I saw this movie in the theatre in Florida while I was in Navy training school. To see Optimus Prime near the end stand on my former ship the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) made me lose my shit.
Back in the days when it came to the theaters it absolutely was getting the acknowledgement. At least in Germany, everyone I know talked about that movie and has seen it.
ah of course, the stupid 'underrated comment' that seems to find it's way into every music video and film reaction. It made over 700m at the box office and had 6 sequals, nothing underrated about it.
Fun fact: When filming this movie they got a prototype for a fancy yellow car that they had to be super careful with. It drove the film crew nuts having to treat the car like royalty.
@@Daywalker_27 Yep, it was a concept car never intended for mass production - but then this film blew up and created a demand for it, so they put it into production for the public to buy.
I had tickets to see this in theaters long before opening night! As a child of the 80s I was a hardcore Optimus Prime fangirl and when he first came on the screen, when I heard Peter Cullen _(the original voice actor from the 1980s cartoon)_ speak I literally screamed so loud everyone in the rows around me turned around to look! My friends were sinking down in their seats dying from embarrassment! 😅
I remember seeing this released in the theater and the roar from the crowd when that first Transformer sound played...for my generation that brought back so many great memories and got everyone cheering. Just that sound that plays in the beginning set the tone for GEN X! Still love this movie.
You have no idea how obsessed with Transformers I am, ever since I was a child I've been in love with these movies. My biggest flex is that because I am so obsessed with Transformers, I actually can quote every single line in this entire movie start to finish. Like I'm not joking, I know every single line. I also get mad nostalgia now from the end song, I actually tear up now. I'm so madly in love with these movies and I'm glad you got to experience them as well.
"how obsessed with transformers" *Proceed to talk only about the movies who are litteraly considered the worst transformers peice of media by 90% of the fandom*
You’re obsessed with Michael bay; not Transformers. If you said you’ve spent $40 Million USD over the last 20-40 years buying the most obscure and expensive Transformers collector’s items dating back to the earliest of earliest early-1970s Takara Tomy toys; I’d say you’re obsessed with Transformers. . I can recite nearly word-for-word the entire 2 hour and 22 minute length of Forrest Gump lol. I wouldn’t call it obsessed; just human.
@@Gaspatim You can enjoy Bayverse and still be a fan of Transformers and the other pieces of media. These movies brought out a new wave of fans of Transformers, you have to give them that.
@@xXSkyCrystalXx Not many of these "fans" that bayverse brought didn't become fans, they watched the movies, probably first time they Heard about transformers, they watched it, liked it, it became maybe their favorite movie franchise, and they called them selves fans, but then they never watched a single other things than movies, and there was some who did become fans and watch many more transformers media and became pro at the lore and all of transformers. But do you know how many of these people i've Seen Said that they discovered transformers with bayverse, and that once they watched other transformers media they realized that bayverse was acctually really bad
In Brazil, there is an edited video of Transformers but all the times they say "Cube", it skips the second half of the word, becoming "Cu", the Brazilian Portuguese slang for ass. The video is immensely hilarious when you hear megatron screaming out the top of his lungs "GIVE ME THE ASS!", or Optimus saying "put the ass in my chest". Or the beginning, saying "before time... there was... the ass"
Transformers 1, 2, and 3 will always hold such a special place in my heart, because they were my introduction to Linkin Park. I used to play New Divide off the Transformers 2 soundtrack CD on repeat, and I’ve been a stan ever since. Mike and Chester are my greatest inspirations, and the reason I started making music of my own. REST IN PEACE to that fucking legend
26:50 over 7000 individually animated moving parts for Optimus alone. Second movie has a character that made multiple computers literally explode, you'll know which one when you see him. Also, Transformers were toys that got a cartoon, like everything else in the 80's
Probably because he’s one of the youngest and most childish autobots. Optimus Prime is over 9 Million Years Old when this movie takes places. Bumble bee is only about 10,000 years old. . Compared to humans, a 10,000 year old transformer is mentally akin to a 12 year old human child.
I saw this in the theater the day it came out. I was overwhelmed. It was amazing. I literally stumbled out of the theater thinking this was the best movie I had ever seen.
Fun fact, that bit with the army guys calling in and having to deal with a customer service rep is based on a true story. I didn’t see the movie in theaters initially (as I was 4), but I did see the 15th anniversary reissue of the movie in theaters a while back. Truly incredible. The scope and scale of everything, plus the incredible sound design, really make it a movie MADE for theaters.
in one of the later movies, one of the Transformers had such an insanely complex and detailed body that running the CGI actually exploded one of the computers LMAO i hope you keep watching the series to see it, it's incredible and if you ever get the chance to see a Transformers movie in theaters, even if you aren't caught up on the whole plotline, please do. it will never disappoint
Transformers is a line of toys first developed in Japan in the mid-Eighties. It was accompanied by a cartoon that was essentially a half hour commercial. Another Michael Bay must see is, The Rock! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude, I was 7 and no joke I remember every single dude in the theater gasping at the same time when Bee turned into the ‘08 Camaro because that was the friggin reveal of the actual irl car
You HAVE to watch Transformers 2 and 3 now. It's like Pirates of the Caribbean. There are like seven Transformers movies, but only the first three are really good. After that it's going downhill very fast.
Hey Alex, that was a great reaction! I have never realized how accurate Alex is when he says Bumblebee is the Deadpool of cars. That is such facts! His humor is unmatched, he's a mother fuckin badass! And he's also a big softie at the same time! Bumblebee is my favorite character in almost any movie franchise!
This guy experiencing a Micheal Bay movie for the first time was hilarious. He’s known for Transformers but he’s also done a lot of other great movies like Bad Boys , The Rock , Armageddon , 13 Hours , Pain and Gain even Ambulance was pretty good.
Transformers were a toy from 1984 to 1996. It was a Japanese toy where you had cars, planed, tape players, trucks, guns, dinosaurs, bulldozers, dump trucks, cranes, they had, helicopters, trains, city. It was a little puzzle to turn them into robots. There was a cartoon from the 1980s, comics, and a movie from 1986.
Actually, Hasbro bought Transformers from Takara Tomy in 1984. It was only a “Japanese” toy for the first 2-4 years of Takara Tomy making them. They only gave Takara Tomy credit because it was cheaper to make the toys in Japan than in the US. That’s it.
That's just the first generation. Transformers have continued on (in one form or another) for pretty much the last 40 years straight, rebooting the franchise with a new cartoon and line of toys every few years. The Transformers are still going and never really stopped.
The pretty girl with an accent is Rachel Taylor, an Australian actress, well known for various TV roles in that country. Tranformers 2 has another Aussie actress; Isabel Lucas, but she plays a baddie.
The ending with Optimus’s speech and linkin park following is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, cinematic moments in movies as a whole. Chills everytime.
Watching this movie in theatres was and still is the best viewing experience ive ever had at a cinema. Everyone got up, clapped and cheered as the credits rolled. Legendary film.
At 53:19 I remember in the theater after seeing the whole movie and this build up to the Linkin Park got me so hyped! The theater experience was truly one of a kind, for every Transformer movie. I don't care what anyone says, no critics, nothing. This franchise is one of my favorites for so so many reasons! People say these movies weren't that good but fuck all of them, I love them all!
I've seen every Transformers movie in theater. There are some movies that dont quite stand up to this one, but each of them still have a moment where those of us who grew up watching the cartoon and reading the comics had goosebumps.
Nah, I absolutely refuse to ever agree. I grew up watching the cartoons, my dad was a kid during the 80s when they first released. I had tons of transformers toys when I was a kid, I absolutely loved the concept. Transformers (07) and Revenger of the Fallen (09) are the only ones worth even a second of your life. Once they introduced Marky Mark from the Funky Bunch into the transformers universe, those movies died.
@@johnnyrocket1685 I believe the general consensus is actually the 3rd one is the second best (of the Bay ones), and that the 2nd (or 4th) is the worst. I personally love the 5th, and post-Bay has been pretty good (Bumblebee is great, especially).
I saw it in theaters when I was 7, and I'll never forget it. I ended up memorizing the entire movie line for line. Fun Fact: The guy that gets flicked by Megatron near the end is actually Michael Bay.
I have never clicked on one of your vids so fast. this represents my entire childhood formative years, obsession with how things work and are put together, anime in general, and so much of me. When this came out in 2007 I was 11, and it was the single greatest cinematic experience of my life
man i saw this in theaters when i was like 9 or 10. movie always held a special place to me cuz my struggling father bought me the DVD even when he didn’t have the money to do so.
I can't believe that my great uncle Pat worked on this movie. He was one of the people working on the practical effects. He didn't tell me exactly what he got to work on, but it's still cool to know. He did show me evidence, too.
It absolutely blows my mind to think that for a solid 100 years of vehicles existing, seat belts and air bags were not required. It wasn’t until 1984 that Seat Belts were required in cars, and it wasn’t until 1998, the year I was born, that Air Bags were mandated. Literally just metal death box with an engine and 4 wheels until 1984.
@@johnnyrocket1685 well, for 100 years, individual choice, responsibility, and individual freedom was valued more. Seat belts are a good thing, but It’s amazing how much intrusion into daily life we tolerate now under the guise of some collective good. Looks* in CGI, but those are the worst movies i've ever Seen, usually i like movies even those that people usually don't like, these are probably the only movies ever that i acctually didn't like, and even hated
I had a Bumblebee car, but it was the original Bumblebee form, a bright yellow Volkswagen Beetle. You can actually see the bug in the scene where they are buying cars.
When the rest of the Autobots show up, the running chubster who says "This is 100x cooler than Armageddon, i swear to god" is an easter egg reference to the movie Armageddon, also directed by Michael Bay.
25:42 according to gossip I heard, at the time of the shooting of this movie, there were literally only two cars like it in existence and a stunt man was used for most of the driving because they didn't want the actors to damage the cars. the paint job was very expensive.
One more thing about this movie. When this movie came out that new style of Camaro was brand new. I think I read somewhere that there was only three actual working prototypes in existence at this point and they had to be like super careful with the cars when they filmed because only three of them existed at the time.

He was a legitimate pilot (F-22 Raptor if I remember right) and Bay saw him with his mustache and asked if he wanted to be in a movie. So from then on he was used as the decoy human for the decepticons.
this is the coolest thing i have ever heard, gg 🫡
This franchise seems absolutely PERFECT for Alex’s sense of humor just love it 😂
I saw this movie in the theatre in Florida while I was in Navy training school. To see Optimus Prime near the end stand on my former ship the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) made me lose my shit.
Hahahahah❤️
My dad served on it too, back in the early 90's, with his squadron. VF-213 Blacklions
@@Rummysonyoooo he was a Tomcat guy? Awesome
Such an underrated movie. This movie clearly doesn't get the acknowledgement which it deserves in terms of cgi , story, action
Back in the days when it came to the theaters it absolutely was getting the acknowledgement. At least in Germany, everyone I know talked about that movie and has seen it.
@@milujoTVSame. Only in the US. I remember there being a ton of hype for it when it came out.
ah of course, the stupid 'underrated comment' that seems to find it's way into every music video and film reaction. It made over 700m at the box office and had 6 sequals, nothing underrated about it.
My favorite moment is when Sam says "Sir I just want to ask you why you won't serve me French fries" to which Optimus says "He will not divide us"
Fun fact:
When filming this movie they got a prototype for a fancy yellow car that they had to be super careful with. It drove the film crew nuts having to treat the car like royalty.
The car didn't even have door handles on it. They were stickers😂
It was a 2009 Chevy Camaro, movie came out in 2007
@@Daywalker_27 Yep, it was a concept car never intended for mass production - but then this film blew up and created a demand for it, so they put it into production for the public to buy.
Hey Alex that was a great reaction!
Totally supporting the video and had no other motive to make this comment.
That was me and my daughter!!! Her squeals made me so dayum proud...lol. We were high fiving people around us, seeing this in IMAX was EPIC!!!
As I wise man once said ‘Earn that pay check Tyrese.’ 😂😂😂
Bumblebee was made into a Camero for the movie, but originally he was always a Volkswagen Beetle.
Yeah because Michael Bay hated Beattle
That’s funny because in the scene where they buy Bumblebee there‘s a Beetle right next to him
Can someone give the editor a pay rise, because they are OBVIOUSLY the star/brains of the operation 😂
Bernie Mac killed it as the car salesman

Me too, about knowing every line
"how obsessed with transformers"
*Proceed to talk only about the movies who are litteraly considered the worst transformers peice of media by 90% of the fandom*
Hey Alex that was a great reaction!

Or the beginning, saying "before time... there was... the ass"

Probably because he’s one of the youngest and most childish autobots.
Optimus Prime is over 9 Million Years Old when this movie takes places. Bumble bee is only about 10,000 years old.

I didn’t see the movie in theaters initially (as I was 4), but I did see the 15th anniversary reissue of the movie in theaters a while back. Truly incredible. The scope and scale of everything, plus the incredible sound design, really make it a movie MADE for theaters.

“Hey Alex that was a great reaction!”
Also, Alex should watch Armageddon.
Dude, I was 7 and no joke I remember every single dude in the theater gasping at the same time when Bee turned into the ‘08 Camaro because that was the friggin reveal of the actual irl car
So that’s why they sold so well. That was the first time anybody saw it , genius marketing.
That is a great metaphor
That’s it.
dont forget guns
@@HawkofValhalla I said gun
That's just the first generation. Transformers have continued on (in one form or another) for pretty much the last 40 years straight, rebooting the franchise with a new cartoon and line of toys every few years. The Transformers are still going and never really stopped.
23:04 fun fact, this song is "Pretty handsome Awkward" by The Used. I didn't realize this until way after I first watched the movie
the whole song is in the ending credits.

The first Transformers was such a banger. It had everything, but then it went downhill.
As a director Michael Bay is probably most famous for Transformers. But he’s produced like 50% of all modern Hollywood action lol
Michael Bay made one of the greatest movies ever... Armageddon...lol. I just love that movie.
Armageddon one of the most popular movies of all time. Bad Boys, also.

You need to go farther back. Michael Bay is most famous for Independence Day, where he gained his reputation for destroying major national landmarks

The cybertron cartoon was my introduction and having the Dirt Boss toy as my first before getting Nemesis Breaker and Sideways

Airbags ? We didn't have Airbags. It's the reason Airbags exist. We just bounced our face off the steering wheel.
At least they eventually came out with the collapsing steering columns so people would stop getting speared by their own steering wheel😂😂
It absolutely blows my mind to think that for a solid 100 years of vehicles existing, seat belts and air bags were not required. It wasn’t until 1984 that Seat Belts were required in cars, and it wasn’t until 1998, the year I was born, that Air Bags were mandated.

One more thing about this movie. When this movie came out that new style of Camaro was brand new.
