    How many credits do I get for completing three years of a foreign language in high school? It satisfies Area B for GE requirements but I'm not sure if I get credits from it.

    Can I fulfill the foreign language requirement if I study abroad my junior year or do I have to complete it my first two years?

    Hi! Thank you so much for making this video! I'm going to be a freshman at UCSB and I already chose my courses for fall quarter and I tried doing a progress check on GOLD to see what requirements I have already fulfilled from my AP exam credits but none of them show up even though at orientation my advisor told me I had fulfilled a couple of the requirements already. Should I email someone about that or just wait to see if the credits show up?

    Hi! Thanks sm for this vid! I was wondering if I should wait until my online orientation this summer (mine is July 27) to register for classes or do so sooner?

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ofc!! in my understanding, i don't think you can choose classes before orientation because that's usually when your pass time starts, but if your pass time is open before orientation go ahead and register! check in with academic advisors just to make sure, a lot of things changed this year

    hi, i have a question about what you mentioned in the ge part. so if i understand correctly, i could only fulfill one letter even if the class can fulfill several? for ex, i want to take art history 6b which can take care of area f and area e courses but i'd have to choose only one letter to fulfill when i take it? how does that work haha

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah! so even if the class *can* apply to two letter requirements, it will just count towards one, and this is just based off whichever one you need (as i understand it) - email advising to double check :)

  • @anannyadeshmukh9361
    @anannyadeshmukh9361 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    wait this was actually so thorough, even the resources you put in the description box damn
    also, do you know if not going to online orientation hurts you in terms of class registration? Like, does registering in August mean you have less of a chance at getting classes, or are there an equal number of spots reserved for then, too?

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey! i'm so glad i was able to help out:) i would def recommend going to online orientation if you can for the earlier pass times - it definitely helps in terms of class registration, the more time passes, the more classes fill up. as far as i know, i'm not sure if they reserve spots, i would reach out to advising to ask

      Hey, you could still register for orientation! You can opt to defer the payment until the Fall quarter begins and it will be taken from your BARC account. Moreover, you can apply for the orientation $75 fee deduction application for low-income students! Don't let that stop you from joining online orientation this year! :)

    This video is so helpful! I felt so clueless so thank you! Is it possible to double major AND minor?

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad I was able to help out:) Honestly, it depends on the majors & minor you want and how many units you're willing and able to take per quarter. I would highly suggest reaching out to advising to formulate a 4 year plan!

      @@devanshi908 ah okay. thank you! also how long does it take to receive a certificate?

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mirnatoxtle5455 it really depends on the certificate! i know people that've basically completed a certificate in one quarter LOL but that's an extreme. most people spread it out over multiple quarters

    Sure it provides some of the general information about academics, but it's pretty misleading to advertise this as a full replacement of orientation, it lacks of lot of nuance for the different circumstances each incoming student has, and does not even address the special conditions of registration that only apply to first quarter students. So just be warned that this isn't everything new students need to know about matriculating!

    • @devanshi908
      @devanshi908  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      hi sam! i did my best to include everything i could to the best of my memory & the resources that helped me the most. i know lots of incoming students can't pay for orientation right now, so i just want to make those resources available to everyone the best that i can. what am i missing? i'll try and make a part 2 to address this. thanks for watching!
