexus atomic silver can be good with less of a matte color and more of a variable shinyness like mazdas shapes+3d color. i actually want a trunkless compact 4 seater lower structural height version of prius with 2 liter inline 3 sound, which could be very simialr to 2 seater coupe, that isnt afraid of looking weird with 2 silhouettes for lightwe weight areo.
new toyota miata competitor and new mr2 according to people who have been good at knowing (leaking) toyota plans , at kirk kierfields videos
