- In this episode, the Nerd reviews a handful of Star Wars games. There have been many incarnations of the original trilogy and in this episode the Nerd reviews the different variations from the Atari 2600 attempt to recreate the arcade experience, to the Famicom game only released in Japan (for good reason).
The NES and SNES also had their own versions in the 90s that are featured and are surprising improvements over the others. That being said they are still equally as frustrating. The Nerd also reviews Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back on NES, as well as the far superior (but way harder) "Super Trilogy" on SNES published by JVC and THQ. With special appearance of the Beer Droid. This is Angry Videogame Nerd episode 99

I'm absolutely impressed with how that stage looks at 2:54. The gradient coloring really does add depth. And for an atari 2600, that's saying a lot.

I believe the Golden Age of Star Wars gaming is 2003-2006. We have KOTOR I and II, Battlefront I & II, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy, Star Wars Galaxies, Empire At War and of cause LEGO Star Wars Saga. All of them are new, unique, from different eras, different genres, and all are BEST at what they do.

I loved disco back in the day, I still don't get why many were against it. It's not like the rock station that became 92.3 KTU was of any worth. It was fresh, new music inspired by soul. Even white people like me got into it. Disco Demolition Night should have never happened.

One of my favorite Star Wars games from the 90s was Xwing/Tie fighter for the PC. One of those where you create a character for campaign, earn medals etc and if you die it's permadeth. In a way I liked that cuz it motivated you to commit instead of just winging it, but also made any trial & error attempt a suicide run lol

As a child, I played the Game Boy version (a port of the NES version) and I couldn't even leave Tatooine. Now, more than 20 years later, I'm making use of the quarantine spare time to finish games I couldn't as a kid, like Super Mario Land 2 and WarioLand. Those were kind of easy. But Star Wars... Man, can you believe I actually left Tatooine but without the lightsaber? I'm playing over and over again with the little goddamn blaster, getting further everytime, but it's a pain in the ass.

It's crazy seeing how far these games I've grown up w/ have come. I just finished the new star wars VR game on oculus quest & aside from a cpl bugs here & there, I can honestly say I've finally played a completely immersive & interactive star wars game where I actually felt like I was literally in the star wars world.
This is my favorite ending ever. The famous buffalo finally made it's appearance.

The level select cheat on Saturn Sonic 3D Blast is the closest I've found to a beat-a-game button. Pause, press C, and you're warped to the final boss. Pause again, press A, game beaten! It's also the most pitifully easy cheat code to execute but that's another story.
