Even when they're not at the top of their prime anymore, seeing an old TH-camr end on a good note rather than it ending with them getting outed as a creep or bigot is a positive outcome that seems to have become a rarity nowadays.

I never liked Fred but watched Quinton Reviews mahoosive video on it and it made me appreciate it more and see what the creator (Lucas) was about. I'm glad I watched it because as a kid, I wasn't so good at separating a character from the actor 😅
Jenna's apology is by far the most genuine, she didn't get cancelled and ran away or gave some bullshit response. She owned up to mistakes that were barely getting traction and that she easily could have just ignored because of how old they were, but she showed the videos, addressed what was wrong with them and didn't try to deflect the blame, she *chose* to leave when nobody was trying to run her off the internet because she actually felt bad about her past and actually felt bad for hurting people.
ppl saying she was overreacting and how she made it a big issue when she wasn't really getting any major backlash from it don't seem to understand that those factors don't really matter. what matters is Jenna knows her words and actions from the past could have deeply hurt people, even if that demographic is small. she did what many controversial content creators/influencers are unable to do, and that is take accountability. it speaks volumes about her character that she would choose to exit the platform instead of brush everything under the rug and continue making huge profit from being an internet personality. people call her stupid or foolish but I think what she did was extremely admirable.

This video really hit me hard. Bashurverse and SkyDoesMinecraft were a big part of my childhood, especially during my Minecraft era where I played a lot of PvP and learned english by finding TH-camrs that did english content for topics that I was interested in. I knew about Bashurverse's controversy and when it first released, I watched the breakdown video. But I never knew he passed away. I'm glad for all the good times I experienced with these two and I'll always cherish them, despite what Bashur did, since I didn't know any better back then. May he rest in peace.
I didn't watch Fred during his prime but I'd get a lot of Lucas' recent food videos in my reccomended & I enjoy them! His recent video reviewing a cheap cruise line is hilarious. He's worth checking out again :)

Julien has a channel that he posts on and has said that while Jenna doesn’t want to be filmed any longer that she was doing very well. He doesn’t talk about her at her request besides that but he did announce when they got married and he still posts videos about the dogs! They have a new greyhound Lonnie and continually foster and then adopt out others. Just a good update for anyone wondering.

i’ve been a faithful smosh viewer since i was a kid and people really don’t appreciate ian enough for how all he did for smosh in the “between years”. when defy shut down they were given no notice and ian was essentially left with around 40 employees to support and no office, resources, or paychecks to hand out. smosh as a channel and a brand has been thriving since they switched over to mythical and a lot of the reason they were able to stay alive is because of ian’s competence as a ceo.

It wasn't bad. Their do not laugh challenges are actually really hilarious. I was an OG Smosh fan too and was disappointed about the change. But the cast are really funny outside of the skits

I still watch Lucas Cruikshank (Fred) and his brother Jacob to this day and have been for years! They’re super funny and I definitely recommend checking them out for some lighthearted content
jenna was one of the most genuine youtubers i’ve ever seen and loved. her apology too was one of the most genuine i’ve seen on yt. i’m glad she’s living her plant mom life peacefully and hopefully happy and seeing her wedding pics made me happy bawl lol, i’m also glad mr. marbles is doing well too 🥹

I'll never forget the day I got to high-five Dan after a small crowd of fans and I begged him at the back gate to come out and meet us when his tour show was over. Such a nice guy, he came out when he really didn't have to to meet some fans who didn't even have backstage passes or anything.
Speaking as a black person, I never really took issue with Jenna Marbles' older content.
I mean, her "controversial" videos are quite tame in comparison to a good portion of bad shit that has been on TH-cam in the past.

Even at her height, she was never in controversy and I was shocked when I heard about it. 2020 was so weird because people who weren't affected by Anti-Black discrimination wanted to be the face of what is and isn't discrimination and we ended up with no real change and now no Aunt Jemima syrup.
Also black here, people shouldn't do blackface and if she offended people and didn't realize she was offensive she should apologize as needed. I don't think she needed to take herself off the platform but I feel that she did that for herself and mental health and not just because of accusations.

For someone who has been on TH-cam since 2012, this was a huge relief for me to see. Many of these OG's lost their sheen because they couldn't adapt or sadly had been exposed for some bigot accusations. Thank you for bringing back memories Tuv.
No, a lot of them realized youtube might have been a fad (and to a small extent, it was) and knew Hollywood was a better bet. RWJ and Fred both went that route. Even Smosh put emphasis on their own website over the years instead of youtube because either one copyright strike or a new competitor website (Vine or Tik Tok if it came a decade earlier) could have ended their careers overnight.

Been watching youtube since around 2006/7. Most of them faded because their faces didnt fit the youtube red era of the platform desperate to impress investors and normie viewers. VGHS by Freddie and Jimmy wong of Rocketjump was the last part of the OG youtube era

As a woman of color, Jenna’s apology video is the only video that I have accepted. I felt that she truly meant every word she said in her video and I hope she and Julian and their dogs are doing well and are healthy.

It’s been crazy to see him shift his content so much. I didn’t like him as a kid, I never watched that much gaming stuff, but as he moved more into personality and vlog content I really started to like him. He’s been the face of TH-cam for almost a decade now, and it’s exciting to see him so successful. I hope he’s able to raise Bjorn into a good kid and that he’s truly happy. His videos on drawing are so entertaining, he’s so good at drawing it’s insane!

For Jenna I can garentee you (coming from a black person) the black face was not even offensive like it wasn't even exaggerated black face nor did she mean it to make fun of or belittle black people, it just looked like a dark tan to me which a lot of people do. I definitely remember how when Jenna was getting canceled for her old content a lot of people began to question cancel culture and what they were doing or achieving calling out people for doing things they've done in the past and no longer do
jenna was never "getting canceled" no one was calling her out, she wanted to own up to her mistakes and admit it because she felt it was right.
Since it gives people no room to grow, change, be authentic.

Ryan: I remember getting so excited to see a new upload from him. Even on his 2nd channel: HigaTV- i watched EVERY video (I dare you and Parkour videos were my favorite). I hope he is happy and sometimes I watch his streams, i’m glad he’s doing what he likes
Lily: i stopped watching her around the time she moved to LA and i’m so happy she’s making big moves still. After watching her interview with Anthony Padilla, it made me so sad to know how screwed over she got from her show.
Smosh: I’m glad Anthony and Ian own their channel again. I still watch smosh and their other channels lol (Smosh pit and Smosh games are the other ones I watch a lot)
Also, Ray is definitely one of my favorite content creators now. But, when i found his tiktok, i didn’t realize he made a song that was so nostalgic for me. my middle school bestfriend and I became friends over the “Booty Store Song” in spanish class💀. i hope she’s doing good somewhere

As someone who was an OG sub for both NigaHiga and RWJ, it's awesome to see them still active even if it's slightly different from their original content. It's better to adapt and they've both done it. NigaHiga and RWJ were the channels I watched more than anything back in the day and I've stayed subbed to them for all these years. MakeMeBad35 is another OG YTer that dipped but had great success in the comedic skits genre on YT and in terms of gaming, I've been subbed to KYR SP33DY for all these years too but he's still active to this day. I loved this video, these were the TH-camrs I watched as an early teen and kinda stopped as time went on, especially when Jenna left. It’s neat to reminisce on that time and see what they’ve been up to.
