    Love that ending message. I'm not a full time contractor, but I do get some jobs from time to time. I have an old Made in the USA Black and Decker reciprocating saw and an old Sears craftsman jig saw that still get the job done. Just because it's not the latest and greatest doesn't mean they dont have their place. I personally love old tools. They're still kicking and I've got them all for ridiculously low prices.

    I have since moved up to the 20 v desalt line. But when I bought my home I bought a set of 12 v tools. I gutted and remodeled the bathroom. Refreshed the 1960’s basement, finished the 2 car garage with 12’ ceilings with numerous heavy duty wooden shelves on every wall, installed many new windows, built a wrap around porch approx 1200 square ft, and countless small projects, all with those tools. It’s amazing what the 12v tools can do. And with all that I never had to replace a battery. I used the same two that came with the kit for everything. And rarely did they die completely during a project.

    I have that exact impact that you showed at the end and coworkers give me shit about it being old but you’re right it gets the job done and it’s more durable than any modern drills I’ve seen it’s been dropped from various highs in water and mud and it still kicks ass. This video makes me even more proud of my impact

    My DeWalt DCF886 has been going strong since 2014 with daily full time use. From 3" deckmates to 6" lags, it's done it all. I've also been really impressed with my bossman's Makita XTD14Z, it's got a little more torque and speed but we'll see if it can stand the test of time like my DW has

    I am a Master Electrician and have been in the trades for more than 40 years. I started in the trades using single speed non reversing drills and have seen the evolution of power tools that now have sophisticated electronics. I agree that the best tools are the ones that get the job done and the the ones that you feel most confident using. I also agree that fancy tools are no substitute for skill, craftsmanship, and taking pride in your work.
    My favorite cordless impact driver is also my first, a brushed Milwaukee 18 volt . It feels more solidly built than my newer Milwaukee Fuel and Makita brushless models, and still performs well. Like me, it has a long history and is now reserved for my own projects.

      If you’re watching this channel and you’ve ever believed that it’s anything but Vince’s opinion I’m confused, did you not see his video on stackable tool storage where he raved about the packout system?
      Packout only excels in three categories soft tool storage, durability and it’s the most expensive.
      Definitely NOT the best stackable tool solution.

    @CadillacZachOffical 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I guess I can relate to that.... I have almost every dewalt impact from my beat to hell dcf885 brushed 1/4in that I bought USED several years ago... It got me so hooked I got the 887 and 890 too, and wound up with one of their atomic hammer drills too in a package deal... Which I didn't even need for work (automotive) but it's awesome around the house, same with the 885 and 887 and when you really need some ass I have the 884 and 899 impacts as well... As well as some 6ah and 5ah XR batteries.... But out of all of it. I tend to love their brushed stuff.... It's so simple. I have a 20v max sawzaw I use occasionally and it always works amazing, but I buy good blades. I see no need to upgrade to the compact XR... Aside from portability. I also recently ordered a 2nd gen 20v weed eater (the first brushless one) because I found it cheap on EBay and I've got so many big XR batteries now that it's literally cheaper than owning a gas trimmer.... I'm hooked on this 20v line... I hope they keep expanding it. With more automotive focus would be nice, some more homeowner aimed stuff would be nice too. I'm not a contractor, an atomic hammer drill works fine for me, I'd like to see that budget line expanding....

    • @CadillacZachOffical
      @CadillacZachOffical 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But out of all of it... I still won't get rid of the old 885, she's the original. I'm debating ordering a new clamshell and rebuild kit.... Or just seeing how long she keeps going....? Honestly I think she'll outlive the 887... It's trigger acts .... Glitchy in low sometimes.... Although It does run better now that I've taken it apart, cleaned it up and anvil swapped it with my 890 to make a 3spd 3/8 impact, and pretty much a 787...???

    I’ll keep my 5 impacts.
    1. Bosch PS42 my favorite
    2. Bosch PS41 most money made with this (I can’t begin to tell you how many TVs I’ve hung with this)
    3. Hilti SID 2-A tool most likely to be found in my hand on a commercial job site.
    Also my kids favorite when helping the old man build something.
    The only reason why I have 18 V impacts is when I am using other 18 V tools and only want to have one battery platform on me.
    4. Bosch IDH182 for when I’m also running my rotary hammer, portable bandsaw and or circular saw
    Normally in commercial locations
    5. DeWalt DCF888 for when I am running my DCD 996.
    Almost exclusively used on ruff-ins in wooden construction.

    Vince... I would like your opinion on the Porter Cable 20V tools... I started with their simple impact driver and have been building my kit of their 20V tools...
    The reason I have gone with PC over other brands is that this is the first set of cordless tools that I've owned where the battery just lasts and lasts. And if I have a battery sitting for even up to 6 months without use, I throw it in a tool and its still fully charged after all that time. Also... Can't beat the price.

      It is not as powerful as the Gen 3 but it is much quieter and smoother. I've had a Surge for over 3 years and I love it.

    Man, I watch these videos, and wish I had a need for all these badass tools. However, I don't, so I stick to the less expensive tools. Black & Decker is kicking ass for me. Keep up the great videos.

    My favorite is the m12. So far it's made me the most money and for being your number 2, I know I made a great choice. I had a craftsman and that was my first and I learned a lot and what I wanted in a newer tool. But to me I have a special place just for that tool. I still have it, it works and it's made me plenty of money.

    Not gonna lie I bought the cheap end of the m18 line with the hammer drill and impact combo I wasn’t even expecting to hear that a normal m18 tool but for 1st place it makes me happy

    Vince please review Ingersoll Rand W5110 and compare to Milwaukee Fuel 18V. Ingersoll Rand has been the industry standard pneumatic tools for machine shops and auto repair. Not sure how long Ingersoll Rand has been in the battery operated tool market, buth the W5110 has the looks, style, and pedigree to make it perhaps the greatest 18V impact driver in the world. Comes with a premium price which may very well reflect superior design, performance, engineering, ergonomics and bragging rights !

    This is good for me! Just jumped ship from Makita to Milwaukee this week, well just the combi drill at the moment.
    Was having to buy a new combi drill every year with my Makita as the chuck kept getting stuck and kept getting metal flex getting spat out the back. Soooo let’s see how the gem 3 goes and if good will be getting the impact

    My favorite cordless tools are a toss up between my 2763 Milwaukee 1/2” impact, or my 2554 Milwaukee 3/8” stubby. 90% of what I work on I grab the stubby and it rips stuff apart at 100ftlbs or more. But for when that just isn’t enough you can grab the big dog 1/2” impact and it’ll either come loose or break lol

    i've gotta Makita TD171 to replace my old brushed impact but i still find myself going back to the old one for smaller jobs manly with screws in drywall as the TD171 is just too balls to the wall angry....

    im 100% agree with you. that older (the #1) Milwaukee is the best one. I have it and 100% agree with you on your ranking. the new Milwaukee impact drivers (gen 2&3) are like a toy compare to the old one. plus they have the collet problem but this one no problem what so ever.
