I watch a number of club reviews but must say your approach is great. Straight to the point, not much waffle and very honest. The player hitting is obviously a very good player but he was honest to say that even he could see the forged Tec X going into his bag. Great work guys, keep it up! Great content and very informative
This is one of the videos I've been waiting for. I've been curious to see how the Forged Tec X performs, the local shop has them and they're good looking clubs. I'd really like to see a comparison of some of the newer game improvement irons like the Cobra Forged Tec X, Cobra LTDx, Callaway Rogue Max and Max OS, and TaylorMade Stealth - and maybe throw in the Callaway Apex DCB.
I’m 75 and still playing well with an index in the 4’s. Please think about older golfers when you recommend clubs. I tried the Tec 7 iron and it was very good. But with the Tec X I hit it higher which was great. My carry went up to about 150 yards. I ordered at set of Tec X after hitting a 7 iron outdoors for 15 minutes. I got the KBS lite steel shaft. I can’t weight until they arrive. Bob
I received to TEC X irons in 7 business days (they were promised in 14). So pleased with speed of delivery and the irons. For me, there’s nothing better out there. Bob
Lemme tell you, I grabbed a set of the Forged Tec X irons after hitting them with the KBS 85 S graphite shafts and I am absolutely in love with these irons. Everything about them is impressive and they raise the confidence factor exponentially. My consistency has improved dramatically now on par with my driver, fairway wood, and hybrid. View at set up is great and the feel off the face is awesome.
Nice review, guys! Thank you for this. I have 5 and 6-iron in the standard Forged Tec. Great irons. The feel and looks are a big improvement on the previous generation, which I thought was already a great club! But the new ones are softer and they got rid of the "ting" feel.
I never really understood when someone said "I don't need to hit my 7 iron 200 yards" I would think that as long as the landing angle and the spin is enough to stop the ball, who wouldn't rather hit a 200 yd approach shot with a 7 iron vs a 5 or 4?
Only challenge is the gapping with the wedges. If I have a 7iron travelling over 200 yards unless you are very good with having a 730, 9, 1030 swing you will need 5 wedges. - Thomas
i just bought the forged tec x. very impressed with the forged tec x. i tried d9 forged, mizuno pro 225, forged tec, and forged tec x in my last fitting purchase. truly believe the tackier grip, lamkin vs a winn in the forged tec, along with a lighter swing weight of the forged tec x vs tec in the same shaft d1 vs d2, made a world of difference. id rather do too light than too heavy all day. hard to subtract weight.
I think there are 3. But, the two older versions have a black and a copper release as well. The tech is still the same though between the colors I think.
Nice looking irons by cobra ! Would the forge tec x be suitable for a upper 70 mph swing ? Just curious if one would still be able to get good height with them. Thanks for the great videos guys !
It will depend on your swing profile. We could always tweak the loft a little weaker or the Forged Tec may be a good option too if you need a little more height. The COG is positioned to give a higher launch profile - Thomas
Great question Martin. I have come close and won a few mini tour events. There are a lot of good golfers out there. My game does just keep getting better and better but I'm also not getting any younger. Maybe I am a late bloomer? - Thomas
Well, you talked all over lower loft, lower launch,, lower spin - but you did not mention (a) what was the spin compared to the club he normally uses for that distance, since that is the relevant comparison - not what you show here and (b) did you also note that the clubs tested both hit same height ?
@@2ndswing Thanks Thomas!!! That would be great. I have the 225's and I love them but I think the X's or even the Regular FT would help me a bit more with distance.- Demetri
which of these is comparable to p790? I game 718 AP3's right now and my cousin just got p790's and I noticed his club heads look a little more forgiving than mine. I'm looking to upgrade and want something similar with the forgiveness...would that be Tec or Tec X?
Can someone please confirm if the stock shafts for the standard forged Tec iron is 115 gram kbs $ taper lite? That’s what all the websites say Including cobra except for kbs site which says 105. I know the one length is 115 gram stiff.
Why don’t these companies give you an option for the more forgiving model with lofts that aren’t so crazy? There is no option to get the version that is easy to hit and goes straight, without also getting the ridiculous lofts and distance.
It's the trend of the industry. Even Mizuno has gone to 30º in 7-iron in the Pro 225. Now, it doesn't bother me, because I have a slower swing, and I get along with strong lofts just great. I do understand your frustration, though. You can still always count on PING, which has "retro spec" and "power spec" lofts available in all their irons. So you can get a super forgiving G425 or i525 head with 33º in 7-iron. And there's the Taylormade P770s - very easy to hit and weaker lofts. Of course, you can order pretty much any irons with the lofts tweaked a bit.
There is always the option to order these clubs with more or less loft. I agree loft jacking is a thing but the way the heads are designed if you have 5* more loft on the same head it will go to the moon. There are many times when I order the loft differently for our customers - Thomas
It is very close to the same loft... little difference in COG. I also hit higher lofted fairway woods high and spinny but the clubs are designed for different shots on the course - Thomas
It is the industry trend it seems like every couple generations they get half a degree stronger. You can always order the loft how you want it and many times I tweak the lofts - Thomas

YES! Love this idea we have done similar videos discussing loft, stay tuned - Thomas
Cant wait to get my forged tec x delivered 4-pw kbs just payed £625 brand new absolute steel 👌

Would like to know Thomas’s thoughts on how these compare to the P790’s; in terms of forgiveness, feel, and distance.
Forged Tec X goes further and is more game improvement compared to P790. The Forged Tec will be very similar to P790 - Thomas
These are some sweet irons but I can’t get away from the MIM irons. They feel amazing! Any word on if they are coming out with new version of those?
I would love to see a comparison between all the Forged Tec years of irons. Are there 3 or 4 different versions?
I think there are 3. But, the two older versions have a black and a copper release as well. The tech is still the same though between the colors I think.
Thanks for the suggestion. We will have to track down some older models and complete this test - Thomas

Yes stay tuned for an updated players distance iron comparison - Thomas
