One thing Arnold pulls off excellently in this scene is the fear his character feels when he sees the Predator coming after him; he's lost all of his friends, has almost no weapons, and is injured. He is the prey and he knows it.
I love how relieved Dutch sounds when he says, “He couldn’t see me.” It really hammered home just how doomed he felt, but now that he’s learned one of his enemy’s weaknesses, he’s invigorated with the knowledge that he still has a fighting chance.

In all likelihood you are most likely to die of dehydration and hunger while parasites such as flies, mosquitoes and ants feast on your flesh and deliver you diseases and infections.
this has to be one hell of a terrifying scenario to find yourself in. your squad is dead, all killed by an unknown enemy, you're running away trying to create angles to evade your hunter. you have no backup, no equipment, your only weapon for defense is your knife and you think you've evaded your hunter, only to hear and see that it's not giving up. and then you unknowingly use the hunter's weakness against it. predator was well ahead of its time.

Anyone else notice at 2:30 when the Predator lifts it's head, the shoulder cannon lifts also, and turns in the same direction that its head does? It's such a subtle thing, but it clearly shows some kind of synaptic link to the weapon. And to think this was made in the 80's.

I also love the scene where the Predator does first aid, no magic gel or anything that instantly heals the injury, he actually has to work to treat the bullet wound. I'm pretty sure being covered in mud and running through the jungle wasn't fun but I sure enjoyed the movie!

The body acting by Kevin Hall in the subtle way he makes Predator pause, clench and unclench his hands and lower his head in disappointment is top notch. It adds a human emotional element that makes it less sinister and peaks our curiosity about what exactly this thing is.
The scene as Kevin Peter Hall goes skipping down over those rocks,it cuts a little short here I think you see him again briefly moving stealthily across those big stones (No CGI just a 7ft tall man in the suit) It’s seriously Gotta be one of the most brilliant little shots in cinematic history..So iconic and so realistic and it just captures the vastness and beauty of the jungle they’re in and how the predator will go off to his little spot in the jungle and Arnie retreat to his own little area in readiness for that final battle…It’s a masterpiece this whole movie
Kevin did such a wonderful job as the Predator. I was only 7 when this came out and was hiding from my old man trying to watch this. I was scared out of my pants to say the least. Nothing in cinematic history will beat the heart rate I felt when I first seen his face and he let out that UNGODLY roar.

I love that, for once, old Ah-nauld actually plays a *smart* character. Dutch was able to deduce early on that they were not up against human enemy soldiers, that the predator was using the trees, that while it could see the metal of their trip wires it would not be able to see a trap made from organic material, that it was hunting for sport, that it was the mud that concealed him, he was able to set up multiple home-made traps, and course if it bleeds, they can kill it.
This scene (and by extension the movie) is a master piece. So much suspension, I always find myself exhaling when Dutch does. The only problem I have with this scene, is when Dutch whispers "it couldn't see me". I don't like how a movie that usually can get points like that across with no dialogue decides to spell it out for the audience in such an obvious way. Also it's been shown that the predator has really sensitive hearing, so it's kind of odd he didn't hear it when he's maybe 30 feet away. Its a tiny nitpick, I still love this movie.

I love that, for once, old Ah-nauld actually plays a *smart* character. Dutch was able to deduce early on that they were not up against human enemy soldiers, that the predator was using the trees, that while it could see the metal of their trip wires it would not be able to see a trap made from organic material, that it was hunting for sport, that it was the mud that concealed him, he was able to set up multiple home-made traps, and course if it bleeds, they can kill it.
The 100% commitment of the predator to hunt its prey always gave me the chills

This scene (and by extension the movie) is a master piece. So much suspension, I always find myself exhaling when Dutch does.
The only problem I have with this scene, is when Dutch whispers "it couldn't see me". I don't like how a movie that usually can get points like that across with no dialogue decides to spell it out for the audience in such an obvious way. Also it's been shown that the predator has really sensitive hearing, so it's kind of odd he didn't hear it when he's maybe 30 feet away.
Its a tiny nitpick, I still love this movie.

The original Predator is one of the most awesome creature / character designs in cinema history! Predator and Robocop are in my top 5 in their design and look.
