I joined TH-cam on my other account in 2007 and as influential as these 2016 TH-camrs were and still are they weren't really around when I joined the platform. I consider ShayCarl, Nigahiga, Smosh, DaveDays, CommunityChannel, DaxFlame, LisaNova, LivaLavaLive, Shane Dawson, Fred and those creators the OGs. If you want to cover an older topic not many have covered, I recommend looking into one of the first gatherings of TH-camrs called the 789 Gathering in NY. I am not sure what type of things you'll uncover about it, but it might be worth a look.
A lot of the OGs still make videos though, so it's a bit harder to do a video on those types sadly. Then again some of them also had drama so maybe it could work, the problem with the real OGs is TH-cam wasn't that popular in 2007, there was only a handful of us that used it in school, the OGs definitely brought in the viewership but most users won't really know much about them unless they're still active now

I really still can't believe what happened with Tobuscus, I used to worship the ground that man walked on and he was my OG first massive TH-camr that I watched Non-Stop. After the allegations I was hoping things could go back to a semblance of normalcy but he just kind of started doubling down on who he REALLY was, after that I moved on to Markiplier being my big TH-camr but I still take everyone including him with a grain of salt, because you never know.
