This is a great movie, and iconic, but I really liked the approach that Prey took. I like the idea of the Predator going after others that are normally other Predators, and putting it into an interesting context where there's less technology, I just thought that was so cool.
It's extremely deep when you think about it. I remember when I was a kid I heard from a friend who read the novel that Dutch goes insane or suffers PTSD or something after this whole incident and he is undergoing treatment for radiation from this blast. But he runs away from the hospital and goes missing. That sounded like a very scary and realistic thing to happen.

Which leave them very Paranoid and can commit acts that can harm themselves or other people. As a warrior against another warrior, I always imagined that the predator thought Arnie was saying something mocking to celebrate his victory. Without knowing human speech properly he assumed he was returning the insult as an appropriate pretext to his snatching some kind of victory back from Dutch and robbing him of his moment. Least that's what I thought.
When Arnold was about to kill the predator and he stops and shows mercy you almost feel sorry for it. In pain and bleeding. Then all of a sudden he laughs evilly and commits suicide. That took me off guard the first time I saw this lol. Great and creepy character

Right like it was saying that he was the last man standing in the end and truly was the best at anything and out best an alien at that.. only he knows now what really happened in the jungle and what happened to the previous team in the beginning before his.. in the end he honored his duty knows the truth, did what he had to but lost his team and once his close friend Dylan he honored there lives by defeating that alien and didn’t let them down without a fight to the end.. they didn’t die for nothing he was truly the best and Dylan’s last words to him and he was right

I had to say something in regards to everyone giving props to the Predators design, costume, and actor performance. What I wanted to say was; I'm in 100% agreement with y'all, the fact that they didn't try to pull off some lame 80's visual effects trickery was the best route to go. In the same vein, if you guys liked this movie then if you've never heard of the movie or director let me suggest "The Fly" by David Cronenberg. All of the best effects were practical and not digital. The more sciency, non-existent tech obviously were, but the movie freaked me the fuck out, both as a kid and later as an adult. This whole self-destruct thing was really just a flex anyway. Predators don't mind dying in battle, and I don't think this one even cared if he killed Dutch in the process because this is standard procedure if they get had on a hunt on an intelligent planet. I like to think he was laughing because even if Dutch survived, no one would really know what happened here and Dutch would never prove his victory.
I remember this was one of the first R movies I was allowed to watch, though my mother made me turn my head at the skinned bodies and the gruesome kills, but luckily I got to see the whole Arnold vs. Predator scene since it's not particularly gruesome. I was like 6-8 age range if I recall.
I always wondered how Arnold crawled his way into leading the predator to the trap that he's set because he's barely able to get up and run but the moment he realises at the end about the impending blast he starts to run for cover like hell. In fact he makes a big jump as he escapes the blast waves.
Not a very realistic movie. It may have been faking it when he was crawling away in hopes of making the Pred feel over confident. He also may have rolled a constitution saving throw and got rid a level of exhaustion or something.
Im here, in 2022 waiting for the next movie "Prey" on Disney plus and hope is good😇 The final laugh is creepy and perfect, such a shame that in the new italian dub is different. Nothing compared to THIS😨

I think in this scene when the creature is laughing it’s cause even though this alien failed was able to send a message that they will be more coming back.
My interpretation of this is that the Predator thinks in terms of the hunt, and presumes that humans (or at least worthy humans) do too. Which is why he imitates them---he might think that laughing is a human's howl of triumph, or that "what the hell are you" might mean something like "I win"... trying to turn it around on Arnold.

I think in this scene when the creature is laughing it’s cause even though this alien failed was able to send a message that they will be more coming back.

Plot explained badly: Bodybuilders play hide and seek with a reptilian rasta alien wearing Kylo Ren's mask.
My interpretation of this is that the Predator thinks in terms of the hunt, and presumes that humans (or at least worthy humans) do too. Which is why he imitates them---he might think that laughing is a human's howl of triumph, or that "what the hell are you" might mean something like "I win"... trying to turn it around on Arnold.
