    I got fitted for the forge tec x just as the season was starting. These are amazing irons and so soft off the face. I've not been fitted before and I'm 6'7 so it has been quite the learning curve this year but I love these irons lot

    Loving my Forged Tech. Softest feeling iron I've played in 30 years. As good a feel as any forged blade I've ever played. Without the loss of distance on off centre hits.

    Well done Gabe. Glad to see you’re enjoying your new play ground. 🥳 I always like to see what the companies are coming out with Technology wise on their irons. If you ever get a chance I would love to see the Takomo 101t, 201 comparison. I have been a big fan of Ben Hogan irons for many years with my last set being the PTx pros. Unfortunately, Looks like that boat has sailed for the last time!

    Great review. I'm a 4 handicapper and older on age. I play cobra blades and have a love hate relationship. Looking at getting the forged tec irons for a bit more forgiveness.

    The Wilson D9 Forged are the best value for major manufacturers! DTC forged iron sets are a super value! New Level, Sub 70, Haywood, Takomo, etc.

    Hello Gabe... Irons look very nice. The super strong loft is off-putting tho. Would love to hit them. Lol.
    The weight difference you were feeling is probably because of the swing weight.
    Forged tec =D2
    Forged tec X =D0

    Wilson D9 forged or Mizuno JPX-921 Forged are best value for the buck out there. These are good but a bit upright lie angle for many players.

    Are these Forge tex better than the new PXG 0211, that the question ?

    Excellent video Gabe! What irons do you have left to try? Also, I decided to stick with vero x1 because I am not the ideal player with swing speed ball seems to be aimed at and also didn’t want a firmer ball, which x2 seems to be based on what I read online. Curious if you stuck with x1 for same reasons or others?

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      None left! Just the on-course test of these Forged Tec X and then I’m making a decision.
      I like the feel of the X1 better. It could just be me but I seem to hit it longer as well.

    • @ryanwalters694
      @ryanwalters694 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LetsPlayThru you should. I believe they are 2 degrees stronger. The reason the X doesn’t roll out as much is because it’s meant to launch high and have a steep descent angle. Which makes it hit and stop as opposed to rolling out

  • @jimmypickett2449
    @jimmypickett2449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the x. I had them 1* weak from cobra and ns pro 950 stiff soft stepped 1x. My 8-aw ballooned. I set the 7-aw at factory loft and it was amazingly penetrating ball flight like I wanted. I don't think the loft change did it by loft numer. I believe the center of gravity with the tungsten can't be lowered because it is so low underneath. Just and fyi if you are thinking about adjusting lofts for a mixed set.
    These are the only clubs I've hit that are comparable to my epic forged 19's. Love your videos!

    I like this channel lots. I look forward to your videos every evening and I like the concept of a mere mortal. But something has been nagging at me, something is not quite right, and now I know what it is. You have been using that bit of course which goes up the centre. I think it is called the fairway, I have seen it from a he rough. As a lesser mortal a review of the best clubs to get you out of trouble would be interesting.

    can I ask a question? I love the idea of these, but someone that wants "game improvement irons" and doesn't like anyone one wanting to "improve" their game and not have one fade and one draw and one go straight the fact you keep saying these are really "workable" worries me!!! thoughts on workability vs forgiveness?

    Can’t wait to see you hit them on course…..I thought you hit the forge tec really well on course (original) and was surprised didn’t go longer…..I thought they were comparable in distance to the p790 like the prior iteration of the forge tec was but seems like the forge tec x is more in line with p790 distance wise and forge tec closer to p770?

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Gabe!
    How would you rank the following 3 irons in terms of feel, which one spins the most and shot dispersion circle for both accuracy and distance consistency. Mizuno Pro 225, P790 and the Cobra Forge Tec ? P.S. Do you think the newest PXG 0211 performs just as good as the 3 irons I listed above? Thanks! Joe

    15 yards of roll out with a 7 iron is a lot….. you got your sim set up for concrete greens??? Idk how you play golf with that much roll out with a 7 iron.

  • @therealad4342
    @therealad4342 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really enjoy your videos but I’ll say this test could’ve been better if you set the green a bit shorter. With the forged Tec you only hit the green one time so all we really saw was rollout vs how it actually interacted when landing on a green. Iron distances should be all about carry, not rollout 👊🏻

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I can only set the greens at 150 & 160, nothing in between. 150 would’ve been too short. But if you look at the on course videos you’ll see the difference, which honestly isn’t much.

      @@LetsPlayThru I have the same simulator and you can adjust the yardage to the green in both FSX 2020 and FSX Play. On FSX 2020, use the smaller screen to the right and you can right click at any yardage you like and it will change the distance to the pin. It works great for working on short game. In FSX Play there is a short cut up in the right hand corner that allows you to select distances to the pin. There is also a toggle switch between the yardages that allow you to zero in on more detailed yardages than the ones listed. Both programs have the feature only during the practice games, not when playing actual courses. It took me a while to figure this out and thought you might like to know. Thanks for all your great content!

      Yes in practice, the shots didn't roll out much more if any further on the greens than the regular Forged Tec

  • @randymahony8157
    @randymahony8157 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why play a club that is stronger lofted?Why not just play up 1 more club ? Why hit a 7 that is really a 6 and no spin to hold a green?

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The magic of modern golf club engineering is the stronger lofted clubs don’t penalize spin and trajectory nearly as much.

    These are terrible and the worst out of the forged tec generation(one length) Im talking about. Just my opinion. The best ones that I liked the most are the 2018,2020,2022 ranked from best too worse (I owned them all a few times at that went back and forth with all three about three times except the 2022’s bought them and was totally like why did Cobra do this smh sold them and will never buy them again. Callaway forged apex are way better than those 2022

    • @method341
      @method341 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why are they so bad?

    • @jadamane
      @jadamane 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@method341 over the generations whatever technology they say they put into these irons (so called get better and better) got worse and worse. In my opinion and I’ve owned each generation about two too three times back and forth I feel 2018 was the best feeling and performing clubs . 2018 you can work the ball much,they were accurate,and they felt so so buttery when sweet spot hit. The other ones didn’t produce that same or better performance . It got worse … so if I were you I would try all three or simply go with 2018 model. Just because a club says 2022 make the brain say this one will be better because it’s new. That’s not always true… and on top of that I know people personally and we all say 2018 models are better . We’ve tried the others and they don’t amount too 18’s
