    I worked in the fire direction center for US Army Field Artillery. We had to take into account EVERYTHING when calculating a shot for a 5 meter hit zone from 19 miles away.
    Some things we had to account for include THE CURVATURE OF THE EARTH, the spin from the rifling of the barrel, the temperature of the barrel, the temperature of the powder bags, and of course all of the meteorological data. Missing one of these causes the round to land several meters outside of the 5 meter area you are trying to put the shell.

    • @Cauldronb0rn
      @Cauldronb0rn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@BloodyCrow__ Technically if they only skipped that step it would still put the round close enough that you're going to eat shrapnel still. Its more of a creating as little collateral damage as possible while still eliminating a target kind of thing. Even the standard M67 fragmentation grenade throws little pieces of metal very far away. I know this because in basic training we stood under a little metal shack while waiting down the hill to throw our grenades and like 10 seconds after you'd hear one go off up at the top of the hill you would hear pieces of it hit the metal roof. HE artillery is like that but with waaaay bigger chunks. I think the immediate kill radius on grenades is like 15 feet of direct line of sight and will wound out to 30 or so. A 105mm HE shell will kill out to about 150 feet and seriously wound anything within a football field length. Shrapnel from it can go all the way out to around 1500 feet or more. The 155mm high explosive is around 3x the previous values.
      But basically around the impact is a definite kill radius of like 50-250ish feet where you are very likely to die to the pressure of the blast and or the shrapnel. That area is what the accuracy is trying to keep on target.

      Like the video earlier said, these people believe in multiple conspiracy theories. They're often people who are mentally unwell and/or have been wronged by the government in some way and they find camraderie and solace in these groups and echo chambers.
      They've all convinced themselves that this IS the truth and the lizard people and glowies are out to get them and the normies are sheeple that need to wake up and be saved. That's why they're trying so hard to prove it to others, and when they're inevitably wrong they naturally think they've been sabotaged by the governments.
      They don't just want to believe in it, they NEED to believe in it. It's the fantasy they've built to protect themselves.

    • @Anthropomorphic
      @Anthropomorphic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      There are a couple of arguments on that issue, actually, although they're not very convincing. The ones I've heard:
      - It's a way of undermining the Bible's authority, because the Bible supposedly says the Earth is flat.
      - It relativizes the concepts of up and down, which in its turn relativizes the New Testament's description of Jesus as ascending "up" to Heaven.
      - Among those who believe that the Earth is flat and surrounded by an ice wall, and that there are untold amounts of undiscovered and unclaimed land beyond the wall, "round Earthism" is said to be a way of convincing people that resources are limited, thus reinforcing the dominant economic paradigm and hierarchy.
      - It's part of a package deal, along with evolution and heliocentrism, meant to demotivate the masses by making them believe that they're not special.
      - It's a scam perpetuated by bureaucrats and academics to trick people into giving them money.

    I find it hilarious that they say that "the government doesn't let people go to Antartica, so the ice wall must exist".
    They don't really let alot of people there for a couple of reasons, one being that too many people would disturb the flora and fauna that is found, and studied there.
    Then there's the main reason where the government doesn't want Antarctica to end up like a flat Mount Everest

    Flat earth is funny.
    Directed energy weapons, though.. it's technically not a weapon, but the US Navy has had a focused microwave emitter in orbit since around 2010 as part of the reactivated Star Wars project.
    When active, it looks like a blue beam coming down from space. Anyway, it's currently in use by CalTech and is attached to another program for orbital solar panels and energy transference. It's called the Microwave Array for Power-transfer Low-orbit Experiment (MAPLE) if you're curious.

      That doesn't make any sense tho-- microwaves wouldn't travel that far, and are completely invisible. Not to mention we have anti-drone boat mounted IR lasers and plasma channel electric guns idk why we'd ever try to put something like that in orbit of all distances.

    • @claymore1555
      @claymore1555 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Microwaves are invisible. The "beam" itself appears a shade of blue for the same reason the sky appears blue during the day: refraction of light by excited (heated) particles.
      And you are correct: vehicle mounted defenses like Iron Beam and offenses like LANCE are also part of the reactivated Star Wars project.
      The satellite mounted microwave emitter was deemed a strategic failure and apparently made available for purchase. MAPLE is currently operated by the California Institute of Technology.

      Exactly why I would assume that wouldn't work, the most they could do from that distance is the worlds least efficient signal jammer or something. Satellite orbit is really only good for info transfer/gathering. Otherwise bomber drones, poison, mines, sniping, remote activation technologies are all better. Can't see the radio signal going from a hidden control device to a tiny fire starter in a planted position. Don't even have any signals or mechanism failure to worry about if you just poison a drink, so many ppl overestimate how much work is necessary for most military operations.

    I saw a chatter say something about a theory that we are in a black hole and it got me thinking. Since black holes are constantly absorbing things would that explain how the universe is ever expanding and that the creation of the black hole we are in was the big bang. What if all the black holes we see are just smaller universes just like ours but have a shorter life span. What if the black hole we are in is just a smaller black hole inside of a larger one and it does that to the infinite degree. I honestly really like the idea that we are inside the black hole because that explains to my brain how our universe just suddenly started. Until you start thinking about how the black hole we are in formed and all the stuff that it is absorbing.

    The strangest one I've heard was some nut claiming that the Earth is _both_ a globe and flat at the same time. The moon is really a mirror reflecting the massive super earth globe with a separate flat earth inside each crater. Each flat earth has its own firmament, and that combined with the ice wall protects us from being invaded by the other flat earths and from wandering out into the wasteland between craters.
    💯 insane. Could make for an interesting story prompt though 🤔

    Flat Earth is fascinating in how everyone who converted was once taught the globe model in school. It is genuinely a movement that, should the earth prove to objectively be a sphere, should never have gotten off the ground in the first place.
    Even a dullard should be able to refute them with basic observations. The problem isn't that they are stupid but they genuinely leave no stone unturned.
    I have gone down the flat earth rabbit hole with a sledgehammer and have left it scratching my head in confusion. If anyone is to blame for the explosion of the flat earth movement then its the crooked people who feel the need to leave a trail of bread crumbs all over the place. The movement is primarily fueled by the crime and corruption it inadvertently uncovers in its never ending search for 'objective truth'.
