Assuming that it's genuine (which I doubt it is most of the time), the moment you start using your pain as an excuse to inflict it on others you lose the sympathy card. There'd be a lot less people in jail if we considered that a valid reason to be an awful, criminal person, especially when it involves vulnerable people like children.

to be fair, with carsons moving forward video, its kind of an example that you can say literally anything in an apology vid and you'd still get bashed for it. That's just kinda how the internet works. And to be more fair, he didn't make any excuses for himself, he just did as the video title said and moved on. So I think the way he handled it was definitely a lot better than how most youtubers apologize.

He has also done a good job with resuming his content as of recent as well, I'm glad he's back to doing TH-cam. I remember how much people had began to miss him about a year or 2 ago, and when he came back people were very happy to see him and I'm honestly glad he did pretty much the same thing after not uploading or just being online as much as he used to. But now he's back on all of his channels and I'm glad his viewership has returned to a stable 100k per video.

The career-ruining TH-camr story that always sticks with me is GameLife. They were a TH-cam channel who made game reviews that got very popular at the beginning of TH-cam's relevance in the mid-2000s...until one of their hosts, Andrew Rosenblum, got in trouble for making some very disturbing harassment and VT-esque threats. The show pretty much ended after that. It's a shame because at least some of the show's other hosts seemed pretty cool.
Your point about Carson is one that I agree with and that I think a lot of people miss (or maybe dismiss). He's not a ped0, predator, groomer, whatever Twitter wants to label him this Tuesday. But the power dynamic is still an issue, even if Carson didn't mean it. I doubt he was intentionally and maliciously exploiting the girls' admiration of him for his own sexual gain or actively pressuring them into sending him stuff, but he was kind of a dumbass for not considering how his internet fame might affect their ability to make decisions, and I think them having felt pressured in those situations is justified. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
I'm a little confused on how you find that it is his fault that this girl felt pressured to "send him stuff" as you say, especially since you also say you don't believe he was intentionally pressuring them. However, I don't believe anyone ever said that they felt pressured to send him photos. I don't know if it was somewhere outside of this video or if you simply understood what tuv said differently than I did. Quite frankly I don't even understand why the girl came out and said that he was grooming them when she was of a legal age (at least, I think she was,) Also, I don't understand why you said, "I think them having felt pressured in those situations is justified." I don't think he ever did any convincing, from his perspective he was just sexting some barely legal girl. Immoral? (Debatable, but I think yes.) Illegal? (Of course not.) Malicious? There's gonna be some felt pressure when you're being flirted with and asked for nudes from by a celebrity you look up to and admire, even if that celebrity didn't try to maliciously pressure you. I think it's mostly on him because he's the side that was not under pressure in this scenario so he should've had a clearer head than the girls, yet he didn't take that dynamic into account when he was texting them and didn't make sure they were on a level playing field before going into intimate territory. Straight-up saying that he groomed them was probably a step too far, but I can understand why it could feel like grooming from their perspective, because of that pressure resulting from the status imbalance.

I have both and am currently going through a pretty bad depression desperately clawing my way out and never once have I ever gone against my own morality just because I felt terrible. Maybe, shocker, these people just lack empathy

Carson’s career was hardly ruined compared to some others who completely disappeared. He’s back now for a while again and his videos are doing pretty good and slowly getting back to how they where

Carson's situation was the only situation I actually excused due to the fact that he was 19 and she was 17. He wasnt 20 or 25. I can understand the power dynamic but to call him a sexual predator or pedophile is kinda stupid and misunderstand the pedophile definition.
