    I had the opportunity to demo both models and ended up in the forged tec. It was between these and the ping i525 for me and these performed slightly better. Been in the bag for close to a month now and it’s the best set of irons for me I’ve had in years and scores are starting to show it.

      Those were the same two options for me too, I hit the 225 also but wasn't my favorite hit out of the three. I have forged tec on order because I need xstiff shafts and can't wait for them to come

    I recently bought the standard Forged Tec. It was only my second set of irons since taking up golf 9 years ago, up until now I've had a set of Mizuno JPX irons that were much more of a GI iron than the Forged Tec. I really like the smaller profile and reduced offset of the Forged Tec versus my old club, and they're so, so easy to hit despite the smaller profile. I'm really impressed by the height I get on my irons too. Overall, very impressed with what Cobra have done with these irons.

    I just got fitted today, and ended up with the Cobra Forged Tec. I absolutely loved hitting these clubs! Can’t wait to get to the range, and out on the course. Great feel, with long, high, pure shots 😀

    Paul here again Michael, yes love em fantastic. I had them fit in fact I tried every 7 I blade they have in the shop and for me the COBRA FORGED MODEL TECH X are great. I have never shot 80 but now 81 that's 6 shots better than my handicap and I've only used them 5 times .

    Thanks for this review, Michael! As far as loft goes, I think Cobra is just keeping pace with the trend in hollow-bodied irons, which is more towards a 7-iron around 30º. This is great for me, as I like the stronger lofts! Mizuno dropped their hollow iron from 32º in the HMB to 30º in the Pro 225. Only the T series in PXG irons is 32º (I think) and the rest are 30º or less. Taylormade still has the 32º P770, but I think the Forged Tec is supposed to compete directly with the P790. Although I will say that on the website, the marketing doublespeak does seem aimed directly at the "better" player: a lot of talk about playability, precision, and "player-preferred feel," so you have a point.
    I have the 5 and 6 irons in the Standard Forged Tec, and so far they've performed very well. Feel is great, balls gets up, but still has a penetrating trajectory. Feel is vastly improved over the previous generation; way less tinky and more solid. Spin is low, but at my speed (6 iron is low-mid 80s) I'm landing the ball short and running it up to the pin anyway, so that doesn't concern me. And really, they just look fantastic. I needed more help in those two irons, but wanted something that didn't look clunky. They look great in the bag along with the PXG 0211 STs. And once I wake up and realize I have no business playing blades I'll buy the rest of the set and it'll all be good!

      I don’t thing the “geared towards stronger player” is double speak…there are some of us out there who are excellent ball strikers who have lost swing speed over the years…I can’t hit a large headed GI club, but need the distance after two hip replacements and back issues…these are geared towards that player…not TH-cam reviewers who swing their 7 iron 90mph…wish there was more realistic testing on some of these clubs that aren’t geared towards tour speed swingers, or even above average swingers.

  • @sande242
    @sande242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Personally if I was going to buy the x model I would only buy 7_ pw , as 27 degrees is the strongest iron I want to play . I already have a 25 degree hybrid and a 22 . After the 42 deg Pw, I would be looking for a46 , 48 specialized wedge that matches my 52 and 56 . So I am in the target audience as a 57 year old 20 handicap and I will only buy a set of 4 clubs 7-Pw!

    Thank you for the review. You do an excellent presentation. In regards to loft forged tec is designed to compete with P790 and Mizuno 225, which have similar lofts. Substantially less expensive than Mizuno. A winner IMO. Thx. Mark

    Cobra has player irons that would suit the "loft you would like" so not sure what that was about. These are in line with everyone else in the players distance category. I went with the forged tec x and I play to a 9hc. They just performed better on miss hits but I did need to adjust my distances but accuracy is unbelievably good for the lofts.

    Cobra can reduce the loft up to 2 degrees so 7 iron at 29.5* could be adjusted to 31.5*.
    I love them strong lofted and at 1/2 inch shorter length.
    Keeps my spinny shots down a bit.

    I disagree with your wish that they had delofted the irons more…players irons aren’t always geared towards players who have 90mph swing speeds with the 7 iron…there are some of us out there who grew up on blades/mbs and cannot hit/hate large club heads, and prefer a players iron, and have no issues hitting the ball square, but have lost clubhead speed. These would be great…wish more iron makers would do this…some strengthen them a tad, but not enough for many…there are plenty of other player irons that don’t provide as much help, including in the Cobra lineup…leave these alone…if the lofts are too strong, play something weaker.
