I recently polished up by old Acer XB271HU, ips monitor. Just used some car polishing compounds and very happy with the results. I used a drill with a buffing pad as well as polishing by hand. Removed any polish with IPA in between each stage of polishing to check the reflection and after I was finished. I looked into removing the anti glare which is possible " with a long soak with paper towels" but the polariser would be left with no protection and I thought that polishing the anti glare was the best option. I am blown away with the difference, the text is clear the colours really pop and the black's are much darker without the grey haze. I decided not to polish to the point where it was like a mirror but a little before to help with the reflections and its perfect. It really does feel like a different monitor and shows that the panel does not need to polished to a perfectly mirror surface to see the benefits. Watching the 4k LG demo videos on it look so much better now than before, very happy for a practically free mod.😀
@@Daniel_WR_Hart Sorry to hear that mate. I was worried about cleaning the monitor if I removed the anti glare. On reading the way the anti glare works the diffusion is on the outer part of the anti glare so as long as that part is polished up the rest of the anti glare will just act as a clear protector. I am surprised that the pixels were killed, that's a bummer. Are the pixels completely dead or stuck. Sometimes pixel refreshers will bring them back if they are stuck and gently rubbing the area if they are dead. If you get the pixels back you could perhaps add a screen protector to avoid the cleaning problems. Best of luck man
@@boastyy I'm actually not 100% sure if these are dead pixels or permanent markings on the polarizer, because they seem really small, but it's a 4K monitor so maybe they're supposed to be small. They're scattered all around the edges of the monitor so I think I was too rough with it when I removed the frame. This model is like 10 years old any ways so maybe I'll just sell it cheap, but damn does it look good otherwise lol I just wish I knew ahead of time that the diffusion part was on the surface only
@@Daniel_WR_Hart That sucks man. Yeh could be marks on the polarizer or bad pixels. Would be nice if you could find a non working monitor with a good screen on ebay for cheap and you could swap the electronics over and polish the screen up. Don't feel too bad mate, we all have stuff like this happen. I remember when I made a projector using a monitor. Removed the antiglare, was really tough to get off took ages then as I was about to fit it into a frame my sleeve caught on the ffc cable and I tore the ribbon, completely ruined, sick as a pig lol. Wish you the best of luck mate, hope things work out for ya.😀Merry Christmas.
@@Daniel_WR_Hart If you get down to the polarizer, grab a can of 2K headlight clearcoat. It'll put a nice glossy coating on top thats super clear and doesn't distort the light any. Note: MUST say "2K" on it. Nothing else will work the same and be hard enough to last.
I bought one of these and promptly returned it. It had terrible vertical gray lines across the entire screen and I decided I didn't want to gamble on another one.
@@aaronk350 It wasn't the usual banding you get with those panels, it was distinct lines like the pixels were stuck. I had also owned the LG model which I just didn't like the finish of so I had a point of comparison. I do love my OLED though, still running an FO48U, it has like 4000 hours of HDR on time and zero burn in.
so your saying they are flexing with the update. This was i think the 2nd worst monitor at time of release of the 240hz oleds with the issues. At least they tried to fix it!
@@greatabysswalker380 200 is pretty much as dull as a monitor gets. Oled has terrible 100 - 25% panel brightness. 200 looks ok because you've never had a bright monitor to compare it to. I'm assuming your on a TN? Even a cheap ips panel is waaay brighter. I bought the aw3423dw oled monitor and returned it the same day as my 4 year old ips looked better.
@lindseyhunt1090garageb I'm on a 4 year old cheap ips. Wanted to upgrade to an LG 27gr95qe, but the matte coating is making me wait for alienware 27 inch QD-Oled
My current IPS monitor is 350 nits and I'm using it at 25% brightess at nights and 50% during the daylight. Is Oled brightess different than IPS panels, it seems pretty bright to me?

I wish I waited a few months before removing the coating on my monitor. It's hard to clean and I ended up killing several pixels in the process.

I think this monitor is perfect I use mine for everything
Please make a guide on how to buff the matt finish out, it would help us out so much.
Teach us how to buff the matte screens out?
yes pls how do you buff it out
+1 request for matte finish buff out tutorial.
I would be careful because removing that voids the warranties
just bought this corsair monitor for $600, honestly really excited for it as its my first oled.
The Asus PG27AQDM is still on sale from black friday for $835
How did you buff out the matte coating?
SHOW US HOW TO BUFF OUT THE MATTE FINISH
got the PG27AQDM and im lovin it but i wish it had the connectivity and ease of access ports of this monitor.
Would updating to the V106 firmware. Also add the improved HDR function from the v104. I'm still on v103
I just want a 27 inch version of the LG C2/C3...

those grey lines go away after the first pixel cleaning.... My LG did that also

what do you use to check the peak brightness on the screen? what item is it a 1:15?
But this monitor's HDMI 2.1 48gbps bandwidth
You cannot improve something with matte coating 😮
2:17 😂🤣
imma need an x45 review

What do you think is the best OLED 240hz rn? Rog or LG?
Oled is only for gaming, absolute useless for any work
Good for pornography consumption.
"UHLeGiDLy"
216 is soooooooo dim
Is it really that bad? My monitor goes up to 250 and it's more than bright enough for me.
