10:35 classic Jingles explaining how the Myoko doesn't have depth charge attack planes while the Myoko's depth charge attack planes are dropping the enemy Salmon
With a matchup and deployment perfectly suited and a player who knows how to use his advantages, that's often going to be the case. Like Jingles said, the matchup was ideal for this to happen.
That Salmon captain really did walk into the perfect storm of no bomber depth charges from the enemy team and lack of stealth from the DD. There's no way you could gamble on that and get away with it again in a hundred battles. Most other games you'd get pummeled by battleship and cruiser attacks from behind the DD.
Of course you can play around that as a good sub. You outspot the DD, and there is no way he can spot you back unless he rushes you. Meaning that he dies well before you do.
Also, submarine submerged speeds are ridiculously fast compared to real life. And that makes them OP in that regard, to say nothing of their constant ping ability and bullshit homing torpedoes.
Cry me a river, sweetheart. This game is not about realism, or how will you explain that every ship gets more powerfull, the more damaged it is? And have unlimited am Munition?
@@marcom2248 It's not about realism that's fine but Destroyers are stuck with pre-1942 anti-sub depth charges against subs buffed to nuclear attack sub level. That's not balanced at all so stops the game being fun.
That was a very unusual tactic by the submarine player: Spotting for his team mates. Usually submarine players dive after first contact with the enemy and stay underwater until they run out of oxygen. When an enemy DD approaches for a depth charge attack they scream for help in the chat, but it never occurs to them, that surfacing and spotting the DD for their team, so that they can actually shot it, might be helpful (for them as well).
Hell. I was playing a German premium submarine. Thug submarine to go for all the cruisers that ruined my destroyer matches! But instead of typical torp killing ships? I was left to be the replacement spotter. Or else lose the game in a one sided blowout... Well did 50k damage. And spotted for more than 250k spotting damage. Easily combat scout metal and the REASON why my team won. I was on the surface for 85% of the game. That was how bad the situation was. Had to mass spot....and it worked!!

How is it any different from a destroyer continually evading detection by use of stealth and smoke to vomit out anything between 6 and 12 torpedoes into the side of a battleship/carrier/cruiser? The perception is that those vessels are vulnerable to and therefore go in fear of destroyers, so why shouldn't destroyers have to be wary about another class of vessel?
@@DraftySatyr Eh, DDs have to worry about planes, radars, cruisers with railguns, and enemy DDs already. I think what makes Subs so hated is the lack of effective counter (as a DD).
I still think that the Leningrad has the worst AA in the game, because not only is it pointless against CVs, but one of the mounts blocks the line of fire of the rear turret. So its not just bad, it is actively hindering the ship.
well the thing is that sub would've died a long time ago if he tried to do that when his BB team mates are not cowering 10km back and actually moved up.
In wows, every sub is the USS Harder. It targeted and sank about half a dozen IJN DDs. If my memory serves, I believe the books "Silent Victory" records 4 were in a single patrol, but I may be mistaken . Good vid.

Jingles commented about the trouble the Akatsuki captain had with the submarine. I was wondering why the Akatsuki captain didn't just sail to a part of the map where the submarine wasn't. When the time came that he left the area near the map border where the sub was, he turned around and went right back toward it. And so the pattern continued. The Akatsuki didn't use the island he was near for cover and kept sailing in circles waiting for the sub to pop up and spot him. He won anyway, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

Really good play by the Salmon. With the new rework this is where Subs are going to have to be more and more ("Light Tanking" it in WOT parlance). However if those two cruisers behind our hero had been a little closer they could have used their ASW planes against him more often which would have made his meerkat tactic a little more dangerous. They could also have fired on the sub more often every time he popped up. If you don't support your DDs this is what happens.
The sub could also do that because there were no BBs or CAs paying attention. Whenever a sub shows on the map in most games, there's 5 or 6 planes suddenly dropping bombs on them.

On the topic of the stealthiest ship in the game - in regard to high tier, shimakaze may be stealthiest T10(5.5km surface detection if memory serves), but T8 Kagero is the stealthiest ship that can enter T10 battle(with 5.4km surface detection range). The stealtiest ship in whole game, was a t2 premium DD name of which I forgot, with 5.2km surface detection range.
To say that the Agincourt has no AA is slightly misleading, Jingles. You are obviously forgetting about the cooks and the ships boys out on the superstructure with rifles and Wesley revolvers…

Destroyers weren't created to destroy submarines. Before and during WW1, the full name of the ships were: Torpedo Boat Destroyers. They were designed to defend against the, at the time, very popular class of small fast boat (like a PT Boat in WW2) that would rush an enemy battle line to launch the new fangled torpedos they carried. Battleships and Armored Cruisers were sitting ducks to these tactics, so the navies made Torpedo Boat Destroyers to defend against and hunt the little boats down. Partway through WW1, the name was shortened to Destroyer as the torpedo boat threat lessened and they took on scouting and harrying roles themselves. They would later be put to use against subs, but that wasn't why they were created.
Even discounting the points situation, the Salmon still messed up by coming up to the surface. He had dive capacity remaining and could have spotted just as well from periscope depth. Maybe it was adrenaline or soemthing, but it was a misplay nontheless.
Even within the IJN dd boats, there are some that have worse AA than Akatsuki. Ladies and gentleman, may I present the Shinonome. One 13 mm/76 Type 93 on a twin mount with a 1.2km range.
I did had a submarine match. I was playing the Premium German submarine. Yes I am a thug submarine when I had it with my team or Enemy cruisers that ruin my destroyer matches! I had a match where I wanted to hardcore KILL ALL CRUISERS!! But the situation my team was in. All my DD allies were bloody pantloads!....forced me to become the replacement spotter DD for the allied team. While not my desire... I did what I needed to do. Spot for my allies. And hot damn they delivered the victory! 250k plus spotting damage! I only did 50k ish damage...but got combat scout metal and was complemented for being that team player. Told the team and enemy team that I got 250k plus spotting damage! Even the enemy team was like. Hot damn submarine! And normally, you are the scum bag player. But you played like a champ. I was first place in my team. Capped 2 to 3 points and just gave my team the needed help to win it all!
Let me cut through the confusion ... The depth charge planes which reload almost instantly, have up to 12 km range, do insane damage and have no charge limit thus get spammed.
I think the lack of good submarine players is exacerbated by WeeGee protecting the class as a whole (you can't be proxy spotted, hydro only spots you at under 2km, the only ships that have sub surveillance are other subs and backline heavy cruisers that prefer to stay at range, etc)
T7 DDs generally have the worst stealth compared to other tiers. I've always found it annoying in the IJN line when you have the Minekaze at 5.4km concealment at T5, then go up to over 6km over T6&7, then back to 5.4km at T8 with the Kagero. Actually lost against a Minakaze when I was in the Yukkikaze. The Yukikaze is a reasonably stealthy T7 DD. But still got out spotted by the T5 Minakaze. Didn't help that the enemy team was really good at shooting me when spotted, and my allys... weren't very good at shooting the Minakaze when I risked my HP to spot it.
I downed a plane one in my Yamato. It fell on my deck before my 1st main gun. It did 1 HP of damage to my ship. (I was full health, it went directly towards our carrier for some reason). I never knew they did any damage to you that way.
Its not hard supermaths. Enemy had 3 times the cap circles, energetiker needed 100 pts to win, meaning in the time he needs to get those 100 pts, the enemy will get 300 pts. Enemy needed 250 points to win. So if the timer doesnt run out before enemy points overtakes, he needed that kill.
Submarines just do not work in WOWS. They are about 2-3 times faster than they should be. They can see under water. They are immune to hydro - riddle me this one btw. They share vision with other surface ship presumably by telepathically sending visions - same issue with carrier planes. The way homing is implemented makes no sense. And that's not even touching on the toxic effect they have on gameplay. (still better than sky piggies)
I’m an akatsuki captain. Strangely enough, when I do decide to open up with my AA fire, I almost always shoot down multiple aircraft before going silent again. I think aircraft spotting distance on an Akatsuki is like 2.2 km, so it’s almost always point blank fire if I do decide to fight planes.
In a CV game, if you can shoot it with AA, it spots you anyway. Without CVs, somebody's maybe tossing up planes (especially ASW) to see if they draw fire.
4:16 DD pops smoke, 4:16 'Detected' icon vanishes, 4:28 Salmon gets 1st torpedo ping lock, 4:50 Salmon gets 2nd torpedo ping lock. AT NO POINT since 4:18 has the DD been spotted, but apparently subs are capable of 'seeing' through the smoke due to their magical undetectable radar. More WG bullshit in favour of a class that 99% of the player base, despises.
lots of stealth in a torpedo boat - way, way, way OP - more so than they already are. Homing torps can be mitigated pretty well by the JB and other BBs with a fast rudder. CA/DDs have an even easier time. I would like to know what the 2 CAs are doing instead of helping take out the sub? Or even the BB? That is how you take out subs and it is pretty easy to do. The other nice thing is a sub HAS to surface - can't stay under forever.
I've got something like 20000 games and only have 1 solo warrior. And the way I got it was kind of hilarious, because with 5 seconds left in the match 2 v 4 and up several hundred points, I TK'd my only surviving ally. I'm scum, I know.

It's 5.6km detection range for Shimakazi.
5.4km on Yukikaze, Harekaze, Harekaze II, Minegumo and Jäger.
Tachibana has 4.9km at tier II.
Dutch man born and raised in a country, France, that's very close to Netherlands in fact they border each other
You can always play the Minegumo so you dont even have to turn them off.
I raise you the Kitakami with it's mighty pair of double 25mm AA mounts.
To say that the Agincourt has no AA is slightly misleading, Jingles. You are obviously forgetting about the cooks and the ships boys out on the superstructure with rifles and Wesley revolvers…
Good day Jingles to you and Rita, please give the floofers scritches and treats in honor of my late overlord.
Our protagonist stood alone against the enemy and dragged his team victory. The kitties would be proud of his stalking technique.
Nicely done.

Nearing my year anniversary for my new PC build because my old 970 gave out on me and this vid made me pucker a little.
Is it just me or can you see the periscope pop up from the waves every now and then?
Akatsuki having very bad AA is probably one of the reasons the U.S. round housed Japan with our navy and air force in WW2
Let me cut through the confusion ... The depth charge planes which reload almost instantly, have up to 12 km range, do insane damage and have no charge limit thus get spammed.
Sub main spotted.
I'd argue that the beginning of the match was a mistake. He's not spotting for anyone useful and approaching the sub cost him a little.
I think people need to put pressure on WG to recognize the input of players who don't do damage but enable damage
Suddenly I feel like listening to a song about fish eye lenses.
that was very good game by Salmon, and the Fiji for being a good partner...
I have a real fear that I will be on a Jingles episode doing something really bad lol.
It's also not surprising what you can do with a ship that has abilities that are completely made up and have nothing in common with actual submarines.
Ya know…I wonder if those two were divisioned up together or if they just instinctively decided to work together
Thats how you can be torn by wishing aither side the win xD
Brilliant Video!!!!
Is my screen dying or did anyone else get a seizure around 7:15?
you're not the only one, i went back and watched that section again just to make sure I wasn't in for some costly repairs anytime soon😅
10:46 he says as Myoko depth charge planes fly across the screen :D
10:20 Irian too :D
I was over 10k games played before I got one on WoWS Legends PS5 got 2 now lol
Jesus that rendering bug was starting to make me think my TV was dying
I downed a plane one in my Yamato. It fell on my deck before my 1st main gun. It did 1 HP of damage to my ship. (I was full health, it went directly towards our carrier for some reason). I never knew they did any damage to you that way.
Is it just me or is there a fish eye lens effect going on here. It hurts my eyes when the camera is moved around real quick
Based on the keyboard layout shown at 19:40 the player Energetiker is not Dutch.
It would work on a German QWERTZ-Layout. The name would work as well
The trick is to position this ship near a cruiser.
Its not hard supermaths. Enemy had 3 times the cap circles, energetiker needed 100 pts to win, meaning in the time he needs to get those 100 pts, the enemy will get 300 pts. Enemy needed 250 points to win. So if the timer doesnt run out before enemy points overtakes, he needed that kill.
problems with the PC again Jingles? Only available at 1080p today?
The player in the Fiji was quite bad because he didn't took the even small chance to win by blind firing and killing the DD in the last minutes!
#44 - Let's got, CO Dave!
Asashio and HSF Harakaze 2 both have 5.4km det.
For me, they are working very well... 😂😂😂
You mean the ship system specifically designed to counter subs, doesn't do much of anything to them? That's WG for you...
Hey Jingles, I've noticed the last couple videos have been in 1080P. Is this intentional?
So I stopped the video, ran out and got an eye exam & new glasses. On the way home, I picked up a new video card and monitor.
