    Got just a little over a week until I finish my Lvl 2 Carpentry NVQ. And I'll be qualified? I don't believe it. There's things I've seen is this video alone that I've never ever seen in college. Certainly rather nerve-racking.
    I haven't forgotten my stepdad telling me "Driving lessons only teach you to pass the test, when you really learn to drive is your first two years on the road. Likewise, learning a trade at college will only get you the qualification. You don't really learn to be a carpenter until your first two years on site,"
    This video has just proved the man right 🤣

      Hi pal! Yes that’s very true. Are you trying to get on sites at the min as well? You’ll learn a lot more when your on site 100%. Good luck! 💪💪

      @@ashleydavenport3794 I've been trying to find site work for a couple months now. But down here on the Isle Of Wight, there's not even enough jobs for all the experienced chippies, let alone the space for newly qualified college students like me 😂

    What do you do if it starts hammering it down with rain, I did a set on Monday when it was terrible rain and a couple of days later my ppn gun has a solid red light? What could that be?

    • @ashleydavenport3794
      @ashleydavenport3794  ปีที่แล้ว

      We set the first joist 35mm off the block which is the thickness of the 3x2 we use so it’s set up ready for straps. Hope that helps! Cheers for your comment 💪

    What method do you use for marking your hangers?

    • @ashleydavenport3794

      Do you mean like where the stair well trimmer is? I just measure 800mm off the last joists (not the actual stair well trimmed) so then it runs in for boards. Or 1200mm if it’s 600 centres. I wanted to get a clip of that but brickys had radio on and forgot later on 👎

      @@markb1971all the roofing chippies are the same 'havent got the gear for 2nd fix', truth is they usually can't cut the mustard!
      I've been a chippy on site for 26 years and I've always been told to do everything otherwise you limit yourself to what work is available, one day I'm roofing the next fitting kitchens, saying you haven't got the gear is a cop out, if their nail gun broke they'd buy another.
