    Microcenter has this and the Ender 3 S1 at basically the same price. Would I be dumb to buy the V3 SE over an S1, if it’s the same price? I’m still a beginner printer, looking to upgrade from my EP3 pro that has given me so many issues

  • @bentilman9103
    @bentilman9103 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What do you think about this versus the Ender 3 S1? It looks like this one will be faster and it looks different, but not sure which to get.

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      This has most of the same features as the S1 for $179 less MSRP. You can actually get the S1 for much less than $379, but I still think the V3 is the better value. The V3 prints faster and IMO looks better, not that the latter point is super important.
      I believe the main differences are that the S1 has a slightly larger screen, comes with a filament runout sensor, has knobs for the bed, and it has G sensors for a type of input shaping, plus a slightly taller print height. For some reason the S1 is advertised as being ABS capable while the V3 is not, but they have the same hot end, extruder, bed, and nozzle specs. Now if you step up the the S1 Pro, you do get the upgrade hot end, nozzle, and touch screen, but then it's $439. The S1 Plus is for larger printing and has the touch screen, but is $529.
      The only other advantage is that the S1 likely has more support and mods since it has been out longer. If this is your first printer or an upgrade from a very cheap printer, the V3 would be my recommendation. The price is just so good for what you get. If you could get an S1 Pro for the same money I'd say probably do that, but otherwise unless you really want the resonance compensation input shaping on the S1, go V3.

      Neptune 3 Pro does have some more features like a filament run out sensor and a textured pi bed out of the box. They both have the same size build area if I remember correctly.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's really going to be up to your needs and how you are using it. The Elegoo Neptune 4 is a better print for the extra money but it's also loud so if you are printing in the same room you are sleeping in that might be a big problem. I do have a video about the Neptune 4 here th-cam.com/video/wRK1XIysr2k/w-d-xo.html
      The Ender 3 V3 SE is a lot quieter for sure, to the point that I had to check on it a few times to make sure it was still going. It is a slower printer as well compared to the Neptune 4 but definitely a lot faster than the original ender 3.

    No, after about 10 prints the PC bed is great, sticks well and is easy to crack off. Only these youtube videos where they've printed twice is this an issue. Don't was your time or money. Heat the bed up to 60 and use your nail to pry it off a few times and it isn't a problem at all.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You really can use whatever works for you but I really dislike printing on PC. There is always a point where something sticks too well to it and leaves material behind or it ends up ripping over time.
      Smooth or textured PEI works a lot better and I have never had to replace one in like the PC sheets.

      Yeah I do this with every video and all of the stuff I use in them. It doesn't matter if it's Creality or some random company selling a tool that I use in the video. If someone watches the video and wants to buy the product and uses my link of course I'm going to get a commission from it. This is my full-time job.
      That being said I'm not paid to say anything about the products that I get and I'm just saying what I think about them and leaving the decision to buy it up to whoever watches the video.
