Robin Williams is one of those rare actors that can make you laugh and cry in the same movie, incredibly sincerely. His eyes don't lie. This came out when my parents were getting divorced so it hit home hard, and literally. "It was a run by fruiting!" 😂 RIP

In the original script of Mrs. Doubtfire Robin Williams & Sally Field characters got back together instead of actually divorcing but Williams & Field where against doing the film that way because they where afraid it would give kids whose parents are going through this false hope so they rewrote the ending.

It's so funny, I saw this as a kid. Now that I'm grown I see how much the mom was right about him totally irresponsible. No one's saying his heart isn't in the right place, but he's throwing some big birthday bash and talking about taking a vacation right after he chooses to quit a job? A good one too. You know that voice work paid well.

yeah one of the reasons this movie was good, IMO, is that it was grounded and courageous enough to show that... most of the time... people who get divorced or even break up don't actually get back together and you gotta figure out a way to move on, in stead of falling into the typical Hollywood cliché of every couple always finding their way back to each other.

Yes, Daniel WAS making her a bitch. The birthday party, for example. He didn't talk to her. In fact, went directly against her rule of not having a party due to the son's grades. He throws this huge party with animals, kids on couches etc. He was not paying attention to the party so it went crazy to the point neighbours were calling her AND the police. And she arrived home, after a long day at work, to a party she had to stop, animals she had to handle, a house she had to clean. He could have talked to her, they could have done a small party if he had convinced her to. With people actually paying attention. Him going against her was undermining her as a parent while also forcing her, yet again, to be the strict parent who doesn't know how to have fun. Which she would be perfectly capable of if she wasn't constantly cleaning up after his fun. He was acting like a child. She was a single mum of 4. This happens to a lot of women because a lot of men refuse to be parents even within a marriage. All the parenting is on the shoulders of the mother. And parenting isn't all fun and games. There's responsibilities, there's rules, there's having to take care of the kids, having to get them to study, etc. He was all rules as Mrs. Doubtfire. He invested his energy in the home as Doubtfire. If he had been acting like that before the divorce, she wouldn't have had to divorce him. You can be funny and fun, and adventurous whilst being reasonable too. But for him it was all fun, fun, fun. He gets to treat the kids to all the stuff mum forbids behind her back while she is seen by the kids as the mean, rule making parent. It's utterly unfair. I mean you can only argue with a person who refuses to listen for so long until you've just got to give up.

If you reversed the roles in this movie, all the men who claim this is a mens rights movie would have been 100% behind the mom losing custody. that so many think of Sally Fields character as a villain in this movie is astounding. Just how much BS are people supposed to put up with before they put a stop to it? Man had the skills and drive to be a good father and husband the entire time and just couldn't be bothered until the chips were down. And even then, instead of taking his three months to improve himself, he used it to commit fraud, contempt of court, stalking and other crimes.

That’s just an opinion not backed up with any facts. The stats actually tell a different story. Single motherhood has exploded, fatherless homes are the norm and then we wonder why kids have issues.

Divorce used to be stigmatized but now it's glamourized, which has had a horrible effect. I would have agreed with you at one point but now I'm not so sure. My parents have 5 divorces between the two. Hypothetically, if divorce was EXTREMELY difficult, but not illegal, people would be much more selective about who they date/marry and they would be more inclined to fix their relationship instead of throwing it away, which has become all too common in today's society. We don't try and fix or work things out anymore, we just throw shit out and get a new one.

Then don't get married. Divorce should be rare and should have to have documented reasons. no fault ruined marriage and families, and it was by design. If it's "what's best for the child," then marriages should be enforced regardless of happiness. NOTHING is worse statistically than single motherhood. Period. There is no close second only a FAR distance second. Now listen to the "for the kids" lohsers scramble to justify the true motivation: "for the wammins."
Thankfully, all this BS is coming to an end. Societies in the west are waking up. The free rides for vajynas thanks to the family court system are breaking down swiftly. When that ends, marriages return, and they know it.

This movie is amazing showing the flaws in both Robin and Sally’s characters. Daniel was childish, irresponsible (regarding chores and decent upkeep of the household; basically minor necessities of living) he wasn’t awful or terrible, just not the best husband. Miranda was definitely noticeably jealous of Daniel’s relationship with their kids, and it shows a lot, but she’s a good mother, albeit a little selfish (all she had to do was give him a chance to improve and be able to see the kids; as it’s very clear the kids would definitely motivate him to do so) and she’s also a woman who wants a man who actually cares about her. So Daniel may be a terrific father, but as a husband it was clear they were better off apart.

It makes me really sad to hear that he was battling with depression and alcoholism etc. Apparently he didn't have the nicest childhood. I never met him, but I miss him. RIP.

The script writers were against smoking in cartoons (that hurts the body) but were okay with a 12 YEAR OLD hoping for 2 strippers (that hurt the mind, ruin relationships, create lust and sex addictions, and infect societies)?!! Men be messing up males and using, manipulating, objectifying and abusing women constantly. Laughing and making immature comments about it. As a therapist myself, sex & lust / nudity addiction (known and unknown) is at the root of so many issues, neg brain wirings, and betrayal traumas. And grows worse and worse as it saturates nearly everything now trying to normalize (program) what’s actually unhealthy and not normal, for trillions of dollars by mental, hyper arousal, and orgasm enslavements. Hollywood and media know what they’re doing. Sadly...

I think it's interesting how you understand Daniel's "I'm addicted to the kids" but when Miranda is expressing how she feels its "see, women are too emotional."
You did make some effort to understand Miranda's view, but I think you could benefit from digging a little deeper when focusing on the women in these films because they do seem to get less understanding than men and are kind of brushed away as a stereotype.
I really enjoy watching your videos so please take this as constructive criticism from someone who wants to see you succeed and not a hater 🧡

No happy marriage ever end in divorce. If there’s a divorce, there’s a reason. As a child that had my parents back and forth, married 3 times, I will tell you that if they aren’t happy, it’s a very toxic environment. Let them be happy, even if it means divorce. I still think you should try and try to make it work, but if it doesn’t work anymore, then staying together unhappy isn’t good for anyone. I however have learned from my parents, and am 17 years in a happy marriage, and I plan on until death do us part 😊
