      No dude, the Sens pick was Duchene, the cost was a 1st round pick in 18 or 19 and it turned out that Colorado chose Byram in 19.(the alternative was losing Tkachuk to Colorado and keeping the 2019 draft pick), AND the cost was losing Duchene to Nashville.....

Being a local resident to Seattle and adult league player at the Kraken Community Iceplex, they specifically had a pride public skate last weekend with pride flags painted on the ice for 3 days for anyone who wanted to come out and support pride. The Kraken also blast out pride related content across their socials: LinkedIn, IG, Twitter, and their team website. Top 5 Avs (and if you mention Sakic - you have to mention him as a Nord which means mentioning Dale Hunter because that's the player that Washington traded a first round pick to acquire Hunter); If you mention Mats Sundin, you're dropping the Wendel Clark name (via the trade - which means Quebec trading Wendel for Claude Lemieux to NYI - which ends up costing the Maple Leafs a first round pick to re-acquire Wendel and that first round pick ends up being Roberto Luongo by NYI); If Quebec doesn't have Sundin but only has Sakic, the real question is, do they keep Lindros, forget the drama.

    What? The Sens pick in the Duchene trade was used on Byram, not Makar. Sens chose to keep the pick to draft Tkachuk, and sent over the 2019 1st instead. Time will tell if Byram becomes a better player then Tkachuk.

  • @jasonsmith5226
    @jasonsmith5226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    02 Wings were better than the 97 Wings. You guys are probably too young to really remember those teams-especially 1997. Im Colorado fan,but 02 Wings were basically the 97-98 Red Wings,except they added Chellios,Luc Robataille,Brett Hull,Dominique Hasek(all HOFers-not in their prime,but still damn good)-& Datsyuk,Zetterburg were promising rookies or 2nd year guys in '02. Sure they lost a few guys from "97-(Konstantinov being the biggest loss,cuz of a car accident)-but those guys i listed more than made up for them,& then some.
    They weren't quite as dominant in the playoffs as 1997-the defending champ Avs-after Bourque retired-took them 7. But unlike "97-we were huge underdogs in 2002,we were actually favored over Detroit in 1997-we also were defending champs in '97. But 2002 Detroit was WAY MORE talented than 1997,or 1998 & way more dominant in the regular season.
    In fact 2002 Detroit,(had like 10 HOFers)-was probably the most talented team ive ever seen,since I started closely following the nhl in 1995. Not that the regular season is the biggest factor,but 2002 had like 120 some points or something insane...I think 1997 had less than 100. And number of All stars,& future HOFers-2002 was way better-though both were great. If 2002 Colorado got to play 1997 or 1998 Detroit-I think we win. But i kinda considered it a quasi miracle that we got to 7-against 2002 Detroit. We lost game 6 in Denver 2-0,but 7-0 in game 7 in Detroit,& won 2 or 3 OT games. Both years the WCFs-were the actual defacto cup finals.
    This Av team has an argument as the greatest single season team in the cap era. And is probably the most dominant Av team ever-RELATIVE TO THEIR COMPETITION,& THE RULES OF THEIR DAY-the only fair way to compare teams of different eras. TB undoubtedly just finished the greatest 3 year run since the cap was put in...probably in 30+ years. But 2022 Colorado,or 2021 Tampa-couldnt jump in a time machine-& go beat 2002 Detroit,or 2001 Colorado.(#2 most talented/deep team ive seen). Cuz of the cap-teams today cant stockpile talent like those-& then keep adding on. As I stated above-2002 Detroit was basically 1998 Detroit-except they added like 5 future HOFers,& Zetterberg. I THINK Datsyuk is HOF. 2001 Colorado won a Cup in 1996-then from 1999-2001-added 3 future HOFers-(Bourque,Dave Andrechuk-who did leave after 2000)-& Rob Blake in his prime & 1 multiple All star(dont think Theo Fleury is in HOF) Plus Drury won the Calder in '99 (yes-NYR gm kids)...Hedjuk was 2nd. Alex Tanguay,& Steven Reinprecht had pretty nice careers also.
    You cant do that today-so its not fair to the teams today to compare them to teams playing with no cap. You can only compare them relative to their competition. By that standard-this Av team is probably the best in Av history. But they wouldnt win a best of 7 vs 2002 Detroit,or 2001 Colorado. Probably wouldnt beat 1996 Colorado or 1997 Detroit. Peter Forsberg won the Hart,& Art Ross in 2003...HE WAS OUR #2 CENTER CUZ OF SAKIC! Sergi Federov won a Hart...HE WAS DETROITS #2 CENTER CUZ OF YZERMAN! Thats not possible today-you couldnt pay them all. I love Kadri-but he isnt remotely Forsberg or Federov. Forsberg was often injured-but arguably the best player on earth for 3-5 years-but wasnt even our #1 center.

    For the delay on the first goal I believe it was not on Cooper but the refs as to if Cooper could or couldn't call a review on missed stoppage after Paul touched the puck during a delayed penalty call.

    • @landonlc4
      @landonlc4 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahhhhhh you don't think cooper knew that he couldn't challenge that? he's pretty on top of it usually. he was definately stalling to stem colorado momentum because colorado really takes it to teams once they get snowballing. the refs hand wasn't even in the air yet when they thought they touched the puck, so a challenge would have failed anyway.

    • @kickinacoustic6119
      @kickinacoustic6119 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@landonlc4 To me it seemed like that was what was going on. I would expect it to be a really niche scenario and at least how the refs all came together in a huddle it seemed like they were discussing the rule for a decent portion of it. From what I saw on ESPN it looked like Cooper pretty quickly asked for a challenge maybe a tiny bit of delaying it but within a minute called for it. After that the refs huddled for a while, seemed to call Toronto, discuss with the captains, and go back and forth between benches to clarify for a few minutes.
      As far as weather or not he knew it wasn't a challengeable play and called anyway i see two problems. First, it's a niche enough call that I can easily see him not being sure about it the rulebook is over 200 pages and for me as a longtime fan I assumed it would have been something that was challengeable and had never seen a situation where the team argues that they should go to the penalty kill. Second, as I said in the ESPN coverage it seemed to me that he called it pretty early and the refs spent most of the time discussing it amongst themselves. In this situation i would put the blame on the refs more for seemingly beginning to review a play that isn't allowed to be reviewed by the rulebook before then realizing their mistake.
      Honestly I feel like it should be reviewable as a missed stoppage. It seems weird to me that the it is only a penalty after the ref raises his arm leaves a gap after the penalty happens that anything goes which is weird to me. If a team were to score before the ref could raise his arm after committing an infraction the potential argument that the ref hadn't cemented it as a penalty just feels wrong.

    No disrespect to Ozolinsh-but Rob Blake was almost as great offensively,but 1,000 times better defensively. And unlike Bourque,who only played 16 months here-or whatever-Blake was here 2001-2006. We will always love Bourque,& probably dont win the '96 Cup without Ozolinsh,but he made Tyson Barie,look like a deffensive force. (ok-slight exaggeration)
    But Blake was a top 5 dman-AT THE TIME HE GOT HERE,& HAD ALREADY WON A NORRIS! He is best in Av history,though Makar has to be getting close. I usually dont like to be prisoner of the moment,or annoint guys after 3 years,but Makar already accomplished such amazing things,that nobody has ever done. Hell,Toewes has also only been here 2 years,but hes been a top 6-10 overall NHL dman both yrs. 9th,& 7th in Norris,I believe. Unfortunately,cuz of the cap,& presence of Makar,Girard,& Byram-I could easily see us losing Toewes after next season. But if he were to resign,its possible he could be #2 Alltime Av dman-behind Makar some day.
    And while hes very young,has the concussion past issues,& has much to learn-Byram might be already the 2nd most TALENTED dman in Av history. Still was very good-finished 2nd in Norris in 2001,I believe. But Byram has an unbelievable ceiling,as hopefully non Av fans learned this playoff run.
    When I told you guys a year ago Byram had SUPERSTAR potential-I think everybody can see what I was saying now. Its why I was so upset last playoffs-when they insisted on playing Patrick Nemeth,instead of Byram. I was far from the only fan upset about it,& maybe he wasnt ready. But Nemeth was a disaster.
    I know WHY they did...Nemeth was a veteran who played here for years prior to going to Detroit for 2 years & they didnt trust Byram yet. Hed missed months cuz of concussions,& COVID-but was available supposedly in the playoffs. At the time,Byram had only played like 20 reg season games,& hadnt yet shown much offensive game. But he had on every other level,& had historically great DEFFENSIVE metrics for a teenager,granted small sample size.
    Thats the rare mistake Bednar,& the organization have made lately-my opinion. Who knows what happens if they play Byram last playoffs,& bench Nemeth. Maybe 19 yr old Byram falls flat on his face.or gets another concussion. But considering he had shown such great deffensive analytics,& responsibility...& considering Nemeth was such an atrocious disaster last playoffs...truly 1 of VEGAS best players that series,could Byram have been worse?
    And thats exactly what I said back then. I understand their hesitation,but could he have been worse? We probably still dont beat Vegas,but Byram was already better defensively arguably,& I think we all see his offensive gifts,this playoff run. Sakic has done an unbelievable job. But only adding Nemeth,& washed up Soderburg last deadline was a big mistake.
    Thankfully,he learned from his mistakes this year. MAYBE we still make the Finals,(although MAYBE ST Louis beats us)-but no way do I think we beat Tampa,& Id be going to a Cup parade downtown on Thursday,if Sakic doesnt trade for Manson,Lehkonen,& Cogliano. Even Sturm was a better fit for us,than Jost-who also had the burden here of living up to #10 pick. I think Jost is a slightly better player,but Sturms strengths,fit our weaknesses better,& some fans would always remember Jost as the underwhelming10th pick,instead of the good bottom 6 guy hed become. Sturm also saved 1.3 million on the cap. I cant root for anybody on Minnesota,but I think Jost fits in better there. Although the Wild fans who think hes an answer to their top 6 issues-theyll find out the hard way-just like we did-hes not a permanent top 6 answer.But Jost doesnt have the baggage he always would have here.But especially after Girard went down,I dont think we beat Tampa without Byram either.

    The Review thing is simple. The coach gets 90 seconds to decide on a review.......should fit nicely with the goal scoring team tapping gloves down their bench and getting everyone back to center ice and prepped for the face-off.
    The review itself gets 3 minutes. If you can't decide if the call was right or wrong in 3 minutes....IT IS NOT DEFINITIVE. Therefore the call on the ice stands.
    Stop this 5 minutes thinking about challenging and the 9 minute reviews we've had in the past.

    (Sandis/Rob/Tanguay are honourable mentions that could possibly go 10th).
    Nate and Milan could be swapped for now. Rantanen and Foote could be swapped for now. Forsberg vs Roy is rather subjective. Ozsilinch and Blake are 10A 10B for me. 10 could be Peter Stastny, Tanguay, Blake or Ozsilinch. (edit: I'm really thinking I should put Peter Stastny 10th).
    Cale is gunna be #3 by the middle of his career at this rate. Drury might have been NYR captain longer than he was an Av. Tanguay came and went but he never won awards or scored like Miko Nate or Landy.
    I could have put Turgeon (edit: not him, got mixed up, just forget that).

    • @thedankswordsmantm
      @thedankswordsmantm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardtherichard26 Yeah Turgeon I got mixed up and, ironically, didn't double check that. But also didn't include him in the actual list anyway.
      Other than that, you're literally wrong about everything haha. I mean Roy vs Peter is totally subjective because they're both so amazing. But, Rob Blake played half a decade for Colorado. Which is why he's 10th and can be moved off for Sandis, Peter Stastny or maybe Tanguay. I said Peter Stastny specifically. John Micheal Liles is mid tier at best and never won anything. JML might make a top 20 Avs list but never the top 10. He's not even close to the conversation and I was glad when we got rid or him just like when we got rid of Barrie. Tanguay has never won an award, maxed out at 80 points only twice, and left the Avs twice during his career to play with other teams before retiring with Arizona. He's played half his career with COL and the other half with 4 other teams. Tanguay isn't even 10th all time for games played with the Avs and Rantanen will pass him for goals, assists and points next year or the very beginning of the season after that. Alex is maybe, barely, an all time 10th best at the most. Which is really good for a franchise that has had so many good players. Peter Stastny is 2nd all time for points and assists as a Nordique/Av, and 3rd all time for points so I could see 10th going to Alex or Peter Stastny. I mean maybe you could Put Roy 3 and Forsberg 2. That's highly subjective, Roy is the second best goalie ever and won 2 cups, a Conn Smythe, & Williams Jennings with COL. Also a Jack Adams coaching the Avs. Forsberg won a Calder, Hart, an Art Ross, two cups, and is a top 10 all time PPG player with the Avs. So if you really like Peter more than you like Roy I can see you swapping them 2nd and 3rd, but I personally put Roy second.
