While I investigate christian claims, I grant myself the permissions to not give the slightest shit about islam. With that said, I've heard it postulated that it grew out of some branch of gnostic christianity. While I personally don't have the background to know if it's true, it would explain any seemingly anti-christian statements in the quran; they had extremely different views of Jesus and "the father" than the orthodoxy. As for anti-jewish statements, the new testament is littered with them, from Paul asserting that the jews killed Jesus in 1 Thessalonians through Matthew's crowd at the trial screaming that Jesus's blood would be on them and their children through John's Jesus asserting that the jews had been scheming to kill him all along and were the children of the devil.

We have television evangelists (at least in the USA) like Pat Robertson who have made hard predication that failed entirely, and he just gives a lame excuse and keeps on going, and his followers give him even more money.... These kinds of charlatans aren't worried about losing the respect of the their followers because the only people following them in the first place are either their Inner circle that know it is a sham and are in it for the money and power so they won't leave for anything or gullible rubes that can be talked into or out of basically anything, which is the only reason they are following "the prophet" in the first place.

In addition to his 4 possibilities, is the possibility it was written by *multiple* people, as most religious texts are. This would easily explain the different writing styles. Also, the hadith are themselves a compilation of things hundreds of people *claimed* Mo said, written down and sorted thru by another bunch of people. No surprise it's style would vary.
6:00 Weird that he *sings* this verse. I've heard Arabic speakers talking, and they don't sing everything. Maybe he's trying to give it false credibility, or maybe like a lot of people with the alphabet, he has to sing the mnemonic song to be sure of getting it right. In any case, thing passage seems clearly written by somebody other than Mo, and not inspired by God either. If it were God talking, he wouldn't say "May God…", and it it were Mo talking about Mo, he wouldn't say "…pardon you". The parts blaming the prophet were likely written by somebody else.
6:30 Wow. I wanted to see what Mo was forbidding himself, so I looked up this surah. The very next line says the believers can absolve themselves of oaths. Reading further down, this is said so that Mo can threaten to divorce his wives if they don't completely obey him. Which is bad enough, but the "absolve themselves" line makes it difficult to trust any oath from a Muslim. [Interestingly, this whole surah is written *about* Mo. Further evidence against him being the author.]
13:20 We know much of the Quran comes from the bible/torah, because it directly copies stuff from them. Then changes it a bit, like every new sect does. Probably some christian missionary who spoke Arabic taught him or whoever wrote the Quran about the bible stories.
16:45 Nobody had to collaborate with the author, or "allow" him to write any particular verse. All they had to do is teach him the christian story. Then he did whatever he wanted with the story.
18:30 What if what they think is "seeking refuge from Satan" is just another fake instruction from Satan?
20:20 Quran *says* it's the word of God? You mean, like *every* monotheistic scripture does? Not very convincing.

I have another option. Muhammad had plenty of contact with both Christian and Jewish communities where he lived. He had the idea of creating a religion that the other two faiths would see as coming from God and follow Muhammad. Which is why the Qur'an clumsily mimics previous scriptures and rewrites their stories to fit "the prophet's" narrative. Muhammad tried to sell his new religion to the Christians and Jews but they basically told him to shove off. They weren't buying it. They had their own inspired scriptures and didn't need his thankyouverymuch. Muhammad was pretty miffed and dejected from that rather foreseeable rejection but he kept at it by taking his message to the warring Bedouin tribes. They lapped that stuff up. Thus, Muhammad had a ready-made army of followers to help him spread the message of Islam to the rest of the world. The Qur'an (much like the Bible) had writes and rewrites and later edits over time. Several versions of it existed until a sultan finally ordered one copy as the official copy and all other burned. Ta daaaaaa.
Knocking out options doesn't mean other options are automatically true. Any option needs to have proof to support it's validity. Then there's the whole question of demonstrating a god exists to be an option in the first place.
P.S. there are conflicting accounts about Muhammad being illiterate. It seems he could read and write just fine. The word translated as illiterate can also mean he lacked an advanced education.

      @Kevin_Williamson ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@rickn8or -- LRH was heard to joke that the best way to get rich was start a religion. After that he created Scientology using really awful science fiction. It doesn't appear that Muhammad was in it strictly to roll in cash. There are accounts he spent a lot of time fasting, so he might have set himself up with the right conditions for a delusion. He may have really thought he was visited by God and was told to unite the Christians and Jews with a new revelation. It's not the first time. I've actually talked to people who thought they had some brilliant, God-given idea to unite the faiths and make everyone live in peace. The problem with these sorts of revelations is that God, apparently, didn't understand that the new revelation often ran counter to the beliefs of the Christians and Jews, and their supposed revelations from God. Which was one reason why they didn't believe Muhammad's claims. They all believed they had the correct revelation from God.
Muhammad didn't take the rejection very well. So when he had an armed force at his disposal in the Bedouins, he took it out on everyone and forced them to submit. "I tried being nice to you guys. I gave you a chance. Welllll. We'll make you submit to God one way or another." The rest is history.
LRH didn't need an army of warriors. He had a cadre of believers in his pseudoscientific psychobabble who were impressed by the e-meters and thought this was all legit science and stuff. He slowly fed them information bit by bit, for a hefty price, to keep them hooked as long as possible. And, let's face it, people are generally pretty damn gullible.

I don't know if it's true that there wasn't an Arabic translation of the Bible & Torah until after Muhammad died, but there were Greek & Latin translations. Doing some Googling, Muhammad was born in Saudi Arabbia, which wasn't far away from the Roman Empire, so yeah, there were probably scribes there who knew Latin. Since the Quran clearly uses Jewish & Christian writings as a source, even changes some things it has hindsight on, & since the whole story is that Muhammad dictated the Quran to his scribes, the correct answer is clearly "Options 1, 2, & 3." Muhammad authored the Quran with the help of scribes & other texts.
Which also answers some of the other alleged problems. The style was different because it wasn't solely his work, & he might have even been using different scribes. The rest simply aren't problems. I don't even see where Muhammad is blamed in those verses, but considering the narrative is that he's not a perfect being, he's just a prophet, he wouldn't portray himself as flawless. The Bible pulls a similar trick with the apostles, which Christians often use to "prove" that the Bible is true &, since it claims Jesus was perfect, Jesus must be god. So, according to this guy's logic, shouldn't Christianity be the right religion?

The illiteracy thing- Clearly he couldn't read, But he did have ears. He was a merchant after all the Christian and Jewish Traders and businessmen coming to his stall or whatever he had would obviously talk about their religions. It's not to farfetched to think that the verses that he(his scribe) wrote of the Torah and new testament were written into the koran to give a bit more credence to his new "religion". Note that the stories from the Torah and bible are loosely translated into verses for the koran. Being illiterate he clearly didn't write anything down or remember everything the Jewish and Christians talks about. I'm willing to bet he loved the story from genesis about Abraham fathering a boy to an arabic slave girl and that that child would be part of a great nation.
Bible banned by the church. What ban. They didn't need to ban it. Generally speaking Christians were illiterate. Banning a book that 99% of the populous couldn't read is just stupid. Lets also remember that Christian Masses were held in Latin. Something else that the general Christian populous could read or understand. Kings and their court learned enough to get by. The only literate Christians were monks, priests, and the rest of the clergy.

He didnt even address the sixth option, that the Prophet dictated a bunch of nonsense whilst smoking the Hasheesh, like the moon splitting in twain for example, and having some poor scribe write all his ramblings down, probably while a scimitar was pressed against his neck...

He's apparently unaware that not only were there other faiths in the region besides Christianity and Judaism, but the Catholic Church's prohibition on translations didn't happen for centuries after Biblical times and only applied to laity, not monks or priests. Historically, most Catholic heresies were "invented" by monks or priests, not secular Christians.

And Spider-Man comics exist, therefore Peter Parker wrote the comics about himself because he personally narrates the beginning of all the movies with that tired "You might be wondering how I got here" record scratch intro that's as lazy as it is boring.
And Deadpool is constantly breaking the fourth wall so Deadpool movies are actually written by him.
Muslim apologetics is a fairly recent invention; apart from the fact that islam is a spin-off cult of a much older spin-off cult of an even older cult, it also didn't need apologetics because they could up until recently completely get away with wanton murder and still mostly do, so they never needed to develop it.
It shows. When you see videos like "Our magic book says our magic book's main character is real so he wrote the magic book", it _shows_ how new they are at this. Crayon-square-house-with-smiley-sun-drawing new at this.
