I stopped playing the game and then returned to gaming when I left the military. The reason why I came back? The game offered me a free giulio cesare for simply logging in. I didnt know just how lucky I was at the time
Especially since OG Missouri is a floating federal mint with a base 40% credit boost at tier 9, when all other premium tier 9s have a 10% base credit boost.
The Benham is better than the Somers, even if they are both nowhere to be found (the Somers is not even in the Christmas boxes). The Benham has an insane torpedo reload (and it has 4 launchers), decent concealment for its tier, and US smokes. These two weak points are low HP and anemic AA. His guns are those of the Mahan class, so not so bad, and the range of his torpedoes is a little short compared to Russian radars. But he can saturate the hydros, too many hydro, of the adversaries. It is relatively ineffective if the opponent retreats, more than adequate on a stable front, on the other hand to stop an enemy push, it is a monster.
I can add some more: Gremyashchy (Tier 5)- One of the first premium DD, utterly broken because of speed, hard hitting guns at 12km, good torpedo and 6.1 conceal, Kamikaze level seal clubbing, but more versatile Imperator Nikolai I (Tier 4)- BB, that was pulled after a week, nearly no upper structure, you could had 9 out of 12 guns on target while being angled, extrem accurate at 14.1km, I dev-striked once 3 CL with 3 salvos Arkansas Beta (Tier 4)- CBT reward, you could slot all 6 American BB upgrades, which let's you smash cruisers and carriers nearly from the other side of low tier maps Kutuzov(Tier 8)- one of the more broken releases, extrem range guns, flat arc, fast reload because of 152mm, 12% fire chance, untouchable for carriers until the player was very good in a T10, with smoke, you could farm open water at 19.1km. She and the Belfast lead to the change of smoke firing detection, because you needed to sail into the smoke to see them, even on a DD Enterprise (T8)- utterly OP in her original version, especially with a good CV player (before the rework), you could cross drop torpedo into smoke, cit CA and BB at will. The original Kitakami was even removed in CBT, player got a Atago in exchange, the Kitakami was a danger to the own team, since torps damaged all ships and they started fully loaded. Smaland wasn't the first radar dd, that was the Black, even as ultra casual solo player, I had a 60% WR with her, fav tactic: let a enemy DD take the cap, check if there are radar ships nearby, launch your torps, spot the other DD, he smokes up, you radar him, he either sailed into your torps or you gunned him down, and then you take his smoke to cap Stopped now 3-4 years ago, WG broke all the promises, player base turned worse since most experienced players quitted, the game turned into a second job, when you wanted to unlock every free stuff instead of being fun. I had all the banned ships, all tech tree researched and a guy paid me 3k for the account. Seeing in what the game turned by now, it was the right choice.

I got Lenin as one of the "mystery ships" in a Summer Sale bundle a few years back. They were offering Tier 6, 7, and 8 ships that you could see...and for just a little more than cost, you received two other random ships of that tier. I purchased Alabama and the mystery bundle ships were Lenin and Prinz Eugen. I was pretty impressed and she became one of my favorites. Georgia I scored just before they removed it from availability...What a fun ship!!! Missed Smaland unfortunately.
Only now, nearly 10 years on since I started playing back in 2015, do I regret not shelling out the money for Imperator Nikolai. It was terrifying back then and you almost never see one now.

Three ships that are even harder to get (read essentially impossible) ... Iwaki Alpha, Arkansas Beta, and the Nikoli. Now what makes those special? Well I don't have the Iwaki but from what I understand it's a tier 4 cruiser with very accurate guns with a smoke screen and hydro, good torp angles to. The Arkasas Beta isn't so much OP, it literally has zero AA which doesn't matter these days, it's the old A hull for the Wyoming but you could mount tier 9 upgrades to it. It's just a strange ship. The Nikoli.... if you think the GC is the nightmare of Omahas... it's a tier 4 with trolling russian armor, virtually zero super structure to farm, and I believe with 12 guns have a 2.0 Sigma.... so you basically have a tanky BB that smacks anything it fires at. Back when it came out however it was just an average BB, mostly because back then you could still see Tier 6 ships so you could get farmed very easilly by tier 6 CVs and tier 6 BBs smacks the thing hard since it still has a raised citadel. Imagine getting stuck in a tier 6 game with a Ryujo and Fuso shooting at you across the map and you're stuck on ocean with a slow BB that has no AA and can only fire out to a limited range. Where it became OP as Fk is when they limited tier 4 to a max of tier 5 match maker and limited the match maker to smaller maps at lower tiers. It went from sometimes miserable to play to just god tier.

Yep. Took my YEARS and Quite a bit of money trying just to get the smaland. Still no thunderer or mushasi though. I got Georgia when it was still for sale for coal way back when.
Musashi accuracy is an accidental buff to here not a nerf. She fights t7 and t8 cruisers and they tend to be quite small you take a 25 km shot with super accurate guns and the little ship will see them coming and side step them. Not so with Musashi that shot gun effect is lethal every shell can be a 14k cit hit and its hard to dodge a shot gun and the over match is just the icing on the cake. She also pays insanely well the blue eco boost will make you 1.5 to 2 million a game and the red one I have seem 3 million credits a game.
I got all of the ships minus Cesare...I didnt want it. but my first unobtainable was the Kaze R which I got for pearls during the event (had to collect 250 pearls for turn-in) when it first came out and then the Fujin during the halloween event (250 token turn-in) that you had to collect some things to turn in for the ship. Kamikaze came years later and Its a hairline worse than the original two. out of the three, Fujin and Kaze R are the true un-nerfed minekaze. this was all before they decided to change things up and make ships sellable, drop from containers, or exclusive bundles. It was never bought or dropped from containers. Youre also missing one ship as well....Missouri is missing as its unobtainable as well. Mushashi was the replacement for the ship which I did get.

One correction here. Belfast was released few months earlier than Giulio. Also I would extend that list to 10 ships. Benham - extremely good torpedo boat being the ultimate torpedo spammer on T9. Kutuzov - despite the nerf she got with the introduction of smoke fire penalty - it’s still a very strong ship. 19km range and being able to hit stuff as a light cruiser is insane. Massachusetts - it’s not super strong but has a very good potential thanks to the fast heal and the secondaries, getting into T6 MM is super fun to play. Although you can say it’s like a slower Georgia and smaller gun caliber but still it deserves to be on this list.
I've got Thunderer, Musashi, Georgia, Fujin out of their list. Also have Smolensk which could be added to the list of hard to get ships. Don't bother not having Lenin because of Massachusett. If santana asks what ship you want for your Christmas, I would say give me Smaland FFS 😂
I got a Giulio Cesare in a container and didnt know what i had and assumed "oh its a T5 Italian battleship must be junk" and it wasnt until i casually mentioned it to my fellow clan members they let me know about that ship lol

As someone with a starter account I was just given the Giulio Cesare..... And I fucking love it! I don't play the game seriously anymore so having something fun that I can just poodle around in and have fun is only of the only things that keeps WoWs from getting deleted off my pc.
Have the Thunderer, Georgia, Haida, and Kamikaze. Coal for Georgia and Thunderer. Got Kamikaze through a mission. Honestly don't remember how I got the Haida and haven't played it much. I'll have to revisit that. Remember when Musashi was a FXP ship, but 750k was a lot of XP back then. Never really had a shot at it.
@@octaviusmorlock A long time ago you could shoot insade the smoke without penalty. The Flint was one of the few cruisers that had smoke. smoke, strong aa and 5sec reload a powerful convination.
I got Mushashi, Thunderer and Belfast in crates the first year I bought crates, I think I bought about 40 crate thereabouts - that was like 4 or 5 years ago. My account id number must be like a CCs and the WG mistyped.
I have every one of these except for Smaland. (And also Nikolai, Kaiser whatever @ T3, Gremy, etc.) Only reason I don't have Smaland is that I was pissed about the carrier changes and worried about the upcoming submarines and didn't want to spend any more money until I saw how things shook out. Glad I never bothered- I stopped playing before they took Smaland out of the store.
Anyone who plays a Kamakazi or any of its clones in randoms is a complete wimp. They are OP, play a ship that is fair. I've kept track in every time I've played where a Kamakaze is on one side and not the other, the team with the Kamakaze has a 95% win rate in my experience. The worst part about Kamakaze isn't that it is still in the game (because people have it), the worst part is that they took it out of obtainability - meaning not only can people play it against you, but you yourself cannot even get it to counter that. In this case taking it out of the game was the worst thing they could have done.
The GC isn't what she was. The armor model changed in port so I think the armored nose has been removed. The Belfast is only scary to those who don't know how to fight her. I used to hunt them in ranked in my Simms. Send torpedos to force them from smoke and let team kill it.
Thunderer on initial release was so over powered that i just on principle reported people for unsportmanship play, because it was that bad, i remember the first game i ever had fighting one, i was in my Montana and fair enough it caught me broadside, but it fired HE, and i lost 20k HP and got a triple fire, insta dmg conned that, only for it to do a 15k salvo and quad fire me, in 2 salvo's it had take me down from full health to less than 15k HP from Fire tick and chunk dmg from its Salvo's
I have the Kamikaze R from the very early days and Giulio Cesare from Prime Gaming (!?) idk I got it recently, I certainly abuse the Kamikaze R in events and Brawls
They are not unobtainable. You can get them from super containers and have a much better chance to get them in Santa Containers. The chances are still small but there is a chance.
The reason people don't play thunder isn't because of the range nerf but because Vincent is a thing and it is arguably better so why wouldn't play Vincent instead?
I still prefer Thundy over Vinny, I hate that Vinny can be smased through the nose by so many BBs nowadays but only a rare few can do that to the Thundy.....plus Thundy is still my highest ever scoring round in the game 350k
@BasJon I do as well thunderer guns are just better in terms of accuracy and shit like that it is just that anyone can grind the Vincent line and get the same thing but Vincent is easier to play with the superheal and the speed boost
After many years of trying at xmass time i finally last xmass got a smaland.. Such a crazy strong DD. Thunderer.. that ship makes zero sense. Who thought it was a good idea to create that creature.

Quote: "Atago was the first Tier VIII premium ship released for World of Warships, replacing Kitakami at the end of Closed Beta." So OG Kitakami was older than her. The OG Kitakami was added in Update 0.2.3 (alpha). Which makes her older than for example Gremyashchy which was added in Update 0.3.0 (Alpha). (Gremyashchy was first sold in pre-order bundles from 8 April through 25 June 2015. She has not been sold since.) Warspite is also older than Atago and Tirpitz but younger than Gremyashchy. There might be even older premium ships than Kitakami.
Cesare is not accurate nor tanky, compared to all the other tier V a Konig is more accurate and so the Viribus Unitis. Cesare is also one of the few battlrships that can be deleted by a single salvo if caught broadside. What Cesare has is relative good speed and very good maneuvrability, decent turret rotation and shells that don't often overpenetrate cruisers. What it has, overall is a full spec commander at tier V, being a premium, which makes all the difference for any ship, and is often a seal clubber weapon of choice, which can be done on any other battleship at tier V. Flexibility is the key compared to slow dreadnought. It also has excellent HC, possibly the best in the Regia Marina. When facing other dreadnought at short distance, especially Russians, Japanese and Germans, all it advantage evaporate.
I guess I am lucky, having played the game since 2016 across 2 regions NA and EU, I own every removed ship in the game, I must admit of late I am getting sick of playing the game with subs and cvs, I am really hoping this AA Cv rework coming soon will help improve things, otherwise I think it will be time to hang up my keys for this game and hit the unistall button.......

The pre-nerf Minekaze was actually slightly faster than the Kamikaze. I had so much fun in that ship. Something like 15 million XP of fun.

Massachusetts - it’s not super strong but has a very good potential thanks to the fast heal and the secondaries, getting into T6 MM is super fun to play. Although you can say it’s like a slower Georgia and smaller gun caliber but still it deserves to be on this list.

I've got Thunderer, Musashi, Georgia, Fujin out of their list. Also have Smolensk which could be added to the list of hard to get ships. Don't bother not having Lenin because of Massachusett. If santana asks what ship you want for your Christmas, I would say give me Smaland FFS 😂
I got a Giulio Cesare in a container and didnt know what i had and assumed "oh its a T5 Italian battleship must be junk" and it wasnt until i casually mentioned it to my fellow clan members they let me know about that ship lol

As someone with a starter account I was just given the Giulio Cesare..... And I fucking love it! I don't play the game seriously anymore so having something fun that I can just poodle around in and have fun is only of the only things that keeps WoWs from getting deleted off my pc.

@@octaviusmorlock A long time ago you could shoot insade the smoke without penalty. The Flint was one of the few cruisers that had smoke. smoke, strong aa and 5sec reload a powerful convination.

I have every ship on this list. I play Haida occasionally in ranked. I don't play any of them much tbh. I am not really a seal clubber.
I have every one of these except for Smaland. (And also Nikolai, Kaiser whatever @ T3, Gremy, etc.) Only reason I don't have Smaland is that I was pissed about the carrier changes and worried about the upcoming submarines and didn't want to spend any more money until I saw how things shook out. Glad I never bothered- I stopped playing before they took Smaland out of the store.
Anyone who plays a Kamakazi or any of its clones in randoms is a complete wimp. They are OP, play a ship that is fair. I've kept track in every time I've played where a Kamakaze is on one side and not the other, the team with the Kamakaze has a 95% win rate in my experience. The worst part about Kamakaze isn't that it is still in the game (because people have it), the worst part is that they took it out of obtainability - meaning not only can people play it against you, but you yourself cannot even get it to counter that. In this case taking it out of the game was the worst thing they could have done.
as a british bb player, i'd really say thunderer is definitly my dream ship, but sadly, it's not obtainable when i got into the game

The GC isn't what she was. The armor model changed in port so I think the armored nose has been removed.
The Belfast is only scary to those who don't know how to fight her. I used to hunt them in ranked in my Simms. Send torpedos to force them from smoke and let team kill it.
Thunderer on initial release was so over powered that i just on principle reported people for unsportmanship play, because it was that bad, i remember the first game i ever had fighting one, i was in my Montana and fair enough it caught me broadside, but it fired HE, and i lost 20k HP and got a triple fire, insta dmg conned that, only for it to do a 15k salvo and quad fire me, in 2 salvo's it had take me down from full health to less than 15k HP from Fire tick and chunk dmg from its Salvo's

They are not unobtainable. You can get them from super containers and have a much better chance to get them in Santa Containers. The chances are still small but there is a chance.

The reason people don't play thunder isn't because of the range nerf but because Vincent is a thing and it is arguably better so why wouldn't play Vincent instead?
I still prefer Thundy over Vinny, I hate that Vinny can be smased through the nose by so many BBs nowadays but only a rare few can do that to the Thundy.....plus Thundy is still my highest ever scoring round in the game 350k
@BasJon I do as well thunderer guns are just better in terms of accuracy and shit like that it is just that anyone can grind the Vincent line and get the same thing but Vincent is easier to play with the superheal and the speed boost

The OG Kitakami was added in Update 0.2.3 (alpha). Which makes her older than for example Gremyashchy which was added in Update 0.3.0 (Alpha). (Gremyashchy was first sold in pre-order bundles from 8 April through 25 June 2015. She has not been sold since.) Warspite is also older than Atago and Tirpitz but younger than Gremyashchy. There might be even older premium ships than Kitakami.

Cesare is not accurate nor tanky, compared to all the other tier V a Konig is more accurate and so the Viribus Unitis.
Cesare is also one of the few battlrships that can be deleted by a single salvo if caught broadside.
What Cesare has is relative good speed and very good maneuvrability, decent turret rotation and shells that don't often overpenetrate cruisers.
What it has, overall is a full spec commander at tier V, being a premium, which makes all the difference for any ship, and is often a seal clubber weapon of choice, which can be done on any other battleship at tier V. Flexibility is the key compared to slow dreadnought. It also has excellent HC, possibly the best in the Regia Marina.
When facing other dreadnought at short distance, especially Russians, Japanese and Germans, all it advantage evaporate.
That's why it was called the best T7 heavy cruiser, cosplay as a T5 BB

I guess I am lucky, having played the game since 2016 across 2 regions NA and EU, I own every removed ship in the game, I must admit of late I am getting sick of playing the game with subs and cvs, I am really hoping this AA Cv rework coming soon will help improve things, otherwise I think it will be time to hang up my keys for this game and hit the unistall button.......
