    I have to say yukiwa is one of the best chucks in the world imo. And the thing is perfect for hole saws that bind up easy and whip your wrist around an impact is designed to stop that

    You know….Adding 1/2 inch to the length of their regular 796 or 996 drill, DW could incorporates an impact anvil mech to compliment the standard hammer action. Then ONE tool would drill, impact drill, screw drive and hammer! Win win. Q: Why did they make the shank on the chuck adapter so long?

  • @jasonhull2163
    @jasonhull2163 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I paid 30 bucks for the Makita drill chuck adapter. I love it and it works great. I sadly didn’t know DeWalt made a drill chuck for the impact driver until your video. As always nice videos.

  • @ernieschatz3783
    @ernieschatz3783 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Unless you only have an impact driver and can't afford a drill, I recommend using a drill for anything requiring a chuck. In my experience, the action of the impact causes often caused the chuck to get SUPER tight, making it a royal pain the loosen it when you want to release whatever it's holding.

    • @Oieboie1
      @Oieboie1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is ofc the best solution but there are also quite a few reasons to use an impact driver with a chuck, i for example sometimes need to drive in a plug for insulation, the bit only goes into a chuck and not a bit holder, but the plug is long and makes it heavy on the hands to use so an impact driver is verry usefull in that situation

      They make a hole saw that snaps into an impact? I don't get this whole chuck excitment. I can buy everything that fits in an impact and if I need a chuck we all have drills

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Vera-xu3xw This is true, but a lot of those types of accessories are new to me anyways and I honestly just had not thought of using a hole saw on an impact. That was the bigger revelation for me. Even watching the TTR I usually didn't take notice. Know what I mean? Just a good thing to know, hah. Plus hole saws can be quite pricey.

    • @Vera-xu3xw
      @Vera-xu3xw 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@802Garage you don't buy hole saws you buy the hole saw set that attaches to drills or impact.
      I like my drill with the hole saw it locks the tool in tighter and I would rather feather the trigger and get a nice cut. I'm not in that big if a hurry. Pluse with most good drills you have a dial to set a torque range so you can do delicate jobs or use as a hammer.
      Impacts are Great but they're not for every job.

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Vera-xu3xw I mean not being in a hurry doesn't mean it's inconvenient to get the job done faster and easier. If I can drill a 3" hole in metal to pass an exhaust through and not have the drill catch and try to sprain my wrist and also get it done quickly, I'm totally down! Those kits are still expensive is all I meant and if you already own the older style it's a nice thing to have.

    Great idea but a lot of negative comments on DeWalt's website about the 'hex adapter' unscrewing from the chuck because there is no secondary locking system (like a centre screw with left-hand thread), in fact, the reviews really slam it. Would be nice to see some comment, maybe investigation from you good guys at VCG. There are many other 1/4" hex to normal chuck offerings and most appear to have a secondary lock mechanism.

    • @acidforblood
      @acidforblood 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just read some Amazon reviews where this tool gets bits locked into the chuck and are impossible to take off as well as the hex part unscrewing and breaking off leaving the chuck useless. I think I'll stick with hex drill bits if I need to use that in an impact driver and leave regular non hex drill bits for my DeWalt drill. Keep things simple. A lot of toys out there but its good to know their limitations.

    Definitely getting one. Milwaukee has been at the Forefront of innovation for so long I think they have gotten too relaxed. They better step their game up because DeWalt is coming out with some badass stuff

    I love DeWalt but my new Milwaukee installation drill driver set (new on the market) is light-years ahead of everyone else. It's only M12 but it's already boosted my productivity. I install appliances for a living.

      @fixerupperer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about light years ahead. It looks an awful lot like the festool drivers that have been out over a decade and is functionally very similar to the bosch flexiclick.

    Hey Vince you didn't mention Makita? Did you know 99% of people didn't know they could use this with a Makita impact driver. Great job Vince.

    Does it affect the longevity of the impact driver and what about the impacts as I don't think that would be good for the drill bits

    @VCG Construction Once again, fantastic video. The Dewalt Chuck is the same as the Makita Chuck as far as I can see although i'm abit concerned about bacon fat as a lubricant for cutting in steel. Bacon has salt in it which would corrode the steel if you didn't clean it right. So I think Dewalt should rethink that one.
