@@DeltaScalper As I was watching the video it occurred to me that this should give an incredible boost to Tesla's already long lead demand times for those that can afford a Tesla. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Teslateer but I really look forward to Chinese EV manufacturers making their debut worldwide. The multitudinous smaller cheaper and often basic EV's should frighten the living daylights out of ICE manufacturers everywhere - and that of more than a few EV manufacturers including Tesla. The latest MG4 & 5 EV's are now on sale in EU & UK for around €35000 & £28,485ish respectively. They seem very respectable with a reasonable amount of functionality. Teslas have great levels of functionality but you almost need to don your pith helmet, safari outfit, & dig out your bush machete before venturing forth into the infotainment menu - there's so many levels of info to slash your way through before you're able to rescue the princess from the lions and hyenas.

@@tedmoss I only meant in the sense that Tesla, although absolutely brilliant, and having succeeded beyond everyone's wildest dreams, are finding themselves stubbornly stuck in the luxury car segment. I assume you, like myself and thousands of others, have closely followed the company's progress over the years, and as such, have seen many comments around the: "we had to save for 3yrs, 4yrs etc to be able to afford a SEXY car"? So, if you extrapolate that out, out of the many, many, buyers, how many of those would have (still) opted for a Tesla given the opportunity to buy a much, much cheaper EV? Quite a lot would not have I think is the probable answer for a fairly high percentage of buyers. TBC: I'm not trying to denigrate Tesla in any way, shape, or form. But I do think that Elon's Californian, Silicon Valley, wealthy mindset's origins really show up in the obsession with fancy bells & whistles, most of which will rarely feature on most people's radar - just as with any other gadgets from washing machines & microwave ovens right through to our digital devices; we choose the everyday basic functions & largely ignore the rest. Most of us couldn't even tell you what the various bells & whistles were, let alone how to use them. That's been true for 40 years going back to when video recorders started to become more sophisticated; I remember mine this way.🤪😅
That’s awesome for tesla owners but other ev owners I hate seeing teslas charging at our stations 🤣🤣🤣 we need more fast charging stations everywhere in so cal , at reasonable prices 😁
Hi Kim. Thanks for the demo video. I must be using the APP wrong. Don't seem to find many EVGO units in Upstate NY or Mass. Not many in Boston area either. What process do you use to find a station?
The evgo app, PlugShare and on board the tesla itself all should populate chargers within your vicinity. EVgo is expanding and building out now but they’re definitely the most reliable by our experience.
I’m in Boston and SW Florida and have seen EVGo in Boston, Quincy, Chestnut Hill, etc. There are only a couple in SW Florida and I’m trying to get one in my city.
Not everywhere it's definitely gone up by me but it's still no where near the price of gas. It isn't going to stay cheap forever since more and more people will need to charge they will increase the price to make more people charge only when they need to. Also inflation and energy prices have gone up a lot because we still rely a lot on natural gas to make the energy.
Why would you believe EVgo is all green? The power system uses power from all kinds of sources, almost all of which are not green, power is "fungible".
@1:53 I hear a lot of CCS owners are not happy sharing the chargers either. I've seen a few arguments at AE chargers already. Edit: A lot of AE chargers are getting busier by the day, at least here in socal. So I can see why people will not be happy
CCS refers to Combined Charging System. It combines a J1772 AC charging plug (5 ports at top) with a 2 port DC charging plug on bottom. The much smaller NACS Tesla plug achieves both AC & DC charging on one 5 port plug. IMHO, the North American Charging Standard (NASC) is much better due to its compactness.
It’s kind of silly to call it the “North American Charging Standard” just because Tesla changed the name a few days ago. CCS is clearly more standard 😝
To make it simple this will allow you to charge from 10-80% in around 15 mins the J1772 will charge 10-80% in around 4 hours(more or less). The CCS adapter is for trips and J1772 is for home or hotels.

I agree and eventually every car will use a standard(probably CCS) so this won't be an issue anymore. Although I do like the tesla connector a lot more than CCS since it isn't bulky and is easier to use.
As a person who loves universal plugs I understand why the major motor companys didn't want to use the Tesla plug because of intellectual property they basically would be paying Tesla forever until you know Disney Plus vs Netflix type thing

I think so. The auto charge feature and also the ability to reserve chargers sets them apart. They seem more catered to tesla owners which we obviously like.
@@ItsKimJava 🙏
Specific to DC fast charging (and excluding Tesla) Electrify America is the largest. EvGo is 2nd, followed by ChargePoint.
@@AugustBanks Thanks August for the straight-up... 💪 I dont want to be signing up for all these damn subscriptions just to find out it won't serve my needs 🙏
@@AugustBanks NOW the big question is how many of these undesirable (to me) alternatives have "working" non-nightmare apps and chargers to slog through ⁉
Great work. Great video.
Where is the link to buy it?
I prefer EA pay the $4.00 for the kwhr .31 when doing long road trips on my 2017 bolt ev.
My city only has 3 of their charging stations and none of them have a Tesla connector. The next closest EVgo charging stations or over 100 miles away. But luckily my area and State has a lot of Tesla Supercharging stations.
I bet most of their chargers don't have tesla plugs and she happens to live near one of the few in the country that actually do
@@wwecallofduty123 I did find out that supposedly they are replacing their network with the newer stations that have multiple connectors and that could take a long time.
But I would like to know how they can claim to use 100% renewable energy. How exactly does that work? Aren't they tied into the local grid of each City? And those 100% renewable.
Thank you. Great insight
Do all EV Go have the tesla adapters?
Not all
How was your model x charging so fast? I tested my adapter (OEM), and I couldn't get above 200kW (185kW was my peak). This is at under 20% battery and preconditioning.
4:53 giggity
Great video Kim! Thanks. Anxiously awaiting my 23 MYLR (1st EV). Had a question on the EVGo as we'll be going from AZ to ME within a few weeks of receiving our new Model Y. On their app where you arrange prepay and mentioned being able to reserve a charger, does it show you the status of the station you are going to as in how many total chargers vs how many available? I would think it would be confusing to back into a charger and find out it wasn't available as it was reserved. After watching this, will definitely get the CCS adapter and activate the 3 month EVGO trial to give it a whirl. Thanks again!
Would also be interesting to see how well this would work at Electrify America stations considering they don't always have the most reliable reputation.
I use EA 150 station close by all the time , haven't seen it go past 128kw but happy to pay 31c at any time with a membership , compared to 50c Tesla charges now , Los Angeles .
@@DeltaScalper Dirty power is cheaper.
@@pinkelephants1421 Why would it frighten Tesla? They went there to help the Chinese, knowing it was impossible to fulfill there mission to electrify the world by themselves. They need all the help they can get, and so do we. Fighting stubborn bureaucrats all the way.
@@tedmoss I only meant in the sense that Tesla, although absolutely brilliant, and having succeeded beyond everyone's wildest dreams, are finding themselves stubbornly stuck in the luxury car segment. I assume you, like myself and thousands of others, have closely followed the company's progress over the years, and as such, have seen many comments around
the: "we had to save for 3yrs, 4yrs etc to be able to afford a SEXY car"?
That's been true for 40 years going back to when video recorders started to become more sophisticated; I remember mine this way.🤪😅
We don't have EVgo chargers in Canada :(
You're not missing out
Are you damaging the battery by using this fast charger?
wears it faster, yes. Should only be use when needed, long distance travel.
That’s awesome for tesla owners but other ev owners I hate seeing teslas charging at our stations 🤣🤣🤣 we need more fast charging stations everywhere in so cal , at reasonable prices 😁
Great video Kim, thank you for covering this. Also what is the second display you have on your 2018 model 3. Thank you in advance
Here it is.

@@ItsKimJava thank you Kim
@@ItsKimJava thank you!
I’m in Boston and SW Florida and have seen EVGo in Boston, Quincy, Chestnut Hill, etc. There are only a couple in SW Florida and I’m trying to get one in my city.
i charged my chevy bolt at home nightly,, i drove 1450 miles an only payed $63 bucks for one month
charging has gotten way too expensive on the Tesla charging network. I remember when it was significantly cheaper then gas
Lots of research to prove it either way.
They will off-set with green energy.
It is probably offset somehow but imo that isn't truly green since companies have been caught lying about offsetting their emissions
were can I purchase this adapter?
On the Tesla website.
I can’t find it there whenever I look
I’ve checked it’s not there
I love This #Tesla Video
@1:53 I hear a lot of CCS owners are not happy sharing the chargers either. I've seen a few arguments at AE chargers already.
Edit: A lot of AE chargers are getting busier by the day, at least here in socal. So I can see why people will not be happy
People will have to get use to it soon everyone will be able to access every charger
What is the difference between that and a J1772?
@@Chukonu5 Did you know there are more EVs with NACS connectors than CCS in North America? CCS is much too big & heavy for the same function as NACS.
I couldn’t find “AutoCharge+” app 🤔
I believe you need to register your car/vin for the feature to be available.
@@ItsKimJava, register your car Vin with “EvGo”? I couldn’t even find the app on my iPhone App Store 🤔
@@tjam4229 The app is called EVgo, not autocharge plus. That's just the name of the feature. EVgo is available both on IOS and android.
@@ItsKimJava , oh thanks. I have that app. I checked it, but didn’t dig deep enough. Thanks so much for your replies, I know you have a ton of people to respond-to. Awesome videos too! 👍🙏
I think all cars should be able to use all chargers. I find it funny that some of the Tesla owners I have met got so upset that CCS cars will be able to use Tesla chargers, but they also think they should use the CCS chargers. Some people are so hypocritical about this charging station change.
It's 4:20 here all day long 😜
“Open b___hole” hahahahahaha. 😂
...good one!
That was useful even for us non-EV owners. Trying to educate myself…
Kim, how do we tell the battery to pre-condition when heading to a ccs charging station?
You can enter a nearby supercharger on your Navi to precondition the pack. Id imagine Tesla will include a feature soon to allow you to precondition the pack on command for using all networks.
I guess evGo is faster than V2 Superchargers but V3 should be mor or less exactly the same…
I've never spent more than $20 charging my Tesla.
Righ?! Same here. $30-$40?
Just wait…
@@aussie2uGA Wait for what?
@@sambira "Electricity prices" continuing to rise. When a larger majority are driving ev's, those stations will continually ask for more. It's too lucrative not to.
@@aussie2uGA You mean like gas and oil? Like that? I'll take the rise in electricity over gas prices. They are much less chaotic.
KJ the “frugal” Tesla Model X owner 😂
i just wished there is one standard for all EVs plugs...gasoline is one style...why is EV diff?
There is one standard.
But obviously it’s American and no international standards are accepted there.
Americans have to be DiFFreNt
CCS is already the standard for most cars tesla will probably follow once they retrofit all their chargers to be CCS compatible since their is no reliable CCS network in the US.
