    I have to say i'm impressed. I have never seen anyone else (other than me and my old apprentices) set the front frame a stud thickness back. Everyone else I see do it lets one thickness of plasterboard (at a huge centre) sail up on the stair side and it always seems a cack way of doing it to me.

      I know it’s nice to have everything tied together I think! And stops it being kicked out easily too 👌

    Instead of building that mini frame across the door for plasterboard, couldn't you just leave the rakers and the "joists" 15mm back from the door studs. That way the boarder can just slide the board up there instead. Everyone does it differently and every site wants it done differently, just though I would say tho 👍 keep the good work up

      Yeah I know what you mean! I just tie it all together for strength and I’ll probs end up putting mdf on the front. Nice one 👍

      Nice one! We use Paslode nails for the frame and fisher fixings for bolting the time timber to the wall 👌👍

    How do you know how high to build the bulk head?

    • @ashleydavenport3794

      minimum head height on the stairs is 2m, but i always try and give it plenty more than that (aprox 2.1 - 2.2m)👌. so i work out how far my bulk head is coming out and plumb a line from the stair string upwards then work it out the measurement from there. hope that helps, cheers for your comment 👍

      Cheers mate, when you set your walls around the stair opening do you go of the joist or the drawing?

    • @ashleydavenport3794
      @ashleydavenport3794  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bmxerboynathan depends how vital the measurement is! Like if it’s a small ensuite then sometimes I’ve had to build the joist out a bit to get the measurement but most of the time just go to the joists 👌

      @bmxerboynathan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok thats fair enough so if your wall is coming off the stair joist all the way through you just put it on the joist and then laser the wall through to the end
