The shakedown was not without its challenges, but making it to the shop in Denver was kinda like wheeling into the emergency room at the hospital. Whatever your ails, they can fix them. I would like to say you guys should feel damn proud to have built a rig to get you there with no more problems than you did have.
love how humble, real and simple you both can live with more character than most! keep on truckin.....your commiunity is always behind your endevours. You guys rock! thanks
Proud Mama moment - so glad you made it to Denver and I get to hear about "drifting into oncoming traffic" after the fact! Sending love as always to you both and safe travels 🌎
As someone who rebuilt the suspension steering, and the electrical of my 98 4runner. Just on a regular production model the amount of bugs I’ve had to work out over the years is insane. I can only imagine a custom rig like this, it isn’t as simple as just putting these parts together. There are soooo many variables when dealing with custom vehicles. The alignment issues alone. A stock vehicle can give many headaches just lifting them.
You’re on the right path. Set your eyes on the goal and keep pushing. We are all praying for your success to reach Argentina and you will. Reach for the extraordinary or settle for the ordinary. But you already know that.
Rough start to the trip but, no true adventure goes off without a little adversity. I've got one word of advice, reach out on social media when in need. I'm not sure what your following looks like in other parts of the world but, I'm sure if you had asked for help while in WA, people would have come out of the woodworks to lend a hand with tools, parts or even a shop to work on the rig. Reach out in real time, people are more than willing to help and be a part of your adventure.
@@ToyotaWorldRunners ustedes son amazing !! Que la experiencia de este viaje les regale muchas sonrisas y recuerdos cuando el tiempo pase! Abrazos enormes desde 🇦🇷 para ustedes ! 💪🏻
The border crossing at the Peace Arch in Vancouver can be stressful, I would recommend going via the Coho through Victoria next time as customs are done before you get on the boat.
i had a '77 back in high school in the late 80s. My dad bought it at a yard sale in Wrightwood, Ca. No idea how he got it down the mtn to Berdo. I was 15 and i gutted the rotted interior and put in wood wall paneling & bean bags. This is an exceptional rig. Well done.
This might have already been mentioned in the comments, but I would recommend siping those tires. I have the same exact tires and it is insane the increase in traction I have when going over snowy passes. I’ve gone over a pass in a snow storm in 2wd with little slippage with the siping! Sweet rig!
This is RAD, a 70’s Toyota Chinook on a frigging Land Cruiser chassis how friggin awesome is that I love love love this thing, my dad had a 76’ and although it was one of the ugliest trucks ever made (2 wheel drive) it was his fishin rig, he loved it, I hated it but yours has me feeling nostalgic.. I miss him but I’m gonna keep watching you and think about him
Cold and propane are not a great combination. If you can, keep your regulator in a warm area. If you don't they may freeze. Good Luck! Can't wait to see your journey unfold.
Just stumbled on y'alls channel. I started my adventure at 26 years old and became a trucker. I have been over your route to Denver. Brings back memories. Bought a Jeep a couple years ago after 40+ years in the Phoenix area. Now seeing what I could not see from the paved road. Subscribed.

cabbage hill is one of my favorite sections of i84 in eastern OR, and I have many. sorry for your troubles. we just got back from a 4 day trip at 5*F where our water pump froze and heater cut out. but we got it all working again for day 2. keep charging!
Y'all just needed to SLOW DOWN. I've driven that part of the country in the snow many times and the trick is slow, steady, progress. Beautiful video guys!
We’ve been glued to your channel for a while now and hope nothing but the best. Hell if we didn’t have kids we be begging to join this adventure. Hello and happy trails from a fellow islander
You two are animals!!! This thing your doing is an absolute dream...crazy and amazing...the rig is coming along great....hope you haven't lost your spirits...and your making or made it ok..
I would never leave my driveway without testing 4wd for a journey where I know I will have to use 4wd. But happy to see you guys safe and happy and welcome to USA.
Yeah that sounds about right, with border control, did they put the rubber glove on and ask you to relax, the body cavity search goes smoother if you just relax. I'm from the U.S. born and raised, and to come back from Scotland, I got very personal with my border agent, but he was gentle and I'll never forget my first time. haha
4 wheel drive isn't going to help on ice, even if you had it. I live in the horn of Oregon where the weather is very dynamic and not only is freezing fog (can sublimate black ice directly onto the road) but actual freezing rain (rain that freezes on contact with surfaces, glazing them) a constant threat from September to March (or even April, Willamette Valley got snow in Mar/Apr the past few years) I am not an affiliate but we use Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV (the SUV versions have Aramid sidewalls, just pay the extra 30 bucks) and the colder it gets the stickier the tires are - no studs needed, no chains needed, super grippy. But once the ambient temps start pushing above 47°F consistently they start to feel mushy and even our Subie FXT 2.0 starts wallowing like a vista cruiser - black ice, doesn't even notice it. If you actually change to winter tires, there's nothing else like them on the market...I don't like using studded tires because they tear up the roads and the Nokians actually work better than studs so it's a win/win for me.
Go, Go, Epic Journey, I've been thru most of the places you shall pass, but not the Darien Gap, Colombia is epic, off the beaten path, same with Peru,Ecuador...Love your Journey. Peace
I'm sure it would be easy to want to be a perfectionist on the rig and spend lots of time around VI getting it dialed in. Hats off to you guys for sending it!
It was cool to watch you take the same route I took on my trip from the Island to New Mexico, and recognizing some of the landmarks, and picking up some new stops.
