"For “whoever would love life and see good days must guard his tongue from bad and his lips from speaking deception. Let him turn away from what is bad and do what is good; let him seek peace and pursue it. " -1 Peter 3:11
“But now you must put them all away from you: wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another. Accordingly, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience. Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely even if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Just as Jehovah freely forgave you, you must also do the same. But besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union. ” - Colossians 3:8,9, 12-14
“Never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles. ” -Matthew 6:34
““You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy. However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have?" -Matthew 5:43-46

Jesus and Moses were out in a boat, fishing, and they started reminiscing about their glory days, wondering if they still had their magic. Jesus said "you think you could still part the waters?" So Moses stood up, spread his arms wide, and the waters parted in front of him. He put the water back the way it was and sat down, saying "do you think you could still walk on water?" Jesus got up, took a few steps, but then started to sink. He managed to quickly swim back to the boat, and as Moses helped him back onto the boat he asked what happened. Jesus replied "I forgot, last time I didn't have these damn holes in my feet!"

Grief hallucinations are a thing, but there's also the auto-deceptive nature of so many cults to consider. I won't bother looking up the name because it's hardly a unique story, but off the top of my head there's at least one rabbi with a cult following that proclaimed himself to be the messiah. He died. His cult still believes. Harold Camping foretold the end of the world... what, 13 times? 15? and many of his cultists thought he was right every single time. A very few wised up, but not many, even after the old fraud died.
The resurrection bit is a great multi-tool for cults. Appease people's fear of death AND provide an easy escape clause when your "prophet" croaks. Cults teach their victims to despise the truth because the truth is so damn inconvenient. But if you think death is temporary and magic is real, well... prophets can't fail, they just go on "vacation".
Similar happened to me when my mother died. Extremely vivid dreams where I spoke to her and she spoke back. It's a real gut punch, but it's part of the healing process. Patrick Rothfuss has his character _Kvothe_ describe it in a way I like; it's like putting the pain in a little box in your mind and occasionally opening it up to look at it until it stops hurting so much.

Then presumes a "God" to stuff into his made-up parameters for what "created" this Universe.

He defaults to a particular version of "God" for no discernible, rational, evidence-based reason. He makes use of logical fallacies. Basically, just spouting well-debunked and silly Christian apologetics. I question if this guy was ever an actual atheist. Certainly not a rational skeptic.

Taking him at his word that he actually used to be an atheist (for the sake of argument) I doubt he took the position seriously enough to understand either the "Big Bang" theory or what logical fallacies are and why they fail to rationally support a position. Otherwise he'd see the obvious logical flaws in the cosmological argument. He also would have probably understood the difference between our observable universe and what is often referred to as the "cosmos" and would have avoided strawmaning the non-religious position.
Side note: that he ironically seems to have a winged cross tattooed on his chest (even though the Bible says not to get tattoos) makes me wonder how seriously he's studied Christianity either.
Edit : About the Journal of the American Medical Association conclusion he mentioned as part of his evidence for Jesus being supernatural, he conveniently left out as few things...
    1) That it was written by a Mennonite preacher (who I think was a pathologist). 2) That it was just an assumption based on the preacher's interpretation of the Gospels.
    3) When it was published in 1986 (IIRC) the JAMA was bombarded with complaints from all across the medical community about how unscientific it was and how disappointing it was that it was allowed to go to press.
So not exactly an authoritative conclusion but one still parroted by apologists, with inconvenient typically omitted.

i think if there is some truth to it its probably a character made from many different characters from famous stories from back then. and they decided to base the character of jesus on those characters. when you think about it the bible really is like a book of fairy tales with some that have a basis in reality but with magical elements added to make the story bigger and more fantastical. and it turned into this giant religion. wich i dont think the writers initialy intended😅

    • @maythesciencebewithyou
      @maythesciencebewithyou ปีที่แล้ว

Which makes it all the more funny when Christians insist that Jesus must have been real. Especially when it's coming from moderate Christians who like to claim pretty much all the magical parts that display Gods power are allegories. They like to think Genesis is an allegory, in order to deal with the fact of Evolution, but then believe in the core stupidity of their religion, that for some bullshit reason their God almighty impregnated a virgin girl with himself, to get crucified for their sins, then woke up in a cave 3 days after dying. Cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.
Not to mention that the magic Jesus performed is seriously a joke, it's pathetic. And from the weak as magic Jesus supposedly performed, people conclude that he must be the one and only all powerful God? Really? How can people be this convinced that what Jesus did was impressive in any way to declare he must have been related to someone all powerful. No way he was just a lowly magician, no, he's definitely the child of the allmighty and the allmighty himself personified. And if you go to comic and anime forums you see religious nutjobs who think Jesus can beat Superman and Goku simultanously. Religious people are really dumb as shit.
Whether there was a real individual on whom the character we now call Jesus was based on or not, doesn't change the fact that the character from the bible is made up. Either way, Christianity is bullshit. There is literally zero proof for a specific individual, who could be called Jesus, but that doesn't stop people from declaring it as a fact that he existed. And then there are the cultural Christians, who don't even believe in a God or that Jesus did those magic tricks, but still cling to the belief that Jesus was real and the source of their morals, as if they'd have no morals any more if they questioned that Jesus was real.
Honestly, I haven't seen a single proof that such a person existed. And you don't need such a person to exist to make up a religion, you just have to make up stories about such a person. It's as if people forget how stories can be made up when it comes to their beliefs. People love to quote Paul or even Tacitus, but none of those guys have ever met Jesus. So where does this desperate desire to want to believe something to be fact even though there is literally no real evidence for it, come from. Why is it so hard for people to say "I don't know", "I cannot know". Why is it so hard for people to even entertain a thought that goes contrary to their beliefs. How come people like to declare their beliefs as facts, as if there was no other possibility.

    1. "What is reality? What kind of world do we live in?"
What does that mean? Was Jesus a physicist?
    2. "Who is living the good life?"
    What does that mean?
    "Like how do I know?"
    That's what I'm asking.
    3. "Who is a good person?"
Good person & bad person are labels we use to describe how we feel about people.
    4. "How does one become a good person?"
Do things that benefit people & don't do things that harm people as much as possible.
"These questions only have meaning if a God exists?"
Well, 2 of them don't really have meaning in general because they're too vague, & the other two are mostly subjective but we can give some general ideas for. However, it's unclear how creating the universe would make you the decisive authority on any of these, especially if your answer is as fucking stupid as "worship me or you're evil."
Oh, wait, you're going to try to answer these "for God"? Splendid.
    1. "We don't live in a world where everything is material, & when we die, thats it. Rather, we live in a world where God works with us in a relationship to bring good into the world."
So, Jesus said we live in the exact opposite world from what we observe? I mean, some smartass always comes in saying something like "well, are abstract concepts material?" but, look, however you define "material," we don't observe magic. And if God is such a relationship-builder, why did you need to be convinced he even exists with these dumb arguments in your totally real backstory? Is that a problem you often have, that someone can be talking directly to you & you don't think they exist?
    2. "A successful person is anyone who is actively living in a relationship with God."
Which, if God doesn't exist, is nobody, & I would argue that if a lot of people who THINK they have a relationship with God are "living the good life," it's generally at the expense of other people. Outright scams aside, the reason mental health is such a problem for non-Christians in America is that they tend to be ostracized by Christians.
    3. "Good people are altruistic."
Wow, an actually good answer that most people would agree with, at least nominally, making the Christianity aspect unnecessary.
    4. "Jesus says you learn to be like this by learning from him."
I mean, so did Siddhartha Gautama, & maybe they're both right, but that doesn't mean they're gods, it just means they have good ideas. But I'm not completely sold because they had a lot of bad ideas, too. The conception of Hell & salvation by grace that most Christian apologists believe in, even if you don't, does seem to trace its way back to Jesus, at least how he's depicted in the Bible. Which raises an important point: We don't even know how much of Jesus's teachings were actually preserved since these accounts were written well after his death.
Wait, where is this meaning of life thing coming from? That was the 4 questions. Also, that meaning is stupid, & like why? An all-powerful god, by definition, does not need my help to make the world a better place. Maybe he should get off his nonexistent ass & do something for a change. Like existing. That would be something.

He would then be chosen to be involved with all the leadership positions like the residential staff, the baptist student ministry, and campus events. Because he is white, straight, and now Christian. He will increase in popularity and this will make it almost certain that he will never leave this bubble. Happened every year at my old Christian college. Always made me wish that I could look be accepted like them, but I certainly do not fit the mold and was never truly accepted no matter how hard I tried. There are 3 kinds of atheism: implicit negative atheism, explicit negative atheism, and explicit positive atheism. Implicit atheism is the kind of atheism babies would have. It's where you never gave the topic of god any significant amount of thought and thus you never formed any opinion. Explicit negative atheism is the kind that have given the topic plenty of thought but are unconvinced by the arguments. It's where we say "I don't believe you, please demonstrate your claim. Explicit positive atheism is the kind that asserts that not God or gods exist. These people actually have a burden of proof, they need to prove that no gods exist (which is impossible). Explicit positive atheism is an irrational position.
There's also the mischaracterized atheist. These are the people that incorrectly identify as an atheist when they were born and raised religious and just had a brief streak of delinquency. These people often say "I was angry at god, just like you", as they don't understand what an atheist actually is.
Anyway, I'm gonna guess that this guy either mischaracterized himself or was a implicit atheist. And I'll bet he was not convinced by the Kalam like he presented himself to be. He was probably convinced by personal experience, then tried to post hoc rationalize his beliefs and thought the Kalam looked convincing in his already convinced mind.

@@connorgrynol9021 There is an explicit positive atheism which is rational, and that's one that says that a specific, well-defined god does not exist. If that specific god is logically self-contradictory then you can safely say that that god does not exist. You may also know that a specific god has been made up, eg the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so the factual existence of that too can be explicitly denied.

01:40 He knows elephants don't just pop into existence but thinks everything popped into existence when God did it? Consistency isn't one of his stronger attributes I see.
08:50 Jesus' resurrection story proves God? Therefore disproving other OLDER mythologies with their own resurrection stories as untrue?
17:15 God wants to have a relationship with us? Pretty sure in this story I heard he did that before and then a whole lot of people and animals drowned.

    • @Kyrelel

That only happens in a small number of small Christian-based religions, and the donations are to the Church and accountable for maintenance and charity. None of it goes to the pastor (or equiv.)
The ones that actually do give a large portion, and directly to the pastor are all American .. make of that what you will.
