5:35 yeah, that is an initial cheaper investment but even if you use the best chipset (z77), that entire build is a dead end(2nd/3rd gen intel, DDR3 ram/ GPU is barely better than Vega igpu at 1080p). Even an entry level a320 board is better than whatever chipset the 2nd/3rd gen Intel CPUs used. The £254 PC at least has an upgrade path since you don't need to completely replace 75% of your initial build.
>Talks about transparency regarding negatives and how it can be overcome As someone who has broken 2 pins on his USB3 header on his motherboard (thanks to a freak accident), I am truly grateful for this confidence boost!
Either the British sense of humour hasn't travelled well over thousands of miles and generations of discarded convicts or Bryan is trolling. I suspect the trolling.
Randomgaming put this out for a bit of fun, he's had a few businesses selling both new and used, desktops and laptops before where he made a decent living. So this was just for the video....
I just listed my first used parts build on ebay and although i've done a decent listing, you've definitely pointed me in the right direction of being concise, with emphasis on the positives and selectiveness with the negatives. Oh yeah and, 'ready to go!' If there's only ONE new component i put in a build it's an SSD. 120gb if the HDD is 320gb or more, but i've recently put a 240gb SSD in a build where the HDD was only 200gb to make up for it. If i buy a HDD new it's always 1tb. Cheers again.
I'm sure I'm not unique here, but I'm pretty certain that RGinHD had his tongue so far in his cheek on that video that I was surprised he could still talk. So, notwithstanding his own good advice, either Tech YES City has missed the point or he's playing with a straighter bat than Steve Smith.
@@SirKnobofCheese To be fair, that build is something I would recommend to someone looking to buy a built system and is too afraid of buying parts. Brian thinks of the PC as something that won't really be upgraded, meanwhile RGHD built something that has a good upgrade path and parts that can be used in future builds like a good PSU and decent size SSD. I would never recommend a 120 GB SSD anymore. I'm even struggling with two 240s myself.
Thank you for this video. For me the PSU is one of the most important parts because electricity here is super expensive and I don't really want to waste power. I can totally understand that most pc buyer don't even know what an 80+ PSU is. Last time I sold a PC I put quite a lot of time into tuning components (overclock, undervolt, good cable management, air flow....), in hindsight a total waste of time.
One of the things I observe when people are trying to sell computers is that many people tend to forget the other side of computer use, and that is, home office/home education. This is a value added marketing point when upscaling the sale especially for low specs builds. Casting your net to a wider audience so to speak, would increase the sale audience range and increasing your profit chances especially if you are selling locally. For this particular build, I would have included the option as a suitable home office/education as well as gaming computer. But, that is my opinion.
For a budget build you want 120gb SSD, 500gb hdd. The psu is also super overkill. With the prices they are at (at least in the US) that thing is worth more then any component in the build by at least 2x.
Having followed tech channels for some time and being up-to-date with PC components value, if I had to choose between RGIHD or TYC's build, I'd go for the Athlon build, mainly for the upgrade path potential. Realistically, I'd wait a bit and spend a bit more to get a far more capable PC, that wouldn't require an update within a few months.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I can’t find a justifiable reason to ensure the PCs I sell due to living in an area where trusting people is on a decline and people will return something or purposely break it to then return it to me. Maybe in AUS the people are different, idk. In my ads I state the the PCs have been properly tested and benchmarked to ensure stability. I should also state that I have absolutely no issue taking a look at a PC I’ve sold someone if they are having issues. The guarantee makes sense and I understand that, but this is just how I see things playing out if I were to offer that. If I were selling, let’s say, skateboards. Well a skateboard has little user error and the chances of someone returning it are slim due to them being able to fix something themselves. PCs on the other hand are technical, and user error is usually why I get a text or call when something occurs. I would say that 1 out of every 4 PCs I sell, I’ll get a message from a buyer asking questions that are usually solved in less than 5 min. With a guarantee involved I see it playing out much differently.
i think using that fact that some peeps dont know the difference between a hdd and an sdd is hustling/taking advantage of peeps there is enough of that going around already. i take a few min to explain things to ''custermers'' to the best of my knowledge sometimes i get returning custermers because i do (i live on an small island so your mileage may vary)
As an upgradeable PC 500W is great - I have 350W PSUs floating around with molex power adaptors laying around. With 'new' 7nm CPUs and APUs they may become 'usable' lol. Old cases may become useful as well because low power should mean low heat output. Retro cases with updated outputs can be great sleepers! Would it be cheaper/ easier to use nvme ssds preconfigured with handy 'free' software for customers?
I build and sell computers for a hobby. I am a retired Dell builder and later Auditor.. I never expect to make much if any money at it. Depending on what I find on sale and in the used market I can build some nice systems that can run games well. Right now the market for parts is dead. A few tidbits pop up used but the new market? Most say in stock but after you drop it into the basket on Amazon it says "Available June 3rd or something like that." So your looking at a full month for the part and maybe more for it to arrive do to the super slow shipping as of late. I have a really nice Ryzen 3600 system for sale all SSD An Nvme and 2.5 drive. All I could get was an open frame case and its just not selling.. And finding any kind of decent case is a no go so far. I purchased one on Amazon only to find 3 days later they cancled my order and they have locked up that money to purchase another one for over a week now. Amazon Customer service is non existant atm....
I run through the calculations and make sure my minimum profit is $80. Also find that people like to offer less so I will often ask $350 for a pic I’m willing to sell for $330. That used if I do a new build the $80 rule still applies. $300 computer your going to have to cut corners because you parts have to be under $220. Also only sell Local.
I have a guy in my area on the FB marketplace that will build and flip PCs and in every ad he writes an entire novel about each PC. It's insanity. If i'm going to buy a PC I don't want to read a novel just to find the specs lol. But I guess it still works for him.
Best advice: word it so most (stupid) and knowledged people see what they want. You could have "Quick Specs" (simplified specifiications) and "Full Specs" with a link for those who want it. Include support information, what it can do, what it can upgrade to, what it is, and link to better (larger filesize) images.
I don't want to be a pooper, but I would actually buy the AM4 pc. I would want new parts and Intel is not an option as an entry system anymore IMO, more so a "at the moment route" system. They now become too outdate too quickly for me to recomend Intel to a new user. At least for gaming. Normally, everyone's first PC for some reason is very quickly "not enough" because people buy lower tier components thinking they are high end and locking a newcomer out of future upgrades on a "budget" system renders it useless pretty quickly. The user would usually need to sell the old pc, which can deter them off PCs in general and often times don't even sell the pc and just switch to console because of the experience. PS. Tune in from PR, love both your channels! Most real tech tubers out here.
Any advice on how to price a PC build? Market driven? Cost % mark up? I've listed a GTX 1070 + Ryzen 2700 + 16 GB DDR4 at $1300 CAD. any feedback is greatly appreciated!!
I play test every PC I sell online. So that way, I know what all it can do in the games that the people I am marketing towards are going to ask about(mostly online shooters, with some other games mixed in, like SotTR). Being as truthful as possible, and even on topics where the PC in question doesn't shine, can win you the sale over people who advertise the bullshit line "It plays everything I throw at it on Ultra settings". I just tell them what it is, what it does, and what it could be with an upgrade or two.
you missed two important facts which sort of makes your comparision unvalid 1) randoms pc was ALL NEW PARTS ,he wasnt building a 'refurb' so to compare to your i5/h61/ddr3 and second hand hdd is a bit silly 2) his system cost of £250 actually translates to $250 us (the VAT and retail mark up's make UK pc parts more or less exact same number as USA mrsp) theres no need to convert uk pounds to us dollers in effect its the same number in both currencies
Not too sure why anyone would buy that build when you can get this lot on amazon for £252 here in the uk CiT Classic Midi PC Case, ATX, 500W PSU Included Crucial BX500 480 GB SSD MSI A320M-A PRO Motherboard Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4 2666 MHz AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Processor total £252 from amazon all new
hey brian. can u please tell me how u get ahold of the alcohol wipes u have? 99% alcohol? what do i use in substitute if i cant get it? i looked at ur pc cleaning guide and it looks like something i would want for future deep cleaning on my pc.
ok but on theirs pc u can switch to quad core and insert a graphics card and got a great pc...that i5 and 960 cant go for long...and the value only goes down especially of something dies of age...but in theirs its bit newer and should last longer.tnx
Also you can't really compare building with used parts to building with new parts, I do agree that the CPU he used is underpowered. Considering the uograde path is solid, I wouldn't worry about it.
I had a feeling when I saw the thumbnail this was the video you'd be covering. lol. I watched it when it came out and I was like "Noooooo, this is too much info, you're going to confuse/overwhelm the customer. Just tell them what it does and give them the specs!" or something like that. The people shopping for this low-end of a PC legit just want to know what it can do, and they may ask you some good questions you can answer, but in my experience they don't even do that unless they have 1 specific game in mind they're hoping to play that wasn't listed in the description.
Does anyone know, why at 5:28, do the OEMs like to have CPU fans placed at angles rather than straight? This seems to happen in quite a few of these systems it seems.
If i want to sell my current rig but want to keep my files and games so i dont have to re install , can i just remove that drive and put a new drive into that system install windows then done. And as for my new rig, could i just plug in my drive and it should work .? If not what do i do ?
The only thing i'd change is that A320 motherboard. It feels like a dead end to the buyer. I'd go for a 256GB SSD and a budget B450 board as they cost about 15$ more (at least where i live).
I watch rghd as I'm from the UK. Sadly the used market is awful at the moment. He is building all new with upgrade paths. This is why the good psu and am4 system. If it was me however I would go for 120gb ssd and 500gb hdd and add a 750ti.
Also I overexposed a bit, so might look like im wearing lipstick lol (IM NOT).

There is no such thing as "Guarentee my systems for ...months" when selling in UK.
Me too, i would have swap that PSU into some 300w or 400w PSU to save some money.
Any advice on how to price a PC build? Market driven? Cost % mark up? I've listed a GTX 1070 + Ryzen 2700 + 16 GB DDR4 at $1300 CAD. any feedback is greatly appreciated!!
He did do another follow up video, that I think was a bit more serious.
To be honest, on my Gumtree, for the most part, I sell mostly locally.
I just tell them what it is, what it does, and what it could be with an upgrade or two.
you missed two important facts which sort of makes your comparision unvalid
1) randoms pc was ALL NEW PARTS ,he wasnt building a 'refurb' so to compare to your i5/h61/ddr3 and second hand hdd is a bit silly
2) his system cost of £250 actually translates to $250 us (the VAT and retail mark up's make UK pc parts more or less exact same number as USA mrsp) theres no need to convert uk pounds to us dollers in effect its the same number in both currencies
yes seen this, there easy way to save money were the sale price would stay much the same, i sold a gaming pc (hd6850) at £100 yesterday.
Not too sure why anyone would buy that build when you can get this lot on amazon for £252 here in the uk
CiT Classic Midi PC Case, ATX, 500W PSU Included
Crucial BX500 480 GB SSD
MSI A320M-A PRO Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4 2666 MHz
AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Processor
total £252 from amazon all new
hey brian. can u please tell me how u get ahold of the alcohol wipes u have? 99% alcohol? what do i use in substitute if i cant get it? i looked at ur pc cleaning guide and it looks like something i would want for future deep cleaning on my pc.
I think you missed the point on question of the day.
Motherboard has only usb 2.0.. what do you do..
Add pci e expansion card with usb 3.0 ports
ok but on theirs pc u can switch to quad core and insert a graphics card and got a great pc...that i5 and 960 cant go for long...and the value only goes down especially of something dies of age...but in theirs its bit newer and should last longer.tnx
Also you can't really compare building with used parts to building with new parts, I do agree that the CPU he used is underpowered. Considering the uograde path is solid, I wouldn't worry about it.
Which lipstick brand works best as thermal paste?
I had a feeling when I saw the thumbnail this was the video you'd be covering. lol. I watched it when it came out and I was like "Noooooo, this is too much info, you're going to confuse/overwhelm the customer. Just tell them what it does and give them the specs!" or something like that. The people shopping for this low-end of a PC legit just want to know what it can do, and they may ask you some good questions you can answer, but in my experience they don't even do that unless they have 1 specific game in mind they're hoping to play that wasn't listed in the description.
He was clearly having a joke in that video. It was a dig at a lot of sellers over here in the UK, particularly on Ebay.
Yes you can just move your drive to a new system.
Best crossover
The only thing i'd change is that A320 motherboard. It feels like a dead end to the buyer. I'd go for a 256GB SSD and a budget B450 board as they cost about 15$ more (at least where i live).
AMD said B450 is end of line too, you'd want to get the new B550 boards now.
I would have said the SSD can be an option and put in a mechanical hard drive (cheaper, more reliable and larger capacity for the price).
I watch rghd as I'm from the UK. Sadly the used market is awful at the moment. He is building all new with upgrade paths. This is why the good psu and am4 system.
If it was me however I would go for 120gb ssd and 500gb hdd and add a 750ti.
