  • Full review of DeWalt XR Impact Driver DCF887 and battery with charger. I show you the Features and benefits as well as some of the downsides to this amazing drill. Afterwards we do several tests of the drill’s power and sensitivity of the sensors in the home and working on the car. This drill has 20 - 150 foot pounds of torque and can handle all light to medium level jobs. It even gets into the range of heavy jobs with a lug nut removal test! This is one of my favorite drills and a great investment for car and home repairs. However, watch this video first before buying the drill to know if it’s right for you! Links to the tool alone and a kit on amazon are below. Let me know what you think!

    If you really need to get into those tight areas, I suggest you get yourself a right-angle adapter. Make sure it is rated for an impact driver though. If you want a good right-angle adapter, I would recommend the Dewalt DWARA100 Right-angle Adapter as it is rated for an impact driver.

    I have the 887 and have never had any grief with it. Using the smaller batteries as you are, I doubt you would ever damage the impact because they simply cannot deliver enough sustained current to push the tool over the edge. I use all 5ah batteries as Vince did when he smoked the 887 and they will produce enough sustained current to eventually cause a failure.

    • @grandprixuse
      @grandprixuse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I like vcg's channel but did you notice that the dcf887 would cut off and they would just chabge the battery and eventually the 887 died? It was probably protecting itself and was reset by removing the battery

    Thank God, you made a positive review video about the Dewalt DCF-887 impact driver, according to VCG Constructions, they claim, these drills and impact drivers are no good. I used mine to remove lug nuts off of my 2008 Tahoe when it got a flat, with the 2 AH battery, and it performed flawlessly, and with no issues!! Great video, but you should have used the longer Philips bit to remove the screws on the door latch plate..

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that VCG video is a bit extreme. That’s more so for hardcore industrial/construction work. I’ve had mine for quite some time and have done a ton of home/automotive jobs with it with zero problems and love the sensor it uses. Very easy. Haha true on the bit! Unfortunately I bought the Dewalt bit set after this video and used that tiny bit. Another good investment 👍

    Thank you for the review. I am having a combi drill that I have no issue of drilling but when undoing or driving screws I always have issues. For example, if I try to undo a screw on my the metal sheets on my carport I am struggling. I had to press so hard to the back of the drill to do the job; otherwise the philip head just being pushed out of the screw and tripping the screw. Does it sound like I need this compact driver?

      I don't do that kind of work so I haven't had any issues and I've used my DCF887 quite a bit. It has saved me hours in maintenance time on the automotive jobs I perform. The sensor, lights, and 3 speeds makes it great for working on the car. The alternate model would probably be more likely to strip a bolt since it doesn't have the same torque categories and offers only 1 range.

      DMurph & Pri-Pri Thanks for your honest in depth review! I was trying to decide between this driver and the new Gen 3 Milwaukee 2853 driver. The Milwaukee is also nice and a little shorter in dimensions and have 4 speeds (self tapping screw mode) and no wobble on the chuck. But I will say the Dewalt 3x lights are much better.

    I own the exact same model, but my experience has been worse: Even with the large 6 AH battery, mine has NOT been able to break loose lug nuts, and that has been a big disappointment to me. I wonder if I got a lemon? I suppose it is possible that some tire shop may have way overtightened them. I should do more testing to confirm. However, the 115 ft. lbs. that you quoted sounds like a lot to me. I typically torque mine to 90 - 100 ft. lbs. Anyway, thanks for the video! The lug nut test was exactly what I wanted to see.

      1) Tyre shops off the street DO often overtighten with air wrenches…and seldom use a torque wrench setting 2) This tool is an Impact DRIVER for screws and small bolts, not a 1/2” drive Impact Wrench (which can be 4 or 5 times stronger). It CAN do some wheel bolts, but it is not designed specifically to do that like a wrench.

      A hammer drill would potentially creat an issue as it hammers screws/bolts forward. An impact driver hammers with the rotation so it won’t cause issues with pulling nuts and bolts, especially ones that don’t max out the torque. Yes, an impact wrench is the best to use for nuts/bolts but for those looking for a versatile tool (myself) an impact driver isn’t a bad choice.
