Only plausible explanation I have for that Iowa sailing broadside on in front of him was that he saw that Jutland charging in and thought "right so that Prince Rupprecht is dead, time to advance" and he was assuming Jutland would kill him but didn't check to make sure it happened.
I've been in a similar position to the iowa, I saw a full destroyer rush the only ship keeping me from moving forward, but for some reason never fired any torpedos. So I have to agree with you on this Dave

I had terrible flashbacks to when I played WoWs watching that Brandenburg. Do you think that guy even understands the scenario? He showed no sign of understanding what he was supposed to be doing. I can't play that game any more, its too frustrating.
Rule of thumb for shooting the Izumo's stern: aim for the hanger door. It leads straight to the citadel. If it's more angled, you can aim for the boat doors on the sides.

I'd say "Flotsam" or "Driftwood" makes for a good name for WoWS compilations. Edit: 17:40 Point of Order: The "Admiral" class was the class of the Hood. Several more planned, none finished. HMS Nelson was the first ship of the "Nelson" class. Two ships built, HMS Rodney was her sister.

Most people have no idea what flotsam is, there would probably me more wondering why the series is named after a city in The Witcher world than those that know what it means :D
Tanker and his cruiser teammates really should have played the objective more here. They would have ended the battle so much quicker if they had just all sat in the objective.
Best guess on the Destroyer, is that he flushed his torpedoes earlier, and then didn't realize they were still reloading when he saw the big fat juicy battlecruiser beached on an island at short range, rushed in and then realized he Fked up.
I imagine the Iowa assumed the Jutland would sink Bubba and thus didn't need attention, hence the gun swing. But the thing about a ship in this game is that it's not sinking until it's sinking.
16:45 (ish) Might have been the Iowa counted on the Jutland to take care of the battlecruiser. Worst sin of any online random battle game, trust your team mates to breathe and chew bubble gum at the same time (as they are usually so focused on the bubble gum they fail to breathe).
I'll give the Iowa a break and guess that they made the classic mistake of thinking that a teammate who had the perfect chance to kill an enemy WOULD actually kill them.
First battle reminds me of a WoT battle I had years ago. I was in my tier 3 Pz. II C, using that insanely high but insanely poor auto cannon. It was a tier 5 matchup. There’s nothing I can do that’ll be useful with the gun so I try to spot the best I can. Unfortunately the enemy team practically lemming’d to the side I wasn’t on. To make matters worse my team was crumbling. Seeing an opportunity I start capping the enemy cap. By about the half way mark I’m last alive facing 8 enemy tanks, most being tier 5. As luck would have it, the last remaining enemies are too far and too slow to stop the cap. In the days of global chat, they admitted defeat and I cap out the enemy. I won a kolobanov’s and an elusive raider ribbon since I was never spotted and completely capped out the enemy. Almost lost the ribbon since right as the game ended one tank did proxy spot me, but the game didn’t have time to count it as a spot. Wish I could relive those old WoT days, but alas, I have little reason to return to that painful grind. Have a good day/night all!
Back in those days. my entire team (ande nemy) lemmingtrained left side. I was all alone on the right flank with 2 enemy cromwells uphill. I was in the Tiger 1 (fully maxed crew, etc...) They where so afraid of me.They gathered courage and drove down. I blew one up (ammo rack if i remember correctly) and the other one i got in the engine = complete stop. Next shot did the trick. I miss the days of Tiger 1 being fearsome.
As long as ONE player is inside the airship zone, it will always move at 18 knots even with other players in it, it only moves at 30 when one of your players is inside an enemy airships zone. The number of players higher then one in an airship zone does not effect speed.
The star of the show, Brandenburg, played badly. If he would have gone towards the airship instead heading south at the 10 minute mark with his full HP the friendly airship would have speeded towards the finnish line giving a solid win sooner. Take a note guys.
Jingles did say the Brandenburg player admitted he didn’t play amazingly, which I will give kudos to; so much of player base seem genuinely incapable of any kind of objective self-analysis.
Man that Brandenburg player really didn't deserve to win that first game the way he was playing. If he was on my team i'd have been so mad (even though he still won).
Actually Jingles, the HMS Nelson and her sisters were all part of the Nelson class of battleships. The Admiral class only consisted of one ship, HMS Hood.
I'm still waiting to show up on the red team in one of these videos. I'm 99% certain it'll be on a day where I just have no patience, rush in, and die horribly. Glorious! 😆
Sounds like me playing on the NA server in a battleship. No patience for the artillery role, I have armour and a massive HP pool, I'm going to use ALL of it! Besides, there's no fun in being secondary specced if you don't charge down the destroyers 😁

At 14:42, the shot does connect to Sejong citadel, but this is a situation similar to Smolensk, where the citadel is too thin to arm the battleship AP fuse and resulting in an overpenetration.
I bet that Iowa assumed the Jutland would use his ripple torps to sink the Rupp and he could focus on the cruisers in open water around B. Never assume a WoWs teammate will do the right thing!

Ship happens does not have an impact like ‘the good, the bad, the ugly’ or ‘ why you heff to be mad’. I have faith in admiral jingles’ wit and the community to come up with something cleverly ridiculous 😊
To play devils advocate, perhaps the IOWA 16:10 put too much faith in the Jutland being competent and not dying to Rupp without at least taking him out

I like Airship Escort in theory, it is a fun game mode. In practice, it almost never happens that anyone plays the fucking objective but instead, stays in spawn and starts sniping with their German BB's and Japanese torpedo destroyers.

It'd be like a grab bag, with the only prereq being that it's a short match. Idk, maybe it's nothing, just my first thought

wild guess: the Jutland did not have the torp angles before got evaporated, the Iowa thought the Jutland got it covered, and the Izumo... well ... I've got nothing.
Unless you actually bother looking it up, or someone is kind enough to explain it when the battle starts, people really go into these without the slightest clue of what's actually involved. Was playing the Halloween event last night and had someone ask "how do you get the buffs?" after they were criticised for sailing past the first one in their DD. They didn't know you had to sail into the yellow marked patch around the beacons to get them.
That first battle was painful to watch, like I get it's funny the red team threw so hard, and that Tanker got a solo warrior while being basically useless, but gods that was still painful to watch. Even more painful seeing HE spam out of German 305s. For those who may not know how this stuff works, a pen is 33% damage, an overpen is 10% damage, and a citadel is 100% damage. So in other words for German 305mm guns, a HE shell will basically at max deal 1200, an AP overpen is 10% so 940 damage. Notice something there? The over-pen is basically the same damage as the HE pen, only on the times that AP actually pens it's 3134 damage. The difference in raw damage so so small that if you get even a single pen from your AP, you will likely deal more damage from your salvo. It's also worth noting that the raw damage of German 305mm HE is less than 1000 base damage different than standard 203mm shells, unlike standard 305 HE shells that are about 1000 base damage higher than German 305 HE. This is compounded on Brandenburg by it's admittedly shorter than average but long reload. 26.5 seconds for horrible HE is just far to long. Even more so when you consider Gascogne has the same alpha strike from her HE, with 4 fewer guns. While Brandenburg has a higher alpha strike on her AP compared to Gascogne. Picardie for as shit as that ship is, has nearly the same reload but over 20k more HE alpha strike. Honestly the whole of the German large gunned ships really should just ignore thier HE. HE works on the DDs and Light/Heavy Cruisers because it pens enough to always allow for damage, so the reduced damage is fine. For large caliber guns? Hell no. The massive reduction in damage makes HE from any of their 283mm+ guns basically worthless, and only really has the benefit of sometimes breaking torp tubes on DDs. TLDR: German 305mm(and really any large caliber German) HE is barely stronger than 203mm HE and should never be fired unless you are targeting a DD, and even then AP over pens will net you around the same damage.

I really think people don't understand the airship mode of game play. Yes you can fram damage but the win bonus is significant too.
Unless you actually bother looking it up, or someone is kind enough to explain it when the battle starts, people really go into these without the slightest clue of what's actually involved. Was playing the Halloween event last night and had someone ask "how do you get the buffs?" after they were criticised for sailing past the first one in their DD. They didn't know you had to sail into the yellow marked patch around the beacons to get them.

That first battle was painful to watch, like I get it's funny the red team threw so hard, and that Tanker got a solo warrior while being basically useless, but gods that was still painful to watch. Even more painful seeing HE spam out of German 305s. For those who may not know how this stuff works, a pen is 33% damage, an overpen is 10% damage, and a citadel is 100% damage.
So in other words for German 305mm guns, a HE shell will basically at max deal 1200, an AP overpen is 10% so 940 damage. Notice something there? The over-pen is basically the same damage as the HE pen, only on the times that AP actually pens it's 3134 damage. The difference in raw damage so so small that if you get even a single pen from your AP, you will likely deal more damage from your salvo. It's also worth noting that the raw damage of German 305mm HE is less than 1000 base damage different than standard 203mm shells, unlike standard 305 HE shells that are about 1000 base damage higher than German 305 HE.
This is compounded on Brandenburg by it's admittedly shorter than average but long reload. 26.5 seconds for horrible HE is just far to long. Even more so when you consider Gascogne has the same alpha strike from her HE, with 4 fewer guns. While Brandenburg has a higher alpha strike on her AP compared to Gascogne. Picardie for as shit as that ship is, has nearly the same reload but over 20k more HE alpha strike. Honestly the whole of the German large gunned ships really should just ignore thier HE. HE works on the DDs and Light/Heavy Cruisers because it pens enough to always allow for damage, so the reduced damage is fine. For large caliber guns? Hell no. The massive reduction in damage makes HE from any of their 283mm+ guns basically worthless, and only really has the benefit of sometimes breaking torp tubes on DDs.
TLDR: German 305mm(and really any large caliber German) HE is barely stronger than 203mm HE and should never be fired unless you are targeting a DD, and even then AP over pens will net you around the same damage.
