  • What happens when you give a man a title, a suit and a microphone?
    This apparently... The 'prophet' Lovy Elias explains how to see in the spiritual realm... which I took to be how to see dead people... and if you can see them, you can speak to them, right?
    Well, get your tongs ready... here comes some word salad that needs tossing...

    The other evening, when I was walking home, I had my buds in, but I thought I heard and saw someone approaching from behind. I know that people frequently walk in my neighbourhood, so I figured it was one of them.
    I looked round and saw no one, but I quickly realised I was hearing myself and also my shadow on the hedges.
    When I hear this guy (and others like him) bang on about "spirits" and seeing them, I come to realise they are most likely having similar experiences, where sound and vision are not as they normally would be due to interference or distortion.

    I heard somewhere that every person who sees an afterlife during a near death experience, describes exactly what their religion says they would see. To me, it sounds like an example of how incredibly powerful our beliefs/worldview impact our brains perception of reality; just like how our native language affects our ability to distinguish between hues of color.

    • @Jaytee.
      @Jaytee. ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all who have some sort of near death experience, are religious. I've read testimony from people who claim to have experienced an existence beyond this life, but they do not believe in any form of God or Gods, before or after their experience.

      In a documentary I saw an experiment in which they stimulated a certain part of the brain, which caused religious people to “see” apparitions of angels, Jesus, or Mary, and non-religious folk to see beautiful colour patterns. People who expect to see apparitions will explain the things they see as what they want it to be; i.e. pareidolia.

      @@kellydalstok8900 I understand what you're saying Kelly. But I have read interviews of non-religious people who claim to have spoken to dead relatives during a near death experience. Now obviously, this is not proof of an afterlife, more rationally a hallucination as the brain begins to shut down as the body dies. The brain being deprived of oxygen could also account for the experience of a long tunnel. I don't know whether you've ever fainted, it's a weird experience, but the feeling that you're travelling down a long tunnel during the process of losing consciousness, is very similar to what people recount after a near death experience.

    The video mentions Lisa the Rainbow Giraffe (LBUH) eating all the other gods out of existence. Made me think of this (slightly rewritten): "God can't exist because of Lisa The God-Eating Rainbow Giraffe. Since Lisa is God-Eating by definition, she has no choice but to eat God. So, if God exists, He automatically ceases to exist as a result of being eaten. Unless you can prove that Lisa the Rainbow Giraffe (leaf be upon her) doesn't exist, God doesn't exist. Even if you can prove that Lisa doesn't exist, that same proof will also be applicable to God. There are only two possibilities - either you can prove that Lisa doesn't exist or you can't - in both cases it logically follows that God doesn't exist."

    I do something I call cold reading at parties with my friends and family. Especially when they bring new people I have never met. People tend to give more away about themselves than they realize. They give things away by body language, accent, pronunciation, etc. No one ever has to say anything outright to give away a LOT of information. I do it as a way to educate people and explain how I did it. I find it fun, they find it educational, everyone is happy in those scenarios. This guy does the same thing, but he uses it to trick people into giving him money over and over. If I was as sleazy as this guy, I could make a killing in Atlantic City on the Boardwalk.
