Great job. I like to see the framing method done like this. A couple of things to try. Mark out your wall positions and door openings on the floor but don't fix the first soleplate. Make your soles and heads as a pair as you have done but deduct the thickness of the as yet unfixed soleplate from your uprights. Knock all your walls up in the reverse order you are going to fix them and stack against one wall. Just before you stand your walls fix the first soleplate. Stand walls and nail them all together before picking your level up to plumb them. Much more room to knock frames up and no soleplates to trip over.

Then use this piece to set out your 400mm centres rather than a tape measure all the time that way your noggins end up the same size apart from ones near walls and doors obv .great channel btw e.g 1205mm from the wall or door opening will give you a center line then half the thickness of your stud then draw a line then just use your piece of wood at 399mm .1 mm thickness for your pencil line hope this makes sense

Yeah I’d recommend it, it’s got its down sides - lot of hard graft, out in all weathers and expensive to get going but I suppose every job has its ups and downs. It’s worth a good try at least! Haha good luck 👌👍
@@ashleydavenport3794 great video mate would love to watch more I’ve actually never build a house with breezblock for the externals so do they get strapped out and 15s on or would it be 12s done some crazy council build outs suppose most of the work is just in the framing and up here in Scotland it’s always just kits only built framing for deckings and a few renos and that’s some quality nailing btw don’t get better than that ma man
@@superherobeatdown so most of the new builds round here are breeze block inner skin and traditional brick on the outer skin! some builders do the timber framing tho and just face it up with brick (thats probably how its gonna go more and more) and we just frame out the joists and roof. then do the internal walls like this on the video! crazy how every place does it slightly different. cheers for your comment! 👌
Dont you have to put damp course under your plates? Nhbc down my way would have a fit, reckons it stops the plates drawing moisture out of the screed/concrete, also make us do 400 centres but on some sites they use metal stud at 600 centres and no centre noggins??
Yes mate we have to use damp on the ground floor but this is on the 1st floor (joists) so it’s sound. But now we have to put damp on the walls! Hahah getting silly now. 600 everywhere apart from bathrooms walls for us!

Quick question ash do u struggle with different ceiling heights across the room or are u cutting all the studs different lengths across a wall if u no what I mean
Not to much. I check the heights per wall so I don’t cut for the hole of a house in one. If the wall is massively out I might cut the last few legs slightly bigger to make the difference but don’t tend to get much difference! 🤞
U must have good brickys I've just done a house and had a 50mm difference from end to end apparently that's in tollarance so every stud is massively different so can't build it like you do

Think it was around £900, that’s everything in till its plastered. And there was a lot of soil stack boxing’s and a few more walls downstairs too and extra bits 👍
Hello mate, you have a some plate nailed to the floor and layout is done, why have you transferred the layout on x2 more plates? I do the same as you, but I nail the sole plate to the deck, mark it up and then only transfer the mark into one more timber tgat would be the top plate. Why are you transfer the layout on another 2 plates. Cheers bud. 👍🏼
Hi mate, we have to double up the sole plate that’s just in the spec on that job. So I’ll set out the rooms and stuff with the first sole plate (marking some to work out door way sizes etc) and checking everything for square. Then I’ll mark up the next 2 (top and bottom plate) for the centres and door openings etc and just fit them over the top of the sole plate already fixed down. Hope that helps. Cheers 👌💪
hello mate i have done a year course level 2 diploma at college in carpentry and joinery but have no site experience . what do you reccomend doing without doing a apprenticeship?
Could you get in touch with a few joinery company’s and start doing a few days with them? And get some on site training that way? If you did your cscs course that’d make the process easier too! 👌. I did a similar thing and went from full time at college in my first year to an Apprentiship in my 2nd so worked out alright! Hope you get sorted soon

Tools u use or want why? Nails? Screws ? Lumber ect.,.! You post it guve it a chance !! We want to see others work and see if your doing something we need to use or do?? Stairs and all the wall maybe 2 days! Then a re visit when all other trades are done probs about a day then to finish off
