    Hey Rabea, you seem to be a guy that know a lot about delay so i thought, it would be cool if you did a video on how to use delay, how to set them up, and settings and so on.

    The swirly setting is actually the golden ratio or Fibonacci sequence. It creates echos in a fashion that similar to what you would hear in nature. I've been using the sequence as my "secret weapon" in a studio setting for a few years because no matter what tempo you're playing in, the delay always sounds right.

    • @greenonionsalad
      @greenonionsalad 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Golden Ratio is different from the Fibonacci sequence. Although the Fibonacci sequence approaches the Golden Ratio as the numbers move on, it never reaches the exact number 1.1618

    The Strymon pedals are so ridiculously good. I have the El Capistan and Flint on my board atm and if you're not careful you can easily lose a few hours of your day playing with those beautiful ambient sounds

    Bea was able to take a complex pedal and make it simple and useable in a 20 minute demo. As a mediocre player (at very best), it's greatly appreciated. Order placed; good investment Strymon.

    Hey Rabea. I just wanted to tell you that this was a very thorough, professional review of the DIG. I am been considering buying one of the Strymon delays for a while now- I currently own an EHX Memory Boy, which is a great sounding analog, especially for the insane modulation sounds in conjunction with the waveform selection. The warmth and dark tone is an awesome sound, but I'm really enjoying the sound sculpting ability of the newer delays on the market. You should look into reviewing the Earthquaker Avalanche Run when its available. Thanks a lot for this review, really good stuff. Cheers from New Jersey!

    I believe the "swirly effect" is technically called the golden ratio effect, which has to do with math and how the equation makes things in nature (such as some flowers/leaves) and other things that follow this design appealing to the eye (or the ears in this case)

    • @mattgilbert7347
      @mattgilbert7347 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The term itself goes back to the ancient Greeks. "The Golden Mean" With the ratio (in math, you have two variables or quantities are in the golden ratio when their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities), it has a weird and interesting relationship with the Fibonacci series, which *is* definitely present in nature, and was also used by artists. A Fibonacci is where a series of numbers proceeds by addition of the preceding 2 numbers (0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13 etc)
      This article explains it a little. I find this sort of thing fascinating (even though I didn't study math past high-school, Humanities at Uni instead), especially the mathematical component to music.

    Rabea, I've been playing guitar for over 34 years. I know about Strats, Tele's,Tube Amps and gain pedals and Univibes. You are an awesome player and your comprehension of effects is very impressive. I have no problem telling a young guy like you that I've learned so much from your demo's! Could you do a demo of the Keeley 30MS Double Tracker using two amps? I'm using a DD3 to split my amps with no delay going to my main amp and the second amp only has the delay signal with a very short slap back. I think that's what the Keeley effect does. I just want to hear the difference between the two ways of doing it before I spend the money on the Keeley. Thanx, you demo's kick ass and are very informative. Cheers!

    Hi! Awesome video bro! I hope you can help me out. I just have a question, i want to buy the timeline, or just the el capistan with the DIG, which one would you recommend? I own several delays, like the supa puss, the memory boy, the flashback alter ego x4, maxon delay, ehx canyon, boss re 20,and the bigsky for reverb, But, still i find the timeline, the Dig and the el capistan really, really great, so, what would you recommend? Just the timeline or both the el capistan with the DIG? Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

    Hello Rabea, thanks for showing the capabilities of the DIG, I've had one for a little while and now I'll be able to dive into it deeper! I was wondering if you've ever looked at the Strymon Brigadier, what your thoughts were on it and how it compares to other analog delays out there? I'm looking to get an analog delay and would love to hear your take on what to consider. Thanks again.

    I have the Timeline, but just ordered the DIG.
    The question is, DIG before or after TL?
    I'm leaning towards trying it after, between my TL & BS.
    I'll be using it in stereo on stage but mono at home. Would I need to change it back to the mono setting for when I'm at home?

    • @jlunch
      @jlunch 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have 3 Strymon pedals in the Blue Sky reverb, The Orbit Flange and the Timeline. I find that they handle brilliantly with whatever else you throw at them. I mean this in the way that they don't seem to take away from the character of other important pieces of gear, amps, other pedals, etc. An AC30 will still sound like an AC30 with their pedals, etc. My overdrive at the moment is the Blackstar Dual HT going into a Mesa Boogie Lone Star. That amp doesn't have ridiculous gain like some of their other amps so when i want to push it over the top into something ridiculous, I can. The Strymons compliment it just fine and yet somehow know how to stay out of the way. The order of the signal chain is also important. All of my modulation effects are at the end so they take what you give it and allow you to shape your sound as you want. I have never tried the DIG but I have no doubt it would bring many a smile to your face.

I ask you because when I try power supply's mixing Digital (hight power consumption 250mA+) and Analog (100mA example) I hear a high frequency pitch, is very annoying. hahahah, I mean, yeah I choose the gear I review and that means I'm gonna like it. but also, your comment completely nullifies your opinion of if the gear sounds good to you. the whole point of youtube demos is for someone (me) to present you with the best tones I can out of the gear, and for you to make up your mind on the gear and if you Like it/wanna buy it fore yourself. my opinion on it is literally my opinion, and shouldn't really bare any relevance to your final decision over the piece of gear in question.
