Although I don't limit this to Flerthers like Matthew, (I've got to deal with Southern Baptist Fundamentalists in my life), I refer to people like Matthew as "Caulking Gun Christians". No matter what the conversation or the situation, they can't resist "filling in all the holes with Jesus, so everything will be all right."
And speaking of Matthew, it's flame-throwing assholes like him that started me down the road to apostasy. I feel bad that I didn't thank any of them for it though.

Absolutely. While I'm a theist I don't hate people. I may dislike something someone does but if someone else has a different religion they follow or don't follow one at all. Great. As long as it was a choice they made & not one that was forced upon them I'm happy for them

Well, I can honestly say that I have no concept of an invisible being that is called 'the devil'. I have no reason to assume that I have a spirit either, because I don't think that my persona can survive brain death. Furthermore, the concept of a god appears to depend upon beliefs, rather than upon available data. There is no supporting evidence for any of the supernatural claims in the bible. Even if Jesus Christ actually existed, there would remain no proof that he had superhuman powers.

I am continuously shocked about how utterly ignorant some people can be.
My motto is (and has been for decades now): you can’t underestimate people enough, because many of them will always turn out to be more stupid/ignorant than you expected.
When you look at flat earthers, you realise how there are those determined to be ignorant, they aspire to it, it is a way of life for them.
I am convinced that all people on this planet have a better moral idea than the god they worship. But some of them do make me doubt my 'faith'
@@kellydalstok8900 I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt initially but yes, if I find out they're religious or are crazy conspiracy theorists or something my respect drops because they are obviously gullible, have little critical thinking skills, are irrational and deluded.
Yes, they may have been indoctrinated from a young age and convinced by people they trust but surely everyone starts asking questions around their early to mid teens and can ascertain what is most likely to be true and what is not. To carry on thinking magic, superstition and woo woo is reality just seems absurd to me.

I follow a channel called Flat Earth Philosophy (I think he's changed his name but if you search Flat Earth Philosophy you'll find it) and he is convinced the earth is flat and that outer space is just a projection. No facts or logical arguments will convince him otherwise.
He is christian as well of course (as most seem to be) and has concocted this complex model in his mind to make his beliefs a reality (in his mind). It is interesting and quite sad how someone can part themselves so much from reality.

@@Brickerbrack It always amazes me how narrow minded these people are. Outside of their US (less than 4% of the total world population) bubble, the overwhelming majority do NOT believe in HIS god. In my country, more than 50% live without a belief in a god. And we're doing just fine.

Nicely said, Dallas! I've subscribed to your channel. I am one of those people who used to be a "Christian" and I used to think that atheists were idiots and I'd quote ridiculous things at them like Pascal's Wager. Then after a particular sermon at my church, I started doing some questioning and found the answers I was looking for not in the bible, but in scientific PROOF presented by people like the SkepTick, Aron Ra and others. It's like being freed from a brainwashed existance!
I went through the same thing! Except that is was Genetically modified skeptic and Forrest Valkai that opened my eyes. Genetic provided the philosophical, and Forrest provided the scientific reasoning.

Congrats. You know, the more I hear from Christian Fundamentalists, the more surprised/impressed I am that ANYONE is able to get out from under the thumb of Theism. I fully understand that many Christians don't push hate, scientific denial, homophobia, etc., but regardless, changing your mind on the existence of a Deity which you've devoted your entire life to (at that point)... I was brought up Roman Catholic but when I started to question the bible my parents beat me so bad I ended up in hospital and then living with my grandparents. I've been an atheist since that day. One good thing at least I learned now not to be a bastard of a father.
People like this Matthew guy are why we can't have nice things. He's cringe-inducing enough on his own, but knowing how many others there are actually depresses me.
When I was in 6th grade, going to a Catholic school (for the better education, not the religious aspect), there was a day the principal (who was a nun) subbed for the teacher. She went around the room at some point, as asked everyone what denomination everyone was- well, by this point I had already figured out I was an Atheist (thanks Saint Alexis Elementary!), and that's what I told her. SHE was like, "Oh, okay", and started to move on, but some of the kids were like "whatfuck is that?" and I went "I don't believe in god". Literally a third of the students jumped back, a few screaming (somehow in unison) "DEVIL WORSHIPPER!", and I just went "Nope, don't believe in him either". The nun? She got a chuckle from the response...
Needless to say, a lot of the rest of the day was spent explaining/defending my position, weirdly enough with the nun being an advocate for individual beliefs (or lack thereof) being sacrosanct.
As an atheist, I did find a brief period of misery. I felt like I had lost an imaginary friend. I eventually found some comfort in there could be no suffering after death ( as far as I knew).
Also, I often dream about my loved & thinking about the good times gives me comfort.

I've been a fan and subscriber of Dallas Wade since late 2018 and he never fails to put out excellent content. His rebuttals of Christian arguments, his insight into apologist talking points, and his style are what keep me coming back for more! There are a lot of good atheist/skeptic TH-camrs out there (big and small), but Dallas continues to be my favorite.

I've been an atheist my whole life. I mean, I never really believed and by age 10 I knew that the whole god thing was BS. And the funny thing is, lots of people have no idea I'm an atheist. I don't talk about it much. I'm open about it. If someone asks or wants to talk about it or debate god's existence, I'm happy to do it, but mostly I keep it to myself. Most atheists I know are the same. We rarely talk about it among ourselves. It's kind of like, "Oh, you're an atheist, too? Cool. Who are the Raptors playing tonight? Wanna watch the game over a couple of beers?" The lack of god is just no big deal. Man, these Xians really project, don't they?
Same with me, when I gave aspects of Christianity much thought, I realised how contrived it was. For example, Original Sin is pure invention, created to keep believers in line since it meant no one could claim they hadn't sinned and therefore needed constant forgiveness.

so in their own words, demons are considered either the good guys

Putting people down, for things they dont actually Believe or do, is what I look at as Fair Warning. One of my favorite quotes ever comes from the bible ... "Do unto others". Also "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". I hear it "originates" from the bible, I honestly don't care about what book a good idea came from. A good idea or point of view is good. So we definitely don't all hate the bible.

The idea is present in most religions. The oldest known reference is from an Ancient Egyptian story dating to the 19th century BCE.
i used to watch history channel documentaries about the bible, religiously. i don't hate the bible at all. i also spend a lot of time observing the night sky. so, i can't imagine actual astronomers are as cluless as this guy seems to think. they make good predictions that you can prove for yourself.
Fun fact: the story about casting stones was probably not in the OG Biblie. It was apparently added later. It doesn't change that much for me but for Biblie literalists it might be a bummer

I was going to make some comments regarding Mr.Currie but you nailed it all. He strikes me as a bitter and unhappy guy that's become obsessed with his beliefs. I hope he someday finds real, meaningful happiness.
The amount of projection those guys astonishes me every time. Everything he accusses "the atheists" of doing is exactly what all those preachers - and he himself - do.
I think I will never understand how anyone can be so arrogant to not only assert that they understand the "ultimate" truth of the universe but also to know that anyone who disagrees is knowingly evil. This sort of arrogance is typical enough with religion, but it's not limited to it by any means.

I am coming around to the thought that those, like Matthew, are actually riddled with jealousy. They have been indoctrinated with guilt and fear and subconsciously try to deal with it by attacking those who are free from it. He should come to the UK, where at least 95% of the population don't give a shit what others believe or don't believe.

Secondly, this guy is just resorting to childish name-calling, baseless claims, and bald assertions.
Even back when I was a Christian, whenever I would see or hear somebody engaging in such a rant, it actually made me feel embarrassed that he was part of my faith. In fact, more than once have I told people, engaging in such a rant, to quit bearing false witness. Then they got upset, that a fellow Christian would even accuse them of that, so obviously I couldn't be a real Christian...Yada yada, we have heard it all before.
Now that I think about it, maybe that's what more people need to hear. Maybe, just maybe, something might 💢click💢.
Oh, and if this life doesn't matter, it's the afterlife that truly does matter, then shut up, leave the rest of us alone and hideaway in a corner of a room somewhere, and wait to die. In the meantime the rest of us will enjoy our current lives. Problem solved.

As an atheist, the thing I hate is... hot weather. It's so much easier to deal with the cold (bonus points for the sound of crackling fire). God or the bible aren't even in the top 10 things I hate.
I absolutely agree with you I live in the north west of Canada where it can and does get down to - 45 and thats a lot easier to deal with than the +42 we got 2 years ago also not fond of dealing with arrogant theists who apparently can read whats in my mind
@@davefaichney8716 You can always put more coats, but there is only so much you can take off, before it turns into a crime - I don't remember where I heard that, but it stuck with me.

Yep. My journey to atheism from Catholicism began with reading the Bible from cover to cover. The God in that book was a monster.
