The low maximum brightness might have to do with their burn-in warranty coverage, and also their thermal management.

That's fine. I'd rather look at normally bright monitor and have it working perfectly for *at least* 5 years, than to get super bright monitors that burns itself some UI elements in 2 years already.

They didn't go for high brightness and instead opted to offer 3 years warranty, including burn-in. They mutually exclude each other 🙂. I actually prefer this, as I'm using my OLED monitor in a dark room, mostly at night, so I wouldn't crank the brightness too high, anyway, and the 3 years warranty is better value.

I was really waiting for this review as the monitors looks and features seemed to be the best of the three LG, Asus, and Corsair models. Therefore it's disappointing to see that this model has weak brightness levels compared to the others. For me personally the sub-pixel layout and the brightness levels are the main reasons why I haven't switched to OLED (and the pricing of course). I will say I was worried about burn in when getting an OLED TV but I've left it idle on random XBOX screens that were static for like 30 minutes to an hour at a time frequently and it hasn't had any issues for almost a year now. Idk how these monitors work, but with LG TVs they start basically moving barely noticeable sweeps of tiny lines across the TV to refresh the pixels after a minute or so of a static image is on screen.

I don't understand why people focus so much on peak brightness.
Like, sure if you're using the monitor in a very bright environment it's good to know, but honestly anything hitting 200 / 250 nits is more than enough for pretty much any use case.
We're shopping for Monitors here, not Flashlights.....
Also, anything above 300/400 can quickly fatigue the eyes which is really bad for long usage. And anything above 500 can legit start to hurt and maybe even damage your eyes overtime (depend environment).

Could you also start testing the input lag across the refresh range? Kind of like RTings does it - one at max Hz, one at 120 Hz, and one at 60 Hz? Would be a useful metric, since some monitors have good input lag only at their max refresh rate.

or you can hope that one day Microsoft will fix Windows. I have the 45" LG one myself and I have zero problems with text, not using Windows though...

Hopefully firmware updates can fix some of the issues

I feel bad that the topic of brightness dominates these reviews. I've got the LG 27GR95QE and brightness isn't an issue (for me). I game in a dark room and having the brightness at 70 is still plenty for me while not obliterating my eyes. I don't know, it can give people the wrong idea without context I suppose.

I also have the LG monitor, and was worried about brightness due to all the negative feedback about it. I have found that 80%-90% brightness is more than enough for my normally-lit room, and also use 70% brightness at night when all the lights are off.
I am confident in saying that the LG 240hz OLED is the best monitor I’ve ever owned.

Wild concept, but not everyone games in the same room conditions as you… 🤯

I prefer to actually see sunlight and not live in the same lighting conditions as a radiologist.
"I dont see why people talk about brightness" same paragraph "I game in a dark room"

Your argument falls apart as soon as you said 'I game in a dark room'. I like sunlight and only close the blinds when the glare is directly impacting my visibility.

I have one. Its ok, the grey's are very distracting tbh, almost like there are scan lines (especially vertical) on those 0 to 5% greys.
